I read some posts below where a few are of The opinion that signing sanchez would be detrimental to martial and rashford.
I think the opposite. Training and playing alongside a world class player like that can only improve them imo
Martial has magic in his feet but his movement off the ball is poor and his final ball has been inconsistent. If he can learn intelligent movement groom sanchez he will become a much more effective and rounded footballer.
Likewise with rash.
All 3 can play in any position acroos the from 3 or as a striker.
I don't think he will hamper their development he will raise the bar and show them what they need to do to get there.

Good shout. What he has that the others don't - at the moment - is end product. He's a terrier on the pitch with his work rate when he's on his game, but just lost motivation at Arsenal's consistent mediocrity.

Could be the difference and spark that brings us, say, an fa cup along with a deep run in the champs league (I believe he's eligible for both I think), plus min second place in the league.

Jan singings are risky but an established top drawer premier league player, that's still eligible for the cups, is as low risk as they come, putting aside the big money.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 22:49:20
I thought Zlatan was doing that? They are young but they aren't kids anymore. There is only so much you can learn from watching others. Now they need to try it for themselves, make mistakes and learn from them. Another player taking away game time will only slow that process.

Agree6 Disagree6

12 Jan 2018 23:03:18
Let them win their place then they are both inexperienced and need to improve they will improve with sanchez there if they don't what club can they go to that don't habe better players than enemy already? Who is to say either of them won't improve enogh and lukaku finds himself on the bench or he plays on the right and mata finds himself on the bench.

Your right shappy their not kids so let them rise tho the challenge that's what competing is all about. Sancez would raise the bar . Are they up to it? I think they are but they have to prove it.

Sanchez would be a major upgrade and we need major upgrade's.

I'm all up for honing potential, but we struggle with this. I see a lot in Martial, I truly think he can be one of the best, but it's a toss of a coin whether he will be or not for me.

Rash - I don't think is good enough. He is effective in certain scenarios but he is average in too many areas, I haven't see much of a kick on and young players often start with a flourish and then fade away. I'm sure he'll do well, but Rashford is currently well below the standard required to be a regular for an elite club, if he kicks on then great, but I don't think he has the X factor to be one of the worlds best.

So in summary Sanchez is a must signings and to hell with any development ideas for the others, we tried it this way and nobody is pulling up trees - we don't know how to bring these players from 7/ 10 to 10/ 10 - so let's buy the 10/ 10 and hope some magic happens with the potential stars of the future.

13 Jan 2018 00:39:50
Could agree more Beast. The more I see on Rashford the more I wonder if he can be top top class. He has a lot of pace which is great, but his decision making, finishing and composure worry me, even at his young age. Martial on the other hand I feel can be as good as anyone. But as you say, if he actually gets there is still up in the air. Sanchez is one of the top 2 or 3 players in the league and if attainable we should do everything we can to bring him in.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 01:13:56
🤔🤔🤔

Is he world class?

Is he an upgrade on Martial? Rashford?

Great player, 'phenomenal' according to Jose.

He would be a great addition, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if we didn't him.

I think Martial is better.

Agree1 Disagree3

13 Jan 2018 02:28:49
Cheers Stand.

Patzi - I think Martial could be better than Sanchez, but he isn't better than Sanchez now, not even close for me. Sanchez turns up the majority of games, Martial doesn't turn up the majority of the games.

We need consistency from our attacking players because Jose plays so negatively, if just one of our attackers is sub-par it seriously hampers our attacking potency. Sanchez could carry a team, he is pure passion. Too many of our players tend to go missing or pass the baton onto somebody else.

If Sanchez is gettable and we decided not to do it for the sake of Rashford or Martial I would be truly amazed. Fortunately I think Jose would be just as short-term thinking as me with this one.

13 Jan 2018 03:00:11
Patzi,

Come on. is he an upgrade on Martial and Rashford? Did you just ask that.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 05:51:06
Beast, I disagree about Rashford (I know, you’re surprised) . He is not playing great right now but I think he has everything and needs a solid run. Jose was asked about him missing chances and he said he wasn’t worried as he has been phenomenal in training so let’s hope he can pick it up on the pitch. I think he has all the attributes, he needs effective guidance and coaching and let’s not forget that he really is a kid.

Hope so Ken - although I can't remember the last youngster we sent out on loan at this stage and ever returned to compete for a first team spot. It has all too often meant the end of them for Utd rather than an enhancer and a stepping stone to first team success. I personally hope TFM can buck this trend, but who knows.

anyone seen G Nev and Guillem Balague's thread on twitter this evening? go and have a look it s a great read.

In short - balague is insinuating that sanchez's choice is either Pep (city) or money (united) . Gary has said taken offence to the reference of united as 'money' considering how much city have spent in the last ten years (approx ÂŁ1.3bn) . Now my view is both teams have spent obscene amounts but what a ridiculous comment from balague. One team is built on rich history whilst the other on an arab sheikh's billions. Mind you I don't usually take much notice of what balague says as he is the biggest fraud in the business when it comes to 'insider' knowledge.

I know this should fall into the category of "its not your money" but football. bloody hell - A tabloid journo saying now Sanchez has got himself an agent who makes Raiola look like a novice . apparently asking for 10 mill to Sanchez as a signing on fee plus agents fees if he moves in January and 25 million signing fee plus agents fees if he joins anyone in Summer. who knows if its true but that's madness if it is . wish now i'd trained harder as a kid an not relied on my looks and sparkling personality.

12 Jan 2018 19:21:29
Im not so sure Stand-United. I think Man Utd have a great chance. Media are literally tying to make a meal out of it and are trying to get as many clubs linked as possible or show interest. But Utd can pay the funds easily and in my opinion his a quality player and is worth the money and wages. But for his contract you have a 60 mil plus player in Sanchez. I would love to have him at Chelsea but it ain't happening despite Sky trying desperately to get chelsea involved so they can make a show out of it.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 20:01:55
Surprised Chelsea aren't in the running Shak. 5-6 years ago chelsea would have probably pinched this deal and done anything to do it. Seems to be a change in strategy when it comes to transfers.

Still think he will end up at city unfortunately but he is a phenomenal player. Would be some statement especially overseas to other players that we are still a force. We are building something and the project to put united back to the top of the tree must be an attractive project.

Lukaku wanted Chelsea
Pogba wanted Real Madrid

Media like to spin the story. always negative to Utd.

City planned to sign him for free in the summer. Arsenal desperate for a sale now. I said I expected us to make an offer for both Sanchez and Oezil, but believed City would get Sanchez. I still believe this. Although be nice to see Sanchez as our number 7.

Ken,

I’ve never noticed them constantly passing to the oppsfion or getting knocked off the ball?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 14:10:35
Hi ed002.
Obviously there has been a lot of talk with regard to our interest in sanchez.
Also lots of talk of miki going in Tyne opposite direction. But in most reports it just says a united player going in the opposite direction.
My question is are arsenal interested in miki or is there another player in question? I know wenger was interested in smalling and Jones before so i thought that either one of those players is maybe what wenger wants as they are currently in the market for a cb.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The situation is as I explained yesterday. Nothing has changed.}

12 Jan 2018 15:14:27
I would rather smalling was included if a player is to be included. It is no secret that Wenger quite fancies mike smalling. Although Miki has been poor for us for the most part, the guy clearly has talent and with the arsenal's style of play he could really take the league buy storm. But tbh we should give whatever is needed because players like sanchez win you leagues. If he goes city they will have a frightening array of attacking talents. I am intrigued to see what is going to happen because it feels like it is possible he could join. However, i still think his heart is set on going to city.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 20:16:31
a bit worrying some journo is saying Martial is Wengers preferred choice. Hope we stick with Martial. probably more tabloid nonsense.

12 Jan 2018 10:53:53
Hi Eds sorry for dragging this up as I'm sure your probably sick to hearing his name but I would love your opinion on this. Wenger says 'we'll see" regarding Sanchez leaving in January. If he does leave there does this mean it would be more than likely it's a premier league club he'd join as he can't sign pre agreements with them. Or am I complicating things too much. Thanks as always.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Drawing conclusions from what the papers and journalists such as Di Marzio (quite reliable) are saying along with Ed2 comments yesterday it looks like United are seriously competing for the signature of Sanchez in January. Was thrilled initially but concerned about where he fits in the side (prefers to play on left) and his attitude along with his age as well, it may not be as an attractive move as it first appeared}

12 Jan 2018 13:17:50
Ed004 genuine world class player. something I believe we lack. He will fit for sure.

A couple of years out of him if signed. Big shift if it does happen.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed004's Note - But at what detriment to Martial and Rashford? Also united dressing room seems to be a good place to be right now. Don't want anything/anyone disrupting that. However signing Sanchez and potentially Ozil in the summer is surely an upgrade on Miki and Ibra}

12 Jan 2018 13:46:43
Ed004 I totally agree. At first I was delighted but I don't want another left Winger pushing Martial down the pecking order. If he joins I think he'll have to change position.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - He could easily be being signed to play behind Lukaku however I would then worry about where Pogba plays because I think Pogba is better as part of a midfield 3 and not sure how we play that with Sanchez and Martial/Rashford in side}

12 Jan 2018 13:51:56
Sanchez left Barcelona because he couldn't be the protagonist within the team. Great player but needs more than that to fit into the Barcelona style (Danny Alves March 2016). why would he consider a move to Man City whereby he more than likely won't be the main protagonist again?
Could it be that he genuinely is interested in joining united? Great signing if he comes. Good energy, skill, hard worker and a bad loser. everything you want in a player!

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jan 2018 14:20:45
Is it a case of he plays on the left (and occasionally central) because Sanchez wants to or because Wenger needs him to?

I think he'd fit in perfectly on the right hand side should he arrive, and we would then look very balanced going forward with one of Martial/ Rashford on the left and Lukaku through the centre.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jan 2018 16:34:20
Agree wazza he spent a lot of time on the right at barcelona.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jan 2018 16:39:09
Why are people worried about having options? City have Stirling, sane, Aguero, Jesus, silva, silva, de Bruyne etc and still want him. Rotation is key over a long season. We need more players. Sanchez is genuinely world class and when a proven player in our league like him is available we should do everything we can to make it happen. I’d rather Sanchez, Pogba and Mata/ Rashford with martial up top.

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Jan 2018 16:46:54
I'm not worried about having options. I'm worried about keeping the younger players happy. Rashford and Martial are young and sitting on the bench won't help their careers. Martial in particular I think would be unhappy with this and if this meant there was any chance of him wanting to leave then I'd say No to Sanchez. However he as played on the right before and it he's happy to do that then great as we're lacking there.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 17:02:01
Just don't see the debate. Genuine world class right now. Will be a game changer.

12 Jan 2018 19:33:03
Agree angel agree stand. Jose has put it out there so he must feel we are in with a chance . I was not optimistic when I first heard the rumour but i now think its a possibility but not yet a probability. A very consistent top class performer. If we get him in it would be a great signing.
He would be available in all comps and will provide much needed experience know bow and magic to our attack.
No world cup means he is fresh for pre season too.

If you were arsene wenger, and your nemesis through the years now wanted one of your best players, would you take his 25 million, or sell him to his nemesis instead and sit back to watch, childish maybe, satisfying for wenger defo, and i wouldn't be surprised if wenger tried to include at least 1 young, fringe city player coming the other way, alternatively, is jose playing a corker and letting the press believe its sanchez he wants, but in reality ozil is his true target, again wenger probably won't want to do business, but throwing in Mhiki could be the sweetner to clinch it, personally, if he was available, i'd try to nab ramsey., but bob hope there i think!

This one is for the EDs mostly-

I remember reading an input from one of the Eds regarding how a bid or a transfer is made. Basis that, if United have actually bid for Sanchez, would that mean that they were given a thumbs up from the player or his agent? I understand this is all speculative but anything to cheer us up would be good. Thanks!

Liverpool and City play eachother this weekend, judging by the last match until Liverpool got reduced to ten men they were one of the few teams who have really caused City a few problems this season.

With that in mind baring a silly slip up by City against one of the EPL's lesser lights it is Liverpool who potentially have the best chance of making sure City don't have a unbeaten season.

With that in mind what would be the best result in that match according to my fellow United supporters?

Would you be happier with a City win or a win for Liverpool?

This seems a heart Vs head battle for me. Lol.

As much as it pains me, I want a Liverpool win. I agree they unfortunately seem the most likely to beat City at the moment with Salah and Mane on form but I also see them dropping silly points throughout the season so for me it would be good if they can put a spanner in City's season.

With city away and clear at the top our focus should be on ensuring we finish in the top 4. To that end I want teams like Liverpool Chelsea and spurs to be dropping points. I don't want city to go unbeaten but I certainly don't want their run to be ended by Liverpool. Would be happy with a draw but through gritted teeth i would prefer a city win to a Liverpool one.
Never forget that our result against stoke is ultimately more important than what goes on at anfield.

Agreed - Can they keep everyone happy? Pep is already struggling with Aguero/ Jesus imo. Sane looks a bit of a moody type, then you have Bernardo Silva barely getting a kick.

I think Aguero may be off in the Summer, but it's already proving tricky to manage them. Maybe I'm clutching at straws, but something like this could derail them if not managed properly.

Rashford, Martial, Sanchez all very similar players to how they play.
I don't want Sanchez to play as a second forward as Lingard has been sensational these 2 months.

Agree3 Disagree4

12 Jan 2018 08:05:44
I would love that to be the case Beast. However, players only tend to get like that when the team isn't winning. The whole time the team is playing well and winning that buzz spreads throughout the team making it hard for an individual to be the one to kill the buzz.

Only when the team isn't doing well and there is a negative feel around the place will those players feel comfortable enough to speak out.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Jan 2018 10:04:17
Good post beast. I agree I think Sanchez will end up at city but we have been very quiet about the whole situation and not denied the reports which makes me think we are making efforts to sign him. I’m footballing terms you would have to say city with be the better option as it stands because they will most likely win the league. But perhaps the lure of the no 7 shirt and all its history had turned sanchez’s Head. I’m probably clutching at straws here.

I think he is City bound even to the point I think he will sit at Arsenal for the rest of season and go there in the summer if City don't want to get into a bidding war. I hope I am wrong but just feel his heart is on a Pep reunion.
That said if we were ever to get him a high offer on price and wages now would be the time.
I too would look to get Ozil in as with them 2 and Pogba we would have a team to build around for next season with us focusing on full backs and maybe another striker in the summer.
