I think the number of people upset/ angry about Ander Herrera leaving just highlights just how highly he was regarded by the United fan base.

With the level of disconnect between the fans and the squad maybe only 2 or 3 players at most could cause any sort of backlash from the fans. I think that is a major issue for the club going forward. They need the fans to love the players again.

Shappy I think what is making people angry is the fact Jones and smalling and young have all been given extensions when they are awful

Herrera might not he a world class name like your silvas and your hazards but he makes us better.

I for one will greatly miss Ander Herrera. He gave his all on the pitch, made his teammates better and loved the club. Winning teams have the world class players that make the highlight reels, but they also have guys like Ander Herrera who do the hard work and put winning above themselves.

Bolger, Hazard might call Herrera world class after the amount of time he's spent in his pocket.

Although I like most would choose to keep Herrera over those you mentioned, I can understand why the club looked to tie them down. With the homegrown quota that teams have to meet, losing homegrown players, even ones who might not be up to scratch, is a massive mistake.

Personally I'd like to see the club push through some deals involving "homegrown" players this summer. AWB, Rice, Maddison are all players I think could be excellent signings for us. The fact the club are supposedly looking as Daniel James might hint at that homegrown talent might be on the minds of the decision makers at the club.

Currently in the first team squad we have: Jones, Young, Smalling, Shaw, McTominay, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford. That's 8, we are required to have 7 or name a smaller first team squad. Adding a few will allow those not good enough to leave. But until they do, we might be stuck with them.

Herrera has been unable to nail down a starting spot under three different managers and his inconsistency has mirrored that of the Club. He's enjoyed periods of good form but in reality and if we're honest he's been relatively disappointing.

If we're now basing our love for a player because they simply try hard it just emphasises what a bunch of mercenaries we have in our team and the reason we find ourselves in this malaise. Working hard, trying your best and giving your all for the Club, your team mates and the fans is the most basic requirement needed to play for our great Club. We are allowing ourselves to be disrespected by players earning more money than some small countries economies and they can't even be bothered to run. If you can't show some hunger, desire and commitment when you pull on that red shirt then you have no business being at the Club. Sell the lot and start again.

Herrera at least fulfilled that very basic obligation better than most but he's been paid handsomely and the honour was his to have had the opportunity to represent our great Club. He's not an International, he's no where near one of the top midfielders in the Prem never mind the World and I'm not sure why PSG want to pay him so much money to sit on their bench. They are a Club similar to ours filled with overpaid and entitled charlatans and pre-madonnas who they have to bribe with untold riches to get them to play in an uncompetitive league. They all invariably choke when they have to play some decent teams and show some grit, determination, heart and commitment.

Fellaini always tried his best but didn't command the same out pouring of grief. Valencia has never let the Club down yet I haven't read a single post thanking him for his loyal service. Shame on us, He's leaving tomorrow as well. I agree we should all show our respect but he's chosen to leave and we move on.

Henderson, tuanzebe, fosu mensah, garner, gomes, chong and greenwood. If even 50% of this group were of some quality they would be more useful than smalling, jones and young.

We are stuck with jones and smalling now as no one will pay their wages and transfer fee.
