Lads,
What exactly was the problem with ravel morrision? From everything I've heard he was incredibly talented. How good exactly could he have been if he focused on football, and does anyone know where he is now?

No amount of talent is a substitute for common sense and good judgement.

He’s playing in Mexico at the moment, I think for a team called Atlas?

It’s whether you believe people can rise above their environment and upbringing or not. I grew up in Longsight, everyone carried knives, there were regular gang fights, it was very tough. We left when I was 18 and moved to Cheshire, best thing that ever happened to me. I always wanted to learn new things and better myself, I got a good job, climbed the ladder, and I now have a lovely house in a nicee middle class village. I would have risen above my start but moving out of the area was a huge help. However some I grew up with were happy with their environment and knew nothing else, they never moved, got themselves into trouble, one guy became a heroin dealer, one guy got killed by a bus running away from a rival gang.

Morrison seems unable to leave his past behind and drop the people who are damaging to him. Maybe he’s thick, uneducated, or just plain stupid. He has a god given talent and an opportunity to change his life, and that of his family but he seems conditioned and is unable to step away. I can only presume that he doesn’t share my desire for self improvement.

He's got a touch of the michael vicks about him, immensely talented, but hung around with plastic gangstas' and loved all the 'respect' and ghetto bruvverhood that went with it, suffice to say that if S. A. F. said he was head and shoulders above anyone he saw come through the academy, then its a crying shame, i think when S. A. F. let big sam take him he hoped that might rattle his cage but it didn't, what can you do?
