John Terry - out of contract. What are peoples thoughts on giving him a contract til the end of the season strictly as a defensive coach? You cannot deny he knew how to defend and how to organise a defense . So, not registering him as a player let's be clear on that .

A good players not necessarily a good coach. It wouldn’t surprise me though as it would draw attention towards the club and we know Ed Woodward’s good at that side of the job.

Personally thought he had terrible positional sense but had a good bit of pace to make up for it.

Better off asking Rio or Nev to sort defence out. 😆😆.

Never. The only way he should be getting that stadium now is as a paying customer either match day or museum tour.

As a person, he's marmite, BUT, when he went to villa 99% didn't want him, but fair play to him, he got the defence organized, improved the attitude of the players and got them playing for the jersey rather than trundling along, he also brought a calmness and reassurance as well both on and off the pitch, and not to be ignored was how he helped the younger players realise being a professional footballer is a privilege not an entitlement, so yeah, he could do a job at united but it would never happen i reckon because of his love for chavski and the history with united.

John Terry with terrible positional sense and pace to make up for it? I think you've got the wrong player mate. JT was one of the best at reading the game and was never blessed with pace. He wouldn't go near your club anyway even with Jose there.

Classof82, are you sure John Terry did all of that? You don't think the manager and coaching staff had anything to do with improving the abilities of the players they had?

I haven't read or heard of Terry ever being a good coach.

As we have seen with many top footballers they struggle when it comes to management/ coaching.

How do you teach someone something that came naturally to you? If you never had to learn the skills then how do you show someone how you learned them?

Generally the less able players make better coaches/ managers as they had to work harder at getting to the required level. So they have more scope to teach others.

If we want to bring in a former player to coach then I would look to one of our own first. They know what it means to play for our club. Also John Terry is an awful human being. We don't need a member of our coaching staff teaching our players how to racially abuse their opponents and sleep with their team mates wives.

Amazed Villa haven’t re-signed him for another season. Time for JT to head to the US I’d say.

Might make the players more hungry if they thought he might get near their wives?

Terry had awful positional sense an reading of the game. Another overrated because he was English and had "passion" and threw himself around like a headless chicken. 2nd most overrated English player of the prem era.

Shappy-if you asked any villa player if they'd take terry back, they'd bit your hand off for him, on a footballing level, i hate to say it, he'll make a brilliant manager, and that you can take to the bank.
