Now carrick has apparently picked up a groin injury on international duty. Unbelievable.

I don't even know why we're playing surprised anymore mate.

Whats happened to di maria .He was a beast in the First few games but since then its all been downhill. I honestly think lvg should drop rvp and allow adm to Play in the hole with falcao up top against arsenal.

He's a human being, in a new country, where he doesn't speak the language. Ofc he's going to have some downhill moments at first.

Agree1 Disagree0

We have experimented with everything else so why not.

He is being played out wide where the service is shocking and slow he also has no movement around him. He needs to be driving from the middle of the park, but because Rooney will always play, Fellaini is in form and Blind/Carrick need to protect our back 4 he is being sacrificed to the teams detriment.

I don't like this at all but LVG has backed himself into another corner saying certain players will always play or need to play. ADM is wasted at the minute.

He was looking good a bit further inside but has been pushed out to the wing in the formation we are now playing which I feel doesn't suit him as much. Like nox said, he's a human being settling in, the fact he was so good at first shocked me a little and it shows how good he really can be once he's settled.

Agree2 Disagree2

Since we stopped playing the diamond, it has affected not just di maria but all our attacking play. Were looking slow, dull with not knowing what to do. Fellaini looks undroppable to lvg now but tbh i really hope we bribg herrera back in for him and play the diamond.herrera kept the game fast paced which helped di maria pick up space. Fellaini is a good use for hard physical games but especially for arsenal, we need quick play and creativity which herrera provides

Beast I doubt we will see free flowing football until the defence is sorted out. LVG has shown he can do that (at the WC), we have to have faith he can do it at United provided injuries don't keep hampering our progress. Win at Arsenal and we could be back in the top 4, we have to accentuate the positives, can you imagine where we would be if the players had your attitude?

Covey - You must have watched a different Dutch to me at the World Cup.

To be fair beast they didn't concede much. Not the greatest going forwards but defensively they looked sound.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with that MrE - but the point is it wasn't attacking football, it was negative cagey football relying on one man to break down the opposition, Robben. Our ADM, what we are seeing at Utd is Holland at the World Cup.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Nov 2014 18:18:30
I agree to a point, but at the world cup its a 4 week knock out contest there's only so much you can do in that amount of time.

I also thought they looked good in some of the other games. Costa Rica for example they could have won by 4. The keeper played a blinder that night and they were content to play for pens. They also played pretty well against brazil although after the battering they took in the last game that doesn't count for much.

Hopefully the injuries at the back clear up and we can bring in s stop gap or better in January and let's see how we go.

Agree0 Disagree0

LvG made what he could of a poor Holland team and finished third, a quite incredible feat. Take a look at what is happening now to Holland under a very good but lesser coach than LvG.
The point being he makes the best of what he has.

Agree3 Disagree5

Red man - that isn't the point the OP made, he said LVG has proven he can play attacking free flowing football like the World Cup. It was the opposite of that.

Nobody is disputing he did well with a poor-ish crop, same as nobody would dispute Moyes did well at Everton! Can they make the step-up to Man Utd playing attacking football, Moyes couldn't and so far it doesn't look like LVG can.

Agree3 Disagree3

Beast
Old ground but LvG has had teams winning and playing good football at the highest level for many years , Moyes had not when he came and is why LvG gets more time. Holland played some good football in the world cup but more interesting is that the winning yet rubbish football SAF served up is not berated and at the same time LvG is expected to put years of it right in 11 games.
I hate to think what social media like this would have been like in the 70's and 80' when regular winning was the domain of the Scousers and we sang about winning nothing again as early as February.

Agree1 Disagree1

I think a lot of people have noted that united never played that attractive football during fergys final years.
Imo he was hampered by the glazers not investing in the squad but he continued winning . I still think winning the title in his final year was one of his best as i don't think it was that good a team .
We have added nearly 300mil of talent in the 18 month since we lifted the cup .

Agree1 Disagree0

We have been playing a bad brand of football for 3 or 4 years now. As you say Red Man, there is no point going over old ground as we have done it to death in recent weeks.

The fact remains the performances are not what we would expect from Man Utd, there are many reasons for this, some legitimate some fantasy dependent on personal views. I just hope that we start to play as a unit and attack teams again, not play the boring brand of football we have been witnessing for far too long, especially when you consider the talent we have in our team and culture of what Man Utd is all about.

Roll on the Arsenal game, I know the England one will represent the type of thing I am fed up of dedicating my time to watching unfortunately.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redman

LVG by any measure has had a worse tenure so far compared to Moyes. He is lucky the rest are having their own issues and people made fun of Moyes for buying Fellaini, who looks like our best midfielder suddenly when healthy but no one is talking about why LVG starts RVP every game.

I would rather see rooney up top and mata in the hole if Falcao is not available and have herrera, fellaini, Di Maria and blind on the pitch but his insistence on selecting RVP is what is screwing up our entire set up.

People need to stop making excuses for him he gets paid a lot of money and was given a war chest to spend and needs to earn his pay.

I will argue his insistence to play 3 at the back early season gifted points away and that is him being naive, stubborn and arrogant.

GCU

We all know the difference betwen what the two inherited. Then before using the amount spent comment, new players need time to bed in, last season Fellaini didn't even have to move house.

I guess you haven't read my posts asking why LvG is playing RVP? Then, if Fellaini really is our best midfielder that likely explains one reason why we are not doing as well as we might be. He lacks pace and whilst we are using his attributes better he is not the long term answer if we have aspirations for the top. Lastly why has Fellaini done better? Perhaps because LvG is not afraid to play him nearer to his strengths rather than last year when it would have meant criticism.

hi eds just wondering what are the chances that we could bid for berahino? good young player with plenty of pace and seems to know where the net is

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Flash in the pan for me, rather focus on Wilson.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Nov 2014 10:53:20
Sounds exactly the same as James Wilson to me. I would imagine he would cost an arm and a leg for a young lad with potential and we have other areas of the team that need improving.

Agree1 Disagree3

If so, I would have preferred Welbeck to stay.

Agree1 Disagree0

mbd

The fact we have wilson is a valid point but i like berahino reminds me of ian wright .
He has been improving for 18 months has pace can finish and i think has a touch of class about him.
I think he will be a good player

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Nov 2014 12:46:37
yeah I agree about wilson but if we were to get rid of rvp, hernandez and decided not to sign falcao permanently then that would leave us short up top. I don't think he's a flash in the pan player and he could be a star for the next 8-10 years.and I personally think he is a much better finisher than welbeck already.

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny - if the scenario you describe happens, wouldn't you prefer a World Class striker coming in rather than relying on two prospects?

Berahino has looked good in some games, but he has been AWOL in more. He has scored a few penalties as well amongst that tally. I wouldn't gamble on him for what he would cost, no way.

12 Nov 2014 13:31:10
danny,

It is impossible at the moment to suggest if he is a flash in the pan, because 10 games ago would you have suggested him as a signing? I would imagine not.

He is clearly a good player, but would we want him up front for us if we are challenging for the league or even champions league in a few years time, I am not sure.
