Many of us here want to sell lukakau but personally i like the guy. Hardworking and has an eye for goal. I admit he has first touch of a bull but if supplied enough chances, he can easily score plenty of goals. Unfortunaly, we don't create enough. Hopefully, it will change next season.

He has outrageous stats for club and country. It definitely tells us that he is not the striker we should be looking to sell.

He doesn't fit Ole's style unfortunately.

Makes sense for us to let him leave and excel in a team that he fits into instead of forcing him into our system.

If we do not sign a striker, we should allow Rashford and Lukaku to fight it out for the spot.
Currently only he has the natural instinct of a striker when compared with Rash or Martial.

However, Lukaku looked unfit towards the end of last season. He must improve on that to be considered in the first team.

Agree with DSG. What is OGS style, because I'm totally confused and as long as Phelan is next to him, then we'll have no attacking style.
One thing i will say though, Dan james looked very good last night on left wing. So maybe that will help Lukaku if he stays.

I think Ole's style is the style he played in glory days. Getting lots of threatning crosses from the wings into the box and fast counter attack. I don't know about counter attack but lukaku is definitely suited to the previous approach.

Got to echo DSG’s question here. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Ole has a ‘style’. The way that we played for 95% of the game time under Ole was like a poor imitation of Joses style. Given that RL was signed specifically to fit that style, I’m not sure how anybody can say that RL doesn’t fit it. When he plays, he scores goals. I think the real problem is that Ole just doesn’t like him for whatever reason. If that’s the case I wouldn’t like to see him sold as I don’t see Ole sticking around past Christmas. Letting Lukaku go without signing a replacement would be yet another huge mistake by the club as he is our best striker by some margin.

I'm not entirely sure on what style Ole is going to go for but it's obvious he doesn't favour Lukaku. Rashford seems to be 1st choice now and I doubt Lukaku will want to sit on the bench for us.

Lukaku is a good player, you don't score as many goals as he has at his age without being a good footballer. He has areas of weakness, his first touch is poor and his movement can do with some work. However, he is a hard working player.

My opinion of him last season was that he bulked up too much over the summer and he lost some mobility, pace and stamina. As a result he struggled, especially as the season wore on. That said he now has 25 goals in his last 23 games for Belgium, although it must be easier to come by chances when your playing with Hazard and De Bruyne.

If he can slim down, regain some stamina and mobility he can be a very good player for us. He is more suited to playing with a partner up front either as a pair or with a No.10 playing close to him. He doesn't suit the lone striker role. He needs people close to him.

That said if he doesn't suit what Ole wants to do then it might be best for him to move on.

Shappy I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about how Belgium have great supply lines to Lukaku. We don't. Give him the service he needs and he will score loads. I agree too that he needs to lose bulk but his first touch is nowhere near as bad as some make out.

Keep him if we aren't going to replace him otherwise selling him without a replacement would make us struggle for goals next year as we don't know if Rashford or Martial. is going to hit form! .

Its symptomatic of the recruitment problems. Players bought for specific managers who are then discarded by the next manager rather than players bought for specific systems or styles.
