Morning. Disappointing result yesterday but pretty much reflects the last couple of weeks resulting in our season fizzling out. Time to start thinking about next season so last couple of games, no reason to not give Greenwood a chance in the squad and some minutes, allow Rashford an early preseason break to recharge, give Garner a chance in Midfield alongside McTominay.

But moving forward, recruitment this summer has never been so important to this club due to the unrest an uncertainty of individuals willingness to stay. With no CL football and stories of ''big name'' players wanting to leave, I don't believe we can rely on the Manchester United name to enthuse players to join us anymore.

So where do we go? Well having watched the highlights of Leicester v Arsenal last night, I'd be happy if we signed, Pereira, Tielemans and Maddison. I have mentioned Doherty from Wolves previously, there is Doucoure at Watford, Anderson and Rice from West Ham, Coady of Wolves or Keane at Everton. I know people will say we should be aiming higher but these players I believe would all improve our team and Solskjaer has said some of our players need a reality check, well to be honest us as fans do as well I think.

I do believe we will challenge for the title again in the next 3 years but not next year and not until we have a squad of players with a completely different mind-set and attitude to the current players. Once we have a bit more stability and consistency within the team, we will then go back to signing the higher profile players.

Good morning Ports,

Ok let's play fantasy football.

I think the last few weeks have been helpful in illustrating the problems within our Club. A cull is needed and the re building process must start this summer.

Pogba has presented us with a tactical dilemma since his arrival. Not disciplined enough in play in a midfield axis and not consistent enough to be given a free role. By selling him we might just burden ourselves of that problem and give the team more structure.

I think we need a fresh, new approach to our transfer policy where we look to recruit young, hungry, ambitious players who have proved themselves at other Clubs but are looking for the next step at a bigger Club. I also think it's important that we retain a British influence within the squad with players that all want to play for the Club.

With that in mind I think there is a group of very talented English players emerging who we should be looking at to help us re build our squad.

Next season I would look to revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation and in the summer I would target Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Declan Rice, James Maddison and Jadon Sancho. We also need a CB but I'd be inclined to promote Tuanzebe.

I'd sell Dea Gea, Pogba and even listen to offers for Lukaku. I'd get Sanchez out by any means possible and I'd also let Herrera, Mata, Rojo, Darmian and Valencia all leave the Club and try to get our wage bill under control.

Potential team for next season

Henderson, Shaw, AWB, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Rice, Mctominay, Maddison, Martial, Sancho and Rashford.

That's a young team full of energy, pace and mobility with a strong British core and influence. Maddison, Martial, Rashford and Sancho are all capable of hitting double figures so there should be goals in the team. We have players like Garner, Gomes and Greenwood knocking at the door, it's bold but exciting. They won't win the league immediately but if they all develop and grow together, continue to improve and play exciting football, we remain patient and add to the squad intelligently Pep and Klopp won't be around forever therefore we must be in a position to take advantage when the opportunity arises!

Interesting thoughts DLIB, but with the players let go I'd be concerned around how thin the squad would be and the lack of experience.

Id happily sell Pogba if Madrid are willing to pay £120-150m which in turn should be enough to but Saul and Wan Bissaka. Personally of those your happy to see leave I'd keep Mata and Herrera. Both are experienced, have a genuine affection for the club, and give their all.

I agree on Sanchez. And I'd also be willing to sell Lukaku to Italy. Sancho would be a great signing but I'd prefer Ndombele or Kante than Rice if possible. I also think a word class CB is needed whether that be Koulibaly, Varane or another.

I think we could improve this team with players from the prem, from the likes of Leicester, Wolves and Watford.

Id like to see come in:

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
CB: Toby Alderweireld (gives Tuanzebe a chance to come through over the next few years)
CM: Ruben Neves (although really unlikely)
AM: Bruno Fernandez
CM: Adrian Rabiot (free - but could cause issue - unsure what the actual issues with PSG are)
RW: Pepe/ Hirving Lozorno

Players that could be good alternatives:

RB: Doherty
RB: Piererra
CB: Wiley Bolly
CB: William Saliba
CM: Gueye
CM: N'didi
RW: Steven Bergwijn

That is 6 players in the door and I highly doubt that we will get 6 players in even if one of them is on a free.

Even David / brooks as a RW option! Lots of player on the next teir down in the EPL we should be cherry picking to fit a system.

we are in dream land if you thing we are going to be signing players like Sancho and the likes of varane.

we are in denial of how bad it actually is.

Ports i can't remember since fergie left probably even before that when a player signed for us because we are man utd. Were now the club that pays more wages than others that's why they sign. I personally would love us to get away from big name signings. But we also need to get away from over paying wages to players. There needs to be value in the players we buy. We have shaw and martial on mass wages because they have potential. Personally i feel it will be a hard summer to attract the types of players we need. Sorting sanchez pogba and ddg out are my main concerns for summer.

W16 and ports.
My view is that its nearly more important to rid ourselves of certain players than who we bring in to replace them.

Couldn’t agree more Ken.

I want rid of the players that are commanding good wages who are simply not good enough and any who don’t want to be at Utd and can cause an unhappy dressing room.

A deep push on the reset button is needed and a longer term plan of building something over 2-3 years is required.

29 Apr 2019 14:08:21
My view is that I’m not sure why ambitious hungry young players looking to make a step up to big club would be inclined to move to us.

Unless we can prove that club is ambitious, and genuinely hungry for success, our only draws are history and money. Our appointment of an unproven former player doesn’t help shed this image, and we need to recognise that there are reasons why the club is attracting players who lack desire and effort.

Henderson is nowhere near ready to be Utd's no.1. Potential, without a doubt. I'd do everything to keep Dave, and at a push, use Romero. But uf Dave goes, we need an experienced, premiership-proven keeper, and I'd be looking at the likes of Schmeichel.

Agree hoggy. Poison needs to be removed.

He is older and better suited to united than ddg was when he started at United noucamp there is no doubt about that.

13.) 29 Apr 2019
29 Apr 2019 19:03:29
I hope you mean Peter Schmeichel as Kasper belongs in the Championship along with Rojo.

We just need to stump up the cash for DDG - poty the last 5 years. If anyone deserves its him. With so many issues in our squad and club, the last thing we need is to replace a world class keeper right now.

14.) 29 Apr 2019
29 Apr 2019 19:13:59
The problem is Eric when you start paying a 28 year old goalkeeper 400K per week then soon enough everyone wants to be on 400k.

As good as DDG has been (and he has pretty much held this club on his shoulders for 4 years), we can't give in to demands like that.

{Ed025's Note - you did with sanchez shappy..

15.) 29 Apr 2019
29 Apr 2019 19:35:23
I’ve been harping on about that point for a while now shappy but people don’t seem to understand the implications of giving DDG such an astronomical wage. It’s all well and good saying oh just pay him whatever he’s world class. Then in two years time you have another crisis because your players all believe they are worth the same. It’s the short sighted actions and lack of planning that we don’t seem to be learning from. Spurs have shown you don’t need to pay ridiculous wages to be successful. Retain a wage structure, get rid of those that aren’t playing ball, and build a cohesive team with identity, passion and entertainment. Need to stop pandering to players demands and regain control of the club.

16.) 29 Apr 2019
29 Apr 2019 20:08:28
The ideal is ddg signs a deal that he and the club are comfortable with.
There is no way the club should pay more than they can sustain writhing the squad.
For 1 year now his form has been patchy is it all a distraction.

Its in the players hands does he want to stay here. If he does then take the best the club offer.
Paying ddg an extra 100k 5m a year per week could very soon cost 5 or 6 times that through other player negotiations using ddg as a benchmark.
100k players want 150 or 200. 200k players want 250 or 300k

I see where ddg's advisors saying pay him 20m a year and he will sign for 5 years. If you don't it will cost you 100m for oblak and 10m a year so 150 total plus fees. You can have ddg for 100m over 5 years with less risk.
But it will cost us more through other players.

This is the problem Ed025.

We threw money at Sanchez in an effort to get one up on City and bring in a big name.

No plan for how he would fit in with squad, the manager, or the impact it would have on existing players when they started looking for contract renewals.

De Gea has been our most important players since Fergie retired. Player of the season on multiple occasions. What do people think he’s going to do with his contract running out? Dave we have a bit part squad player, who is probably more helpful to the squad when he’s injured, on £350k per week, but we’re not going to offer you anything like that. Same situation with Herrera.

The club need to recognise the impact Sanchez’s salary has had on others at the club, and accept that it completely screwed our wage structure. Either pay De Gea the same or sell him, there’s no point in dragging it out.

{Ed025's Note - i agree with all of that danny and obviously they have made a rod for their own back with sanchez, there are also quite a few who are not pulling their weight and these need weeding out as well mate, its not a quick fix though and the supporters will have to be patient..

18.) 29 Apr 2019
29 Apr 2019 20:14:01
So should everyone be paid the same then, Park, because that's the implication. We all know the money's obscene, but there is always going to be a hierarchy of earners. Dave is our only world class player. He should be paid more than the others. Someone up above suggested it's silly money for a keeper. It's a specialist position, and you need a top class one to win leagues normally. For anyone who thinks they're not that important, look how we struggled between Pete and VDS.

Not sure Spurs being successful rings true either. They’re doing ok, but depends what you measure success as? No trophies or league titles means they’re not successful.
