dazw that's the support our club looks out for from the fans. Even though its not great to watch, you still think its better than the others. that's my point. I understand that the loyalty towards the national team is greater but still the ckub expects similar standards from the fans when you support them.

Nothing mate. If people don't get what i am saying then there is no point going on. For all i care England can win the cup and all cups after thiis one. Just FYI, i have supported England in all comps prior to this one. I was aghast when Becks wss sent off, was down when Ronaldinho scored that lucky free kick, delighted when Becks scored the penalty against Argentina. Lampard's goal disallowed against Germany broke my heart similar to when Postiga's dink penalty sent England out. And who can forget Ronaldo wink.

All said, i want same passion and support shown towards the club as it is towards the national side.

UA,

It all comes down to expectation doesn't it, United are the richest club in the world, have won trophy after trophy for 20 years playing mainly decent football and often scintillating football, also a lot of us fans pay hard earned money to go and see them play so we expect more, we want success and a style of play that gets us off our feet.

Contrast that with England, as you say in your post, we have had a lot of disappointment over the years, many posters on this page will never have seen England get to this stage, it is unbelievable and of course the whole country is behind them, this young team is performing miracles and the passion is there for all to see. If the players play with passion then they will get praised, simple really.

UA i believe the reason for it is that in past tourneys eng were always one of the favourites. a team full of star names but they always failed (not in 66 though) . look at when they had becks scholes lampard stevieg rio cashley owen terry (these are the first eng players i watched) . some of the best in the world. what did they win, how deep did they go in major tourneys. compare that to this team now. the team now are underdogs. younger side with less superstars and performing above "expectations". that is the major difference. expectations. i believe the majority of us (united supporters) expect to win/ challenge (even though we are in a transition phase) and to play football the united way. as a society we have become very impatient and demand results. it would have been interesting to see if SAF would have kept his job if he was hired nowadays. i honestly think he would of been let go in his 2nd year.

England are not playing fantastic football but are clearly leaving everything on the field. If you have 11 players working their socks off, covering every blade of grass and crunching into tackles, it gets fans off their seats and pumped up. It unites fans.
Unfortunately United have players who are not working to the best of their ability all the time but season is more than 7 games at a world cup. It is not possible to be firing on all cylinders all the time.
I was happy we got to the quarters, delighted to be in the last 4 and this is the biggest chance I think we will ever have to win it. The whole country knows that. Its like when Leicester won the league its just this time, we are all Leicester fans.
