Shows what a portly run club we are. OGS saying Alexis will come back and prove everyone wrong - why let him go then when the squad is so light on any quality.

Secondly, OGS says Rojo going nowhere - 24hrs later he's off to Estudiantes.

Or, does this just show what we all know. Press conferences by managers are a total waste of time and nonsensical.

A lot of things can change within 24hrs.

Everthing Ole says are not meant to happen.

Sanchez may or not return. Better we wait and see what happens, still long way to go betwen now and the summer.

Ole future also is not decided, so nothing to worry about what he keeps saying.

We’ve been a portly run club since Shaw signed.

There are things a manager can and can't talk about openly in a press conference.

Until deals are finalised, either coming or going then its not a good idea for the manager to say something until its official.

Imagine if he said Rojo was leaving then the deal collapsed, how would all involved feel/ look?

Sanchez was moved out of the club on loan because they couldn't sell him. If Ole then comes out and says a player still contracted to the club has no future at the club then how does that effect the player and the clubs ability to find a buyer?

Press conferences are to say this guy is fit, this guy isn't. This player has done well, something about the up coming game, but nothing tactical.
It's an exercise in creating a sound bite to sell the up coming game and create a narrative, but to do so in a way that doesn't have any chance of threatening the stability of the club.

Don't listen to anything a manager says during a press conference, or at least don't put any store in to what they say.

Only the stupid managers, or the managers trying to get sacked say anything controversial or enlightening.

Imagine Fergie saying it and you’re already thinking 🤔 yep keeping the value up on Alexis.

Ole comes across like a clown but it’s obvious he’s not going to say ‘yes we can’t wait for Alexis to be back in full payroll and in the physio office. He WhatsApped me that can’t wait to get the dogs out of kennels and take up Rivington’.

Bang on Shappy. As far as I can make out, these press conferences and after match interviews are part of the EPL marketing program, and are compulsory. Most of the time managers would probably prefer not to give them, and sometimes, when they are under real pressure, after an abject performance for example, it must be an ordeal from hell.

I have watched just enough to know (maybe 3) that they get asked a lot of very boring, repetitive and often completely inane questions, and that answers to all sensitive topics have to be skirted around. Total waste of time if you ask me.

It's like when people call Ole a Glazer puppet or a yes man for what he says in the press.

Was Sir Alex a weak minded little yes man? Absolutely not, yet he did say things in the press such as "no value" in the transfer market. Fact is managers will say what they need to say to maintain a level of stability and happiness within their squad of players.

Good managers don't rock the boat, at least not publicly.

I think you answered your own question, Eric.
