I know that with fergie and phelan watching kagawa in the cup final might increase our chances of signing him, but I just can't help but feel that they should be with the team, as a team for the title deciding game/s tomorrow.

Like I said fergie at the German Cup Final watching Kagawa and possibly hummels.

Having said that he has to be impressed by Robert Lewandowski, Quick Strong and an eye for a goal. This guy is something we are missing

Kagawa's brilliant showing aside, I cannot help but admire the work that has been done by the dortmund coach over the past few seasons. They really play beautifully. He has owned bayern head to head, made some brilliant signings, and brought young players through the ranks - a bit like United will have to operate it order to withstand City's billions. Maybe we should be running the rule over Klopp as well.

Windy City Red {Ed004's Note - I was thinking that myself earlier on today. He has done a wonderful job at Dortmund and they play lovely football. If they someone managed to persuade Kagawa to stay they will have a front 4 of Kagawa, Reus, Gotze and Lewandowski... Now that is some attack...}

Alex Ferguson at the Liga Pokal final... Must be impressed by Kagawa 1 goal and an assist...

Like the look of hummels as well at the back... sold defencively and confident enough to take a penalty (got a bit lucky with it)

Well Kagawa scoring in the final with SAF and Phelan watching on just makes his arrival even more likely! It would not surprise me if they go and see him after the match and possibly have some contact with Dortmund officials. Meeting Kagawa in person could swing the balance. There is obviously strong interest there as he is in Germany before a massive match.

I think we will know in the next couple of weeks whether Kagawa will be our first summer signing. I think he will be, Clyne will follow. I'm looking forward to seeing both of them in a United shirt. Both would be great. The next decision to make from SAF would be whether to sign Hazard or a top class forward like van Persie. We couldn't have both. If we do sign Kagawa then it will be a strong midfielder that comes in, like Martinez/Fellaini/Witsel as getting in someone like Modric would not be a good balance as we'd have a very light weight squad.

the ed`s are fair in all matters but i think your right with regards to who knows whats going on, utd will be playing there cards very close to their chests this transfer window, might even be a few surprises as well, utd will let leak what they want other to know with the hope it will keep prices down on the rea ltargets.
if utd get it wrong this season then fergie should give up and move on, its blatantly obvious were we need new blood, it should have come in last season but the old timers decided they could match the young ones, that idea failed miserably!
it will be intersting to see how much the glaziers release for team building tho, 3 players would be the minimum, 4 class players would help us compete with city and im guessing chelsea next season, if they get a new manager, just watch the money that will be thrown at clubs.
so less than 100 million and i would say hands are being tied behind backs, two midfielders, a forward and a defender, possibly 2.

Who would you rather have, Sanchez or Hazard?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

12 May 2012 15:07:04
How ironic would it be if we signed our top two targets from last year this year? Its more possible than you may think, Sneijder wants out of Inter and he has said he'd like to come. And Sanchez amongst others might be out of Barcelona. Those two would be the best additions i think that we could hope for by bringing instant class to the first team squad.

Before people say Sanchez will stay, here's why i think he will leave. Barcelona are going all out for Bale, fact. This means that they need to raise money for the signing. Some say that Bale will play left back, but i think he is more likely to play LW with Jordi Alba or Adriano playing at left back. That seems to make more sense. Barca have a very small squad, and they will keep it that way for sure. That means that one of Pedro or Sanchez are likely to have their Barca careers cut short. Even when Barca want to rotate they will use their youngsters like Cuenca. Pedro will probably be allowed to stay over Sanchez as he has been their longer and is a product of their youth academy like Xavi and Iniesta.

As for Sneijder, well as Sheringham said SAF is stubborn and will go all out to get his man once he has identified him. And i still think Sneijder is the one he wants, thats why we didn't go all out for Nasri etc. Sneijder isn't enjoying play for Inter, thats for sure and if he wants the move as he says he does he will budge on his wage demands. Furthermore he has had a rubbish year by his standards so his price will be way lower than last year.

These could be our two main signings with youngsters like Clyne, Henriquez etc, we also might get an agreement with Barkley.

These two would signify a formation change i feel:

____________DDG
Rafael__Smalling__Vidic__Evra
_Cleverly___Carrick___Sneijder
_Nani______Rooney__Sanchez

For me that is a great team, and could also work well with Kagawa and Hazard instead of Sneijder and Sanchez. But they might be the two that are preffered. Lets see, but that looks exciting.

A good story in the paper today that made me chuckle, Skrtel wanting out of Liverpool as he is fed up of no Champions League football. I thought you guys were a team on the up? It sounds to me as though one of your best players wants to leave, you might even luis Suarez to PSG, then you really are in trouble. Don't worry though, King Kenny will bring in Danny Graham to replace him.

It seems Leicester & Middlesborough are interested in loaning Cole, James?, Fryers? And W.Keane.
I've heard Crystal Palace have asked for M.Keane as part of the Clyne deal on the grapevine. This is great news as it makes watching the Championship more interesting.

Fergie has mentioned Petrucci leaving on loan. Do you think Premiership Clubs would give him a try?

Also what will happen to DeLaet, Brown, Wootton, Brady, Norwood, King, Macheda all sent on loan last season. Will they go on loan again? Sold? Or be back up squad players?

With Pogba leaving to Juve, i would really like us to step up for Nick Powell (Crewe) 18 years old and got prolific goal scoring record (15 this season, CM).

Also with Alan Pardew saying he could loose some of his stard this sumer, just wondering if we should move for Yohan Cabaye for that CM/CDM role think he would fit there well.

INS:
Powell - CM (Replace Pogba)
Cabaye - CM/CDM (Replace Scholes)
Kagawa - CAM (Give Rooney support)
Gaitan or Hazard - WING/AM (not botherd both would fit well)
Izagurre - LB (Maybe)

OUTS:
Scholes (Retire AGAIN!)
Berbatov
Pogba
Fabio (loan)
Nani (Think we should swap, Too ball greedy)
De leat
Fryers (loan
Will Keane (loan)
Pettruci (loan)
Cole (loan)
Micheal Kean (loan)

End of season reflections

Bought poorly last summers at least we did in the positions required.

Poor in all Cups - particularly the Champions League where we were made to look ordinary by average team. Bilbao also taught us a footballing lesson and they are not the best within their own country.

Didn't use the January window to strengthen in key places - Vidic and Fletcher positions. (The Vidic loss proved to be catastrophic )

Not enough goal threat - can't understand why we didnt use Berbatov and Hernandez more, particularly when the goal difference was so wide. Sorry but for all Danny Welbecks effort he will never be a prolific goalscorer

Departure of better quality younger players, though appreciate the circumstances behind at least one of these

Strange team decisions - particularly at the latter, important end of the season.

It has been a really strange season. The Premier league has been crap and United, Chelsea and Arsenal are certainly not the threats that they once were and have all been in some decline for the last few year. To finish where we are will be a pleasant surprise.

Sorry but City should have won this by a mile and perhaps would have done but for Toure swanning off to the African nations and Kompany's suspension. I really think that without either of these , they are a far less potent force. Anywas enough of them.

The future for us : Firstly and perhaps most importantly we need to stabilise and clarify the financial position. We are the Worlds biggest club and to have to play second fiddle to our neighbours is really galling. How we address it I don't know but it is clear that since the Glazers arrival the quality of the squad has over the years reduced quite significantly and we are now having to rely on ageing players, whereas in the past Fergie has relied heavily and successfully on Youth.

Money is the cancer within football. The events at Rangers should be a wake up call for us all and am sure there are other clubs in an equally perilous position. The City situation is the exception but there again over the years we have seen similar regimes at Chelsea and Blackburn and United have fought back to overcome these as we will do again .

My main concern is with Fergie ( sorry ) The legend is now over 70 and there has to come a time when he moves on - when this will be ?? Football evolves and in the past he has changed his number 2's with regularity - Kidd, McClaren, Queiroz, Walter Smith and to me he should now have somebody alongside him, who is preparing the Club for the next phase of our future and that person should be the one who is charged with bringing new players in. Why let Fergie spend 100 million if he leaves in 2 years, only for a new manager to come in and dispose of those ? To have him still managing the club when he is 75 is a worrying thought, more so if he is working within the same financial parameters as he is at present.

Sorry, but it needs freshening up. Both the management and coaching styles appear dated as does the squad. I read the posts on here with interest and agree with the thought that we could see up to another 10 players leave the squad this year - Berbatov, Owen, Kuscsak, Pogba, Anderson, Scholes with Lindegaard and Fryers both rumoured not to be happy. It creates a big hole in the squad and one that needs to be plugged with some young quality players, ideally ones who are not just coming to Old Trafford just for the money !!.

As I said, football evolves and we are, I feel on the verge of some significant changes. The Fergie situation and the success of the Floatation within a Far Eastern stock exchange will be key and thus determine whether we are able to stand toe to toe with City during the coming years.

Life is and always will be red.

Happy summer to you all

It seems a lot of us fans would be happy with a cheapish full back, a left footed winger and another cheapish striker for back up.
Along as we spend the majority of our summer booty on a central midfield player. DM, box2box, AM it doesn't matter along as he's world class and not some 2nd rate has been no one wants.

Well it looks like the cheap full back is on his way in Clyne. Tosic the left footed winger that wasn't given a chance is looking good now. Even Mama Diouf is scoring lots of goals in Germany and he could of also played Left Wing for us on the odd occasion.

Well he's the downer, let's look forward to some more signings that make you check google just to see where he is from and who he is.

I think the homeless World Cup is being played at the moment and I'm wondering if our chief scout is there to pick up any bargains for 7.4m.

SAF is definately a world class manager, and we trust him but lets for now call a spade a spade ,He is the one who cost us the title if we dont win it on Sunday...by not signing in summer when he was supposed to sign and questionable team selection, thats why he is trying to unsettle a already firm team against QPR becoz he knoes it,and thats why he is giving excuses such as my team is ok and so they wont be any major signings but ofcoz we will bring in 1,2,3 or more players....,He is just afraid or proud to say that my team needs overhaul and that i made a few mistakes which i would love to correct them...

Was reading an article at which compare teams of BVB and Bayern of 2008 and now.

Both teams have excelled like anything and without spending a lot. This is a prime example strong teams are built and not bought.

Mario Gomez, Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels, Shinji Kagawa, Toni Kroos, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben are few of the names and don think any of them costed a bomb but are now sought by many and command a hefty price tag.

Victor J. {Ed002's Note - Robben was hardly cheap.}

so i heard from a few everton fans that moyes has been hinting in interviews that they may have to let baines and/or fellaini go to raise money for new signings.
everyone seems to want baines from everton but personally i would much prefer fellaini. he's got presence, can tackle, goes forward well AND can play a decent pass. i think he would be perfect along side someone more attacking. alright he's not world class yet, but he could be if he came to united.
anyone know if we are in for fellaini or have looked at him at all ? i would like to think we had at least thought about him

I expect City to win the title tomorrow. They know what they have to do yet in my opinion too much focus has been put on the city game, we have a difficult game that will take some winning before we worry about city. All week SAF has gone on about QPR so Sunderland are being no doubt motivated by the assumption we are going to win.

Whilst all the teams know what they have to do, timing of goals could add a little extra pressure. Whoever scores first can increase pressure on others, news filtering through of an early united goal could add nerves to the city crowd and in the same way an early stoke goal may relax QPR slightly. If city went 2 nil up quickly how will we react. What will be will be

Still I expect city to win and it will hopefully prompt a more aggressive stance from us in the transfer market, certainly SAF words today sound more hopeful

Fergie has been quoted as saying that City would never recover if they didnt win the league this year - So does that mean the same for us then? Bit of a stupid way to try wind them up, think Fergie is starting to play mind games with himself in his old age. If we dont let giggs and scholes retire and replace them with 2 world class midfielders then its confirmation that United are a spent force and cant compete with top European clubs anymore.
Berbatov has been poor since day 1 and should have been sold after his first season as it was obvious he didnt fit - that was the start of it, Anderson, Park and Carrick are not world beaters so they should have been moved on and replaced when we might have got some money for them and then its onto our other strikers, I cant believe we have Michael Owen in our squad, its pointless, we should have a young and gifted striker, not some has been nag who was finished 5 years ago, Chicharito was a one season wonder and doesnt have the skill to create goals himself and his value has dropped about 10M this season aswell, so theres 8 players who should be moved on with Pogba its 9 so thats roughly 10 new players needed to challenge for honours, if we dont sign at least 6 then forget about it, I would urge my fellow fans to boycott the exorbitant ticket prices to see our beloved club as its not about us anymore, its an jewish/american money making machine designed only to serve its gluttonous owners appetite for money.
