Happy new year all. Once again OGS says the obvious, and the mood lifts. Speaking about Sanchez, saying he is raring to go, and is finding the net in training regularly. all very well but the most significant comment is along the lines of - (paraphrasing) to get the best out of him we need movement in and around him, he thrives on that with the ball on the floor - Wow, hands up if you had never seen Sanchez at Arsenal playing exactly that way?

Hope we see the Sanchez we thought we were getting. Tough game tomorrow night -Shelvey usually plays like Pirlo against us.

I made a point about Sanchez some months ago, to get the best out of him we needed to push the back line up the field 10 yards and connect midfield with attack. Ole has done that in the old SAF way plus has them supporting each other better further up the pitch. Adding someone like Sanchez higher up the pitch with more support could bring dividends. Our problem remains defensively and leaving space behind will cause issues, DDG is not a sweeper keeper. I hope and expect the Arsenal Sanchez to turn up a bit like the Juventus Pogba has. Enjoy the ride tomorrow night!

Final nail in the Jose coffin if Sanchez comes back and bags 15 goals+ in the second half of the season - which he quite rightly should be doing if utilised correctly. He should be the No7 we have been waiting for as he is top quality. Fingers crossed.

Ole's just done the basics to get the best out of this set of players. We didn't have the right set of players to play the Jose way and he shouldn't have tried to shoe horn the wrong tactics in. Red man is right we still look a little shaky at the back but this style will work against 90% of teams.

I really believe Sanchez will be like a new signing if we keep playing this style of fast paced, pressured, attacking football.

The prospect of Pogba, Martial, Rashford and then Sanchez in this form is very exciting.

I hope we buy a high quality RB this winter and maybe a midfield maestro of Verratti's calibre.

I maintain there are questions over some of the players commitment levels for the previous manager. Yes Ole has been more positive but there was no excuse not to give everything when playing for the shirt. If Sanchez like Pogba suddenly becomes superman it raises questions whether some like it or not.

I take your point Red Man but, but let's say you were hired as a salesman and your managing director decided to deploy you as the accountant instead: you might be expected to fail however much effort you put in. Moreover it might be hard for you to maintain much enthusiasm for your work having first been set up for failure and then subsequently criticized in public for failing. Research suggests that someone unhappy in their work will not suddenly become happy in it just because they get a raise.

From the CEO down, through the manager and onto the field, the post-SAF period seems to have been a continuing sequence of trying to slot the wrong people into the wrong positions.

It isn’t about being happy but about putting effort in. We can all see that Mourinho’s tactics were too defensive but if the players gave everything and failed then it would be solely down to the managers tactics. If you were hired as a salesman and deployed as an accountant because the MD has seen something in you but you decide, it won’t work, you can’t be bothered because you don’t agree with the MD, what does that say about you?

You mention happy unhappy and pay, the research is very old from Maslow and Herzberg, pay is not a motivating factor.

I said on here before SAF retired the club needed a good plan but they didn’t seem to have one at all. It is from the owners down, the direction needs be one but it hasn’t been, it needs to be now. Football people who know football need to make the football decisions, I hope that is what is now being planned.

Sanchez hitting form is important for us in achieving top 4. A front 3 of martial, Rash and Sanchez would scare the opponents.
He also like Rashford, presses from the front and works his socks off.
