Pogba gets a lot of stick when we have a bad result. Don't get me wrong, he like all players has his off days. And is still a bit inconsistent. However, he is still our best player, make no mistake (less maybe Sanchez actually) . But our team without Pogba is toothless. When he's missing we very rarely perform well. He needs to play in a midfield 3 like he did at Juve to get the best out of him. That's not to say he can't play in a two, but he's much better in a 3.

I thibk Lukaku has been the seasons big disappointment so far. Very average and half assed for a long time now. A big waste of £75m, is of taken a chance on Aubameyang any day of the week.

I'd personally like to see a front 3 of Sanchez down the middle, with Martial and Lingard either side of him. What's clear is we need a top CM to play with Matic and Pog. Herrera does a job but won't take us to the next level.

It's a shame Jones has frequent wobbles, on the whole I think he's decent, why would you clear that cross with your wrong foot? It's school boy stuff. Smalling on the other hand is just poor. He's so bad on the ball, as soon as he's pressed at all he panics. He needs selling and replacing. Bailly, Jones, Rojo, Tuanzebe ( who I actually rate a lot ) and a new CB. Full back we are weak on both sides. If we address these issues in the summer we should be able to rival Cutt next year. If not it will be a fight for 4th again.

Maybe he needs to play in the Italian league to get the best out of him?
Why can't he play in a 2, what is it about his game that means he has to play on the left of a 3 man midfield to play well.

Looks like that attacking area on the left and drifting in to support the striker ( like he did for juve ) is going to be taken up by Sanchez.

I'm happy with his performances in the smaller games but in the big games he needs to step it up! Arguably though he gets more isolated in the big games!

A player like Julian Weigl or Arturo vidal will be perfect.

I think we should go all out for Vidal and let Pogba do his thing.

Do you think he's good enough to play in a midfield two or do you think he's a bit overrated, inconsistent and not as good as some people like myself think he is?

As I have said below he is easily good enough to play in a midfield 2 .
Has all the talent and attributes to play there .
Could be an amazing cm .
Why does he have to play on the left of a midfield 3 to play well?
Lot of hype around him tho .

Ps - I agree with most of that Stand!

Maybe a bit harsh on Lukaku but I'd also like to see Martial given a consistent run of games up top and see what he can do especially now we have Sanchez! He might not score as many as Lukaku but he might improve the dynamic of the team.

I like Jones but he's injury prone and still has the odd mistake in him. I'd love to see him get a full injury free season behind him next to a regular partner. He's still relatively young and I wouldn't give up on him just yet! I actually think Smalling is ok as a squad player which he predominant is. He wouldn't be playing if Bailly was fit but I take your point.

I actually think we've now got a very good squad. Yes the Spurs game was very disappointing but the whole team had an off night. I think with a few tactical tweaks and if we can find a system that can get the best out of Pogba and Sanchez then we should be a force!

Jred, did you see Jose having a go at pogba the other night cause he wasn't doing what he was supposed to be doing, now another midfielder in there with him helps him and the team. let's him get forward more.

I also worry about Lukaku but he hasn’t really had a lot of chances, the way we play suggest he was not the right type of CF we could have bought.

I’m not saying Pogba is a bad player, I’m saying I expected more than we have seen. He needs to get a grip and dedicate himself to making the most of his undoubted talents. Right now, it seems he is not fulfilling his potential. United players say Ronaldo was the most dedicated player they have ever seen. Yes he has talent but he practiced for hours and made the absolute best of what he had. I just don’t see Pogba has done that yet and I’d like him to get his finger out and step up to the level we need, and do it consistently.

Sorry to bang on but when has he ever got a grip of a game and dragged us through? He’s incredibly talented, he has all the attributes, he just needs fo deliver.

Football is never a one man show. But playing to the 25 man squad.

I do agree on Pogba being our best player. I do agree on us playing someone with Matic and shifting Pogba little up. I think in our current squad it is Herrera. And of José wants to he could play Timothy fosu-mensah there with Matic. Guy is beast in one of one and tackles. That would mean sacrifice one person from up top. And I don't think that is too much of problem. Since we just added Sanchez in our attacking threat.

Playing 2 men midfield with Pogba is never going to get best of Pogba infact it is doing the worst possible thing. It's like asking Pogba to play out of position. He is good but other teams are packing midfield. Against Tottenham Dembele, Ericson and Alle was running riot.
It would help if we have defender who presses and are good with ball. Smalling clearly isn't. Maybe Bailey and Jones playing together will help.
But Jose can't see that. And I have feeling that will be our undoing if we r ever hoping any trophies. 2 in midfield with Pogba on one.

Pogba can play in a 2 man midfield but why not play him as a 10 and bring another cm to release him more forward where he is far more effective? By playing him in a 2 man midfield mourinho is ironically playing a more attacking formation as he can bring on an extra attacking player rather than a midfielder and hopeing that pogba can do both jobs. He was unreal at juve because he sort of had that free role in a midfield 3, that's his best position where he doesn't need to concentrate as much on his defensive duties. I would like to see lukaku up top with martial and Sanchez either side with pogba just in behind, that leaves mata, rashford and lingers as options off the bench. It will be interesting to see lukakus strike rate compared to Kane, morata and aguero as someone pointed out, his chances have really dried up recently. I also read a rumour that matic has been carrying an injury for the past 6 weeks, not sure how true it is.

Pogba has a bad game so what we all **** up where’s the talk about Bernardo Silva and how crap he’s been no mention about the most overrated transfer this summer hopefully all this bad press is used as ammunition for mourinho.
