How dare United not sign a player we have no interest in. How dare United not sign a defensive midfielder when we don't need one. How dare United not sign a player before Liverpool.

This is getting embarrassing lads. The doom and gloomers have a point about the style of football being played. They have a point about the way the squad is run by Jose. But deary me, just because Liverpool announced a player (we had zero interest in) it's just another excuse to twist the knife yet again.

I'd imagine it was the same group of people who wanted Bakayoko over Matic because he was fresh and shiny after a good season at Monaco.

The window wasn't only open for one day. If the window closes and we haven't done well then that's fair game. But moaning because Liverpool sign a decent player is not cause for concern nor is it the end of United.

To be fair I don't think too many people are moaning.

I couldn't care less myself, plenty of players as good or better than Fabinho and we don't need another DM. We do need an RB but there are much better than him out there.

I'd take heart in the fact that Liverpool are getting praise for pulling this deal off under the radar - it shows that the media/ people in general aren't paying much attention to every move they make if they can do this. It'd be front page news for weeks if we even made a phone call inquiring - shows who the big boys really are.

Beast you and others further down the page are reminiscing about how we used to laugh at Liverpool's signings and now we should be replicating them.

In everyone's list of summer targets, no one put him in our wishlist. I wouldn't condone spending 40 million on a Matic back up when there are other more obvious areas of the squad that need to be addressed?

Can someone point out the moment when we went under Liverpools shadow?

If we are not looking to buy another midfielder then it may suggest that jose will look to promote youth. If that is the case then we may see Fosu Mensah get some more games in the middle of the park which I believe is his best position. However 2 midfielders are a must so I expect us to make movements for another after Fred is secured. I trust both the club an jose know their targets and are working on them quietly behind the scenes. let's just wait and see and not worry about our rivals. They will do good business and so will we. There are a lot of top teams in this league and we have to accept that they are also attractive prospects in their own right. It is not like the old days under Fergie where we only had to contend with arsenal and then chelsea came along, followed by city. 6 teams with financial might and world class managers fighting for the league. It is going to be very competitive next year.
