jack wilshire for me javi martinez and then a centre half and if he is not going to give one of the youngs strikers a go bring in a centre forward of potential like with hernandez and the squad will look in good shape! Would not do my buying till the summer tho just go with what we got till then!

How many more hours would it take for liverpool to score from open play? I know they are set up defensively but they are lacking even when counter attacking.

anyone think we could bid 20m for nasri? looks disinterested there and doesn't seem to be playing well at all this season for them, also mancini has noticed this on several occasions, but would city do business with us? i doubt it.

Lancashire Semi final at the Sheikhs place and loads of empty seats ?? Mr Mansour will be well impressed.
Money might buy success, but in Beswick, it certainly doesn't put bums on seats.

Hi Eds, Syd, Everyone,
I am getting fedup up of this now, why is there chat about us signing players like Eriksson, Shaquiri, infact any wide players? Its utter nonsense, we NEED a centre mid, maybe even two.
The writing is clearly on the wall but what is up with Fergie? Surely it has to be Sneijder, Modric, id even settle for Kaka, Gotze.
Please tell me you guys think we are signing someone?
I have heard absolutely nothing my end!
Cheers chaps,

PJ {Ed036's Note - Perhaps in the summer, but I doubt a signing will come in January, especially after Scholes' return.}

Loads of January sales talk ....plenty of names but surprise, surprise, little activity.

A thought for you all. Do you really think Fergie is going to be allowed to spend millions both when the finances are already tight and secondly when he is only going to commit for what he says will be three years, thus taking him to 73 . I personally think the most important decision United could make at this time, would be to appoint Fergies successor now and have them working together , up to the great mans retirement.

This should see the new boss take charge of youth policy and transfers, with the objective of looking ten years ahead, thus making large spending spree even more important. The benefits ?

1. Ten year plan - which we won't get with Fergie, though we still have him in the background.
2. Any transfer incoming to be a long term project
3. Freshen up the coaching style with new ideas.

Over the weeks, I have read various names being mentioned all with good credentials. However taking into consideration Fergies stated plan, I would opt for Ole Gunnar. Credentials improving, knows the club inside out, respected by media and fans alike. The 2 - 3 year bedding in programme, would ensure a smooth transition.

I honestly see a replica of what Barcelona have done with Guardiola , who has taken the club on in leaps and bounds.

Great and interesting posts on here, but I think the serious work has to be aimed at creating this new foundation. Let's be honest in a way it has already started with last years huge clear out and I think we all know there is going to be another in the next 6 months, thus leaving us stripped to the bare bones, at least in comparison to previous years.

If this was to happen, I'd then like the focus to switch back to youth and players steeped in the history of the club. The past shows that great Euro Cup winners, us in 99, Celtic , Barca , Bayern , Ajax all had a great nucleus of home grown lads, here's hoping we can do it again.

just a question to the regulars,

I see people keep on about signing demba ba. I read various things about him, just about passing a medical at newcastle by the skin of his teeth.

After Hargreaves do you think that sir alex will take a chance like that again? I know we have owen but he is on a contact that suits us fine now.

Ba is a good player but do we get rid of players like berba to take a risk on a guy that could break down? Plus with all the clubs sniffing around because of his "apparent low realease clause" we will have to offer a really decent contract.

Is he worth the risk.

some talk about hernandez here, I can see it becoming harder for him to get in the team now welbeck is fully fit, although he's exciting to watch i don't think he has all that much ability, his movement is what gets him goals, i dont even rate his finishing that much except for his heading and with our mid struggling i think welbeck brings far more to the table. anyone agree?

I cant believe what i'm reading on this site? since when has Demba Ba been anywhere near good enough for us? He has one good 1/2 season and all of a sudden we should be signing him up?, cmon guys we really are desperate if we are looking at Demba Ba. A good 6 months and he is suddenly a great prospect. I for one don't think he is good enough technically, he has poor awareness of those around him and would not suit our style of play. Whats the matter with everyone one here? i admit times are not great at the minute but we shouldnt settle for sub-standard. Do you want us to end up like LFC?.........
I'm sure SAF has the right players lined up or in the pipeline so we should all just be patient and trust him.
As for the kids, i wasn't paying attention to the rubbish in the press but Rio's tweet clearly shows there are issues and i think we all know who it was aimed at. If this is the case and they are causing contractual problems then they need their heads banged together. There are thousands of less privileged kids who would give their lives for the oppurtunities they have.

We need to look at our transfer record, if you do that you will see that the MAJORITY of players are bought from within the EPL by SAF (Obviously there are expections). We also must realise that one player will not be bought for 50 millio nto solve the central midfield crisis - SAF has faith in Cleverly, Anderson and Carrick - they will be supplemented by the arrival of Rodwell.

So what British players from within the league can we bring in and would they do a job. Well 3 players spring to mind:

Bale
McCarthy
Walker

Now, the realistic two i think are Bale and Walker. We know that Bale is wanted by SAF - he actually bid for him at the end of summer but was turned down. And he could be Evra's long term successor - i think he'd make a great left back.

McCarthy is a player with quality and would be a good adition who would have longevity in the team for years to come. It is more likely to see him come in rather than a Modric as he is good value for money.

The players outside the league who would be good to come in are Eastern European defenders, specifically Neven Subotic - fantastic defender, big strong and would replace Vidic (as will Jones) like Smalling will replace Ferdinand.

I'm watching the highlights of Real Madrid vs Malaga and Ronaldo looks incredibly disinterested. He doesn't look happy, he is being consistantly booed by both sets of fans d looks generally unsettled. I'm not saying he is coming in January, or even Summer, but what i am saying is that he could be back sooner than we think - especially if he can win La Liga to go with his Golden Boot and Copa del Rey titles there.

Not a rumour and off topic also, but can we please stop talking about Morrison and Pogba? if they were good enough to play in the first team they'd be playing because our midfield is pitiful at the moment but these two still can't get near it. I'm sick of people talking about how great they are and how they will be our midfield saviours, it's all bullsh1t. We need world class, experienced midfielders now, not boys trying to carve out a career with a little talent and bad attitudes. So again I ask can we please stop talking about them and leave them alone to progress without the great weight of expectation on their shoulders.

Well if not in this transfer window then atleast in the summer there will be massive clearout at united.

- Owen
- Anderson (Could be sold, depends on his performance)
- Berbatov (He will be gone now or later)
- Giggs (Legend Retiring)
- Park
- Scholes (Legend Retiring Again)
- Gibson (Sold now or Later)
- Kuszczak (Sold now or Later)
- Diouf
--------------------------------------------------------
That is 9 to be exact.
So there will be few who will be promoted, Couple from the academy. some of u knows who are those.
And may be 2-3 new entry and 1-2 squad players.

So we will be saving a lot on wages, as most of the players are on 60K-80K a week.

I hope Evra will be for atleast one more season before he leave for france.

with that, I can hope for Champions League Trophy at old Trafford in 2 years time.

Cheers.

I think people are way off with their ideas about foreign players in other leagues, Fergie prefers english based players who have proven themselves. For that reason I would say that Gareth Bale who we should break the bank for, and Leighton Baines would be 2 very good players that would solve a few problems regarding giggs' replacement, in fact Bale is almost certainly the best left winger in England if not Europe at the moment so he is definitely someone we should try to get.

Other than those 2 positions I think that the CM problem isnt going to be solved with one £30 to £50M player and I seriously doubt the answer to those problems is in England as Modric is valued at £40 which is silly money so maybe we should look at 3 younger players in the league and while Jack wilshire sticks out like a sore thumb I dont see us getting him so I think James McCarthy is a really good alternative along with Cabaye and, in my opinion Sessagnon who is having a great season with Sunderland and wouldnt cost a fortune either. This is just my opinion but I think its probably the most realistic I can come up with as I have no idea whats going on in Fergies head at the moment

sydney if your going for wingbacks you need three central midfielders. Can i suggest instead the below

de gea
valencia smalling vidic jones bale
rodwell carrick cleverley
rooney welbeck

that leaves nani on the bench as a game changer if needed. Gives wayne a partner and has more shape. Mort

I think Fergie wants to put Jones and Cleverly as a partnership in the center of the pitch, Jones is a defender and an anchorman and cleverly will be the creative force and dictate play. Im looking forward to seeing them play together.

obviously a centre mid is essential but we have no idea which one the boss wants. My own shortlist would be martinez, ozil, modric, eriksen, gotze, rodwell. Any two of them would be good but most likely just one. A left back would be handy but i'd prefer an older one so as not to block the youth. Think a centreback would also be an idea. Rio is on the decline now and we're all hoping vidic comes back ok from his injury which he might not do. Just leaves us with smalling and evans and jones although i agree jones is better in the middle at the moment. Right back could be a possible as well as the twins are just so injury prone. Throw in a winger to replace park who's doing a giggs and moving inside. And a forward or two to replace owen, macheda, diouf and berb who could all leave. Seriously doubt if we'll sign between six to eight players in the summer even though plenty could leave.

How would a team of wing-backs work in our team with perhaps Bale and Rodwell as additions?

_____________DDG
____Small____Jones____Vidic
Toni____Rodwell___Clevers____Bale
____L.Nani___Rooney___Young

Lindegaard
Evans
Ferdinand
Carrick
Pogba
Hernandez
Welbeck

When defending there would be four centre-backs in the form of Rodwell, Jones, Vidic & Smalling with Bale and Valencia as LB & RB. When attacking we would have Valencia & Nani on one side, Bale and Young on the other wing, with Cleverley and Rooney running through the centre.

Glad to read Mancini's comments in todays papers.
He gets it exactly right - I hope now that Liverpool and their owners wake up - realize that this is not about United v Liverpool - but about basic decency and respect for a fellow human, and fully apologize. If not they are trully beyond the pale.

Messi was on Barca's books at the time, and his medication was not to to improve his preformance but to help him live a normal life as ed said.
If it were the case then would footballers be allowed to use kreatine (Sorry about spelling), or any bulking products as they promote growth so if messi's medication is seen as doping then id say nearly every club would be guilty of doping as they ensure slighter players grow using these growth supplements.

Hi all, I think there is one person that I would love us to sign who I could realistically see coming. That is schweinsteiger. I Still about 26. I just think he would be perfect. I put him on a par with xavi & iniesta and he can pull the strings pretty much against anyone. I think he's a potential target for us And even his brother supports us and tells him to sign for us.
I've read today that bayern are interested in berbatov. Give them him and a handsome sum and take schweinsteiger. Plus the addition of another young midfielder (ideally) Martinez or even someone like mcarthy and the squad would be transformed. Berbatov & Owen going out. Someone like Ba coming in (sorry to jump in the Ba wagon) then there is a real solid look to the squad.

All this talk about jones being Vidic's long term replacement is silly, Fergie has said he wants him to be a midfielder in the future. Smalling is Ferdinands replacement and i think Evans and a new CB (Personally I hope subotic) will contened for the other spot, wont happen for about 2-3 more seasons i think.

Sorry Ports only just seen your reply..
You are right we are NOT debating quality of signings
merely the absence of them at the theatre of (yawns) dreams.
No value in January is one of the varied excuses AF comes out with when he will not spend. Read your
site, see what YOUR mates think of your team. When
you have done that decide whether you need signings immediately or not (and if you say NO then we are wasting each others time) if you say YES ask Why will AF not spend monies on transfers...Maybe he has a
vested interest on money staying within the club? Or
maybe he thinks 'I will still win the league, the f a cup,the europa with what I have and then everyone will say
how great I am'.Ports - the emperor no longer has any clothes

Klown Kenny has been back what, just over a year and already has 3 poor signings to his name? Imagine the damage that clown could do in 25 years, would be brilliant!

I know this isn't a rumour, I'm a united fan so I've posted here although it could be a small issue placed on the conspiracy rumour site ( good page by the way, stuff I think about alot. No need to thank me for the plug ed, hehe) but I'd just like an opinion from the ed or anyone else. Lionel Messi was given medical assistance or medication from Barcelona from a young age to help with his growth. at what point is this doping? Or this is not doping? I'm sure someone knows more facts but if it's a human growth hormone is it illegal as in athletics? There has been a few rumours over recent years regarding doping at barca. Anyone care to have a think. Maybe I'm just bitter.

Lads just wondering why so many people are getting worked up over underspening and fergie not signing. I for one would love a.big mOney signing coming in but I am also enjoying winning with very little spending.

Yes we are having 'arguably' a 'poor' season(not IMO). But look at our rivals-city are overpaid pre madonnas With yes-a lot of talent but lack the passion and hunger required to win a league.

Chelsea are a prime example- players come and go for money .plain and simple. Yes 3 titles in 6years but they have no passion or hunger . Example is against us last year when winner took all in title race. They have no stability but a lot of money .All is not well there either.

Although I hate them with a passion but you gotta respect the arsenal. They like us have won and bought through success. I know they have won nothing in 6 years but still produce quality players.
Sorry for a long post but the message involved is we have got to were we are without 50 million players. Players who come here love the club. Yes players have cost a lot but have helped us tremendously. Yes players have had fights, left for big money but always have united in their hearts!
