An "In the know" reckons Shaw deal is done and signed for

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It isn't.}

Can you confirm ed that uniteds interest is real and whether a bid is likely

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sure, but Manchester United will likely have been told the same asking price that Chelsea were. Unless it is negotiated down the club will look elsewhere - and they have been.}

Same bloke has said Giggs has retired

Agree0 Disagree0

Reckon the "In the Know" guy should retire first

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard from a very reliable source that we are interested in a lot of players and might be letting a few go in the summer. He also told me that Giggs s getting on a bit. You heard to here first.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - great scoop AJH, your obviously a guy in the know.. :)

Yes I have a source that says capacity at OT will be increased to a whopping 75000 and Sharp will no longer be our shirt sponsors.

Agree0 Disagree0

I say shaw and Reus bids:)

Funny game Dortmund leading Bayern 3-0 having had 32 percent possession and 3 shots :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shows what might have been if Welbecks disallowed goal had been allowed or if his f*ck up in the same game had gone in. Ah well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern had already won their league. Do you think they all put in 100% against Dortmund?

Agree0 Disagree0

Must be why our players haven't put 100% this year they still think it's last season where they win the league by 11 points.

Am I the only person who is seriously worried by the rumours linking Van Gaal with United? I think that this Van Gaal is the third most over-hyped manager in world football after Sven and 'Arry! Please keep this man away from OT!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally rate van Gaal but think he is Tottenham bound along with over are and bergkamp as coaches

Agree0 Disagree0

Complete bs, we would never hire him. Klop or Simone maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was under the impression that Van Gaal came out previously and said he was in line to replace SAF when he first announced his retirement? He has massive experience and is a far better bet than the present incumbent but he wouldn't be my first choice. Also his age would lead to think it could only be a relatively short term appointment

My thought on this is that I hope we learnt from the utter mess created by going for only one (wrong) candidate last summer. If we are seriously looking at options then I hope we conduct a professional recruitment process considering the best candidates, which may include Van Gaal. I just hope he isn't under consideration because he would be available without having to pay compensation in the summer. That would be another mistake, if we change it needs to be the right candidate full stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Acker, I agree that VG will go to Spurs, but do you really see Bergkamp going there?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather be over rated and have 4 Dutch titles, a Spanish and German title, champions league title a few domestic cups and a couple of super cups than a charity shield and 2nd division title!

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Gaal is a good manager and would be seen as a steadying figure who could steer our ship back on course and leave the squad and club ready for the next manager.

Nearly every club he has gone to he has done the right things and left the club in a better state than he found it when he took over.

He would be seen as a short term option who could keep the team challenging while the club looks for the long term successor. Jupp Heynckes would be another option for this kind of role.

Personally I feel it could be a good option, its been mentioned that Frank De Boer could be a long term option, he is someone I would really like to see manage the club in a couple of years time. He has shown great tactical know how, good motivational skills and shown he has played good attractive football with a focus on progressing youth prospects.

Maybe if we went Dutch with Van Gaal with Rene as his number 2 for a couple of years with De Boer coming in a 2/3 seasons time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think VG would be a great appointment for us this summer. Proven at world class level. Great kno how, develops youth and is a big name in the football world with a proven track record of success that would have kno problem attracting the very best players even with no champs league. Has a real appetite to succeed in england just as he has done in holland, spain, and germany. Even if we only got 3 uears or so out of him we'd be back where we belong for sure ready for a good young manager to come in for the long term like De Boer, Klopp, or maybe even Pep. I would of loved for Moyes to come in and do better than he has so far and for us to be content with sticking with him, but i'm sure i'm not the only one that's nervous about the future, which I think is mainly down to Moyes having no track record of producing what we want ( success, exciting football )

Agree0 Disagree0

Van gaal has bags of experience and medals, plus he would bring in de boer as coach, has to be a step up from lumsden, apparently he is an expert talent spotter to boot, IF indeed we are interviewing for dithering daves post then van gaal would defo be on most peoples list of the coaches available, he has a vast knowledge of euro football and probably decent contacts within the game after such a long career,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - But there have been no discussions with van Gaal.}

Ed 2 - we know it's not true we just wish it was true! Spoil sport!

I'd have no problem with Van Gaal. Also, it seems like he's good at public speaking and he likes a cuddle:

I could imagine this kind of scene in Manchester city centre.

Agree0 Disagree0

Champions League winner with Total Football tactics versus whatever the hell it is we have now?

And some think Van Gaal wouldn't be an improvement on Moyes?

Really?

Sometimes the most obvious solution is the one staring you in the face.

Bad when I am saying West Brom are beating Totenham maybe 6th is a possibilty guys just maybegod how far we have dropped

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Everton being held by sunderland, arsenal on a mega bad run of form and spurs being beat by the baggies, keep the faith, 4th is in sight :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Stretford wish I had your optimism but do you see us taking all 15 points whilst Everton only take 6? And does that not sum up our season 33 games played who would of dreamt we would be 9 YES 9 points behind Everton ( no offence Everton fans)

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton 66 points, arsenal 64 points, Manchester United 57 points, i'm disregarding spurs, everton v palace 3 points, everton v Manchester United 0 points, southampton v everton 1 point, everton v man city 0 points, hull city v everton 1 point. everton total points 71 pts. arsenal v west ham 1pt, hull v arsenal 0pts, arsenal v newcastle 3pts, arsenal v west brom 3 pts, norwich v arsenal 1pt, arsenal total pts 72 pts. everton v Manchester United 3pts, Manchester United v norwich 3 pts, Manchester United v sunderland 3 pts, Manchester United v hull 3 pts, sothampton v Manchester United 3pts. Manchester United total points 73. its late and i'm drunk so hope my maths is correct but this is the hope i'm clinging on too, its along shot but until its impossible I won't stop believing :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

How will Everton drop all those points? They are winning for fun right now. optimism is great but you've just made up a set of results to get us t 4th. I don't think we will finish higher than 6th.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

13 Apr 2014 08:47:27
Stretfordender your Maths is indeed wrong i'm afraid mate. We have 57 points with a maximum of 15 to play for which means at best we can end up with 72 points not 73. Also I expect us to win against Hull, Sunderland and Norwich but it will be very difficult to beat both Everton and Southampton, I can see us dropping at least a couple of points against one of them.

Arsenal could well be distracted with the FA cup final on their players minds, so they could drop a few points, but we need them to drop at least 7 points which is abit much.

And Everton have a tough run in, with Us City and Southampton, but they will get 6 points against Palace and Hull. So we will need them to lose against us City and Southampton.

Its all possible but in the end I think we will look back and say it was a fanciful dream. I can't see both teams dropping the required number of points, and I doubt we'll win every game left of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fanciful and convenient that you've missed out Spurs who like it or not are in front of us too. I assume they'll just lose all their games like we will win all of ours? Get a grip man a 4th place finish went out the window early Feb at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok maths error, I did say I was scooped up, we will get 4th on goal difference then.

It's a shame we don't have a game this weekend young Wilson might have been on the bench again and may have even come on 5-10 mins score line depending.

Hopefully we go out to win all 5 remaining games. However unlikely fourth spot is, if we win all 5 games a have a chance. So let's show some balls and determination and go for it. If we get Europa we get Europa. We could play our second team if necessary with a mixture of the reserve players like Powell lingard Keane lined gases in goal. But one thing to remember a this can we become too arrogant to dismiss Europa league football? Who's to say we don't finish 8-9th next season. I know Europa would hinder us in going for a top four finish which is why I suggest playing some of our youngsters.

Finally Moyes needs to play Smalling jones as CBs and Buttner at lb.
Keep playing mata and Kagawa together.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mad hatter! I agree with a lot of what why are saying. Melts give Jones and Smalling a run at CB and see how they get on. Let's ya Mata and Kagawa together before a font 1. Looking forward to seeing Lined Gasses in goal as well.

With rumours of Rooney being out for the season anyone know when RVP is due back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think I read he may be back for Norwich game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully he'll miss the travesty that will be Englands world cup. He always struggles for us in the season after a world/european cup.

His game is so full on he needs a proper rest over the summer in order to be able to play for us to his full capacity during the season.
