First time poster.
Just wanted opinions on few things.
Firstly what do guys reckon on rvp injury? Convenient? Personally I'm sceptical. If it is the case he wants out I'd let him go as long as money is reinvested in quality midfielder. I feel we need to be changing formation. 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1. this would help our midfield problems which I believe are because of moyes persistence with 4-4-2.
Secondly I would give our younger players a chance to prove themselves. I don't think moyes will be sacked regardless of how this season goes so why not start planning and building for next season? Giggs, Rio should be used sparingly. They are past their best and blocking path for promising younger guys. I would have Powell back from Wigan, give adnan more time on pitch and play regular cb partnership. Personally I would go with vidic and Evans at back with smalling as back up. I would stick with Jones in midfield because I think he has the potential to be a beast in the yaya mould. Although I would be happy for him to play at cb if we buy quality midfielders.
I would love to see us play a high tempo pressing game so with our current squad I would play following. 4-3-2-1
De gea, rafa, vidic, Evans, evra. Carrick, Jones, Anderson. Rooney, kagawa. Rvp
What happens in next transfer Windows is anyone's guess atm so I am not going to speculate on who is coming or going. I do feel however we will get good idea where glaziers plan for us. did they take moyes in as a shoestring manager? Or will they back him with required funds? If so we should get indication of what his Manchester United team will look like before long.

Ok rant over. thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you want to know what type of owners we have look at the Tampa Bay buccaneers, their NFL franchise. Years of chronic under investment, So don't expect any bank busting transfers. Since the Glazers took over when have we bought someone that fans from over teams have stood up and gone wow that's a good signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - RVP?}

Actually the buccaneers have one of the highest payrolls in NFL. Nothing to do with the owners. Years of poor draft choices and bad trades and free agent pick ups.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, that was £22 million and our rivals spent three times as much. City loose the league and go out and spend £90 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Emptyred, to be fair to the Ed, your point was about a big name player, not how much money was spent.

He was spot on with RVP, as a player 'we bought that fans from other teams have stood up and gone wow that's a good signing'.

Question

Please don't take offence, after watching Veiera/Keane the other night my thoughts are that Keane would be a good fit as Man Utd manager just because of his grit and determination, I know as a manager like Moyes he's won nowt however in the future could you see it happening following his stint with Ireland?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I can't ever see it happening and Keane isn't just my favourite ever footballer, he is my favourite ever sportsman.}

The trouble is Keane has show not one iota of having a clue as a manager no matter how great a footballer he was

Interesting comments from moyes on the squad. " it is big enough" but answered if it was great squad with the same reply" it is big enough"

Sounds like from now till the summer we might see quite a few players shown the door, which I tend to think it is a good thing. The wages they earn are not justified by their performance and we can do better, that is some of the players and not talking about the ones everyone rates.

Moyes just confirmed RVP out for a month. Ouch. I really hope Moyes blasts Fellaini up there now just off Rooney. The two of them would be an absolute handfull for defenders. We've tried Kagawa in there the last few games and when it works it looks great but too often it doesn't work and we end up bullied. At the minute, Rooney and Jones aside, we are far too inneffective and far too nice to play against. Let stop messing about. Get some blokes on the pitch. Get Fellaini in his correct position and let him cause some problems in and around the box.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kags in the hole is not the reason we are bullied mate, playing a CB and winger in CM is the problem, without adequate investment in CM we will continue to struggle too

Agree0 Disagree0

You're so right elbow. If you push Fellaini forward and play him alongside Vidic, Smalling and Rio, we can bring that attractive football back. I call it the 4-2-4. Standard back four who can hoof it upfield to our 4 "strikers". The we have two wingers who can cross the ball back into the box if it happens to end up with them. And four tall lads in the box who can head the ball and bully opponents. Completely solves the midfield problem too.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem with Fellaini is if Moyes does this, and it's successful he's not a strong enough manager to then try and go back to playing attractive football. He'll stick to what he knows and we'll become a long-ball team fulltime. Ii, and many other fans, would be disgusted by this. But this strategy would also allow Moyes to spend less money on the midfield as he could bring in a couple of £10m scrappers and that would please the owners no end.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear sir
Ngiak suspects Felliaini is out for a while too
This would mean more of the fringe players getting more game time
That would mean a general increase in the squad form and fitness and cohesiveness
That's would mean more hungry players put out
Ngiak feels for moyes
3 of his big players all out though. And so many of the elderly available
Hope it's more playing time for the youngsters and not giggs and Ferdinand and evra
Gan

Agree0 Disagree0

I appreciate the comments and I agree the problems are the middle of the park but i'm not referring to Fellaini as a long ball outlet. He plays off Lukaku for Belgium a lot of the time and they seem to do alright. Thay also aren't branded with Big Sam's tactics. Fellaini's strength's shine through when he plays with his back to goal, not just in the air. We can still play attractive football but these makeshift midfielders can at least have something to hit. They will also be safe in the knowledge that when they do play to his feet, chest or head, it will stick. That is key as the confidence that hold up play brings allows for more off the ball runs. Rooney does this no problem but then we are limited to Hernandez starting up top and we all know he can be non existent when he starts. Whatever Moyes decides to go with, Kagawa/Roo, Roo/Hernandez or Fellaini/Roo we need to win.

RVP out for a month:

This is Moyes's fault, the game against Newcastle he was only suppose to play him 60 mins played the whole game. If was not fit he should of been on the bench.

Its mismanagement and he does not have faith in the squad players to get the job done.

To me this is another mark against Moyes, I want him to succeed but I can see us making champions league at this rate.

its mismanagement and he does not have faith in the squad players to get the job done

what a load of crap?. do you honestly believe welbeck who has scored less than 10 goals in past two seasons or henrnandez who click once in a full moon to do the job for us?

rvp is 30. do you realise that?. at the age of 30 you are almost done as a striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you see the Newcastle game? Moyes was shouting to RVP from to bench asking if he could last the 90. He clearly said yes or he'd have been taken off. In fairness you'd probably be complaining had Moyes taken off his best player when we were a goal down. Rvp has been injury prone his whole career. He had 2 seasons where he stayed reasonably injury free maybe this injury is not down to Moyes at all mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP has always been a sick note, he played one full season for Arsenal because he was after a contract which he got with Man u, Last year he played the whole season to justify his prize tag and most likely Ferguson played him through injections because he knew he would be off. Now, he probably feels he has nothing to prove, contract sealed and off to a nice Christmas break.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Benny! People would have had problems either way. Moyes can't win. RVP has had muscle injuries throughout his career. Can't really blame Moyes for anything bad that happens to be honest. Did we blame SAF for all the freakish injuries that Wayne suffered last season?

I am not aware of whether Moyes' methods have had a negative impact on Persie's fitness or not. But till the point its not conifirmed, there is no point crucifying him. By the way our fitness experts from last season haven't really changed. Unless you lot are assuming, Fergie gave VP an all soothing massage everynight ;-)

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Terrible news and this is when players like Welbeck and Hernandez need to step up and prove their worth.

I hope we play a 4231.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fitness staff may be the same but that doesn't mean that the fitness regime is necessarily the same. It was quite clear that last season RVP was doing something akin to what Giggs does in terms of keeping himself fit for matchdays, something that obviously hasn't been continued this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jobby

Its mismanagement and he does not have faith in the squad players to get the job done.

Neither do I, mate. Our squad players are of a poor standard and not good enough to win us games. Hernandez is an exception, or was an exception, but he's not as reliable as he once was.

Agree0 Disagree0

When fit and motivated RVP is lethal, but against Newcastle he was neither. Dropping deep to get on the ball when we can have Cleverly and Januzaj doing the work for him.

30 years old downhill for a striker, do you know of Didier Drogba?

And now we use the excuse he is injury prone, come off it. David Moyes in the interview said he was going to bring him off but did not want to piss the crowd off. Would I off moaned if he came off? NO! we were losing 1-0 and RVP DID NOT EVEN HAVE A SHOT ON GOAL!

Welbeck100% fit and fresh should of come of the bench a chance. That is why we have a squad to rotate.

Ed, do you know if MUFC are interested in El Shaarawy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG would all like to strike a deal with Milan at some point but El Shaarawy is generally happy where he is and Milan have no intention of selling unless a very significant offer is made.
Previous interest from Monaco and Spurs remains unconfirmed and Napoli dropped out of the running over the summer when they signed Callejon, as did Manchester City when they signed Jovetic.
Do not be surprised to see an offer from Dortmund or possibly Chelsea. I am not aware of any confirmed interest from Man Utd at this point in time.}

Cheers ed.

Banter please Ed.

Anyone else worried that the RVP leaving rumours are true? just so happens he has a thigh strain and he's out for a month?!

To be fair, for 37million i'd sell him at 30 years old.

Must be strikers out there who could come in. 18 yard box man.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This was my first thought, nozzla.

But I'm going to believe that he's just injured til proven otherwise, it'll stop me losing any more hair!

Hi ed, would it be possible to request a player profile for Freddy Guarin? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You will need to ask on the profile pages - I know nothing of them.}

He likes to shoot, anywhere any time. Can turn a game but does it too inconsistently. Can have stinkers more often than great games. Think nani but in centre mid.

Agree0 Disagree0

So another Anderson, then?
I was hoping this guy would be good as he seems very likely to sign - right price-bracket.

Did anyone see Modric's goal from distance the other night? A lovely strike. I read this morning that he practiced shooting from distance the night before with a former Real Madrid player by the name of Zinedine Zidane.

Surely some long range missiles will be finding the net for us soon once Phil Neville shows our midfield how it's done.

Agree0 Disagree0

MrE

I know what you mean, but he is better than Nani to be honest and whist he has bad games, he is really positive and does try and go past players and take a shot, which none of our midfielders do.

He also has great pace and will stick a foot in. Compared to what we have he is an improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a great player, if it wasn't for him like Rooney for us they would be in the bottom half.

Possibly the best news that we have had all season. Woodward has agreed to stick purely with financial matters and not involve himself in player negotiations. These will now be primarily headed up by Jim Lawlor, Robbie Cooke and Moyes himself who isn't willing to delegate as much as he did in the summer. Hopefully we will see the results of this in January where we need a couple of players to come in to guide us into the top 4.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Plenty of rumour but we will probably end up not getting any decent player

hi eds. 1 are we looking at di maria
2 do you think Gundogan will come or has he sign for some one else but koke would be good
3 think we should get a right back to contest with rafael

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (1) Not right now as far as I know. (2) It looked like Gundogan would be sold this past summer and there was interest from Rubin Kazan and Manchester City. However, with Goetze going a season before expected, Dortmund were always going to look to keep the player and are looking to negotiate a new deal with him. It had been suggested that Manchester United might try and strike a deal for the player this summer that is not activated until next summer - that always seemed unlikely to me. Both Barcelona and Arsenal spoke with his agent but made no approach to Dortmund. Enquiries to his club have been made by Chelsea and Real Madrid.}
