Shappy i agree with some of that.
Nobody can ask for more than 100%.
However when its obvious that that 100% is not enough to deliver good results on a consistent basis then get rid.
There are millions who would give 100% but very few that can make a difference.
No problem Giving players a go. No problem giving them time no problem with them making mistakes.
But after a sustained period if they are not good enough to make a consistent positive contribution like fletch and evans them get rid like we did with welbeck who was a flop for the gunners or cleverly who couldn't get a game for Everton and now can't get one for Watford or januzai who is nowhere or macheda who disappeared.
If you can't prove your good enough get rid simple as that.
Chances have to be given but they also have to be taken.
No point having a go at supporters who are having a pop at a forward players who has not scored or assisted for 18 months.

Hi ken,

I always like reading your posts but on this occasion I’m abit bemused as to what players you are on about.

If you mean Lingard then it isn’t his specific job to score or assist he’s there to link play together and get between the lines. Do I think he should score more? Yes. Should he assist more? Yes. But as for him not contributing I think he does a good job.

That's it there in a nutshell Ken,
But ole should have demanded during the summer that we need another midfielder, and this thing ole said the decide between them who takes the pens, for me the manager has to stand up there and say rash your my penalty taker.

Who's that Ken? Lingard got 6 goals/ assists in December only 8 months ago. 18 months? Hyperbole much? 😂

Also who do you think we could play who would provide more for the team in that position than Lingard?

Brilliant post Ken, Love for the academy lads is fine but one needs to know that if they aren't performing for a longer period then get rid of them. We as club have made positive strides by addressing two problematic areas, let's move in that same direction. Buy/ Promote players who can make an impact or can make a difference.

When did Lingard become Cantona? Showing the younger players that hard work pays off? The man is a clown, he's a jester. Watch any interview with the team from any preseason and they all talk about how J Lingz is up for the bantz. This is all well and good when you're a kid but he's 27.

He's a coward on the ball and he's worse off it. Running around should be the bare minimum for any player, not the reason you're in the team. Someone said on a previous post that he doesn't do the fancy role in the team? He's playing number 10 for Man Utd. It's the fanciest position on the pitch. The world's best ply their trade there and we have an impostor in there.

Football fans are fickle. If he was tearing up trees than his off field nonsense would be glossed over. But the fact is he's a poor footballer who gets the swan around with the Man Utd crest on his clothes acting like a 15 year old.

His influence in the dressing room can only be a bad thing for the younglings. Hopefully none of our youth dream of being Jesse Lingard and learn from his mistakes.

Growing up under the shadow of Old Trafford doesn't make you immune to criticism. Fans were wary of Rashford leading the line because he may not have what it takes to be our main man.

No player gets a free pass. Youth graduate or not. Lingard is a poor footballer.

Gazza/ Shappy, Don't know what planet football you guys have been watching but from where i come from if you are playing at #10 then your primary job is just not linking play. You are there to provide assists and score goals as well.
Eriksen and KDB have got all their basics wrong it seems.

Sorry shappy i got my info from posts below. Not sure who posted the stats.
If you go back i have always maintained jessie is a decent squad player who had a place here. He can do a few jobs well but none expertly so squad player yes but consistent starter no.
I would not play a system that doesn't suit players at my disposal shappy that's not a good idea.

Its hard to suggest what to do from my position to be honest unlike you i do not know each player personally and i don't get to see them train like you do every day and talk to them to know what they are feeling and thinking like you do every day. 😂😂😂
i'd maybe play pogba higher or persist with periera but i wouldn't play jessie there. Very little guile and invention or vision key attributes for playing that position.

People wanted rid of martial and rash not that long ago, let's see how that turns out.
We have Greenwood gomes and tuenz at the moment who could break through this season .
A couple of bad games tho and they will be labelled not united class .

10.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 11:34:24
Lingard is a useful squad player. But he clearly lacks the attributes needed to be a no 10. I have never seen him play a defence splitting pass.
He will probably be benched soon if his end product doesn't up his game.

Gazza cheers pal.
Jessie has been playing rw or 10.
Its a key part of his role to create and score.

21 Aug 2019 11:53:14
I don't think martial is united class. He has a lot to prove imo, but, he is going the right way about it. 2 goals in 2 games is the best way for him to answer critics and sceltics like me.
Id love to see him get 30 goals this season.

Would you believe the class of 92 had more players than butt neville x2 scholes and becks.
Should we have kept them all shappy?
Or just the ones that proved themselves good enough.

I mean russle beardsmore would have been better than messi if we had given him another 5 year contract.

{Ed047's Note - if Lingard was playing for another club, 100% you would not want him and you’d be deriding that clubs fan base if they tried to say he was any good.

15.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 13:29:22
Ken is completely right.

Lingard is 26 year old mid table player. There isn’t a single other top club where he would get regular playing time, but because he’s an academy darling he’s in the first eleven.

All the United old boys like to pretend he’s a ‘young’ player but he isn’t. He should be one of the senior and most consistent players in a young squad, but he’s a child who doesn’t produce nine times out of ten.

16.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 13:43:06
Fans on here would of wanted rid of at least butt and p Neville.
Scholes in his early days especially when playing as striker would of been labelled not united quality.
And the transfer window when we moved on ince and co to give the 92ca chance would of put the doom and gloomers in to overdrive .

21 Aug 2019 14:16:12
I don't think that's true jred.
But its funny you should say that because you have always maintained you can't compare the 2 eras.
Unless of course its fits your narrative. Is that the way you say it?

18.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 14:26:47
I'm not comparing eras, i'm talking about some of the fans on this page . Try and work it out.

Lol I like the way that the person who is quoting false stats on one hand is accusing someone of posting something to fit their narrative on the other. Strange.
Also the level of passive aggressiveness is unreal in some of his other posts on this thread.

20.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 15:35:28
ED47, Grealish would be the best example if we want to compare Lingard in some other team.

{Ed047's Note - becks I wasn’t really comparing as such, just indicating you need a lot better. Even as a squad player you want them to make a difference.

I’m glad we’ve moved Iwobi on and would like to see the same for Mustafi, Xhaka, Miki, Elneny and to a slightly lesser degree Özil.

None bring enough to the party and if you keep settling for players like that you never or only really slowly move forward.

Wasn't Scholes top scorer in his first year I think. The squad with the class of 92 was littered with quality. We were pushing on for major honours on all fronts. All those players delivered consistently for years. Even the ones that eventually left had magnificent careers with us.

My poor opinion of Lingard isn't because of one or two bad games. It's because I have watched him every week for the last 6 years and bar a 3 minute YouTube video highlights, he has been poor for us. Ed047 is spot on. I'd struggle to name a few teams in the league that he would start consistently for.

Can someone please list his qualities for me in case i'm being totally irrational here?

22.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 16:24:55
You are not being irrational here mumbles.
You can only call what you see.
That does not make you a bad fan.
That does not mean you don't love your club or team
It does not mean others are better fans than you.
Dont listen to the silly Billy's and the know alls.
You are entitled to your opinion and you are entitled to voice it. i'm sure you don't expect or indeed demand that everybody agrees with you.

regardless of what you think of Jesse, ask yourself is it his fault? Is it his fault he gets picked and has done consistently under 3 managers? Is it his fault we didn’t sign the player everyone wanted. I personally wanted to see Bruno Fernandes in that role. He hasn’t come in, so fair enough, we move on with what we have.

Alexis Sanchez for the number 10 role? The man has come here for the money and nothing else. He’s done, people would complain if he blocked a players path.

How does anyone know Jesse is a bad influence on players? Are you in the dressing room to know that? We aren’t. You would like to think of he was unprofessional or a bad influence he would be gone, so maybe not. He did top all the pre season tests apparently.

He didn’t have a good season last year, did anyone really? Certain players had good periods- as did Jesse. The amount of stick the lad is getting on here and elsewhere is a bit ott for me. Like I said yesterday, there are better players than Jesse out there. It’s more a sign of poor recruitment that he is our main number 10.

It’s a bit sad seeing people think he should get a free pass because he’s from the academy, that is simply not true. People see he’s giving his all for the club we all love. If I remember correctly that’s what everyone wanted?

Give the lad a break and support our TEAM. It’s not his fault we haven’t recruited someone better to play in his position is it?

26.) 21 Aug 2019
21 Aug 2019 17:32:34
If Scholes was 26 and still failing to perform on anything close to a consistent basis, people would have wanted him out too.

He has had years to show that he’s good enough for a top 6 team, he isn’t, and if the club had done its job in the transfer window and brought in an attacking mid he would be nowhere near the first 11. He’s a lingering reminder that the club hasn’t brought in enough attacking quality.
