Ed, how can Chelsea sign Kovacic under a transfer ban? Was something written into the initial loan contract? If it’s an option to buy wouldn’t they have to agree the deal before the ban was in place like they did with Pulisic?

{Ed002's Note - It is not a matter that is for discussion.}

It was a loan with the obligation to buy if Chelsea wanted it. The deal was agreed before they received the ban and he was already at the club. They couldn't go out and buy a player now who had no connection with the club.

{Ed002's Note - Absolute rubbish about MK. Just drop it.}

It is about registration not transfers. Chelsea could go out and sign 10 players if they wanted to, like Barcelona did with Turan and Vidal but they wouldn’t be able to play.

As MK was registered as a Chelsea player already I am assuming that is why he will be able to play next year. Who knows Chelsea may yet win an appeal and the ban may get thrown out.

I'd imagine as part of the loan agreement, that was signed before the transfer ban, would enable Chelsea to sign him as a deal was already in place.

I forgot to add. Kovacevic is a Chelsea player, so why all the fuss.

Maze is correct, I don’t get why people answer a question when they don’t know the answer, it is about registration, as he is already registered with Chelsea he can continue to be registered, they can’t register anybody new.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Kovacic was already registered as a Chelsea player so they can sign him and he can play straight away as he was currently registered.
