Just now a couple of "journalists" have come out and said we've bid for Alexis. I don't know if it's true or not but do you guys think that some of these guys might be paid by betting agencies to post such rumours. Not all but maybe some of these so that the betting companies can make profit. Food reviewers do this a lot. If you're a mid level reviewer then restaurants call you and invite you for free food or maybe deliver it to you for good reviews. When you get to a higher level they offer you money instead. Same could go with transfers as well. If someone has got a large following on twitter and is usually well aware about these transfers, then these betting sites might be paying them to just throw in a name every now and then. Clubs usually don't deny transfer rumours (just look at the number of players linked with united every season ) so the journo's reputation remains intact.

You made some good points. But probably not, Arsenal are probably releasing the info to get a little more £ from Man City.

sailor,

Betting sites don't need to do it mate, the press make enough stuff up for them to get plenty of money from silly punters.

Be interested to get Ed02's take on the potential transfer and whether there's any truth to it and liklihood to it happening.

{Ed002's Note - On the basis of something that was discussed this morning, it seems likely that Manchester United are showing an interest in Sanchez but it is unlikely to be a straight cash offer they are putting forward.

As to whether it would happen, wages might be one issue and Sanchez is looking to leave to win championships etc.. Manchester City are better placed to offer a solution to both of those issues.}

Sailor

The " journalists" u are mentioning include gianluca Di Marzio, the most well connected, known and reliable journalist in Europe. Gives Ed002 a run for his money on inside knowledge.

It’s all rigged if you ask me. United are in talk with so and so, bookies odds plummet to 1/10, people lump on, and low and behind two days later the odds are back to 10/1 and nothing else is said. I don’t understand how they get away with manipulating the market.

GDS I believe that newspapers have lost their credibility when it comes to transfers. They are making up connections just to fill up the pages. And everyone realizes that. But when some well known journo makes such comments then everyone takes notice and in this internet age it reaches to you before the papers. I'm just saying there might be a possibility that some of them might be doing that.
Ed thanks for the info.
