What does the future hold for Van Persie?
Seeing as the team is in such a state of transition. Could we see him being replaced next summer?

I just think we lack a striker with pace.

In my opinion RVP would be moved on at the end of the season (assuming his first half form is the same as the second half) if any other boss was in charge at United. LVG likes him, he likes his character around the club and knows he is a player who will give his all for the coach. I think LVG will keep him on for at least another season.

Agree4 Disagree0

I would move on RVP, but to be fair we haven't created much this season and I doubt another club would be willing to pay his wages, so he may decide to spend another year and move on a free in 2016. I think LVG will be happy having him in the squad for the rest of his tenure.

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on Beast. I agree completely. LVG would be happy to keep him at Old Trafford as long as he is in the dugout.

Seeing plenty of discussions about De Gea lately. Personally, I'm not as worried as some of our fans are.

The ideal would be for him to sign a new contract, Real find someone else, and he continues to be our goalkeeper for the next decade.

However, if he does leave, and it's looking more and more likely, I'd go for Lloris. Sure, De Gea has better potential and is a far better shot stopper, but in terms of getting out quickly, sweeping, and the command of the area, I'd say both are on par at the moment.

Lloris still relatively young for a goalkeeper, 3-4 years older than De Gea. But you never know with goalkeepers, some can carry on till they're 40, like VDS, who was absolutely fantastic, some lose that edge when they reach their thirties.

Regarding Lloris, he still has his prime years ahead of him. (I'm taking the liberty of assuming goalkeeping prime is 30-32). If Spurs yet again don't get the fourth spot, I don't think he will want to hang around for long. So if we can get De Gea to sign a new contract and get a considerable amount like 40m pounds or around from Real, and if Dave's willing to leave, I'd be okay with selling him and getting Lloris with Valdes as 2nd choice.

However, the only stumbling block should De Gea choose to go back to his country, would be dealing with Levy. We know his nature and he will fight for every penny. And since Lloris has signed a 5 year contract last year or so, we'd have to pay slightly over the odds for him.

Just watched the Juve v Man u 1999 semi final again!
Every goal kick there is not 1 utd player in their own half. Every free in their half not a united player in sight!

Jez I would love to see tactics like that again, just for one game to see what happens lol.

On another note, what would ya not give for a young Staam & Keane now!!! Priceless!

Lloris would be my first choice replacement . But we need to keep De Gea. Why sell him? Already in the top 3 in the world . With much more to come. If Madrid keep perusing him go crazy and ask for £80m like all other clubs do with them. Spurs would make us pay £40m to take Lloris

Agree0 Disagree0

When a kid from Spain gets the chance to play for Real Madrid he will always jump at the opportunity. If Madrids interest is serious David De Gea will move to the European champions. Real Madrid always get their man, be that Ronaldo, Bale, Kroos, Modric or De Gea. They will offer him luxurious wages, a lavish lifestyle and a homecoming one can only dream of.

Having said that, I really hope we sign him up. He is our most pivotal and vital player at the moment.

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm just clinging onto the Athletico effect, but if I had to put money on it I unfortunately think he will be sold in the Summer.

Signing Valdes is clever because it means we have 18 months to replace him without clubs bending us over. I don't rate Valdes, but most people do and as such clubs can't say "you either pay what we ask or you don't have a quality keeper", this move probably knocks £10mil off whichever keeper we buy to replace him and gives us time to scout a suitable long term replacement as most people would have banked on DDG being our keeper for a long time imo.

I just hope we make him an offer he can't refuse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beast It wouldn't suprise me if De Gea signed a long term contract and Real Madrid continue to pursue the player to ensure we get premium price for our best current asset. Football is an odd business.

But I would be gutted to see him go.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Valdes was bought incase in the summer if David does leave and a keeper like Lloris is not bought then we have a decent keeper to replace him

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Valdes was bought to replace Lindegaard and Amos. If De Gea goes in the summer then Krul will perhaps arrive and Valdes become first choice.}

I wouldn't be surprised if the signing of ADM had some sort of arrangement connected to it with DDG. The conspiracy theorist in me and Ed002 will probably tell me I am living in cloud cuckoo land, but we do seem cosy with Madrid at the minute, Bale rumours aren't going away, Coentrao keeps popping up, ADM signing, Ronaldo and now DDG hype, it does worry me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will be disappointed to see De gea leave. He is one of my favourite players.

Good contribution today from Zaha, is his situation still the same given the new management i.e. LVG

Absolutely horrific news about malanda, think he's been mentioned a few times on here. Such a shame, R.I.P

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Just checked the search function and it was actually me who mentioned him about a year ago, tragic.

Agree3 Disagree2

Always brings a chill to my spine when you hear news like that, such a shame for the young man.

Very sad to see something that tragic happen to someone so young, thoughts go to his family and friends.

{Ed004's Note - Horrible news. RIP}

Rip. Terrible news

Agree2 Disagree0

Very talented young man. A shame for our game and to his loved ones. Rest in peace Junior Malanda.

Would anyone want to sign Cavani instead of taking the option of signing Falcao on permanent basis?

Id sign Falcao he looks like finding his feet and he contributes a lot more to the team then just being in the bix and score.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

No Falcao is better but needs better service.

Agree9 Disagree0

I honestly think falcao is looking good i'm sure the goals will come

Agree9 Disagree0

Cavani is a lazy player like Berbatov
Falcao all day long

Agree4 Disagree1

Cavani is certainly not lazy in fact at Napoli he was probably one of the hardest working players on the planet and is better than many on here give him credit for, he is a year younger than falcao but if falcao gets close to his previous form which looks like happening IMO than he blows cavani out the water.

Agree8 Disagree0

Agree with all of you. Hopefully falcao comes good.

Falcao is miles better than Cavani. Falcao all day

I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are on the De gea rumours? And hopefully it doesn't happen but if he were to leave what sort of price would you be happy with? And who would you replace him with?? Me myself I would not want him to leave as he has been one of our best if not the best player over the last few seasons. But if he were to leave I would expect us to get Atleast 50 million and I would probably sign loris.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

According to the papers, rm are trying to prize him away for 30 mil, no way would I let him go for that, how come when we are linked with players their price is sky high, but if someone wants our players the price is way down, I hope we keep him, but if not put 80 million on him still has 18 months on contract.

Agree5 Disagree0

Well lvg said he expects de gea to sign a new contract. Knowing that lvg doesn't like speaking about these things i n only assume de gea and his representatives have informed him of their intent of de gea signing a new contract.

Agree6 Disagree0

I definitely don't want him to leave but if he did in answer to the question i would want him replaced with Hugo lloris

I would not want to sell De Gea, but if they player indicated he wanted to go I would ask for similar money to Ronaldo and Bale. £80-100m. Why?

Because he is one of the top 3 goal keepers in the world. His age. He has a very long career ahead of him. He has not reached his peak yet. He is a baby in goal keeping terms. If you want to be successful you need to not only score goal, you need to stop the other team scoring and De Gea is a brick wall as we have seen this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is why we don't discuss money.}

^ humour at its finest

Agree2 Disagree2

How much would you say he's worth Big Al? You must know how hard it is finding a world class keeper, you've not had a decent one for about 20 years!

Agree5 Disagree0

Not sure what he would be worth but would be a world record fee for a goalie. I believe he will sign a new contract and our for many years to come hopefully.

Agree2 Disagree0

Big al is more worried about what goes on at united, you talk more about united players than your own team, ye have 2 fine bad keepers, valdes turned down being liverpools number 1 to be uniteds number 2!

Agree6 Disagree0

I would be sad to see him leave if and whenever he decides to leave.
He is one of the best goalkeepers you can get at the moment and he is settled with our back 4 too.
If he does leave, United should demand a player of Madrid too, maybe Varane, Isco or Ramos.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a fantasy world.}

10 Jan 2015 17:28:26
Big al is stiill hoping lallana leave the mark on English football he claimed he would lol remember the I wouldn't swap anyone from United with LFC players quote from Simon? How did that go al?

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2015 21:43:54
I think Big Al was talking about the dog catchers putting Suarez in the dog van.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris what? English please mate
I said lallana was a top class player which he is.
We have dross goalkeepers but david de gea at 80-100 million? Need is say anymore.
The day I see a goalkeeper sell for 50 million will be the day I stop supporting football as a whole. The game is embarrassing atm. The quality of the PL is appallingly. Many fans(working class) with no dis respect are digging deep to go support their team and the standard is poor.
Liverpool? Yes we have been dross but united have been shocking all season. The whole league is regressing.

Agree1 Disagree1

And leahy, values never chose Liverpool over united. We took ourselves off the table(Rodgers). He will be no1 next season ;)

Agree0 Disagree1

10 Jan 2015 23:53:57
It's funny that when Liverpool are doing not so good al the league is poor, but when u are doing well it's not lol.

U worry about a gk going for over 50m, mate come on if lallana and markovich can go for 25/30m ddg is worth a lot more.

U will stop supporting football? Didn't u do that when u first started supporting your club :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah. But where 3rd your 8th so think about when we do start playing. Well and 53 different i jury's this season already and still 3rd isn't to bad . Danny is injured any you moan.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2015 05:51:05
Ed002 why is it dream land? Why sell him for £30m? He's contracted so we can scare clubs off with huge demand.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is why we don't discuss money - because people like you simply have no grasp of the transfer business.}

10 Jan 2015 08:51:16
To Nostasic from City rumoured to be on his way to Shalke. could that allow for Howedes to leave? Do we have a serious interest in him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nastasic's move is nothing to do with Manchester United.}

11 Jan 2015 05:50:46
Ed002, I agree but his impending arrival may have an impact on our getting Howedes if we are interested. possible wishful thinking on my part as i quite like Him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You seem to just be making this up.}
