Just a quick post around buying ready made talent VS developing from our academy.

I see a lot of posts and media linking us with a RW, in particular Sancho, which would be a mouth watering prospect.

My only thinking is how would this affect Chong?

Would people prefer to get Sancho at the risk of loosing Chong?

I think we could accommodate both of them especially if Sanchez and Mata both depart.

In my opinion chong needs a couple of years of loan experience. 1 in championship or PL ( if anyone is interested) to get used to the pace of the English league and 1 year somewhere in Spain.
City has 2 world class players in almost all the positions and still I don't see players complaining or media coming out with stories of unrest. I don't think we should have any problem either if we buy someone for RW.

I wouldn't hold city up as the example, how many first team minutes is Foden getting? There is not really a route into the city or Chelsea first team for young players, why they keep going to those teams is beyond me.

It's a tough balancing act bring through youth players. One the one hand, you don't want to block their path entirely. On the other, you don't want it too easy for them. But in the end you have to make it competitive. They have to make it on merit. If Chong is good enough, then he needs to be patient and take his chance. Sancho is a fair bit ahead in his development and it's quite rare that someone so young, is playing regularly for a top club.

If you look at the class of 92, only Giggs was in the year as a 17 year old. The other lads were 19 and 20. There's no rush for chong right now. A loan move would do him good.
