I know we did well yesterday, afterwards its a difficult fixture away from home and we did nothing wrong as such to lose 2 points (apart from the penalty) .
However Would like to point out Lingard with his performances for united over a year.
Jesse Lingard, Goal or an assist?
May-18 : NO
Aug-18 : NO
Sep-18 : NO
Oct-18 : NO
Nov-18 : NO
Dec-18 : 4 Goals 2 Assists
Jan-19 : NO
Feb-19 : NO
Mar-19 : NO
Apr-19 : NO
May-19 : NO
Aug-19 : NO

But people think just because he runs a lot he is a a great player. I've lost counts of chances he has bottled in the box (2 last night) .
We are so thin in terms of squad depth that we have to stick with such players, also what do we have as Plan-B? Pereira and Mata?

Ed's thoughts on Lingard?

{Ed004's Note - I feel the club has let Ole down in the summer by not signing attackers. I think we will struggle to score this season. To start a season with Lingard as first choice is not good enough}

I think in a title challenging team Lingard would be a useful squad player able to come on do a job in certain games.

He works hard, is tactically astute and able to play across all the forward positions. He lacks a certain something to make him first team material though.

Currently he is better than anyone else in our squad in the No.10 for the style Ole wants to play. The club should have bought a better option in the summer. Yet Angel Gomes could end up being the perfect player for that role. So buying someone would have put an extra body in his way to the first team.

I'm confident that Gomes will be first choice by the end of the season.

Is Gomes maybe more capable of playing that no.10 role or too soon?

I think he is ready to play some games, but he needs easing in. Physically getting him to play 30+ games at senior level will not be good for his body. But talent wise he is ready.

Agree with Ed004.
The board has let down Ole by not signing a midfielder and an attacker.
Imagine the same team with Pepe on right wing and Bruno at no 10.
The squad would have been at a different level.

Ole has the right ideas. The transition from defence to attack, pressing, playing out from the back and the overall energy and team spirit is exciting to watch.

But now players such as Andreas, Greenwood, Gomes etc, have a genuine chance to cement their place in the team. It's upto them to fight and seize the chance.

I feel sorry for Lingard. He puts in so much work and effort into his celebrations but isn't getting the chance to show those silky moves. I think we should make him the designated goal celebrator for the team. He will entertain the crowds and pss off the opposition. Moreover he doesn't even need to be in the team, he can just replace Fred the red. Of course we can still pay him 200k per week.
