Interesting that when questioned about what's happening with Angel Gomez Ole allegedly replied that he had heard nothing and presumed there was no deal with Utd. Now I know the manager leaves negotiating to certain people within the club but if the Daily Mail report is correct and Gomez signs for Chelsea it will show once again how bad we are at transfer dealings. The lad is clearly talented and if Chelsea value him and cover him then surely we should not be losing him at all worse still to a direct rival.

More importantly if Ole does not know what's going on that worries me. Surely as manager you would want to have your finger on the pulse. That's does not mean he has to do the negotiation but he should be aware of how advanced or not it is.

Sounded to me like he was aware, which was that unless there had been some sudden change of heart by the player, he was off.

Sigh, what has Gomes actually done to suggest he will take the step up? Apparently he has an inflated opinion of his worth, when he has had game time he has looked lost, at a time when a lot of youngsters are being given chances, he really hasn’t done anything to suggest ability or motivation.

For whatever reasons it hasn’t worked out for him at United, I wish him a highly successful Premier League career, but I won’t hold my breath.

I've been impressed anytime I have seen him play and have been disappointed that he has not been given sufficient chances to prove it more.

Not sure what you've been watching AJH. And I've heard contrasting things about his person.

I think, he thinks that United just isn't the place to be right now.

Have to agree with AJH, don't see why we are mourning Gomes loss. I too was very excited to see him when he made his debut at 16 years old. I never would have thought 3 years later he'd hardly have been near the first team. Perhaps giving him his chance so early set him back. When he has been given a chance he's been disappointing. I hope he proves me wrong, he had such potential.

I've always felt let down when playing for the senior side having seen what he can do in youth levels. If he doesn't want to be here then glad he's going, we should only want commited players here have had enough free loaders and players who want be elsewhere.

Jesus angelred, he is nothing at 19 to suggest he warrants more than squad inclusion. If he goes to Chelsea, they have Mount, Gilmour, Loftus-Cheek, Barley, Kovacic, Jorginhio and Kante. They also have an 18 year old called Anjorin. So Gomes thinks its a good move?

He won’t get a game at chelsea but he might get more money and the chance to live in London. No great loss, never showed enough to be in the first team squad really, he’s a decent player and we wish him well like with any player who goes but not going to be mourning his loss that’s for sure.

The lad needs to go to Spain and play some football.

He has so much potential, yet when given a chance in the first team he has drifted in and out of games and even the good moments have sadly only been the briefest of moments.

I think he needs to move to the Championship, to a club where he will play every week and learn how to cope with the physicality of the mens game.

People want to keep banging the, united is a bad place to be drum .
Gomez unlike greenwood mctom and Williams simply hasn't taken his chance .
I like him as a player but I think he needs to be patient, I think the role he plays is a difficult one at such a uoung age.

Those that know much more than you and I jred are stating that. Those that know the dealings of what goes on in side of Old Trafford.

With regards to people saying when he has got his chance in the first team he has drifted etc etc. Hasn't he got roughly between 5-10 games in the last couple of years. Never showed enough? Was he even given enough chances?

Cantona, he has probably looked at pereira, chong, lingard over the last season or two and asked why he can't get equal or more game time than them. From what I've seen, be certainly isn't worse than any of them. He probably wanted a fair crack and I don't think he has got that.

Probably a number of reasons why he'd go to Chelsea. Firstly he is a London boy. Secondly, we have no idea what kind of package/ deal Chelsea have offered regarding game time and development. It could just seem to be a more attractive option that staying at united?

Angel Gomes, can anyone really say he's done enough to warrant being a regular in the first team squad. If he would rather away then stay and improve then fine or maybe he's just not as good as he thinks he is.

Maybe it's just that Chelsea are offering more money. Might as well earn as much as possible for the same 3 hours training Monday to Friday.

I really think he was unlucky to be at his age when we had several managers who were under pressure for quick results. He is most definitely really talented and I think had he been integrated into a first team which was playing well he would have shone once he got hoa confidence and a run of games.

It must be extremely difficult especially in the position he plays where there is huge responsibility to be a creative force when the defence behind you is all over the place and the player who should be helping you get established (Pogba) is not necessarily playing his best.

I have no idea what sort of person and character Gomez is but if Frank Lampard wants him then he must see something special in him (and Lampard knows what qualities it takes to be a top midfielder)

If Gomez goes to Chelsea or another top team he is not nailed on to succeed but its the whole episode of losing another talented player and our manager seemingly not knowing what's going on that worries me. I don't think Fergie or Pep or Klopp would issue a statement saying they had no idea what was happening and mean it. So unless this is misdirection by Ole it does bother me that and conforms yet again what Ed02 continually says. The amateurs are in charge at Utd.

Talking of amateurs how an earth can Grealish be worth £80m. Yes he is a talented player but he would not walk into the first team of any top European Club. Surely that is the least that we would expect of a player bought for such sums. Why do we so often over pay? I wouldn't mind overpaying to get a young Ronaldo but for Grealish.!?

Lastly people have been laying into Dan James. He is a young guy just moved to the biggest club in the world and a different part of the country to where he grew up. He settled in pretty well and then surprise surprise he took a step backwards. It happens with young players Then his dad passed away. Not exactly an ideal first year at Utd for him.

Why cannot people give him a proper chance. Let him have a season or two to get good coaching and mature as a person and as a player. Then judge him. It seems like some people cannot wait for out players to fail. Get behind the young lads. Give them confidence to play without fear. That's what they need.

Angle
You have to wonder why others have clearly been given a chance and he hasn't.

He has been made a fair offer by all accounts 30k plus per week.
If he doesn't want to stay we can't make him.
Only time will tell if he had made the right call for his career.
City fans prob did the same about sancho
Some united fans were distraught when januzai left or when pogba left.
Gomes is doing what he feels right for him. I don't see it as a stain on the club. Its a simple fact of you can't keep all the people happy all the time.
We could not have offered him more money and imo nobody should be guaranteed game time.
Ive forgotten about him already. Your red our your dead as far as I'm concerned. If he does not want to be at united then its best we part ways.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is of a lack of a roadmap and opportunity.}

I get that ed002 and it is important that all players see a future for themselves.
I asked you what turned chongs mind a few weeks ago and if the club had given him a better 'roadmap'
Perhaps gomes was not happy with what the club out forward to him if that's the case then he is right to move.
Will Gomes be another januzzai or pogba? only time will tell.
I would have thought if the club had enough faith in him and if he was doing enough to force his way into contention he would have had had more chances by now.
If the roadmap but forward contained a plan to loan him out he may not have wanted that.
Maybe he thinks he is better than others see him. He is a talented boy but so are lots of others.
On the face of it, it appears like he wanted to move regardless of what was offered. Sometimes that can happen.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there are others who want out as well as you know.}
