For those who didn't see, TFM was absolutely quality today. MOTM performance for Palace and really hope he is in Jose's plans moving forward.

The eds may shoot me down, especially 002. In my job I would want to join one place, it's nice and has great places to live and visit, it's definently number 1. However number 2 is a nice place and has lots going for it, not quite as good as number 1 at the moment, but has been and will be in the future with their plans. If number 2 offers me £2000 a year extra, I will choose them no hands down. Where I am was Ok, but not got a future. SANCHEZ DO YOU HEAR ME?

Not UTD related as such but Leicester CB Maguire is quickly becoming a very good CB. He could not have done any better against chelski and kept Morata in his pocket pretty much.

One to look at probably? In the future as a CS replacement.

Every time I’ve watched him I think he’s very average. Very big and cumbersome, positiobally poor, has heart that’s about it for me.

Apart from the dive, which he should have stayed up and gone for goal, Mahrez was class. Went round players like they weren't there, and put a few on a plate for the forwards. MOTM for me him.

13 Jan 2018 20:00:56
Good player - I saw him Old Trafford I think twice last season and looked good in a bad side.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 21:32:44
Was maguire good? or did N'Didi make him look good? like Matic makes our cb's look good like, Fernandinho makes city's look. average, let's be honest there are a handful of good cb's in the premiership 2 of them play for spurs in Alderwiereld and Vertonghen we have one. when he's fit in Bailly, Holgate looks very good. liked him when he managed to over come what he thought was something inexcusable in the Mersey side derby to put in a great second half (BTW not saying Firmino did anything i'm saying Holgate believed he did at that point but let's not get into that too much) . Also Christensen is very good and David Luiz works in a 5 man defence but i feel defenders are getting way too much credit when they are so covered for in modern systems especially Smalling and to a degree Rojo and Jones. Sounds like a rant but i do think defenders are being able to scrape by now the best example being John Stones.

Agree2 Disagree2

13 Jan 2018 21:50:16
At a time when it seems popular to have defenders who pass out from the back, take chances but have the confidence to move with the ball. Harry Maguire is a classic old style defender, he defends, ruggedly. It is hard to get past him, he plays physically, strongly, positively.

Maguire commits physically to the role, but the question in my mind is whether he can cope with a tricky pacy forward one on one who runs into space when your team is pushing forward. Has potential but is not Rio, yet is a defender you would want behind you on the pitch, no compromises.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 23:16:52
Red man you say maguire is no ‘rio’ when it comes to defending.

Who is?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 23:41:28
He was very good for Hull and I wish we’d signed him last summer. He will be better than Smalling, Rojo, Bailly and Jones.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 Jan 2018 00:38:38
Burnley have a good defender there in tarkowski. spelling.
Anytime I've seen him play he can defend.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2018 14:21:21
If we want a good old fashioned defender who just likes to defend and is good at it then my choice would be Lewis dunk from Brighton, could work well with bailly.

About 12 months ago I posted about Tahith Chong, sadly he sustained a bad injury. I understand he has now returned and some reports are saying they can see he has developed. He is at a key age when a young player can stand still or take a step. Keep an eye out for him.

I am very excited to see how Chong developers as a footballer. He has power and pace aligned to excellent technical skills. The lad is tall and once he fills out he will be of drogba proportions. I really really hope he fulfills his potential because if he does we will have an excellent player.

Yeh CSM his name is puigmal. Looks a player. We have some very good youngsters coming through. Need to show there is a chance of playing of making it here otherwise you will have a situation like Chelsea where youngsters have no chance. Having rashford, mctominay and Lingard is great to see.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 18:53:44
The Ed said a few weeks ago that we have upped our game on the youth side, not just trying to make a profit on it. Separate to the Ed I have heard there have been some good appointments.

Puigmal is very highly rated, I posted an article on here about him a while ago and we seem to be strongly recruiting, another lad from Coventry was also signed this week. One small point is that I hope they are putting the same into local Manchester lads. Gomes interests us all and we all have high hopes. The next Ronaldo is likely out there, let’s hope we can find him.

Sad that you have no idea about what planning means and have the small mentality of wanting to try to score cheap points.

Huggy,

Reports seem to indicate Chong has developed physically as well, has pace and power. No guarantee of success but I always like to see them make as much as possible out of their careers, even if it isn’t with us. There are an awful lot of our graduates out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 13:27:59
I have a couple of potential issues with this potential Sanchez deal.

First off he isn't as cheap as people make out, 20m upfront plus a player we paid 25m brings the cost around 45m. Then he wants a 10m signing on fee and around 7m bringing the cost to around 62m which isn't really that cheap for a player who'll turn 30 next season and only has 6 months left on his contract.

Secondly I don't think you should sign a player just because he is "cheap" in my mind if you don't think the player is worth the full asking price then you shouldn't be buying them. It's like the crap you buy in the January sales to later regret.
In the current market Sanchez would be worth around 80-90m, if you wouldn't consider him for that much then buying him because he is cheap is a silly thing to do.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

13 Jan 2018 14:41:16
If we’re happy to pay £30m for Lindelof, £30m for Fellaini, £30m for delay, etc I’d happily splash £80m on Sanchez.

Agree6 Disagree1

13 Jan 2018 16:19:15
Cant disagree with that stand, if we want the best we have to pay regardless.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jan 2018 16:27:35
Stand that's fair enough if that's your view.

It's more the people who wouldn't sign him for his true value but feels we should sign a player just because he is considered a bargain in the current market.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 16:31:12
I never have any issue with United and the money they pay to get a player. Doesn't make any odds what they pay.

If you want top notch then you have to pay it.

75 million on lukaku. I'm more than happy to see Sanchez valued at 80 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 17:00:29
It’s not our money. It’s the clubs.

Would Sanchez improve us? Yes
Is he world class? Yes
What do we lack? World class players
Is he injury prone? No
Is he short term? Yes
We need short and long term players as well.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 20:02:48
Mad hatter - nailed it.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 20:32:49
Whether or not Sanchez would be a plus in pure football terms is worthy of debate but to spend time conjecturing on his financial value based on wild speculation as to transfer fee, wages, signing bonus, agents fees and the value of a player going the other way, seems to me to be a bit pointless. Leave the money to the clubs. Would he fit in or not?

Sanchez is a top top player but has reportedly been unhappy and at arsenal and caused issues in the dressing room

The ed has said he wants to sign for city not United, do we still sign a player that want to play for city? And one that has shown in the past he can sulk when not happy?
Another di Maria? Great player, great to see the club again showing ambition really hope this works out for the best.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

13 Jan 2018 11:35:06
I’m not keen jred. I remember he was supposedly coming here a few years ago, he was the summer subject one Close season. I think that ship has sailed. I’m not a huge Jose fan but he seems to be getting some great team spirit and we have a good bunch of lads right now. Sanchez already has a reputation and the fact his team mates are pretty much ignoring him suggests he has not been bahving properly.

It has been rumoured for ages his heart is set on City, if he comes to us then I don’t think it will be for the right reasons,

Agree4 Disagree5

13 Jan 2018 11:43:03
Jred and Tony. He is world class. If he comes to United, then I'll be delighted. But he won't as he is 29 and wants to win the PL. City will give him this opportunity this year and for the next 3-4 years while Pep is still there.
For me, I think we should try and buy Malcolm, who looks a fantastic prospect and accept that Sanchez does not want to play for us.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 11:55:14
Usually these sorts of world class players don’t come up with such a low price tags. But it is clear he comes with baggage. However, he is exactly what we lack in the squad so I think we should do our all to sign him. I think most top players would be disillusioned at how amateur arsenal have become and it is clear he just wants to win. He’s off to city imo and I would much rather we signed Ozil then looked to the summer to sign Dybala/ griezmann. Think Dybala is a wonderful player and the perfect age so we would get him in his peak. Could be our Aguero.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 12:07:57
Schmid, I accept he is world class, I just think he wants to be elsewhere so it’s not a great move. Park, I’m not sure he is exactly what we lack, nor is Ozil. Ozil is class but he has done very little at Arsenal. Look at the PFA EPL team of the year for the last few years and you see who the to players are.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Jan 2018 12:10:30
Just checked, Sanchez made the PFA team once in 2015, Ozil never has.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 12:40:18
Last season our problem was getting goal from anyone other than our main striker.

This season our problem (less of a problem than last season admittedly) has been getting goals when lukaku isn't firing.

Sanchez gets goals even when he's not playing as a main striker.

No need to complicate things, no brainer we should sign him if possible.

Agree3 Disagree1

13 Jan 2018 13:01:39
I'd be happy with a player of that calibre which we obviously lack.

I understand he might have preferred the move to another club. I believe that many players have preferences when it comes to move. Ultimately it will come down to the player, if he moves here and is professional that's all that matters to me.

If he really doesn't want to move to united then he won't.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 13:08:02
Essentially when a world class player comes along who can improve your team at a significantly lower cost than the current market determines it is important to show interest. Cantona was seen as a troublemaker as was players like Gasgoine etc yet here we are today discussing those same players as game changers and champions of the world game.

Agree6 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 16:32:45

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2018 00:14:08
Do we think United were Pogba or Lukaku's first choice?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 10:30:36
There's been a lot of talk regarding Sanchez but if the talk of him having his heart set on City is true then let him join and struggle for game time. Just so there is no issue on my opinions regarding City they are the Espanyol, the Atletico, the Munich 1860, the Inter.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2018 11:06:57
I pushed send prematurely, what I wanted to state was that City are the lesser light and if Sanchez wanted to join them he was quite welcome. It cannot be disputed that City are having an amazing season but some of it has included some incredible luck and some very late goals that if Utd had scored the press would have made more an issue about. I do not expect Utd to gain Sanchez signature, if it happens he will have been an incredible capture if it doesn't we move on. I want players at Utd that buy into the rich history of the club and want to ply their trade at the country's most successful and biggest club, I don't want players here that see a city's second club as a better alternative.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 11:37:21
I agree although to dismiss City’s season is a little petty. For me, there are 2 teams in England with very strong histories and that is Liverpool and United. However, that only lasts so long if we stop winning things.

Like it or not, City look like they are here to stay and I suspect they will be more than able to compete for players with us.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 11:59:27
Georgie I think times have changed. City are no longer the noisy neighbours and are no longer at the stage of put down the foundations. They are ready to dominate and build a dynasty and we have to accept whether we like it or not they are here to stay. Now we can go two ways about it. We can moan and stick our head in the sand and be in denial. Or we accept the situation, rise to the challenge and fight tooth and nail to be the top dog again. Forget about history and living in the past because right now city are a more attractive option. We must back the manager and get the players we want in and not fear city. We should revel in this challenge and I for one and excited for the things to come.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 13:11:28
Georgie your post has lost credibility as soon as you started to put down teams such as 1860, Espanyol and even great clubs in their own right in A. Madrid and the great Inter Milan. Really disrespectful and shows your highlights your immature narrow mind set.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Jan 2018 17:30:17
It wasn't my intention to belittle those clubs I'm sure they are great clubs. The point I was trying to raise was that almost every player in the world would opt for the alternative club that they share their city with. I'm old fashioned I guess, I still believe that Utd are a hundred times greater than the club that has won two league titles and a couple of cups despite outspending ever other club in the last ten years. Nothing immature about that joker.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 19:02:16
Maze, I'm not a particularly prolific poster on here, but have been spending a little more time recently. I was just wondering why you regularly have to insult people within your posts. Would it not have been enough to say your comments are disrespectful to a number of great clubs instead of essentially calling people names for no discernable reason.

You are often lambasted on here even when you make valid points but this is due to the bad will you continue to build through unpleasant posts. Disagree by all means, even say that you think someone has spoken 'twaddle but I don't see the necessity for you to be unpleasant. I look forward to your reply Maze.

Ed002 has posted a response on the Arsenal site, where he states he believes Sanchez is only interested in joining city, with them being able to challenge for league and CL honours in the next 3/ 4 years. As Ed002 is 99.9% of the time bang on I think we can dismiss this one unfortunately.

Oh he also mentions the ludicrous salary Zlatan is on is a slight hinderence. Why the hell was he given another contract. He's utterly useless.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

13 Jan 2018 08:00:21
“He’s utterly useless” were you saying this last season when he was the only one banging in goals?

For the record Maze did not want ZI to sign a new deal due to the fact he could be stagnating the development of MR and AM but to label him as “useless” is nonsensical and stupid. Twaddle.

I would say he was poor last season, should have had double the goals he scored. He missed some sitters.

I don't really get this whole he more chance of winning stuff with city thing as far as I can see we've won more than city in recent seasons also yes city look very good this season but I don't really get how that translates as dominance in the near future .

Still they have won nothing yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 10:45:19
regardless of how he was last year, United were foolish to offer him a contract so early this season. he's fooled them to believe his powers of recovery he looked no where near fit. yet marcos rojo got no headlines from recovering from the same injury.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 11:14:48
To give a 36 year old with a torn acl the contract we give ibra seems a strange decision .
Mind you signing him in the first place was a short sighted.

Agree1 Disagree6

13 Jan 2018 12:10:32
Maze if you weren’t hiding under your rock most of last year you would have seen I said all last season he was a burden on the team. He may of scored a few goals, but he was detrimental the the way we played and we were better when he wasn’t playing. To then give him another 300k a week contract after an acl at the age of 36 is laughable.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 12:12:41

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 12:29:14
I was talking about this season Tony I'm pretty fed up with all the talk of fabulous man city.

It's like overnight we've become some piddly little club that can't attract the players we want because it's such an awful proposition to play for united.

I will probably get hammered for this by the usual crowd but imo we are the biggest club in the world and for me the choice of playing for a tin pot club with a half empty stadium and 5 minutes of history vs playing for historically the biggest club certainly in this country there is no choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They want success and don't care for a history lesson.}

13 Jan 2018 13:03:46
Signing him in the first place wasn't an issued me. Did very well IMO, scored a lot of goals, won trophies but when he tore his ACL, to renew his contract was extremely baffling.

13 Jan 2018 13:07:02
And Manchester United all of a sudden have no chance of success ed?

Why?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is a stupid comment and not what I said.}

13 Jan 2018 13:23:54
Stand that is fine if you claim ‘oh but Maze I said this months ago blah blah blah yawn’ but why does that render a great champion of the game “utterly useless”?

The simple answer is it does not. The new deal was a poor decision but your remarks are complete twaddle.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2018 13:31:30
Don't think he said that, it was more of Sanchez wanting to win trophies and city being better placed to offer those, but if we get a rb, lb, SMS and a replacement for ibra, I don't see why we can't do the same.

Agree0 Disagree0
