A lot of opinion on the site about players being good enough, and our struggles against teams that press high and with intensity.
I believe our problems all stem from our lack of pressing. When we don't have possession, we drop back and let the opposition stroll into our half almost unchallenged, meaningwe invite pressure around our box. If there is any pressure on the opposition it is done individually and not as a team making it easy to pass around us. I saw a few times when Alexis pressed someone, he looked back and tried to wave others forward.
In contrast when in possession, we move the ball so slowly, and mostly square and backwards, that a high pressing team, easily catches us in possession or forces a mistake.
So my point is, i believe we have good enough players, but we must increase our work rate. Plyers should always be on the move, not stood flat footed waiting to see what happens, instead make things happen. In the modern game, our stats for sprints or lack of them for me shows why we fail against these teams.
