Great read that Ed, really enjoyed it. What a man he was. Clearly has had an incredible influence on modern football.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate, glad you enjoyed it.}

Great article Ed001.
Cruyff is one of the greats in modern football. He put Holland up amongst the great football countries. Nimble, intelligent and skillful.
Good time the article reminding us what the real meaning of football imho.
👏 Ed.

{Ed001's Note - shame there isn't more like him in the game. Intelligent and footballer are two words that very very rarely go together!}

Tell me about it Ed001. Those were the days. Those were the days. 😊.

{Ed001's Note - at one time Liverpool had a team almost entirely made up of university graduates. You just can't see that happening again! Most modern day footballers would struggle to spell graduate.}

Those days though a ManUtd fan but I liked Hoddle, Dalglish, Keagan, Rush, and a few more prolific players. Of course I love the entire ManUtd team 🤣🤣. But again those were the days.
These days you read more other thing about their cars, houses, WAGs, even hairstyles (😉🤣) . How things and times have changed.

{Ed001's Note - you would think a good grounding through education would be even more important to them now, with so much money to look after. You look at the truly greatest stars in sport, the ones who lasted while performing and kept hold of their riches afterwards, and most of them took some time to enhance their education. The likes of Michael Jordan went back to college as soon as their playing career gave them the time to do so. It would do the likes of Paul Pogba a lot of good to do the same. They have the time, so why not put it to good use?}

Yeah agree though MJ actually gambles a lot with Magic Johnson. But the ultimate are people like Charlton although I think a good wife has something to do with that. I can’t say much about the same for Maradona? 😉
But yes would help then a lot to go back to get a proper education and become a person with good head on shoulder. Do some good and return to the society. I’m sure that’s the same for you 😉 since you are doing what you do here - a great job 👍.

{Ed001's Note - MJ can afford it though, not a problem gambling if you keep it within affordable limits. Charlton was more of a family man, rather than returning and enhancing his education, he would just spend time with the wife. Certainly a bonus for a manager if a player would rather go for a nice meal with his missus than go out on the lash. Managers would often try and get youngsters married off in the 60s and 70s. Busby famously tried to do so with Best to calm him down.

Thank you mate, though I am self-educated, as I never really went to school, which is why I am such an advocate for getting an education. Not having a formal education held me back in terms of getting a job throughout my life.}

Haha Ed. These days even a high education may not necessarily guarantee you a job let alone a good job. And I feel these days it’s better to have a good skill than a good education. Old school for me sorry 😐 🤣.

{Ed001's Note - I do agree, but I would call learning a skill education myself.}

I really do think you 2 should just meet up for a beer you'd have loads to talk about. Love reading the posts and replies between you both.

{Ed001's Note - hopefully mate, that would be good. Though he would have to drink the beers for me!}
