I believe we need the type of player of the quality of owen hargreaves when he first join in.was a great protection to our defence and we were champions of europe!!!

would love to see either Gago or Moutinho to utd!!

Hope baines join in soon!!

Gago is a great shout I think. He's very underrated and is far better than Fellainii, Witsel and Gago.

rite its very unlikely that were going to get luca, mutinhio and witsel we could get baines which will be for around 16 million pounds we still have some more money to spend seing that we were going to bid 30 million for lucas so i say we shudnt go for a mid but go for van persie berbatov cud be going and welbeck mite not even stay so a rooney van persie strike force wudnt be bad

Just for something different...what does everybody reckon of our new away kit (white one)?

Personally, I think it looks good apart from the red neck part.

Opinions?

MPez

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I actually really like the shirt including the red neck, looks decent. Not to sure about the shorts though.

Then again isn't the white kit meant to be our unlucky one?

Is this the away kit or the 3rd kit?

Have spend the last couple of weeks listening to a lot of rubbish being talked on this site, especially in the last few days. On one hand people are complaining about Man Utd getting outdone by other clubs when it comes to transfers and how we can't compete in terms of transfer fees, wages etc, citing Hazard, Modric, Ozil, Benzema, Villa etc. as examples.

First of all Hazard agreed terms with all three clubs who were all serious contenders for his signature, meaning we met his wage demands. He himself admitted he chose Chelsea because he felt he was guaranteed more first team football.

Ozil only cost 12 million so price wasn't a factor, he simply wanted to go to Madrid more. Remember Fergie or the Glazers can't do anything about the weather in Manchester or the quality of life in Madrid or the perception of becoming a Galactico. Alba was the same this season. He only wanted to move to Barca, end of story.

David Villa cost Barcelona 32 million at age 28. That my friends is ridiculous. Factor in that he has spent almost a full year on the sidelines injured. What value have Barca got for their money?

Then to top it all off the same people who give out about United not spending money give out when we are linked with Leighton Baines for 18 million.

Personally I don't want to see United sign Baines either. What I want to see is good vale for money signings. Remember Vidic, Evra (although he has gone downhill now), Hernandez were all signed for less than 10 million. The most players we have broken the bank to sign in recent times were Berba (30m) and I also remeber Carrick (18m). Both have been heavily criticised on here for not being good enough.

If you want to see a club throw around cash after every new thing that comes on the radar perhaps you belong on the blue side of Manchester.

I noticed someone today give out about Petrucci and Tunnicliffe being promoted to first team squad. If one of them turns out to be good enough to play first team that would give me more joy than any 50 million signing. It almost as if people resent players who cost us nothing.

Jomu

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Agree with all of your post apart from the David Villa line. Berbatov was 27 when we signed him for a similar (if not higher) fee and we all know how that one turned out. Villa has been one of Barcelona's best players since he signed. Yes; he got injured - but it could happen to anyone. The fact that they've struggled this season without him shows just how important he is to their team!

T0MB0Z

Agree1 Disagree1

Think along these lines,we werent good enough last year, city have another year to gel under their belts and are likely to add some class to an already world class squad, chelsea are building again now our best player is another year older (scholes),we looked workmanlike last year,i dont think anyones bothered how much a player costs just that we get some class in midfield and at left fullback, kagawa is not a central midfield player and to play him there would hurt his game,so one or two actual centre mids not defenders trying to be centre mids would i think make us competitive at home and abroad or we could just leave it and watch us get mullered by 2nd tier european teams like last year, now jump down of your high horse fella.
mick the red fireman

Agree2 Disagree1

Its not about just spending mega bucks for the sake of it,our midfield has been poor for 2 seasons now and lack of quality in the squad cost us the title last year not just injuries.if we dont fix the midfield problem then expect another trophyless season.
johndenton

Agree1 Disagree0

Unfortunately Jomu that's the way football is, when we were buying players like Evra, Vidic,Park, ect City weren't throwing money around, united get interested in aplayer the price shoots up and competion is tough, but if we dont spend eventually we will get left behind, chelsea realise this and are doing something about it this season. How far were they of the pace last season, ok they won 2 trophies but over a full season, way off. We did better than expected to be honest in EPL, but in Europe we were simply not good enough. United need reinforcement in CM also.

I think the question is, how many more will we bring in, and also who? Well I think that Baines is definatly coming in as long as we can agree the fee which i'm sure we can do. Everton are looking at Pranjic from Bayern so it all points to Baines coming into us. This all points to Evra being in his last season with us (providing Fabio proves himself). To be honest I see Baines being the next Denis Irwin type player - solid but unspectacular which will be welcomed. Baines will also give us that dead ball threat which we have been lacking for a while now.

Apart from Baines, who else? Well I think that Martinez, Moutinho and Modric are the central midfielders that we are looking most closely at with Strootman being an outside possibility. Personally I would like Martinez as I think he is a great player already, but each offers something different. AVB I think today said that Spurs are open to offers for Modric and also a few clubs are in talks, so it looks as though we are still trying to get him regardless of Madrid's strong interest and possible agreed deal. The one thing that I hope does not happen is that SAF gets discouraged from signing any other central midfielder if we miss out on Modric as I think that there are able players still out their that could improve us.

Finally, up top I think we will see one addition with Berbatov and Macheda leaving (regardless of Macheda's comments). I'm not sure what is going on with Angelo Henriquez, have we signed him or not? It seems not despite what was reported a while ago in the press. I certainly don't see RVP coming in, and its likely that the Lucas Moura rumour is a cover for the Modric saga or its just to sell newspapers. Us bidding £30 million for a 19 year old Brazilian seems to go against our style in the transfer market.

While I hope that we sign 2 or 3 more, Baines is the only definite. A central midfield signing depends on how SAF feels if we lose out on Modric, I hope that he signs an alternative if Madrid beat us to Modric.

Hi guys and gals, I never post much so have a bit to get off my chest, so it’s a bit of a long read lol.

To say we have only spent big 3 times in our history is wrong, you have to take into account how much money was spent in a certain era, to give a few examples Veron £27m at a time when the biggest transfer in the world was £37m or so, thats Just £10m off the world transfer record at that time, then there was Van the man £25m around the same time, as was Rio, Before that there was Yorke coming in at around £12.5m and that was considered BIG money too,
even further back, Keane was signed for around £10m was it?
My point is, although now the record is £80m and that is crazy, but if we even spent half of that think of the players we could of signed, Ageuro, Silva, Yaya, Drogba, Snijder etc.
The simple point years ago we were competing with the likes of the Madrid, Milan’s and Barca’s of this world for the top players in the world, I’m not stupid enough to say if it was only a matter of the money these players would def sign for us, but the likes of Ozil, Silva and Sanchez would of had a lot more to think about when moving clubs, we just never seem to be big players in the market at the moment.
There is something quite wrong with our club at the moment, because we are competing with midtable clubs like Valencia and spurs, years gone by if it was a choice between us and those sorts (I know Valencia were a very successful club about 8 years ago) we would blow them out of the water no matter what, now we see we are in a race with the like of spurs for Moutino and its looking slim!!! For god’s sake we are UNITED one of the biggest clubs in the world.
the players I mentioned have got away lets pray the new crop of players don’t to, like Modric, Moura, M’villa etc, but I fear while the Glazers are owners they will. Yes now and then we will find a gem i.e. Hernandez, but how many Bebe’s will it take to find one or two?
I love my club and would always continue to support it through the thick and thin, we will never do a Liverfool but it also won’t be nice just doing an arsenal either.

Right rant over lol thanks for reading
Chris the redman {Ed007's Note - Roy Keane cost £3.75 million Chris, but it was a British transfer record and the best £3.75 million EVER spent on anything, not just a footballer.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Was it? my mistake, I just remembered reading that it was a big transfer, and ys it was the best 3.75m ever spent

Chris the redman

Agree0 Disagree0

Ruud was 19 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Although Chris has got his figures all wrong he does have a point. We have spent big moeny a lot of the time, particularly on English players going back to Bryan Robson, smashed the transfer record think it was £1.8m odd, the Roy Keane deal £3.75m if Ed is correct was a record, Rooney the record for a teenager, Andy Cole I believe may have been a record at the time of £7m or so. Then look at Carrick, Hargreaves up until lately Phil Jones. We have always been prepared to spend big on British players and generally they have always chosen us against any other British club, this situation may be changing with the money of clubs like City and Chelsea.
I would say its very rare we spend big on foreign signings though. Veron being the only HUGE one I can remember and Ruud, Stam, Anderson and Nani being pretty big signings.

my my i believe GDS has shown his true colours in all its glory with his latest glazer loving post, how can signing lucas moura make any difference in our opinion of the glazers,it would be the clubs monwy they are spending,it wont happen anyway we all know that, like i told you since 2009 77% of all revenue has gone to servicing the glazer debt in one form or another, its ok for you to be optimistic or even blaise over how they run OUR club but you actively challenge people for having anti-glazer sentiments which is strange to say the lesst,NO true fan would have a problem with anyone having a bad opinion of the glazers running of the club as its blatantly obvious bad for the club to not be competitive in the transfer market, like i say its ok to put a positive spin on our situation to make yourself and others feel better but your different you have the glazers backs, just saying......

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Did you read all the comments? Surely it was obvious my post was to wind up the people like you who get no enjoyment from being a fan.

I have said on so many occasions that I don't like the glazers, but I love supporting Manchester united more than anything and I get a lot of enjoyment out of how great we are. We are still the great team and probably always will be. My post wasn't really anything to do with the glazers was it, I was saying I hope we spend big on moura. Don't take things so bloody serious, lighten up and enjoy football, it's a hobby after all matey.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree2

I don't challenge anyone for having anti glazer sentiments, I challenge people who blame every little thing on the glazers but then if something good happens give them no credit whatsoever.

Some people just have such blinkers when it comes to hating the glazers they cannot see anything good happening at the club, of which there are quite a few things.

I want to look to the future, I replied to your post about the 77% thing by saying that if we paid the debt off we would have them funds to use on the club but you did not get back to that. Surely it is a positive if we had no debt repayments? Other than suggesting the glazers will just take all the money which you don't know to be the case, what other negatives are there?

I would appreciate if you stop sending such personal posts like this, and use paragraphs, getting a bit scared lol.

Thats what i like to read on here, a realist, someone who tells it like it is. Well said Mick....
HERBIE

Mick the red fireman

Yet another "fan" who believes that everything good about United is inspite of the Glazers and everything bad is because of the Glazers. Im sorry HERBIE but thats not realism. The Glazers havent been ideal so far, I give you that but if they are working to make us debt free whether it be by flotation or other means and this results in more money being made available for squad investment then that can only be a good thing.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree1

Do you seriously believe the glazers are working to get utd debt free for the good of the club or for themselves.everything they have done since becoming owners is line there pockets and that will not change.gds you ask what other negatives there are how about we cant attract any top stars anymore and dont blame the weather it never stopped us pre glazers.you also say following utd is a hobby,i can assure you that for a lot of people myself included it is much more than a hobby.
johndenton

Agree2 Disagree1

I think as a summary most anti Glazers are moaning about the debt and the various ways it is effecting our team.

Others argue that when the debt goes we are in far better a position than we would have been partly down to their influence.

Now I think they will only dissappear if there is a monsterous bid that only a nutter would turn down. So if say this happened tomorrow and they sold up we would be in a far better place financially than the club was before they turned up that is surely a good thing?

On the flip side it is us that has paid off all the debt so far created by them and this definitely ruffles some feathers with folk. Whereas you could argue that with the increase of sponsorship they have helped increase the cash coming in so we can pay that off while still having money for transfers. Of course the point is we are still paying off debt that we shouldn't be.

Add on the fact other teams have sugar daddy owners chucking cash here, there and everywhere the state of our ownership gets highlighted even further. Out with having a sugar daddy of our own we cannot compete financially with them and service the debt at the same time. So it makes sense to rid the debt and with the higher intake of cash we will have the ability to compete again.

Now that maybe happening with the float so we would be debt free and in a better state than before but with a weak (in comparisson to other elite teams) squad and no doubt that has been directly effected by 2 factors. 1) We have not been able to get our primary targets over the last few years due to whatever reason and 2) SAF stubbourness in not going with anything other than Plan A (which could be happening again with Modric). So the Glazers could part some blame if the targets were lost through finance reasons but Ozil, Villa, Varane, Hazard and the likes have chose to move to other teams for their own reasons so hardly down to the Glazers.

Although the ownership of the Glazers will always be a case for and a case against the one constant is that with or without the debt we are still pulling in far more as a business now than we were previously.

Whether some fans wish to see that as a positive or not is their choice!

Personally I think its very unlikely that Madrid will sign Modric, where would they play him? Hes not going to drop ozil as he was magnificent last season and they are rumoured to want David Silva who will play on the right and ronaldo on the left and highly doubt he would play him as a dm. If hes under the 30 million pricetag than united might go for him, if hes not then i think he will go to PSG

Right, I know this isn't my clubs website but I had to put this rumour to bed: LEIGHTON BAINES IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO JOIN YOUR CLUB! First of all I noticed Sydney saying "Baines talks have been going on for quite some time now and it is very likely that he will join" (or something along those lines) Now, Manchester United have made absolutely no enquiry about Baines what so ever! All this talk is coming from the mail and if I remember correctly the same paper reported that Redknapp was a certainty for the England job, Moyes was off to Spurs and United were the likeliest club to sign Hazard. Morale of the story: Don't trust paper talk. Secondly, Baines was quoted recently that he is extremely happy at Everton and is optimistic for the fourth-coming season and even saying that the only way the club can move forward is to keep hold of its big players. Why would he go against his own words? And finally, Baines was also quoted saying that he would relish the day when Steven Piemaar become an Everton player again so they could once again form their infamous partnership. Everton are within touching distance of resigning Pienaar and in fact the deal is expected to be announced by the end of next week. Doesn't make sense for him to leave after saying that....... Oh well, rant over. From an Evertonian who is certain that Baines will not leave. BarryBlueNose

I hear Baines has agreed personal terms with United and the only hold-up is the two clubs unable to agree a fee. Deal imminent I hear.

I envy your passion Barry and personally I would love to see Baines in a United shirt come next season but we still have Evra, and although some say he has lost it, I think he has at least a season left in him which is why I can only agree with you on this post. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just dillusional.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure its likely Baines would be just as excited to be playing with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Shinji Kagawa, Ryan, Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nemanja Vidic and Antonio Valencia to name but a few. Pienaar pales into insignificance compared to the players at United, which is why he didn't make it at Spurs.

I don't know where you 'hear' this from Sydney but I have an extremely reliable source (trust me when I say 'extremely') who works very high up at Everton and he told me that the has been absolutely no contact between Baines and Manchester United what so ever and there has also been no enquiries about the player from any club never mind United.

Welsh Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Welsh, before RM got involved we were likely to sign him. The fact that our club is still negotiating with Spurs and never followed up our interest in Moutinho with a bid shows that the manager is still confident of signing him. RM have money issues so they could pull out at any time. Although they are still faves to sign him you never know. RM like to use their paper (Marca) to do their deals for them. They like to print stories saying the player only wants to join them and that it's a done deal and they hope other teams back off so they can get the player cheaper. Well United are not backing off so clearly our manager still believes he can sign him.

I think this could be a terrible summer for us in all honesty.

Nani's contract has 3 years left on it and negotiations are still ongoing but its looking like we wont agree to his expectations and so were trying to shift him but i think clubs are being clever and can see this so there going to wait til next summer and hel leave for peanuts when hes one of our most prized assets.

We need to sell him quickly or just match his terms and shift him next summer as hed go for 25-30million now or 15million (ish) in his last year

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Nani is 10x a better player than what Nasri is and Arsenal managed £24 million when he was on one year left, If nani is up for sale there will be a bidding war between Anzi,PSG,Inter,Juventus and Real Madrid (Also with past interest) a bidding war would get his price up to £30 million even with one year left

Just gonna throw my two cents into it. I dont want Modric to join United, Especially for such a high fee! Id rather have someone who can finish, Or provide steel in Midfield!
Spurs want 30-35 Million for him. We already have Kagawa and Powell (Potentially) to create enough chances for Strikers to finish.
In my honest opinion I dont think Rooney Welbeck or Hernandez have enough finishing prowess to provide the goals that will win us back the title. If we keep Berba and give him more games next season i think he will come good (If he isnt sold) Otherwise i dont see us winning the league unless we Buy a top quality finisher.
Another thing i have mentioned is our lack of steel in Midfield, to be fair, tackling is not Scholes's strong point, Cleverly isnt strong enough and, Carrick is slow, Anderson when fit isnt naturally a ball winner, If Fletcher comes back fully fit i would be happy otherwise i am a bit worried that we are going to be short in the centre of the pitch.
I know not everybody will agree but its just my thoughts on what we need to do to be successful next season!
Let the slating Begin!
James

Believable3 Unbelievable1

No slating, they're all valid points.

Modric's value comes in quick link play and swift transition from defense to attack... Not necessarily the killer pass from a no. 10 position - So he would play deeper than Rooney or Kagawa. Probably along side Carrick.

It is premium prices for a very good player... Only time can say if he is worth it where ever he goes.

DodgyBanter

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a quick question, who is the defensive midfield battler in Barcelonas' team? or Reals or Arsenals? or even Chelseas? who won the CL by defending! There is no need for a Roy Keane or a Claude Makalele if the other team cant get the ball off you.

Flimbo

Agree0 Disagree3

Modric is a different player to kagawa and Powell, he sets up the attacks he doesn't set up the goals. For me he would be the next best thing after Paul scholes, and especially now scholes is leaving we need someone to control possession.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree1

Barcelona - Busquets
Arsenal - Song
Madrid - Khedira
Chelsea - Was Essien now they dont really have one
Man City - Barry, De Jong and Yaya

Agree2 Disagree0

Busquets is anything but a tough tackling midfielder, hes a coward who spends more time rolling aroung the grass than battling for the ball! Song is a very creative midfielder who tackles but no more than Scholes which doesnt qualify him as a defensive midfielder and Khedira is only seen as the defensive midfielder at Real as hes nowhere near as good at attacking as the rest of the midfielders in the squad, I didnt mention City but i'll allow you De Jong but Barry was a left sided CM and winger for most of his career and Yaya toure is superb at attacking and decent at defending so in essence he is a CM not a DM, Essien is the exception but as you said he doesnt really play anymore and why? Cos Chelsea dont play with a DM anymore

The point is that the team doesnt need someone who will operate solely as a defensive midfielder and thats probably the reason SAF wont sign one

If we have any chance of winning our title back ...and yes our title then fergie must think about buying 2 yes 2 quality midfield creative midfielders...
Joao Moutinho and Javi Martinez are signings who would really give us a boost . Moutinho would be ideal; his box-to-box abilities and well-rounded repertoire of skill makes him a rare breed in world football.

Javi Martinez, though is not as creativebut would still give United a big boost of quality in midfield.

This may be controversial, but how about we keep Anderson and give him a chance for just one more season. I seriously think he will be a great player, tenacious, strong, hard working and i think we spent too much money on him to let him go for such a measly price. Give him a run of games where he hopefully wont get injured, and i truly believe he'll come good.

MelonRed

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Ive always loved watching Anderson and always backed him up and when hes fit hes a great talent but he is always injured tbh it has ruined hi career he could of been a world class attacking midfielder and failed

Agree3 Disagree1

I think Anderson can cut it in the premier league and domestic cups but sadly not in Europe. We need a big midfield player that can control the middle but at the moment I think the only one in our squad that can do this is scholes. We really need Modric as I think he has all the the above, but I think will mis out on him and all the quality players were being linked to. The only bit if business we will do now is proberly Baines and I can't see why!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the problem though, it is more his injury record which is in doubt rather than his ability

He's been here what 5 odd years? I can't remember him having a good run of games without eventually getting injured

Gav

I like him also but i think to see him at his best he needs a real holding mid on the park so he can concentrate on his own gamd, his best games were alongside hargo,in my opinion.

Anyone know if petrucci has signed his new deal yet? he's going to be a star! I believe SAF is planning to introduce youth to the midfield next year with tunicliffe who reminds me on Roy Keane and petrucci who is just sheer quality. When you look at some of these players we don't need another signing, tunicliffe is a box to box midfielder who breaks up play and he can run for 90 mins! What does everyone else think?

Caolan

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Tunners is not a box2box player in my opinion he is a very defensive anchorman type player which may help us more as then it releases the front 4 or so to be more attacking.... Petrucci hasnt signed a new contract yet i dont think but i also think he is a outstanding prospect id love to see them both in the an around the premier league squad maybe on the bench and used in the odd game

Agree1 Disagree0

I'll be glad if they get their chance in the first team squad but not if we rely on them, we need proven quality in CM imo. What happens if we get a couple injuries (likely) and we have to play these 2 in a CL knockout game? I'd rather we bring in a Modric/Moutinho and have Scholes/Cleverly for backup and rotation. The youngsters would still be given their chance in cameos and domestic cup games and be ready to start in 1-2 years if they're good enough

Gav

Agree1 Disagree0

Tunnicliffe scored something like 4 goals last year a true anchorman is mackale (spelling) who got about 4 in his career. I doubt we will get Modric, moura and moutinho if you think about signing someone for 30 million you are stalling cleverly, Petrucci and tunnicliffe!

We will not sign Lucas Moura, he is surplus to requirements with Powell and Kagawa being signed, we probably won't sign another striker with the likes of Macheda and Diouf coming back, in my opinion Macheda will have a great season providing he gets gametime which is vital for someone his age. the only possible signings really are a LB for cover for Evra, and a holding midfielder to replace Fletcher, as unfortunately even if he does recover then he still won't be able to play as much as he used too, my only prediction for a big money move will be Moutinho.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Diouf will not be coming back as we sold him last season. Macheda is never going to be United quality and will be sold if anyone is dumb enough to pay the 2million. Baines will probably signed and that means he will be first choice Evra will be the cover.

Diouf was sold last summer and I really expect Kiko to follow him out the door. I think Spurs will sign Moutinho as United have not followed up their interest in him any further. It seems the manager is going all out for Modric.

I really dont get all these fans who think our club is going to crumble. I am not being deluded when I say this is Manchester United for god sake!

Even if we have a season or two without a trophy we will still be fighting on all fronts, our footballing accounts will still make a profit and eventually the debt will be gone. If our ship does begin to sink then the Glaziers wont want to sink with it and will sell, they are not stupid and if they do sell, only the worlds richest can afford and we will end up on top.

I am 100% confident that we will be at least a top 3 team for the next 10 years without a doubt and I am even more positive we will have more trophies.

The Glaziers have turned alot of loyal fans into bags of nerves with this debt and a lot of you are sounding like spoilt kids with much of what you are saying. I am 19 years old, I was born in 1992 and all I have ever experienced is joy and success with United. You think that would change if we were not successful? No.

How many players have we signed at a really high price since Fergie was here? You can count them with your fingers on one hand if I am thinking Correctly (Veron, Ferdy, Rooney, Berbs)? so it doesn't matter who we sign if they are 30m or not.

Just have some faith in the club and you will see that we are always going to be a force.

Agree 100% with this, is what I have been trying to say for a couple of weeks.

Fans seem to think we have always spent 30-40 million on players, when in reality we have only done that 3 times in our history.

They want the big spending just because that is what City are doing but their project is different to ours.

I am a little older than you but feel just as lucky to have only experienced success and joy. If that was not the case then so be it, we are lucky to support the greatest club in the world.

Couldnt agree more. Sustainability is a key word in the Glazers project and this is what has been shown since their takeover. Chelsea and City cannot go on spending 200 million a season on players. Fergie isnt always right about the market but the value today is ridiculous. Look at Carroll. 35mill one summer and a loan to West Ham the next.
Kagawa is a great buy and we will continune to invest in players of this ilk i.e who are committed to the club and represent a fair price. Its all a balancing act and i for one as a die hard fan am happy about it.
fergie will never let this club slip and vicotry is integrated and always will be

I really dont like them but how much did most of Barca's 1st team actually cost them? Iniesta, Xavi, Busquests, Pedro, Messi, Puyol, Pique? not much at all. This is the future, not spending 200million on mercenaries like Tevez every season only for them to sit on the bench.

Agree4 Disagree0

Good post.

The same happened when Chelsea first came on the scene - suddenly fans were expecting us to go out and spend £20m and £30m on players like theres no tomorrow, just because they did it. The truth is our transfer strategy is the same now as it always has been; buy mostly young, promising players but with a ready made top player thrown in every few years. I remember being gutted that we didn't sign Ronaldinho and Batistuta before that, just as I was gutted when we didn't get Benzema or Sneijder. But we are still United and will always try to move forwards, that will never change

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

When we needed to buy key players for the team in the past SAF didn't hesitate to break records to buy players like Pally, Keane, Cole, Rio, Rooney. Right now the team needs investment in key players and it is needed this summer.

A lot of people have only known success and don't realise that the teams success in recent years has mainly been down to players like Nev, Rio, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo all who arrived or were developed pre Glazer. Success is not automatic and Liverpool 1990 is a good example of what happens where a club loses its edge. The real question is whether the Glazers would risk seeing their investment crumble though lack of investment or whether they will do only as much is needed. Do they think they can get away with minimal spending? we will know in a few weeks.

I think it is fair to say we respect Luka's ambitions and his willingness to move on, and I think Luka respects as well that he is an important player for the club who can help us move forward.

"I think ongoing discussions with these various clubs will continue until we reach an agreement which is sensible for each party."

Asked to confirm that it looked like Modric would be leaving, Villas-Boas added: "Not really. The willingness is there from the player but a player of this importance is not easy to part company with.

"But I think the chairman is a person who respects the values of the football club and only with the right offer will we take that step."

From what I have heard from numerous journalists is Modric wants the RM move and Spurs want to sell to Madrid as opposed to another EPL club. The problem is RM do not have the funds to buy Modric outright or at least do not have the funds to buy Modric as well as their other summer targets. AVB has confirmed that "various clubs" are talking to Spurs, it seems we are one of those teams along with PSG. We have a chance of signing Mods as RM may not be able to afford him, but RM are the favourites as we stand because the player wants the move more than the United move. That is what the story is according to most. Not sure if it's 100% true. Apparently it will cost us more to get Modric than it would cost RM for example. Spurs really do not want him to move to OT. Spurs are also very close to signing Moutinho who has agreed personal terms with Spurs.

Lol at 'MD's post. He makes a good point though, no one thing 'cost us the title'!

b) the City thrashing cost us because of the goal difference
c) the Wigan game cost us as we didn't play Scholes
d) the City game cost us because we didn't play Valencia

Anything less and our midfield would be torn apart on a weekly basis.

Something like this might work -

-------------DDG------------
Rafael--Smalling--Vidic--Evans
Valencia-----M'Villa-------Nani
--------Moura--Kagawa------
------------Rooney----------

- although tbh I'm still not convinced there's any real interest in signing Moura or that if there is we're anywhere near concluding a deal (my mind jumps back to a month or so ago when The Sun reported that Modric to United was a done deal for £26m).

ed 001 as your the youth expert who are the top under 18 players? Who should we keep an eye out for? {Ed001's Note - I never claimed to be an expert, I said it was my area of interest! Outside of United, there are obvious ones like Liverpool's Raheem Sterling, then there are the likes of Luke Shaw at Southampton, Max Clayton, Liam Wilson and Ryan Colclough at Crewe. A couple of years back Wolves had the hottest prospect out there, Zeli Ismail, but his progress stalled, when everyone was expecting him to be the next big thing. It shows how difficult it is to know who will make it from the youth ranks, hence why I was suggest the best places to look for big talent are Southampton and Crewe. They both have a proved track record of bringing players through the right way and to be able to play football with the ball at their feet. United will make 2 more signings max. Lucas Moura is a no go, we have already signed 2 young attacking midfielders in Kagawa and Powell, yes Kagawa can play wide left but I doubt him being played in front of Nani and Young, and Powell can play up front, but again we have Welbeck in hot form, and we also have Macheda coming back who iin my opinion will have a great season providing he gets game time seen as though he's only 20 he has a lot of potential. The only signings I can see us making are a full back for cover for Evra, and a holding midfielder as unfortunately even if Fletcher comes back, he won't be able to play as much as he used too. the most likely 25m player is Moutinho if we sign a big name.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Agree3 Disagree1

Red Joe, it's irrelevant what Kiko or his agent says on the United website or to other media sources. They do not decide who's in next season's squad. Come back on September 1st and we will see if he is still at the club.

Andy, we are still in for Modric despite what the papers are saying about him Madrid bound. Yes he is favourite to sign for RM, but they are yet to agree a fee so we are still in with a chance. I do think we could be left wanting with Moutinho joining Spurs and Modric joining Madrid. Just hope the manager has a plan C.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree3

Macheda has an issue not just with his attitude but with his pace. He is no Teddy Sheringham so for me he isn't going to make it now. Shame because he had great promise when he scored the hattrick in the reserves and that goal against Villa.

Nani has been discussed at length but indications are that we either haven't offered him a contract extension are refusing to meet his expectationssuggesting we want to shift him on. He has 2 years left on his contract so this is his maximum value , next summer he would be our Nasri or RVP

The club appear to be looking at younger players that frankly would replace Nani. If we don't get one of them then Nani could stay but where would that leave his contract situation? I make no bones about it that we need a change in Nanis position and all indications are the club are looki g and they are trying so hard it seems likely their mind is made up but we will know soon enough.

A CM and a player like Rodriguez or Moura plus a left back would be a good summer

No rumour but I'm interested in people's thoughts on the idea of bringing out of contract 33 year old Riquelme to OT.

I'm thinking along the lines of one of Fergies Blanc / Larsson type signings.

I know it's never going to happen, but then again who'd have thought that we'd bring either of those two players to the club when we did.

I could only see Riquelme working in a three man midfield and would probably be most effective in European games.

Also, perhaps a change of role ala Scholes/Pirlo would make him more effective now he's older.

Anyway, with not very much actually happening on the transfer front, I thought I'd throw this one out there to keep us amused.

Well he's a great player! Like you said, he'd play in a three man midfield. So after signing Kagawa I don't see much need attacking wise, and deeper, a la Scholes/Pirlo, I'm not sure he'd be able to handle British football. And we still have Scholes and Cleverley needs game time too. Generally I just don't think it's needed.
Plus you gotta remember that Larsson was only a short loan and Blanc was not entirely a success (debatable).

I took a quick look on YouTube so from what I saw.
Small low centre of gravity able to change direction quickly. A bit like Ronaldo can shift the ball quickly and comfortably between feet. He seems to have good acceleration over five yards not unlike Maradona had plus he looks strong enough physically to ward off challenges. Tends to cut to the right and seems predominantly to shoot right footedly but the right foot is powerful. He can use his left but tends to be a little more deliberate but takes it on to his left indicating he is confident in using it. Has high potential in a not dissimilar way to Ronaldo. The difference being Ron was £12m and this kid could be 25 plus million.

I always feel you can judge a player better in the flesh than selectively on video so our scouting needs to have been done already, if he stars in the Olympics his price will go up.

we will "bid" for players we clearly cannot get
or put up a fraction of the wages or fees and lose out
tunnicliffe our savior?
and the rest? all added in not a fraction of giggs right foot when he was 18
he was just average in a very poor youth league
the best were Morrison and pogba
where are they?
money grabbers? or that we could not afford to keep them?
two great signings coming up...
giggs and scholes

how come the greatest club in the world are bargaining in a second hand workshop?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Gan

Do you truly expect United to be able to compete with the likes of PSG, City and Chelsea in the current climate?
I'll remind you that Giggsy's right foot was brought to us through good scouting and player development. As was Pogba and Morrison, who were overvalued by many on here as well as themselves. But unfortunately for a business, they were asking for exceptions to be made. Once one or two youth players land big contracts and have their demands met, others will ask. It sets a dangerous precedent that a successful business cannot afford.
I believe we are the greatest club in the world, but there are many other great clubs out there that are far worse off than ourselves.
Before I get slated for being Pro-Glazer, I'm not. But that's where we are right now.
I enjoy your posts gan but how about being positive as well as realistic? You're bringing me down these days, man.

"Flexing our muscles" could lead to a crippling financial situation. City, Chelsea and PSG are on a completely different financial level.

I would rather have a crocked Micheal Owen than Macheda.

I rather have Owen any day even with his health issues over a healthy Macheda.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ok so Macheda hasnt been great and I have slated him myself but lets not forget how young he is and it is also worth baring in mind that the quick passing style of play we all anticipate may very well benefit Macheda. Give him a chance in the area and he will hit the target so having Nani, Valencia, Kagawa, Rooney and co buzzing around him he may just fulfill his potential.

TK-Red

I'm glad you're not head of youth development then.... People want too much too soon...

Quick passing style....that puts Macheda sh*t out of luck then. He will suit his game even less!
He has no pace what so ever. His first touch is terrible and he constantly wonders offside.
It doesn't matter how young he is he will never make the grade at United.
He couldn't even get a game out on loan at Sampdoria and QPR.

I hope everyone is not too dissappointed when we realise that the only other signing we make this summer is Baines.

Seriously we have signed 2 top class attacking midfielders particularily Kagawa.

I hope I'm wrong as I do feel we need a holding mid but as for am I feel that maybe it.

am- Kagawa, Powell, Young, Nani, Valencia,Scholes, Giggs,Rooney (if needed)

so lets stop with the Maura rumours and maybe look at someone like Schweinsteiger, dreamland i no but someone of that mould as well as Carrick. We dont need a tough tackling rogue in the middle as that will just stifle creativity.

I think this Lucas Moura rumours are more of a paper talk. If we look at our existing mid field we have Nani, Young, Anto, Giggsy in the wings with Welbeck too can play in that role. Plus we have added Kagawa who can play behind the main striker as well as wings. Same goes for Young.. So until n unless we are offloading Nani, i dont think we will be looking at Moura. And if he comes in then that will be the end of Nani at Old Trafford.

Good afternoo mates. Although this is my first time of posting here, I am a follower of this great site for a long time.
My questions are for thd Eds. Sydeny and the rest;
1. All those players that we are linked with , are they for real or just journalist filling their emty columns.
2. All those failings towards players, did we really competed for them?
Thank you all.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

1. Some will be paper talk, some won't.
2. United were very interested in Hazard. But he would have just been a replacement for Nani in the squad. The club are very interested in Modric and Baines too.

Sydney!

Although spurs are talking to a couple of clubs, modric has his heart set on madrid, the hold up being spurs either want money plus a certain player, madrid want to give money plus a player very much surplus to requirments, which does not impress spurs! but besides the small gap, modric wants madrid!!

Here's an idea. What if all this Moura links are just us playing hardball with Nani and his people? If we keep him for another two years on an improved but not drastiscally improved contract his 30m sale could go straight into the new managers coffers. Would explain why we are speaking to nani while also linked to another winger.

On the other hand I would drive Moura from Brazil and Nani to his new home if the plan was to swap them.

Moura also fits the Glazer signing criteria. 19 years old so we sign him now, keep him for 6 years and make him world class and then he can realise his dream Spanish move for 60+m after that.

I could live with that.

News in the tabloids today and it just so happens that a work colleague of mine told me yesterday the he had chosen to come to us this season via a guy he knows works at OT. I know it sounds like your typical BS rumour but do you think this has any substance? For me think it would cost too much money when you take his age and injury record.

Langers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Arsenal editor has said that RVP's demands were extreme. Seems the "I am not interested in money" story is false regarding him. Also giving his poor injury record and his age I think it's highly unlikely we would part with more than £15m for him. I think he is nailed on to join City.

am i the only one that is sick of hearing fellow man united fans moaning about players wanting more money blah blah blah and about playing for the badge.....wat a load of nonsense!!

at the end of the day they are human beings making a living at doing what they love most.....just like the rest of society (well not all as I for one hate my job)

but lets be real, lets say Human A is working in a really good job and is getting 30 Blobs a month, another job offer comes in offering him 60 Blobs a month......obviously your going to accept the new job as long as its not some job where your having to rehome the rest of your family to the peak of mount everest........

all this playing for the badge is a load of crap, rooney is an everton fan and loves / supports them, all he does is play for man united (payrise of December 2010 helped to keep that possible)

all im trying to get at is because certain players dont want to play for us doesnt make them money grabbing mercanaries........its because they are being offered a better deal somewhere else, or perhaps its just because they may not like us or watever they shouldnt have to give a reason, not everyone in the world supports us and its time to wake up and smell the coffee to realise that....

I feel the same as you about the off-season and Nani.
We spent so much on Ando and Nani that I'm refusing to give up on them. Especially after seeing glimpses of what they can offer. I guess it comes down to the offers that come in for them and the other options available, as we saw with Juve and Nani last season.

Right, this is way out there, but I thought I might as well introduce the argument and see how much stick I get...

Is SAF going to try and use Rooney as more of a central midfielder like this:

__________DDG
Rafa__Small__Vidic__Baines
_____Rooney_Carrick
Valencia__Kagawa___Nani
________van Persie

I know that this probably seems to be a really weird idea, but it could work as Rooney has a lot of the attirbutes i.e. great passing, top work rate and obviously very good going forward. Also we would have hard working wingers in Valencia, Nani and Young.

I know I will probably get stick for this...but thoughts?

RedDevil19

Believable2 Unbelievable8

No

Dylan

Agree2 Disagree0

Rooney is not good enough to play there as he proved last season on a couple of occasions and he would also be wasted there. Rooney on form is better than RVP on form so if anything they would line-up together with Rooney just behind him and Kagawa slightly to the left of Rooney..

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree1

I think SAF will go for Moutinho for the midfield berth alongside Carrick but I dont think this is as far-fetched as it may appear. We need players who are versatile and can cover multiple roles and there is an argument that Rooney's style, i.e. runs every blade of grass, is more-suited to a box-to-box midfielder anyway!

I think Rooney could do a great job for us in midfield and possibly thats a future role SAF recognises for him too.

Logically we will try to fill the midfield gap with an established class midfielder lke Mouthinho.

Personally, if we failed in our bid for Moutinho - quite possibly given the lure Spurs have of London and working with AVB again - I would go all out to get Cabaye from Newcastle. If neither want to head to OT I think Our Favourite Scouser could be worth a shot at a midfield role.

Halesini

Agree2 Disagree0

I'll imagine you'll get plenty of stick!

I actually don't think it would be the worst move, in football you want your best players on the ball, in CM, Rooney would get on the ball loads and his passing is fantastic, his energy is great and he is a clever player. He drops deep anyway and isn't a striker who run's in behind defenders so will still score goals coming from deep. He went into CM a couple of times in the last two seasons so he is familiar with the role!

I can't see it happening but if we could get a decent striker then why not experiment. On a side note, Valencia plays CM for Ecuador!

So RedDevil19, I'll share the stick with you now :)

I see where you are coming from but why spend 20-25mil on a 29 year old who to be fair up unitl last season has had a good few injuries, when Rooney can do just as good a job in that postion with the right service. i personnally would be looking to spend that money on a younger more versitile midfielder to partner carrick/cleverly.

It just wouldnt work. Rooney was played in midfield last season and he didnt perform. He doesnt have a good enough first touch to play in those tight spaces.

Forgive me for being a pesamist but am i the only one that thinks that MUFC are in trouble. I have thought for a while we cant/dont attract the elite players anymore. I dont know if its an accurate translation but Lucas Mouras agent had a dig at italian football saying its broken and clubs release false stories to please fans, also said it happens in England and non moreso than Manchester United. This seems to be ringing true doesnt it. Im a massive UTD fan, but also a realistic one and if we think over the past 5 years the players we have apparently "tried to sign", Torres, Silva, Nasri, Villa, Hazard, Modric to name a few and how many have actually come close to joining??
So it wouldnt suprise me one bit if we didnt sign the Grade A player we have all been waiting 3-4 seasons for, and Fergie will come out and say we tried but......

Believable2 Unbelievable3

We have already signed one 'grade A' player in Shinji. We were unlucky regarding Hazard and we are unlucky regarding Modric. Chelsea never looked like winning the UCL being second best in every tie, but they won it and that was the only thing stopping him from joining us. RM are difficult to shrug aside as they have tremendous pull. If Silva was available then Modric wouldn't even be on their radar. We need some luck this summer and I hope we do sign another top player. I agree with Red Man that we need 2-3 this summer.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree2

I understand your feeling but like most fans you don't stop to think about the players we have/ have had in the past.

Sometimes it doesn't matter if we buy someone who is truly established as they may/ may not fit in anyway. It is the players we buy with less risk that pay off. In 2008 and 09, with the same debt if not bigger, we had a front three of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez. Any team in the world would have killed for that line up and Madrid have wanted it ever since.

Look at Tony V, he was bought from wigan for reletavly cheep yet now he is seen as one of the best in the world on the wing.

Even if we throw 30m at Martinez or Modric it doesn't mean they will be a hit, Look at berbs and Veron, so dont worry, we develope class and that is why we are 19 times champions and I feel 20 is around the corner.

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think we are in any more trouble now than we were when the likes of the original Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Nesta and a whole host of others have been linked however tenuously but not arrived at OT.

I think the Hazard situation does illustrate that for a foreign player the lure of Champs League and London will outweigh the 'grim up north' option that is United. C'est la vie.

Traditionally though we've never signed world class players - we've signed players with the potential to be world class, e.g. Keane, Vidic, Ronaldo, Rooney.

In Sept we will hear the usual from fergie gill and Sydney that we tried but were unlucky . we have heard that for 3 years now .no one is unlucky getting a central midfield player for 3 years in a row.

You either cant afford it or you are not trying hard enough and i for one refuse to beleive that the greatest manager of all time is trying hard enough

Cue the pro glazer brigade with their we spent 55m last year.but whats 55m when you are level with fulham and stoke in net spend terms over the last 5 or 10 years.

Ralph

Agree1 Disagree0

Here's Syd, as expected!
Kagawa wouldn't be at OT if a £30m pricetag had been put on him. Not denying he's a grade A player but he seems a one-off in that we managed to get him for a wonderful price, due to his contract running down.

If he was priced at £30m, and the usual suspects were linked, I'm convinced he wouldn't be wearing the red of United this season coming.

I'm with OP in a way. I still wait for us to actually succeed with one of these big bids. Until then, it's just a token gesture IMO, meant to convince the fans we're still in the market for world-class players.

Hazard, I'm not bothered about, his ego alone made him a gamble at that price.

But if we have another summer of showing an interest but not taking things further, well, same as last summer I guess.

RED_SKY

Agree2 Disagree0

RED_SKY, you seem to forget that we spent £50m last summer on three players. Why wouldn't we spend that amount on two players a year later? I understand your negativity after missing out on players in the past, but the window only officially opened ten days ago so perhaps you are being a little presumptuous.

The club will always look for bargains like every self sufficient club does. Do you think RM would have paid £25m for Sahin or £50m for Oezil & Khendira? We will look for bargains, but we will also pay top dollar for players too, £15m+ for Baines is ridiculously high if you ask me.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Syd,

Uh. Maybe because we don't have it to spend this summer? Just a guess? I could care less about that £50m mate, the past is the past. We're concerned about THIS SUMMER, and the possiblity of several players who would greatly improve us turning us down for whatever reason. Nobody can think that Kagawa and Powell are enough for us to challenge on all fronts. And everybody should be screaming about why we are refusing to strengthen the centre of our midfield.

If SAF has known it's a problem for this long, why isn't he 'trying harder' to get the right man/men for the job? I will continue to believe his hands are tied, until proven otherwise.

Also, you've blatantly got some kind of Word document with a bunch of responses ready to cut and paste. No human would repeat themselves, pretty much word for word, as often as you do. I think you might be an Editor, keeping the conversation/topics going........ ; )

RED_SKY {Ed007's Note - I can 100% guarantee you that Syd is not an Editor. To be honest about it Syd (along with all the regular posters) is too valuable as posters on the site to to become an Ed. It is all of YOUR opinions that keep the sites moving, Eds are far too busy to be messing about keeping threads going. We are going flat out already this window and it is still early days.}

Agree0 Disagree0

On another note Syd, agree fully about Baines. Would like him here, but that sort of fee could be used more wisely on CM.

We could get a cheaper LB, perhaps younger also, and then use the leftover to fortify our 'warchest' if we have one, for CM.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

And as predicted there is the pro glazer brigade with we spent 50 m last year . May i add on players that we will be able to and probably will sell for more in the future.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Ralph, wrong again. We have spent far more than both Stoke and Fulham over the past decade. I honestly belive for the right price 15-18 million we are seriously considering an offer, let's face it berbatov, Rooney, welbeck and chicharito

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Agreed, I've been saying that for the last few days, its suprising that most people on here would rather sign Yann M'Villa or when Van Persie is a proven world class player, different position obviously but he would improve our team and overall play a lot more than M'Villa would, its silly to say we dont need him

Thats funny I am sure you said we haven't got players who can score over 20 goals... Over the last two seasons three of the 4 have... and Welbeck didn't do too badly either....

I would go for RVP at the right price. £15m yes. £25m no. Appreciating its not my money etc etc.

We do need to consider that RVP has had in essence one fantastic injury-free season out of 8 with the Gooners and that must temper any poss deal. Theres no doubt tho that he is a truly class act.

Apparently welbecks contract negotiations have stalled due to his representatives wanting 60k a week, rather than the offered 40k basic

Is welbeck serious? 60k come off it, this is the thing with all these young ones they think they have already made it.. 12 goals isn't really enough to demand 60k a week.

Tbh ild issue a final offer take it or leave it, if he really wants to play for united he would accept it, otherwise on your way, sick of these young players thinking there big shots demanding this and that.

And away from welbeck United have activated a clause in berbatovs contract that extends his deal by another 12 months

Meet in the middle, give him 50 thousand and be done with it.

Thats how it works right eds? ;)

Herecy I know but ... a compromise deal of 50k a week would be fair. But if he wont sign, SELL Him.

Welbeck is a good player who I know has bags of potential but do we really see him as being a future great ? I just dont see it.

Lucas Moura looks a talent don't get me wrong but how could he possibly fit in the squad im guessing Ando would be used in the deal? Would love lucas at OT but if it happend i could only see a 451 with Lucas Kagawa in CAM roles? With Carrick holding mid? Also expect Baines to be a MUFC player by next week!

Forget all the player rumours-the best signing saf can make this summer is to re sign carlos quiroz(sorry 4 spelling)

Guys, while I think it unlikely, can I have your thoughts on where Moura would fit in to our squad if we were to sign him?

Andy

I think the whole Lucas Moura story is fake and I wouldn't worry about it.

He would be played out wide somewhere, Kagawa is for the middle and we could not get him into the middle of the pitch as he's not defensive minded enough.

Personally i believe we should sell rooney now when hes worth 30-50 million. Buy a world class in and out striker like RVP,Gomez or Lewandowski. Bring in a good holding midfielder like mouthino. Play 3 in the centre of midfield to control the game.

Kagawa, Mouthino and another good midfielder that we already have at the club, cleverly, scholes, carrick, giggs, fletcher etc. Then we wont be over ran in the midfield like we were at the ethihad last season. Play valencia on the right and nani/young on the left. Hopefully de gea will have bulked up this season and prove his critics wrong. Rafael and jones are two right backs, ferdinand and vidic first choice centre backs with smalling and evans as back up maybe carrick if hes needed as he is a big lad who can slot in back there if choices are scarce. Then evra at left back, hopefully a back up left back will be purchased as cover also.

You lost me at "sell Rooney" and just couldnt take the rest of the post seriously

Sell Rooney who still has years left in him ?

The only way id sell him was if we signed players before he was sold that were class so say Falcao and Moutinho and Moura and Coentrao all 4 and id be happy selling Rooney and Nani so No he wont be sold and shouldnt

Ah yes sell our best player again! Great idea.

I didn't even read the rest mate sorry.

I think De Gea more than proved his critics wrong with his displays following Lindegaard's injury. In my opinion, DDG, Scholes, and Tonie were our best players second half of the season.

Your On crack mate, sell Rooney? If we didn't have him we wouldn't be anywhere near the top.

Yeah he has his off days but his presence of just being on the pitch worries players!

So you want to sell our best player? The player who works his ass off every game for us to win? Oh what is wrong with some of our fans.

I agree. rooney isnt that great if the moneys right he should go an hopedfully saf wont f up sorting wellys contract too.

no i wont support city thanks im a utd fan

Rooney is better than all the strikers you mentioned, and we are trying to sign a midfielder we don't have to sell Rooney to buy players.

Don't know where to start with this post. Is this a LFC wind up. Lewandowski for Rooney so we can finance maybe a left back or Moutinho ? Carrick at CB ? I know hes played there before but he is not suited to that position, why even mention it. Lewandowski & Gomez world class. ? best recent example of this not being the case is to watch how many chances Gomez missed against Real in ECL semi final and how he only likes to shoot with one foot. 30m-50m for Rooney . your saying we could take 30m for Wazza when carroll was 35m, darren bent was over 20m a couple of years ago. dzeko 28m. I do hope you don't tell your freinds things like this. For your benefit mate. SHANDY

Sell Rooney and bring in an older RVP or Gomes?

And you expect peeps to take you seriously?

Does anyone know whether Modric is interested in Chelsea? I know he was previously but recently I have only heard him agree personal terms with us and then Real after us.
