Frankly the clubs in a mess. Its been in a mess since Fergie and Gill left. We have a manager most of the fans have turned on and if rumour is true so have some of the players. We have some players who it seems the manager is trying to force. Some players who are past their sell by date. A guy running the club who can't see past a balance sheet.

Is sacking a 3rd manager in 5 years the answer? It may solve a few problems but not all. Is leaving him in charge the answer? Again it solves some problems. Keeping him may mean a few players go that perhaps shouldn't. Sacking him makes us look like what? We're slowing turning into Madrid. Toxic fans who turn on players and managers the moment something goes wrong. A revolving managerial door. And a habit of spending money like a drunken sailor down Pompey docks.

As a club we have lost our way, as some point out. Players have a poor mental attitude, some lack fight, drive, desire and a winning mentality. Not the United way. The manager is safety worst and reluctant to use youth. Not the United way. Owners chasing money and sponsorship. Not the United way.

The clubs badly run from top to bottom. Just changing manager or shipping out and bringing in players won't change anything. Its sticking plasters.

Say Jose does go. The new man comes, looks at the mess. Decides certain players have to go, even popular ones in here that seem to lack something (mentioning no names) would he quickly lose backing? Say by Christmas having eased 2-3-4 out the door and brought in his own players who know what he wants it the teams still struggling would he lose the backing?

Are we as a fanbase too far gone? Has success spoilt us too much? Are the next few years just going to be a continual cycle of a polarised fanbase constantly at war. Is there a manager out there mad enough to take the job?

Mort - good post but are not too far gone. Madrid demand the best, look at how they have performed on the main stage in recent years as a result? People slag off Madrid all the time for their sacking of managers but has any team done better than them?

If it's broke you give a manager time to fix it, if he is not fixing it quick enough or making it worse, then you try something else. Football is too competitive now money wise to allow yourself to stall for several years. We have immense resources, so we should be expecting the very best from our players and managers. We have to stand for something and Utd should stand for relentless attacking, we should be feared - we are not.

Obviously with teams like Watford etc it's a different kettle of fish, but for Utd we need to expect the best and be ruthless.

Madrid's approach has proven to be correct - and Zidane had won nothing before working for them, so going to old has-beens is also being shown not to necessarily be the way forward. Fresh approach, new ideas, somebody with something to prove is needed if we are to snap out of this lull. Zidane knows what it takes to be the best at Madrid, maybe we need somebody that embodies the Utd ethos.

Mort

If you had noted the comments a small number of us made on here before SAF left you would have known we spotted the same failings as with the Busby transition. Not saying it all over again but our planning for when the great man retired was utterly shocking. People cannot seem to comprehend the mess the last 7 to 9 years have been and will still deny it now.

I don't get why madrid fans are villified, we all as fans pay our hard earned money to the club, the reason utd is as big as it and makes so much money is because of us. Why can't we say we want to be entertained and we have to win, especially given the money the club spends. We are paying customers and we should have the right to criticize if we don't like what we are paying for.

Have to say the atmosphere in OT is terrible. The players come out and the stupid announcer plays loud music which completely drowns the noise of the crowd, then the music stops and the stadium is quiet. It is everything wrong about creating an intimidating atmosphere. Then the game starts and the place is quiet.
We as fans have to do a lot better. Hate to say it, but when you go to Anfield, the crowd are much noisier. This phenomenon is strange as our fans are superb away from home.
I'm not going into Mourinho as its not worth the effort.

Jose will win in the end he always does. The board support him and will sign any player he wants. We are in for an excellent 12 month's. In Jose we trust 😆😆.
