I'm sorry eds but I tried to reply in the thread and it said internal error, for that reason i'm postings seperately.

In response to the Pogba questions and responses earlier:

May I ask why a move to Chelsea or Man Utd is slim? Is it finacial reasons or does the player not want the move or.

Thanks in advance

Hmmmm. Was kinda hoping for some input ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The player will have better options - the chance of a move to Chelsea is slim, and to be fair, even slimmer to Manchester United.}

13 Apr 2015 20:49:52
Just think of the footballing
talent wanting to join us if
as it looks like we make the
top four . Cavani. Pogba. Koke
. Hummels. and the dutch Fellaini
MR BAS DOST. oh yeah i think so

It's all well and good beating City but our defending for the 2 goals we conceded was terrible. Let's be honest, Liverpool, Spurs,and City all played terribly and the results flattered us. If any of them had turned up the results would have been very different. Apparently we will be challenging for the League next year after these results. reality check people, Blind is too slow, Valencia is a terrible full back, Rooney was anonymous, De Gea looks shaky, Mata is too slow, Fellaini is a lump, Van Gaal is an alien (had you going for a while there didn't I)? 😬

A very enjoyable day all round and I haven't seen celebrations like that around the ground for a long time even against the Scousers who I believe we like even less than City, the joy of scoring against City was a release of all the frustration. Previously we expected to win but yesterday we suddenly realised we can win, even in adversity.
All at sea for ten minutes stunned by their goal we looked nervous and uncertain. However the fight that has been there for a while came through and didn't we enjoy it. I felt Fellaini was poor until he scored then he got heavily involved, using his chest control and building a platform to attack. Toure didn't look like he fancied the challenge and that became Fellaini's best game. Most seem focussed on Fellaini, but the pivot was the Mata, Carrick and particularly Herrera axis joined by Fellaini and added to by the rejuvenated Young. We played in packs, controlled midfield and ran City ragged. Six more cup finals and I am sure the boss will keep their focus, we are not there yet.

Apparently United are now favourites to sign Ings and we have "held talks".

Ed any truth?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - That would be tapping up.}

13 Apr 2015 18:14:20
Ed but aren't you allowed to speak to the players in the last 6 months of their contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not if you are in the same league. It would be tapping up and illegal.}

13 Apr 2015 19:15:15
The story is, apparently United officials and Burnley officials have held talks over compensation.

How true it is I don't know.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Perfectly viable.}

13 Apr 2015 21:04:10
Out of curiosity batman, how does this compensation work now? I thought it went to a panel of sorts and they decided the fee? Or is that only if a package can't be agreed on?

Or am I as usual totally off :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Typically clubs will look to agree a price to avoid the need for arbitration. There are fixed rates that vary depending on both national association and division but these are guidance and there are on-going issues with various aspects of the rules still, particularly over player valuations and any loans that have been made. Going to arbitration doesn't help anyone and if dealing outside of Europe any issues fall in tot the hands of their Dispute Resolution Chamber.

Often the package will include a sell on fee or some form of added bonus.}

Already been used further down the page for Fellani unless there's two Yaya Toures

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 18:23:41
There are two Yaya Toure's, one was one of the best EPL players in recent years, the other didn't get any birthday cake and has been stropping ever since.

Ed you have said previously about us having an intrest, have we started to move on this in an attempt to sign the player as reported today?

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - sorry.}

13 Apr 2015 18:08:51
Sorry should clearly take more time with my posting intrest in ings that's meant to be!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2015 07:38:01
Titch, I think we will sign Ings, the time has gone when a club needs four top draw strikers as most only play with one up top now. I'd expect Ings or another early 20's striker to be signed this season as I think RVP and Falcao will leave this summer.

I guess most will depend on other players that are attainable for us in the summer.

13 Apr 2015 16:03:36
Hi guys, just wanted to say how happy I am that things seem to be turning around for us. I am back to enjoying games again. Haven't been able to post much as been moving about and didn't have internet, but I think I should keep quiet for a while, especially whilst the going is great!

Big thumbs up to Fellaini, Mata, Young & Blind - all four have been exceptional and I had either written them off or just thought they were poor buys.

Also have to say that LVG seems to have turned the corner and much credit for the past month, I am growing in confidence.

Looking forward to a proper title challenge next season, just wish we started playing like this a month earlier, we could have been winning the league as Chelsea don't have the minerals for a fight.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 17:02:25
Fellaini's contribution to the first and second goals was obvious but he also made the 3rd possible by coming back and winning the ball immediately before it was passed forward to Rooney. We are now seeing why he is an automatic pick for a very good Belgian national team.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 16:02:40
Last season we had the awful question of "who would we rather win the title, City or Liverpool? How things can change over a season.

So now we have a slightly different question " who would you rather get 4th place, City or Liverpool?

On one hand a lack of champions league football would benefit City in the league next season, but on the other hand having no champions league football will hamper their pursuit of transfer target this summer. Some of which we might be competing for.

Wgho would you rather finish 4th?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 16:22:35
Spurs :-)

Agree5 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 16:29:43
I was going to post this the other day. I think city not getting top 4 wouldn't hinder them as much as it would liverpool in terms of buying players (city still have the money.) so I'd prefer city in 4th

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 16:45:43
I wouldn't wish anything good on Liverpool ever, unless it was to United's advantage. Maybe it's because I'm from Manchester, but for some reason I just don't hate City the way I do Liverpool.

Agree5 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 16:48:25
Got to completely agree with with ryan12! City could get players in with the promise of only 1 season without CL in the same we did this season

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 17:28:46
Ideally Liverpool to miss out, they lose Sterling, Henderson and Skrtl and are back to where they were pre-Suarez (hopefully). City will be gone in a few years anyway, lack the support, owners will get bored and FFP is a major problem. Also young English players won't trust them as they have messed so many around, so new rules on home grown will hurt.

Both don't have the paddle and the creek is coming up.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 17:30:02
Id prefer city 4th too. Liverpool as low as possible ideally!

Agree2 Disagree0

City and expect them to lock it up with a couple of games to go. I think top 4 will get sorted in the next 2 weeks maybe 3.

13 Apr 2015 19:47:37
Liverpool the further down the table the better,the team that could have won the CL only they were knocked out,back to the Europa where they belong

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 23:36:49
City 4th for sure! Hate Liverpool more than anything on this planet. City will still attract players with obscene wages which Liverpool can't do! I want them to lose their best players and sign more crap.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 16:01:46
I'm absolutely chuffed for Big Fellaini. I stuck up for him last season, because some of the abuse was ridiculous, culminating in the booing from his own fans. There were valid reasons for his so-so performances last season, but people forgot very quickly what an absolute nightmare he'd been against us playing for Everton.

Like I said at the time, he had other top managers and clubs sniffing round him, and he was a regular in a very good Belgium team. He didn't become a bad player overnight.

I love the fact he didn't run and hide, but stuck his chest out and worked harder to turn things round. If every player had his attitude and dedication, we'd never have too many problems.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 17:34:47
You are right, the manner in which he has revived his United career is impressive. His goal celebrations alone show his spirit, lol. You can add Young, Valencia & Smalling to that list among others. Its great to see a togetherness and hard work ethic in our current squad.

Great result and performance yesterday!! biggest test to come against chelsea, I'm sure mourinho who is best tactician in a one off game in the league will have a plan. does anyone think LVG will change tactics against them or stick to same side/formation?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 14:41:58
Ideally SG in theory yes I would play the same team against Chelsea but like you said Jose will be monitoring our team at the moment and looking for weaknesses. It might not be a bad idea to tinkle a bit with the side to throw him a little. Then again in this form we could smash anyone on our day.

Agree1 Disagree2

13 Apr 2015 16:53:05
Id just swap everyone on the left to the right and right to left that should throw him off a bit ;)

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 17:30:39
Fabregas was shocking yesterday, best thing to happen was him getting the winner, so he is included. They look out of energy and I think Valencia will do well against Hazard, so basically we will beat them if we play as we have done as their key players are AWOL or will be taken care of.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 18:12:16
Jose will set up defensively and make sure they do not lose and if possible nick it by the odd goal. He does that in all big games.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 21:53:02
I imagine chelsea will get compact, sit deep and park the bus a little. Fellaini will possibly be the key in this game along with service from young and mata. Chelsea know we will want to come for the win so they will play on the counter. I think we will need to just try and get the first goal as I think whoever scores first will likely go on to win. I'm going to stick my neck out and go for 1-2 to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 11:43:06
I always love when our players prove me wrong . Fellaini has given me very much joy and did great to prove me wrong . If he can bully Yaya then he can bully majority of players . I remember how he used to bully us while playing for Everton and i was always scared of him . Now, time has changed and he is our weapon of ours which scares other . I can remember only one player being able to mark Fellaini successfully and that was Jones who fortunately plays for us :) . And further Carrick was like a king in the middle . Pellegrini employed Milner to mark him but it was great to see how easily Carrick tricked him every time and passed the ball like smooth flowing water . Milner was running everywhere to contain carrick but had no idea how to do it . It will be very hard to find his replacement, I hope LVG finds that awesome player to fill Carrick's boot :)

p.s how good it feels to beat our noisy neighbours :)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 12:47:53
Think Hummels would help with the control, calmness and quarter-back passing as Carrick gets older - carrick also acts like a mentor of jones and Smalling calmly giving them orders, educating them on the pitch. Van Gaal's on field voice? Hummels would take this on board, probably be made vice captain (obviously if we get him!)

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:14:18
Quarter back? lol.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:44:03
Maybe we should get Depay for Wide Receiver and Hummels as the Middle line backer as well?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 14:21:38
Depay lacks the measurables needed to play WR, doesn't demonstrate an ability to run a full route tree and has consistent problems with drops. While Hummels has a strong ability to attack the ball carrier he often fails to wrap up properly when tackling.

Fellaini would make a good tight end mind you.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 15:31:07
Well we already have felli for the charger role.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 10:01:22
With regards to David De Gea I would personally offer him 200k a week aswell as vice captaincy.

I would also sit him down and ask him what it is he wants to achieve and All be it reasonable I would tell him if he can not acheive this in a United shirt then he may leave for a mouthwatering 50-60million.
Fingers crossed that would entice him to signing a new 5 year contract as with a stronger defence I honestly beleive he could challenge neuer for worlds best keeper.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

13 Apr 2015 09:30:33
De Gea has been awesome this season but for me Felliani has been our best player. He tormented us at Everton and I'm glad he has found that form. The big man has gone from zero to hero

Believable10 Unbelievable2

13 Apr 2015 10:57:51
I know mate, 'Fele' used to scare me to death when he played against us and that was one of the reasons I was glad when we signed him, despite feeling there were better options out there for what we needed. He is clearly working hard in training to improve and really wants to play for the club which is great to see, he looks so chuffed when he scores and it is hard not to love him.

I was speaking to a taxi driver who was an Everton fan last week who said Fellaini is still his favourite player, he couldn't work out why United fans thought he couldn't play football because he always managed to do it for Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 11:24:55
Dave the Save has been our player of the season.When we were struggling, he kept us in games single handed, he has been outstanding.
I've been hugely critical of Fellaini, I've never been a fan to be honest but he has been superb. He's shown a lot of character and answered all his critics. He was brilliant yesterday,he seems to be getting better game by game.

Agree5 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:21:07
No one in the league that can handle him. He looks awkward but his positioning is great and he knows how to use his body. I was never in the bandwagon of slagging him off and got shit for it for believing otherwise as people viewed that as supporting Moyes. BTW herrera was also an outstanding purchase no matter who made the decision and so will shaw turn out to be. Expect a big year from him next year.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed004's Note - So with Fellaini's recent performances in mind. Would people still like to replace him in the summer. Obviously I wouldn't consider selling him as he has been fantastic and his work ethic is commendable. However, if we are to compete with the top teams in Europe do we need to look at replacing him?}

13 Apr 2015 14:05:55
I think if Fellaini teaches us anything it is that no player should be written off after 1 season at the club.

Ed004,

I think in certain games he is a fantastic option to have, but in other games he would not be needed if we had somebody else top quality in that position. So not necessarily a replacement, but to compete with top teams we would need someone else as well as him.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - That's what I was thinking as well GDS2. If we are to compete in Europe I think we need a top box to box midfielder there. Someone of the calibre of players such as Pogba (ideal signing), Gundogan or Modric. Fellaini would still be a key player in the team, especially against opposition teams that park the bus at old Trafford as he offers a unique threat}

13 Apr 2015 14:06:55
We do need another center mid of real quality, mainly because we lack strength in depth if any of Carrick, Fellaini, or Herrera are injured. It depends on who is available, but I think another box to box CM would be most needed. At the moment, Blind could play in Carrick's role, and Rooney can play in Fellaini's role, but we don't have another player quite like Herrera.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Maybe the Gundogan links are true then. He's a very similar player to Herrera}

13 Apr 2015 14:28:20
004 I think Felliani could be a real weapon for us in the CL next season should his form continue. Teams in Europe would have faced nothing like him in that type of competition. Even if we sign new CM's which is likely I cannot see him on the bench. He and Hererra are driving our Midfield at the moment.

Out of all the CM's in the Premier League who would take his place in our team? Before yesterday I would have said Yaya but man did Felliani make him look worthless.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I think in Europe a considerable amount of frees will be given against him and he may struggle against possession based teams like Barcelona and teams that press with high intensity such as Bayern and Madrid. Also reckon certain players could compete in the air with him like Ramos, Godin and Pique (least likely). It will be interesting to see him vs Chelsea with Ivanovic, Cahill and Matic on his side}

13 Apr 2015 14:40:21
That is my worry about Europe Ed004, the free kicks, last season he gave away so many and then got more and more frustrated and then cautioned or sent off which was. Half the balls in the air he won yesterday would be given as free kicks in Europe and he would have to adapt his game accordingly. Last season he never adapted and it meant he was pretty useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I think the Premiership suits him perfectly. It is a more physical league and there is less emphasis on technical ability. Whereas in Europe he may struggle. I know it's unfair to look back at the Bayern games because the whole team was poor but he was showed up technically. However, in international football he is still a frequent starter for Belgium so maybe he could adapt}

13 Apr 2015 17:39:04
Agree with Ed004 to a certain extent. Perhaps if we added a Vidal type (has he recovered well from his injury?) we would have a nice blend to choose from in Carrick, Blind, Vidal, Herrera and Fellaini - allowing us to mix and match as necessary?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 18:17:33
GDS

Last season he was injured and not right and we never saw the best off him. Even during our PL winning teams he gave Ferdinand and Vidic a torrid time even though both were at the top of their game.

He offers something totally different to anyone we have and i would never want to see him sold. In tight games he provides an outlet for our defenders and his hold up play is bar none the best.

I do agree it would be interesting to see who from chelsea will mark him, I reckon it must be Matic who is also a really good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 08:09:24
Yesterday emphasized above all other things that football is a team game built upon fundamental prerequisites such as desire, heart, confidence, fitness, hard work and trust as much as talent. All things being equal, talent will win out, but if a team suffers a deficit in the fundamentals, on the day they are likely to be beaten. The City squad arguably has more talent than ours, but yesterday, from their perspective, too many of their players failed to put in a full shift, and that made the difference. AND IT WAS WONDERFUL TO BEHOLD.

One would go so far as to say that yesterday's performance was very much like one of the best under SAF. Every player played his part well, ensuring that the sum of the parts was greater than the whole.

My question to the Eds is this. Did I understand correctly from these pages that there is an issue between LVG and the hierarchy that might result in him being replaced? Because if there is whoever has the problem needs to suck up their pride and ensure that any decision made is based upon footballing, and not on personal issues. Should this improvement in form continue and we cement our Champions League place, I, for one, believe LVG deserves an opportunity to see what he can do in Europe, after making further improvements to the squad over the summer.

United Linked with cavani for 55m and 300k wages.
we don't need him in my opinion.
we need quality defenders and midfield players, one winger.
If i am bale i would have chosen united over madrid and played in that excellent old trafford atmosphere yesterday.

Was thinking if you are a target of United and watching us yesterday with that Atmosphere which was unbelievable, you must be getting goose bumps thinking about playing there next year and i can"t think of a better football stadium in Europe that has that sort of feel.

I expect us to do early deals once the window opens and get whoever we want and let's not kid ourselves there is nothing like playing for United when we are in this sort of form. I only wish I had been there watching it live.

The real question is who are we in for and is there major departures. The RVP situation will be an interesting issue as frankly we have not missed him at all and a more balanced team without him.

Really which stadium, been to most except the german ones.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2015 13:24:13
Most of the German ones as you have said (which contradicts your statement of you can't think of another stadium in Europe which has that feel). In Britain Anfield on its day can be intimidating, Celtic park or in past years Ibrox Stadium.

The top Turkish and Greek clubs have an unbelievable atmosphere most weeks as well. In Italy the Lazio and Napoli fans are always vocal. The Noucamp can have a very good atmosphere especially on CL nights and the Bilbao fans are very passionate. There are more but that's just a few off the top of my head.

I'm not saying the atmosphere wasn't great at the weekend as it was but let's not pretend it's like that every week. Dortmund have been through the mill this season and still I see the fans crying and screaming at the end of the games right up until the last kick.

Oh beast where are you??

What a great day, I think united might actually be back, if we had played like that all season we would be pushing chelsea now, obviously it took a bit of time but thank god the players stuck with LVG and eventually started playing the right way. Next season we will be in a title challenge and back where we belong in the champions league, the manager took a lot of stick from certain people for the poor peformances so he has to take the credit for how we are playing now.

I am sure he will enjoy his meal at wings tonight, incidentally the restaurant where I met my girlfriend.

But it's nice to b posting with a far more positive outlook after the past month I must say lol 😉 lvg and all the players deserve a lot of credit to b fair, I didn't think lvg, his style of play or some of the players were the way forward but at the minute I'm happily being proven wrong lol 😊 I think 2-3 more signings and we're going to b some side 😊 and it's great to see Herrera and Mata linking so well, and young and Fellaini becoming really useful assets, and of course Rooney back up top where he belongs 😊 I'm just wondering who will make way if we buy a new cm in the summer ? And wat will happen if rvp comes back into the side ? Thoughts guys and eds ??
