I feel very sorry for Ole. The first game of the season is a few days away and the only signing he has got is one where we were quite stacked already. On top of that the players who he clearly wanted out the door, remain at the club.
He will be thrown under the bus if things don’t change quickly but I feel the fans will not turn on him if results do not go our way.
The pressure is on the board to deliver and if they don’t, they know the fan base will not turn on Ole but them. They didn’t back Jose when he secured second place previously but due to the poor football, a lot of attention was on him rather than the board. This time round it will be very different. The fans (you hope), will use their heads and not turn on Ole but the board.

Amz,

Unfortunately there are many on here already turned on Ole so there's no chance of your last sentence coming true.

I disagree we were stacked in VDB’s position, Bruno played pretty much every minute of every game after he signed because we had no cover, it’s really important that we had cover there that doesn’t weaken the team so much.

Still time left her and the rumours don’t go away, I think we will still spend, we usually do.

Do they believe in ole?

Unfortunately Ole is the latest to have his job made significantly more difficult due to our horrendous transfer dealings.

They may not have been the right managers and some have been given plenty of money to spend but it doesn't mean they've ended up with the players they wanted. Moyes has mentioned trying to sign Kroos, Bale and Fabregas, Jose said some of the players signed were 4th or 5th choice, LVG is in the same boat with naming various players he wanted but got others.

It's the hope that kills you and I thought we'd started to turn a bit of a corner with Bruno, Maguire, AWB etc not being complete flops and then signing Van De Beek which looks like an astute deal but it doesn't look like it. Chances are we will sign more players but they may well be 4th or 5th choice again.

If they don’t believe in Ole, then they should have sacked him.

From what Ed002 has said, we’ve had clear targets during the transfer window, but still just don’t know how to do negotiations in a professional manner.

Well Ken whether anyone believes in Ole or not but nobody trusts our board. It's the same every time with different managers on how the transfer dealings are done.

However under Ole our player recruitment has vastly improved - Bruno has been terrific, Wan Bissaka likewise but overplayed and looked tired towards the end, Maguire has added a physical presence at the back but prone to mistakes with his positioning and James started off well but is someone who needs more time to develop his overall game and is a good backup. Ighalo has done well whenever he has played and has done justice to the role he was brought in for and probably could have been used in more games. Van de Beek looks a quality player as well and adds quality depth to our midfield options.

Last season a lot of players were overplayed due to lack of quality squad depth as well as injuries and depending on the quality of potential signings we might or might not make we are in for a tough season ahead.

I agree Danny. I don't believe in ole myself i just have a feeling that if we make a poor start he will be fired. Maybe I'm wrong but as i said i have a feeling he is going to come under pressure quickly if we don't get it of the blocks well.

Let's play. its hard to know.
I don't think ole could steer Liverpool to the title this year or man city but we will have to wait and see how he does.

Ole is lucky, he already has an excuse in that the club have not made the required reinforcements. If we start with a poor run of results the fans with first turn on the owners and CEO before Ole.

Ken I am not saying Ole has what it takes to win titles because I myself have been critical of him. The point is no matter who the manager is they are finding it hard to deal with how the club is run and how the transfer dealings are dragged on for too long and doesn't give any manager a proper chance to integrate new players and get ready for a new season to get going and have a good start.

In no way shape or form does this situation fall on ole this is on the board and owners if this season falls apart due to not getting the players we need.

I don't feel sorry for Ole. He has his dream job, a job higher than his height. A job he must never had in the first place.
He has on paper one of the best midfield in Premier and a trident at the front with pace who can score a lot of goals. He had his dream (? ) signings at defence with Maguire and Bissaka and he has two good goalkeepers to choose from.
With a proven top manager our conversations would be if we will compete with what we have but instead nobody seems to believe this. Why? Because of the manager, so i feel sorry for us not for Ole.

Bang on herrera. really good post my man.

Regardless of whether Ole is or isn’t the right man for the job, he was chosen by the board first as an interim and then permanent manager. Apart from winning a trophy, he’s taken us back to the champions league. This would have been his main objective, taking in to account the financial gain from doing so.

If he achieves that and is then not backed and eventually fired, it’s not his fault. The board takes the majority of the blame. Compare the same situation to Frank Lampard, who if he doesn’t qualify for the CL and close the gap on city and Liverpool, will most definitely be sacked. Why? Because he was backed fully and given the tools he wanted. This is the season to back Ole. He’s had one full season under his belt and can push on with better players at his disposal. Right now, we don’t know if that will happen. Either way, I can’t imagine significant signings coming in before we play Palace. He’s not going to be a happy man.

We have Jose a new contract, never backed him and then fired him because we were miles away from the CL spots or competing against the top 2. Ole has at least progressed us in to the top 4. Barring VDB, we go with the exact same team we had last season when we start our season on Saturday. Pretty awful.

I don't think there's a problem with the first team, Herrera, so much as the squad depth. The middle/ front 6 are competitive, no doubt about it.

17.) 16 Sep 2020
16 Sep 2020 18:30:36
Noucamp and the team have just bought another midfielder in VDB and trying to buy another forward in Sancho. Squad depth is fine with VDB Pogba Bruno Mactominay Matic Fred in midfield and Rashford Martial Greenwood Sancho Igalo James upfront.

With all due respect, Herrera, and to the players, a bench with Fred, McTom, Ighalo and James on it, isn't likely to strike fear into Liverpool or City. Quality rather than quantity would be preferable. And you can't include Sancho when there's every chance he'll never arrive here.

19.) 17 Sep 2020
17 Sep 2020 00:40:58
There is every chance he ll never arrive Noucamp but the coach asked for more options upfront and the club trying to deliver. IF we buy him, two of Pogba Bruno DVB Marsial Rashford Greenwood Sancho would be out of first 11 and come from the bench. Do you know a lot of teams with better option from the bench?
Fred and Mactominnay are not options from the bench to come into the match score a goal or making a dribble, asist and win you the match. They are good squad options in some matches you want to be more compact, i think it was the Mactominay-Fred douvle pivot that gave us the stability and a good platform to attack before the Pogba return. They are not there to "strike fear", yet good rotation options.
