Anyone think we should give Dalot a try on the right wing as he better moving forward than defending at the moment, good at attacking and a great crosser of the ball. Maybe against a lower team at home, might balance out the team?

Isn't this an issue with our team at the minute playing players in the wrong positions. Dalot is a right back and should remain a right back. He's young still learning so let's not write him off because he's been a little suspect defensively.

Dalot is incredibly highly regarded as potential world class right back.

He needs games and development in his natural position if you ask me.

Why? Isn't he a right back?

What was Johnny Giles?

Completely agree with not playing players out of position.

But I think redcon is pointing out that dalot is fantastic at gpin forward, sknning players and puttin an accurate cross in. His weakness is his defensive game so why not try him as a RW.

Johnny Giles? A central midfielder, mostly all his life way back to his cabra days.

He needs games in his natural position to improve. He’s not going to improve defensively playing at RW so why put him there.

I haven’t really noticed him be that weak in defence, we’ve hardly let a goal in in the games he has played, he’s just a bit green and lacks experience.

Agreed with that GDS. It'd be bizarre to do that with him now. He needs to improve in that position, not be changed to another.

Yehh he might turn into our very own Gareth Bale, we should try it.

If he was as good I'd agree FZZ but he's not.

Hello Guys! Hope you all good.

Cant wait for the month of Feb, come mouth watering fixtures coming up.

Just wanted to get your opinions. Who should be our main striker?

Now with Ole we have a change of style of play for the striker, constant high pressing, quick one touch passing on the edge of the box, drifting to the wings to whip in occasionally.

We all have seen Rashford does a very good job, only some concern with his composure and finishing.

We haven't seen how Lukaku will do in such a role, we know his first touch is outrageous but he puts away most of the chances. Also with our new style of play we create lot more chances than before and our strikers receive the ball facing the opposition goal unlike before. Lukaku has impressive scoring stats before we signed him.

I would really like to have Lukaku in this team, but its also very difficult to decide who to drop. The front three of Martial Rash and Lingard have been very impressive and settled. If we are to drop one of them it would be Lingard and Rashford playing from right side. Wasnt he already playing right in the youth team? But we know up front is his best position.

Or will Lukaku become our super sub as Ole? With someone of his scoring record is it ok to be a expensive supersub? I understand we have lot of games coming up and we would be rotating, but I would like to know your opinion of our strongest team striker.

Lot of you guys here could analyse the game and tactics so much better than me, would really like to know your views .

Right now Rashford every day of the week. Unfortunately, pretty much all of our forwards share the common weakness of giving the ball away too easily for various reasons. Martial is guilty of choosing the wrong option a lot and running down blind alleyways, Lingard can still get breezed off the ball etc etc. Throwing Lukaku in to the mix can boil this problem over the edge and make our attack look disjointed and incoherent. No coincidence that his strengths are maximised playing with two of the best ball retainers in the world in De Bruyne and Hazard. If we went and got a world class right sided forward in the summer it would likely do wonders for a player like Lukaku.

Tbh a lot of our problems in attack stem from "we play with wingers but don't have a right winger"

Lukaku misses chances in big games and we will not win titles with him in the first 11. He can be good to rotate with but we need to persist with Martial, Rashford or sign a top striker.

Good question Alec. I think this is a great dilemma for ole to have. I would personally start rashford on the weekend and have Lukaku coming off the bench chomping at the bit to score and effect the game.

The biggest difference for Lukaku is that ole has asked him to play on the shoulder of the last man instead of being a traditional target man. For a man of such stature, he is actually very poor as a hold up/ target man. His best football at Everton came from running the channels and using his pace and strength to trouble the opposition. His scoring record is phenomenal. He scored 42 goals and 9 assists for club and country in this calendar year. I believe that is 13th in Europe. Pretty impressive for someone we have not seen the best of yet.

Rashford has been brilliant under ole. His confidence has been through the roof and his pace and movement has dramatically improved our play. Finishing has always been his weakness in his game but his finish against Newcastle was very composed. I wouldn’t want to change him just yet because it would disrupt his momentum. Eventually I would like to see us go two up top against the smaller sides at home with rashford and Lukaku up top and martial and Sanchez on the wings. Could potentially be devastating. If ole decides to go three at the back then we may see rashford and Lukaku up top. Either way we have two players in form who are enjoying their football again. Well done to ole and the coaching team.

If we can get good money for Lukaku I would take it, same for Sanchez. I don’t think either are right for us. We’ve been doing well without them and it would provide funds for defence and midfield.

I'd be amazed if we didn't see the same 11 that started in Ole's first game against Cardiff.

Lukaku has done well from the bench but I think he'll have to settle for a supporting role again providing everybody is fit.

I think Rashford's energy, mobility, work rate and pressing ability gives him the edge. Lingard's intelligent movement, tireless engine and his ability to press from the front will also be vitally important. Martial provides us with some crucial width from the left. His dribbling ability and clinical finishing is capable of opening up even the best defensives.

I fully expect us to line up with 3 in midfield. Pogba, Matic and Herrera gives us a nice balance of creativity, energy and steel. Pogba has chiefly operated as the more advanced, attacking midfielder in a sort of left sided No10 position. I think he might operate slightly deeper against Spurs. I think he'll have to be more defensively switched on and this will be a good test to judge just how much he had progressed under Ole. Weirdly come Monday morning if we're talking about how well Pogba defended I'd be quietly satisfied.

For all our attacking intent of late I think the result will be decided on how well we can defend. I think we definitely have the pace, movement and creativity to cause them problems but we'll have to eradicate the lapses of concentration, unforced errors and individual mistakes at the back. If we can do that we might just be in business.

Lukaku plays very well from the right, so i wouldn't be surprised to see lukaku start up front, and rash right, but the two of the switching a lot during the game. could also drop AM and move Rash left keeping lingard in.
