74% possession, 28 shots but only 6 on target, poor shooting, a bad Rashford miss, and a penalty that wasn’t given. Sh1t happens. We never stopped running, we never stopped attacking, we never gave up. The issue is the lack of depth in the squad, particularly given how OGS wants to play.

Lukaku looks lost and I don’t see where he fits in, we have Rashford and Martial who can rotate at CF and offer much more pace and variety. For the front 3 we have Lingard, Rashford, Martial, and hopefully now Sanchez joining the party. I love Mata and thinks he’s a great player but if he is to stay, a clear role needs to be found for him, he’s not a wide right player.

In midfield we lack options and you saw the difference with no Herrera last night. Pereira is highly rated by some but I’ve not seen the potential others are seeing. This isn’t about his mistake, he also looked lost.

The challenge is how we strengthen the defence, and also provide more options in midfield. I know I will be in the minority but I still want more from Pogba, I want him to grab games by the scruff off the neck and dominate them, I think it’s in him but he needs to take that final step up.

Great game, great comeback, typical United performance. Positive substitutions and on another day we would have won 4-0. We survived at Spurs and won, we dominated last night and lost. As the greatest ever team to play on the EPL found out last night at Newcastle, take nothing for granted.

Let’s see how we react to that loss, do we hang our heads or do we bounce back with renewed vigour? I’m looking forward to finding out.

I sympathise with AJH it was 2 points lost and felt like a loss.
