Afternoon.

I must say, it's nice to see a few players on social media wishing LVG all the best in his retirement. I know he wasn't everyone's favourite but he did give Rashford his debut, signed Martial and brought Lingard into the United team as a regular and won the FA Cup.

I think he should be recognised as an important figure in Football and I think despite the football he played, he put in a lot behind the scenes that will go unrecognised in getting United back to being successful, especially with the youth.

Cheers Louis.

{Ed002's Note - Good for you.}

I always loved LVG, mad as a box of frogs but a great character. We got him far too late, he would have been a real success15 years earlier but then we had SAF.

Totally agree Ports. It is far too easy to overlook the good he did. He was a manager at big clubs for a reason and he did win us a trophy.

Best of luck to him in his retirement.

Louis Van Gaal was the best of the three managers since Sir Alex. He stamped his imprint on the team straight away, the players learned a lot from him, and what a character he was. He had an eye for young talent, and showed more imagination than Moyes or Mourinho. A true original.

You guys have a short memory. Nothing against the fella but do you not remember the boring sideways football. The man got sacked after winning us a trophy because no one could stand to watch the dull football he made the team play. All the best in your retirement Mr van gaal but let's not forget how glad we all were to see the back of him.

I also wish him all the best in his retirement and future endeavors.
I also found his tenure at utd the most boring time to be a utd fan.
