Reports stating we will battle city for maguire. personally i'd let pep have him. don't see the hype, certainly isn't what we need beside lindelof.

maguire is decent on the ball and decent in the air.


but his marking, positional play and general reading of situations is poor.

he is better than jones smalling and rojo but is it worth the risk for the price being thrown around.

he knows the prem wouldn't take a season to be settled in but i'm not convinced he is what we need.

I'll admit I don't like Pep but he's good at what he does. So if rumour is true and he wants Maguire as Kompanys replacement then he must see something?

I'm not saying we should be in for him. But if other targets are unobtainable and its a choice no-one and a year of Smalling and Jones. Or getting Maguire in. Then you spin the wheel an place your bets.

Mort, like what he saw in Claudio Bravo, Affelay, Nolito, Benetia, Hleb, Gotze, Keirrison, Manuel Pinto, Kirchhoff, Chygrynskiy etc.
Not saying he doesn't make good signings, but like every other manager, he can be prone to mistakes.
