I would seriously worry if we went into a 6th consecutive season without a credible right winger. We need to take some attention away from that left hand side as currently we are so one dimensional.

We all know mata can not play there successfully even if he has one of the best goal and assist ratios and its asking a lot of dan james to start there reguarly.

I think you could have a point about De Gea Shappy but if anyone deserves £350k per week at Utd it's him. He's been our only world class performer since SAF retired. At 28 his reflexes shouldn't deteriorate too rapidly and goalkeeper is one of those positions which you kind of take for granted when you have a great one but are left scratching your head and screaming in frustration when you don't. I wouldn't write him off just yet and finding a good keeper is notoriously difficult. We'll miss him when he's gone.

I like Diop the boy is an athlete and has potential but he's still very raw. I'm not sure getting him out of West Ham will be cheap and anything north of £60m represents a big risk. As it stands I'm not convinced he's any better than what we've already got although I accept he has potential. In my opinion we should target Maguire, the bloke is a proven, consistent performer, he's strong, robust, great in the air and good on the ball. I think he'd make an excellent partner for Lindelof. I'm surprised you don't rate him and when looking for a CB I think we must also consider who would make the best partner for Lindelof. Maguire would add some much needed steel as Lindelof sometimes struggles with the physicality of the premier league and isn't as dominate in the air. Maguire also plays on the left side meaning Lindelof could continue to play on his favoured right side.

I really like Madison I think he'd be an excellent addition but getting him and Maguire out of Leicester this summer isn't going to happen.

I must confess I know nothing about Haller.

I'll get absolute pelters for this but I don't think we need the churn that some desire. I think the re-build should be done slowly and methodically with planing for the next 2-3 windows already in mind. Whilst planning for the future we must also take care of the present.

Our aim next season should be to play a more exciting and expansive brand football whilst laying the foundations for the future. We can forget the title, finishing 3rd or 4th is a realistic target and I see us battling in our own little mini league with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs for Champions League qualification.

If I held the reigns of power at Old Trafford I'd target AWB, Maguire, Fernandes and Nicolas Pepe. Apart from the latter we've been linked with all those players and all are available for the right price.

I'd definitely look to offload Sanchez, Darmian, Rojo, even Pereira, TFM and some others around the periphery of the squad.

I'd keep Pogba and Lukaku. I can hear the gasps and groans but replacing them both is this window would be a mistake. I don't think we'll get the money we want for Pogba and whilst I constantly hear we should only retain players that want to be at the Club top level sport is slightly more complicated that that. Pogba signed a contract and as a professional athlete he'll understand that he probably doesn't hold the negotiating power until next summer. I'd expect him to leave next year for Madrid but if he helped us to a top 4 finish whilst allowing Fernandes to settle we could look to replace him next year.

With regard to Lukaku replacing his goals would be difficult. I see no reason with a good pre season why he couldn't compete with Rashford for a starting position. It will allow us time to assess Daniel James and Greenwood and we'll know more much about Rashford and Martial by this time next year.

De Gea, AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Martial, Pepe, Rashford.

more concerned about going into the season without a goal scorer.

Maguire is not the answer. Another example of one good tournament for England and the media hype them up. I don't even think he's Leicesters best defender. If he is worth 70+ million then all of us are worth 20 million minimum.

Maguire is an upgrade, but not one that is worth anywhere near the 90m it would cost to sign him. He would solve the issue of dealing with high balls. But his positioning is awful he often gets dispossessed in dangerous areas and he isn't particularly quick. He would be a bad signing.

Pogba has to go regardless of talent has he has proven he will be a disruptive influence if he doesn't get his way.

Pepe has a huge price tag and a questionable attitude. Too much of a risk considering that the key thing for us this summer is getting people in with the right attitude while moving those on with the wrong attitude.

Dazw- I don't buy into this theory about players not wanting to play for the Club, he's a professional footballer not a fan. He might see his career elsewhere which is understandable but for those that think it will be plain sailing once he's gone are about to get a reality check. I have no issue selling him this summer if the money is right and we get adequate replacements but I have no faith that will happen and we'll be left with a gaping hole in midfield. I understand this is an unpopular point of view but if we let the likes of Pogba, Lukaku and De Gea all leave in the same window without adequate replacements I fear we'll plummet down the table and be in crisis before Christmas. I want OGS to succeed and for him to do that I think he's needs a long term plan and keeping the likes of Pogba for another season will help him more than hinder him. We're not talking about a team going for the title but looking to finish 4th so he can build for the future. I think Pogba will give him enough moments over the course of the season to help him achieve that.

Dannyc - I don't subscribe to media hype I am fully capable of assessing players for myself. I have no idea why we get obsessed with figures. Like I've posted before value has nothing to do with it. Leicester don't want to sell, he's under contract so if we want him we have to make them an offer they can't refuse. The same will apply with Diop at West Ham. In my opinion Maguire at £80m is a safer option than Diop at £60m for the reasons I have given in my last post.

Rogie6 - If I was in charge that would be an option I would be looking at. Everyone else is seemingly being priced out of a move. I haven't totally given up on Bailly just yet and Tuanzebe maybe needs another year on loan so a short term option at a reasonable cost makes sense.

Shappy - I think your assessment of Maguire is very harsh. I've watched a lot of him and his positioning isn't that bad. Many people accused VVD of having the same problem. From what I've seen of Diop his positioning is equally as suspect. I accept he's a younger player but a lot of his highlights are making last ditch tackles having been caught out of position. I think he's got potential but to get him out of West Ham will cost a fortune and on currently ability I'm just not sure he's that much better than what we've got. Maguire is an honest, solid professional, he does the basics well and I just think he'd compliment Lindelof beautifully.

I know nothing of Pepe's bad attitude but it's not stopped him scoring plenty of goals from a position that we are woefully short.

Football is all about opinions, I see the merit in all your points and look forward to debating where people think we'll finish once the window has slammed shut on the 8th August. Enjoy the rest of your weekend boys.
