Is this some kind of a prank?

I actually really like Grealish but I don't think coming to us would be a good career move for him at this point.

Not directed at you deano but many people on here come with the argument that if this or that player was Spanish or Brazilian instead of English then maybe people will rate him higher. This I think is utter bs when you consider the fact that clubs have to pay twice the money for half talented players if they're English.
And British players haven't really set the football world on fire. On the contrary they have proved year after year that however highly they're rated, they just don't deliver (except a couple) . So people having doubts should be no surprise.

I certainly wouldn't be against signing him. I do think there is also a bit of snobbery because he plays in the championship. Even though players such as Ramsey, Zaha, Walcott and Bale have all played in the championship.

I would like the club to have a British core, clearly British players often lack the technical and tactical attributes that are common amoungst many foreign players. Yet British players I feel have a better understanding of British football and British culture. They also have less of an inkling to jump ship to one of the big two in Spain the moment the Spanish clubs show interest.

Although I feel technical ability and tactical understanding are two of the most important elements of a successful team. Fight, spirit and a bit of attitude are also needed to create a balanced team. These are things that have often been brought to our side by British players.

Grealish seems to have that attitude as well as being talented. Maybe working himself up from the championship might make him more grounded and focussed on his football.

I think it's fair to say he is probably the best player in the championship. So I wouldn't be against signing him.

{Ed001's Note - Ruben Neves, Maddison would both disagree that Grealish is the best midfielder in the Championship even on one of his infrequent good days.}

Deano. On the contrary. I would love us to sign english players but only if they're good enough.
Grealish has an attitude problem and Bruce will tell you that. Do we need another player that will create a bad vibe?

I think you can point the finger at most young players and say they have an attitude problem.

I'm not expecting everyone on board with this it's just the way i feel.

I live in Birmingham and pretty much all my mates are villa fans so I go to quite a lot of villa games (11 last season) and there has always been a bit in the game where grealish has got me on the edge of my seat I think he is quality and with the right nurturing he could be a superstar imo of course.

Deano where in Birmingham do you live mate? I’ve watched Villa a lot this season and grealish has been very good. Wouldn’t be a bad squad player and has the attributes to be a very good player. However, I would much rather see us give pereira a chance or even gomes. We have enough quality to promote from within instead of buying more potential.
