Great piece ed and suggestion MBD.

Schmeichel was something else wasn't he? No wonder it took so long to replace him.

{Ed001's Note - possibly the best of his generation.}

Ed001, What is your opinion on what the future holds for DDG?

I feel that his outstanding quality is his reflexes which enables his sometimes impossible shot stopping ability.
However, reflexes are one of the first things that deteriorates as a player ages. I feel DDG could go a similar way to his to former international teammate Casillias, who was in my opinion a similar keeper (great shot stopper, but lacked top end ability in other key areas) . Once Casillias's shot stopping ability dropped in his early thirties he was an average keeper at best.

So do you think something similar could happen with DDG?

{Ed001's Note - I think he has lost something from his game that is for sure. However I am of the opinion it is mental rather than physical. Casillas was the same, it wasn't age that caused the problem, it was his arrogance that meant he was not pushing so hard in training. De Gea does not look comfortable to me, knowing what we know about his personal life, I think he needs to leave and go back to Spain. You have Henderson, who is proving himself ready at Sheff Utd, so it is time to bite the bullet imo.

The problem is that I do not believe the club would consider letting him go right now. I think it would be too much with the almost certain sale of Pogba. They seem to think it is weak to sell players unless they want rid.}

Ed001 is right, to me it looks like someone at the club doesn’t want to let players go as it may reflect badly on them. It seems someone’s ego is too big to be decisive.

I remember a certain striker always scoring against Schmeichel. He said himself, he was the best striker he faced.

ED001,

It's a shame that the club don't realise that by selling Pogba and DDG that they would get funds to reinvest in the team. Henderson is ready to be number 1. Even Romero is good enough to be number aswell.

Pogba has never really put in a shift for the club. He sulks far too much for my liking. Instead of getting g stucknin and leading by example, he just whines.

Certainly some bad apples at Utd still.

{Ed001's Note - you are better off having happy players that try than ones that really don't want to be there. The only time it could work is if you have some kind of agreement that they give you a season and then you will try your best to get them the move of their choice. Then they have a clear plan to get out and can put their all into it.}

Cracking read. Being a goalkeeper myself. We have been lucky to have 3 of the best goalkeepers to have ever played the game.

Honest opinion here but the only other goalkeeper that really stood out to me is Gigi Buffon (more for his consistency off around 20 years) . Wonder what your thoughts on Gigi (especially during his prime in the 00s)

What other keepers would other people loved to see at United?

{Ed001's Note - Buffon is especially outstanding when you consider he carried a back problem through most of his career.}

I didn't know that. Very interesting. Suprised he not resorted to a zimmerframe yet lol. How many years has he got left. Does he retire this summer?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he announced it a while back that he would retire in the summer. From what I have been told, and the few highlight clips I have seen, he probably left it a year late though to be honest.}

Yeah got to agree. Should of retired after the first time he left Juve. The last few years haven't been kind to him.
