Hi Ed001,
How do you analyze OGS's record against the top sides.
In your perspective, what is he doing differently against these sides.

Also do you think he is growing in his current role or will he be given time to grow in the role ?
Do us fans deserve to be optimistic or is it a false dawn again ?

{Ed001's Note - he is not doing anything differently, they are (as in the top sides) and it suits the way Ole plays. Top sides come out to attack you, which leaves space to counter into, lesser sides sit deep and try to counter on you.

I don't see that anything has changed at all. I have seen nothing that makes me think he is doing anything special. You have a goalkeeper that was the best in the world until recently and a world record fee spent on a centre-back, a top class defensive right back, but you struggle to defend and are wide open. It just seems like expectations have been lowered by fans and excuses made for mediocrity because Ole was a hero as a player.

However, fans have every right to be optimistic. There are a lot of young players being bedded in and there will be money made available to spend. It is not a either or situation in terms of optimism and false dawns. You can be optimistic, even if you are not looking like you have the right man to lead you back to the top. At least he has put things back on an even keel and stopped most of the rot. There are still signs of things getting better in the long term.}

One of the papers did a mini League this morning of the games where the top 6 have payed each other. United were level top with Liverpool, miles ahead of the other 4. That says we are good enough but need to find a way to break sides down.

{Ed002's Note - Actually, it doesn't mean anything.}

Liverpool were like that for the last 20 years. They always turned up against the big boys. The battered us 4-1 at Old Trafford and Gerard ran over and kissed the camera. 3 months later Gary Neville was kissing the premier league title.

You play 38 games and you finish where you deserve. I would rather wins against Bournmouth, West Ham, Newcastle, Palace, Wolves, Sheffield United and Villa than beating Spurs and City.

Wonderful performances, but don't come out if we drop points against Everton with the same old excuses. The team has shown what they can do. If Ole can't get that out of them more often than not, then get a manager with a history of improving players.

Means nothing or not much more than nothing ajh imo. There are 19 other teams in the leagueif we only perform v 6 of them it won't get us very far.

Im not suggesting that we can't do better only that we havnt done.
Playing teams who us attack suits the way ole sets his team out. It suits our players strengths. But he has not found a system yet or seems to struggle to adapt our system to play against teams who don't give them acres of open space to run into.
That's the key part of the job of any coach.
Lets hope ole and the players can figure it out. I have some renewed hope that they can but my confidence is fragile.

Ole is training us for the European Super League. We only beat the big teams, we'd be champions every year!

Are spurs a top team that come out and attack? People always making these sweeping statements .
City attacked left space we exposed it .
Spurs where typically Jose sat deep and played long ball after long ball .
Injuries have hurt us and a lack of form from players and the team for various reasons .
Rashford for example is playing well at the moment regardless of it's a team that are in the so called top 6 or an international team. Same goes for a few others .

There’s definitely been an improvement for me. This is seen by us scoring more goals and creating more chances. Hopefully we can get a bit more consistency now which is what is letting us down.

Yes spurs are a top team that come to attack. Cl finalists. Scoring more goals now than they were weeks ago too. They did attack us and left space galore behind their rb which was well exposed.
Its not a sweeping statement our results accident better sides shoes that as do our results against lesser teams because we have not been breaking them down often enough.
