Something I've noticed over the last few years is there seems to be a clear moment when the press turn on a Manchester United manager, it almost becomes a campaign.

It happened with Moyes over the Christmas time leading into January. After that it was near constant bad press, negative spin and a stream of quotes about Moyes not being good enough etc etc. The same thing happened with LvG from the February of the season he was sacked. Dragging out ex-players quotes about how he wasn't great at Barcelona or Bayern etc. With Jose it started almost after the first game of his third season, in fact it started during the summer, with rumours of him being unhappy, falling out with Woodward, arguements with players, unhappy dressing room.

It's like a switch, the media just decide they need to sell papers and a United implosion is the best way to do so.

It started with Ole at the start of this season, "media reports" of Ole being unhappy with the failed Sancho bids, that Ole had a CB as a top priority and the club refused to back him. Then we lost a couple of games and the "Pochettino is waiting in the shadows" reports came out, everything was going down hill nicely and the media were lapping it up/ driving it.

Then United got a good result against Newcastle, a 4-1 win. They followed that up a few days later out performing PSG in France for their second win against the Parisians under Ole. A respectable draw against Chelsea even tinged with a little disappointment as United probably deserved more.

So what's the media line on this improvement? Nothing, instead what they want to focus on is Donny van de Beek's lack of playing time. Forget the fact that Telles has made one start and only last 67 minutes and hasn't been seen since. Or Cavani only having a cameo against Chelsea. Or indeed the multiple other players at other clubs who have signed over the summer and not played much for their new club's.

All these players have played less minutes for their new club's this season than DvdB 229mins) :

Tsimikas, Thiago, Jota, Godfrey, Traore, Regulion, Rodon, Bale, Vinicius, Raphinha, Walcott, Eze, Batshuayi, Clyne, Marcal, Fabio Silva, Hoever, Mendy, Ziyech, Sarr, Partey, Fredricks, Benrahma, Ferran Torres, Fraser, Veltman, Ivanovic, Brewster, Lookman, Loftus-Cheek, Tete and Lemina.

At least one player from every EPL side, along with some big name players (Jota, Thiago, Reguilon, Bale, Walcott, Ziyech, Mendy, Partey, Ivanovic) and some top young talents (Godfrey, Rodon, Raphinha, Eze, Fabio Silva, Ferran Torres and Lookman) . While both Telles and Cavani have played less minutes for us.

So why is there no song and dance in the media about any of these players? Simple, because the media have an anti-United agenda and Donny is the only stick they can use to beat the manager at the moment, it doesn't matter that it make little sense. It's just another thing to perpetuate the idea that the club is in crisis, to sell papers and get clicks.

{Ed002's Note - There is no anti-MU agenda. The DvdB issue arose because of what his agent has done.}

I honestly don't see an anti united agenda at all.
Noucamp made a good point the other day on the media difference between frank and ole.
I do see s difference I the way they are treated.
Perhaps to anyone other than some united supporters ole comes across as dour boring and not very good at his job and they don't like him.
He comes across that way to me too.

“Only stick to beat Ole with “ 😂

How about no win in 5 at Old Trafford, a 1-6 hammering by Spurs, and 15th in the league.

Your post seems to be to try to make it the press are the ones driving the agenda against Ole. You say DVB is the “only stick to beat the manager” with, er no that would be some of the pathetic performances and lack of consistency. It would be that Ole is manager of the biggest football club in the world but doesn’t know what he is doing. The press cover the club so many of them have seen many years close up. There are a lot of pundits, ex Scouse ones who will stick the knife in but they are pundits, they are not The Press as a whole. Gary Neville does it the other way, Roy Keane but that is what pundits do. In fact Ole has the benefit of many of his old mates standing up for him, players he played with, who turn a blind eye to his failings, so on balance he gets a relatively easy ride.

As for DVB there is a genuine question on what Ole is doing, the Ed’s told you and us that.

The club are a mess, top down including the Manager. Maybe we actually deserve some of the criticism because of the mess, the amateurs, probably not all of it, but there will be due criticism whilst we continue on the emotional path we are doing.

Don’t worry if we win tonight everything will be fine.

I have always wanted us to win every game. I think I gave my reasons why I feel we may win tonight in another post. I am supposed to spout doom when I don’t think it? Ole has won some matches when we are underdogs particularly,

Damn phone sent before posting

Am I supposed to spout doom all the time even when I don’t think we will lose. Ole has results when we are the underdog and I think we have a good chance tonight, the first result at PSG gives us a foothold and may relax us a little. Win lose or draw and I still don’t see what it takes in Ole. When it mattered like the semi finals we couldn’t get over the line. In honesty I am more bothered about our league position and Arsenal on Sunday.

We are losing tonight and Nagelsmann will teach Ole a tactics lesson.

I would sign NHelsmann and Upamecano from RBL and get tid of Ole.

I disagree jred. Redman does not come come across as bitter at all.
He comes across to me as quite sensible and realistic.
You didn't come across as bitter when you were slagging off previous managers. You just ran out of patience before others and in this case others have run out of patience on ole before you have.
Did you want united to lose when you are calling for jose and lvg to be fired? I don't think for a second you did but your bitterness for redmans and others opinion makes you question our desire for the team to win.

Honestly ed, I think the lads have been up for it. It's there for them. I mean I won't be surprised or too disappointed if we do lose, they are a good team. But I do think we will win this one.

{Ed025's Note - im sure you will be disappointed if you lose angel, lets just hope you are right mate..

We should win considering 2 of our most expensive players are as expensive as their squad.

Probably because they can’t get a word in edgeways due to the celebrations and endless hubris after every Ole win.

Disappointed yes ed025 but it will more depend on how they play. If they play well but lose to the better team, I can hack that. If they are utter crap, or ultra defensive and lose if the game was there to be had, I will be disappointed.

So far so good though!

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..
