Well done England, you have overcome a very tricky test tonight, good see a massive score line! That San Marino team put up a good fight and we were lucky to break down their experienced defense.
My MOTM has got to be Joe Hart, great player tonight and kept a clean sheet.

Thank you JakeW. It was everything that has been wrong with United recently too much tipy tapy passing across the pitch and no direct running at the opposition. I AM KLOOT

I know i will probably get some flack for this post but Jake San Marino is probably the easiest international out there and don't get the tricky part at all.
Watched Germany and my god do they have an outstanding team and thrashed the irish in Dublin which is not an easy place to go to.
World cup will come down to Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain and maybe Columbia as the dark horse. The rest of the teams will just make up the numbers.
England has no chance as this is typical british press to overhype an average team with average youngsters. Wait till they have a bad result and the same press will rip the players and the manager.
Shahram {Ed004's Note - I think Belgium are a team to look out for. They have impressed me lately.}
Agree1

Ed004 would you say they are on par with the elite teams or a dark horse as I missed their game. I watched england live and could only record 2 other games and picked Germany and Wales.
Their result was very impressive as I can't remember the last time anyone beat the serbs 3-0 at home.
Shahram. {Ed004's Notes - I didn't get to see them play Serbia was watching two other games but the players they have and some of their other performances have made me think they are a team too look out for}

I know but quite poor in terms of supplying a good ball from his side. Huge difference between the quality of his play and Baines. Baines is a very good left back and quality when he goes forward. No wonder SAF is very keen on him. Shahram

Agreed he is over rated but I suppose it's all down to individual preferences.
I would love a CM three of Fletch Cabaye and Vidal but there will be others that think different players are either better or are more likely or they just prefer them.
Overall my opinion on Eriksen is that he is a good - top player but not fully in the top class bracket.

have a read of this..
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3402872/Jack-Wilsheres-OK-but-Christian-Eriksens-better.html
i think he would be a great player for us and could develope into a world class player but with all players having potential to be world class and then actually becoming world class is what sets them apart at the end of the day.. for there will be hundreds of potential world class players out there right now, but only a handful will actually become world class

Milan were never bankrupt or in financial difficulties. Berlusconi the owner however was and the story i got told was that he was trying to raise funds for political reasons.
Zlatan and Silva were the most sellable players so they went. Zlatan is over rated anyway.

12 Oct 2012 10:28:55
come summer 2013,i believe we need to release certain players in that summer and keep other experienced players like Nemanja Vidic but let Evra,Ferdinand,Scholes,Giggs and Carrick go.In addition to these guys we should also clear the underperforming players and deadwood such as Macheda,Nani,Javier Hernandez and Anderson
AND THEN,
go for european talent such as Hummels,Strootman,Eriksen,Isco,Lewandowski, and also promoting juniors too like Petrucci,Turncliff,Lingard,Wooton,
Believable3
Unbelievable9
We cant go replacing 5 or 6 players every summer, we're supposed to be coming to the end of our transition not doing a whole new one. I would keep Vidic for a couple years too but would also keep Hernandez and Carrick as squad players, perhaps even Scholes for 1 last year
I'd be happy to see the back of Giggs, Nani and Anderson from the squad personally. To be replaced by a left sided player and a CM
Gav
Agree1
Disagree4
I would keep Carrick and Ferdinand and let the rest go. I think they can still play as squad players and given the number of games we play, we need some experience players that can take the load off the starting 11 and case of injuries. Hummels and Goetze, Rodriguez, Contrao(pardon the spelling) would be an ideal window. Let's hope.
I don't get to see the reserves and don't know if the bunch you have mentioned are good enough to get into the first team. Wooton I do not rate and believe he is too slow and not good enough.
Shahram
Agree0

We don't need a leftback, lets just develop the ones we have.
I'd only sign a centreback if both Rio and Vidic go.
And Gotze & Rodtiguez is just greedy.

So only 9 outgoing players... i can't see that a problem to replace.
Red Joe
Agree0

No name, We don't need a left back??
I hope you don't believe Buttner is the solution. He is average. Our midfield is average and so old,assuming cleverly is a starter, we don't have much after that.
Need two major signings for midfield and Nani needs to be replaced as he is useless in my opinion.
One good game at Newcastle does not make a season and the underlying issues are still there. Compare our midfield to Chelsea, Barca, City, Arsenal, Real, Dortmund, Bayern, Juve, PSG, Athletico, even porto and a few other clubs come out ahead and then tell me we don't need to buy.

Ok, so the Glazers are ****s, we all know this, but in a way we can be happy that they are our owners, they treat United as a business and in every business you try to make money, and the main way of doing that for the Glazers is by winning trophies, meaning that we have to be up there year in year out competing with the best. I know you all hate them, but whilst they're still our owners I am happy that SAF will have funds, maybe not as much as we'd all like, but sufficient funds to keep us competing.

I'm sorry Jake F but the Glazers are killing the club. I can see what you are trying to say but the Glazers are taking money out of our club and not investing much back in, surely if they wanted us to be the best they would have given enough funds to get a new midfielder when Scholes retired.

your pro Glazer claptrap is so f**king infuriating, you can't even see the damage they're causing our great club. They're running us into the ground and all the so called fans that think they're good for the club or don't care as long as the success continues, well OPEN YOUR EYES!

Hello All,
I have a few questions that I could never get an adequate answer to.
A) Why, when the club was being sold bit by bit in the early nineties didn't a consortium like the Red Knights buy the club at that stage? It is obvious that they would need some collateral, but the Glazers have proved that the club can pay to 'buy' itself, which seems incredible.
B) Also, how great an impact had SAF's spat with MaManus & Co affect the club, Would they have sold to the money-hungry leeches if there was no animosity between the two parties. I know money is the bottom line between McManus/Magnier & the club, but I firmly believe they would have given the club a lot more if there had been no argument. SAF really was stubborn over that racehorse.
C) Is there any chance of a United fan/Consortium taking over the club with a view to return it eventually to fan-ownership. The only way I can see this happening is for a total boycott of all attendance/merchandise until the Glazers agree to sell at a reasonable price - however I can never see this happening.
I think the best scenario if for the Glazers to pay off all the debt, sell us on the open market for £1B, let the new owners pay off all the debt for the following 15/20 years, so in 2040 we might, just might own our own club. It's a depressing scenario really!!
J Bones. {Ed002's Note - (1) There were no "consortiums" there to buy the club. (2) It would have been sold regardless. (3) It will not be owned by the fans. When the club is sold it will almost certainly be via a floatation. This has been dealt with at length.}
Agree1
Disagree1
Why do we seem to go after the top figures, whenever we see problems. I hate the glazers as much as the next person, however everybody just vents their anger at the person on top at that moment.
If United don't win on the pitch, many fans come on questioning Ferguson, the legend and born winner, rather than questioning certain players, who give lack luster performance. Internationally recognised players such as nani, welbeck and so on. The Glazers show no commitment or investment of their money into Manchester United, however you have to question the person who allowed them to buy the club.
Honestly guys if you where given the chance to buy, one of the top ten leading brands in the World, which United is, would you turn it down. That maybe a difficult question as we are fans and don't want to see the club struggle, but if you where impartial businessman, would you really turn that opportunity down, regardless of what money you had to borrow or who you hurt on the way.
They are in charge what ever we do they will not sell, unless they have sucked as much profit out of the club as they can! Lets get behind the players on the pitch and enjoy the years we have left with fergy.

Thanks for the replies Ed002. Perhaps some of you others would do well to try and think WHO we might end up with as owners IF you got your wish and Glazer's left. If you think things would get better you may be mistaken I'm afraid. If things were to get worse (i.e. less funding etc) then would you cry for the Glazer's back? Haha a mad thought I know - but football has changed so much during our 20 yrs of dominance it is now a major business sector....so those who want fans to be in control or people who only have what's best for United at heart, you may be shocked when the Glazer's do finally sell up
Gav {Ed002's Note - It is a very valid point. Sale by floatation would result in institutional ownership.}
Agree0
Disagree0
A few on here conveniently seem to forget that we have had £130m (net) to spend since the summer of 2010. There has been plenty of cash to buy a midfielder or Scholes replacement, it's down to the manager as to why one hasn't been signed as yet.
Ed002, I think there is a chance the Glazers will always have a part of this club even if they end up being a silent partner (investor), but I think they enjoy having this club as theirs. can I ask how much percentage-wise they could sell and still be in charge of the club? 51%? Thanks.
Sydney! {Ed002's Note - If 51% were sold then the other shareholders could collectively veto anything they wish to do. There would also be significant complexities over dividends. I think it an unlikely scenario.}

Not a fan of the Glazers but when it was a PLC dividends were paid to shareholders. It's just more money is now being paid and just to 1 family. It's not right but it ain't gonna change.
AJH {Ed002's Note - They are the shareholders - if they take dividends it is exactly the same situation as before.}

Ed002, thanks for the replies. If (when) the club is eventually floated, whats to stop a group like the Red Knights buying up shares with the aim of eventually owning the club, which is what the Glazers did.
Also, my point about the McManus/Magnier situation was that they could have sold it to someone other than the Glazers, thereby making it very hard for the Glazers to gain full control.
Either way, as you said all this has been discussed at length.
I will make the point though that ownership of the club was available to anyone. The Glazers saw the opportunity to own a highly profitable business and took it. They are certainly entitled to dividends as you pointed out, and are under no obligation to give a c**p about anything to do with the club. They only want it to be successful to increase their profitability.
J Bones. {Ed002's Note - If the Red Knights could get the funding they would like everyone else be able to apply for shares. Also keep in mind that the value of the club has grown very significantly under the Glazers.}

Has anybody been to this new "fan park" that Chevrolet have set up in one of the car parks? I went to the Tottenham game which was supposed to be the first time the fan park was being done but I didn't see it.
