for mr D brown about modric not going anywhere fact because of the harry redknapp interview i remember seeing a sir alex interview once where he said ronaldo was not going to madrid infact his words were i wouldn't sell that mob a virus so just because manger and chairman say it don't mean nothing in the world of football if a player wants out then there is very little that can be done...now i don't think modric will leave spurs this season but nothing is ever definite and sir alex is like a mountie he always gets is man lol

I read somewhere nasri turned down a new contract

JUST HEARD FROM A FRIEND THAT UTD HAVE OFFERD NANI AND CLEVERLY FOR NASRI!! AND HE'S THE ONE WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE JONES TRANSFER WEEKS AGO!
-----------------------
SO Nasri, who is in the last year of his contract and could probably be had for less than 12mil is going to be swapped for Nani (easily worth 30mil) and Cleverly (who is just as big a talent as 17mil Henderson). So United are going to give up a min. of 40mil in talent for a player that could be had for 10mil cash? This is what happens when Arsenal and Liverpool fans find themselves depressed all summer and need to rain on the champions parade! Stay on your own board, it can be like group therapy. Which you could use... -KG

LOL i think Irish kev is away with the fairies and leprechauns, youd need more then bouqet of four leaf clovers to aquire the luck your lot need to get into the europa league places, im not a mastermind on fool finances but im positive that your are not "debt free", it was only 3 weeks ago when you were proclaiming we would not make any buys as we are skint, now we've snapped up two of your targets and paying more then his release clause! i cant wait to hear the next assumptions you'll be firing our way. p.s i never post on the liverfool page, id rather my watch my death in HD slowmotion.

Never!
You have been saving for a rainy day & this is it!
Enjoy our 2 targets mate - no skin off my nose quite frankly!
Jones would have been nice but we'll move onto a different target who will prove as effective i have no doubt!
As for all the other posters below my original comment especially to the stereotypical, bigamist, anti Irish posters - Ahahahahahahahahahaha - i got right up your whiskey noses clearly!
Stick it where ya like folks cause you brought the tone right down with your comments like the babies you are.
Always comes back to bigamy when you have NO real replies of merit!
Sad acts you bigamists are!
Is that the behaviour of a typical United supporter then???
No wonder i support a club with far more class.

Why is everyone saying that we are paying £20 mil for Jones. The fact is that we are paying the release clause amount of £16.5 million plus some add ons if we win major trophies. Of course the Liverpool biased media will try and bump up the price because their beloved King Kenny once again didn't get his man. Do you remember when he said "no one does that to me" when Roy Keane turned him down. Well it didn't do Roy much harm as he went on to become United's most successful ever captain. Lets hope turning down Kenny has the same effect for Jones.RAINFISHTROMBONE

£4million is loose change to us you sad little man. Id say the joke is on Liverpool. £10million on Adam? £12million on Downing? £20million on Aquilani? £17million for Johnson? £35million for Carroll?...I could go on but you see where Im going with this. Even IF United paid an extra £4million for a future England captain I will take that over the complete dross you lot have signed. How the mighty have fallen when the best they have to brag about is United paying an extra few £££'s. Now get back to your homework or there will be no dinner for you.

TK-Red
-----------------------------
We have money to spend clearly soft lad!
Whereas you lot on the other hand are still in debt so the extra £4m is not small change i'm afraid lol!!!
Remember who has new owners with plenty of cash & who has debt ridden owners now?
Is it coming back to you yet???
Its just funny as Fergie tried to mess up in Jan but failed then but we have succeeded now in making you lot pay extra.
I'm sure Jones like Carroll will end up pretty much worth their fees after 5 - 6 full seasons.
Did you forget £50m we got for Torres?
If we sold him for £25m & bought Carroll for £10m nobody would have questioned it would they?
What is the difference in each scenario?
£15m in case it's all gone over your high blood pressured head!!
The other signings you mention haven't even played a game for us yet / signed for that matter except Aqua - who was a mistake but we got £30m for Alonso so again not a terrible mistake.
And it wasn't Kenny who made it in any case which is my point!
Kenny is back & we're coming to get our position back!
LFC are coming - be afraid (which clearly you are due to the traffic on our page from your prawn sandwich fans)!
Stay off our page & i'll stay off yours - but i know ye won't so i'm here to stay (by the looks of it) & will wreck yer heads when i have the time until you stop lol!!

Guys I would urge you not to get too worked up over the traffic coming from the Liverpool site. Who really gives a sh!t what they think? The biggest part of their summer so far is Sir Alex having to pay a whopping 4m extra for Jones.

When they sign Adam they'll be back here again with the usual "we've got your target", "he chose us over you". Let them have Henderson, Adam, Downing, Dann. Average players going to a now average team.

Owen - has signed a 1 year deal so won't be going anywhere.
Anderson - If he can stay fit and get a run of games could be a great player
Berba - frustrating yes, but played a big part in no.19
Welbeck - deserves a chance in the squad next season
Evans - perhaps a season on loan playing regular would do him some good.
Phil Jones - I will presume that was a joke!

Jones is a defensive midfielder/Centre back. We have Fletcher & Carrick who can also play in that position. We also have Tunnicliffe & Pogba in the youth. We have also done fine without Hargreaves for two years so I fail to see a problem.
Sydney!
No I believe we have gotten away without a hargo type player, as you say players like carrick and ando have done that job to the detriment of their natural attacking game, Hargreaves was signed by saf after a two year transfer saga, I do not believe he signs players we don't need, but if you are happy to put round pegs in square holes fair enough, you mention pogba, tunnicliffe, whilst there is no doubting their talent they aren't ready to play a season in the senior squad yet in my opinion, especially in such a valuable role, I go to nearly every reserve home game and as you know they started most of the early season games for the ressies, I just believe that buying a true centre midfield player would release some players that have had some bad press I.e ando and carrick to play their natural game, sorry for the essay

Ok, here is how is see our current standing.

Signing of Jones complete, looks like we will get De Gea and Young. The one place everyone is now talking about is a creative midfielder. Now I would love to see us sign Modric or Nasri, not so keen on Sneijder due to his age, cost and best position.
I don't think I would be too disappointed if we didn't sign anyone else, as I this would hopefully mean Cleverley would get more game time. He is young and relatively inexperienced but I think with a good run of games we would see him flourish, and he could be rotated with Anderson who I still think could do well.

Just a thought.

Is it really? He's behind Rooney, Hernandez, berba (if he stays) and wellbeck. Hasn't had a great season in Italy and has a reputation for caring more about going clubbing than getting in the first team, I say cash in and spend the money towards the other deals were pushing for

Hallis

The kid has talent. You can't say he doesn't. I rate him a lot more then I rate Diouf and if he trains properly and stops parting so much, he also is left footed and he gives us a different than Rooney, Hernandez, Berba or Welbeck would from the bench so imo i think it is great news.

I don't know whether this is the case but I can't understand us signing a prospect which is what jones is at centreback and then playing him as a midfielder(I know he has the odd time at blackburn)why are we not signing the likes of m'villa a specialist if you like or a different kind of player but same pos, martinez, obviously nobody knows we are signing jones as a midfielder at first so maybe we are looking at a real midfielder, it is after all the position many feel is the one most in need of real class.

Ed002 - Are the Glazers looking to put part of the club on the stock market or all of it? If it's part of the club, do you believe they are doing this to pay off the bonds so that they can save £45m in interest?

Surely the Glazers would then take £25m in dividends and the other investors would take the dividends too? Meaning instead of the £45m going out of the club in interest, it will still go out of the club, but in dividends instead?

Could the Glazers use the stocks money to pay off their personal debts, after all, it's their money so their choice?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't know if all or part is proposed to be floated. And these are very early days. Obviously the Glazer's will look for the best deal for themselves, and if the bonds are left in place that will be rflected in the value of the business being floated. This will not happen overnight and this is not a new proposal either.}

Folk keep saying they'd like us to sign Shaqiri.

Isn't Shaqiri going out with Pique?

Ed (and others), am I the only one having mixed emotions about the stock market rumours? As much as Id like to get rid of the Glazers and their debt, I don't relish returning to the days of being a public company as it made transfers and business dealings much more difficult. The Glazers, despite crushing the club with debt, have grown the business side quite a bit, and the club will be turning huge profits once the debt is gone. I would much prefer to have someone step in and buy the club (and debt) privately, finally allowing the club to reach its full potential, both in a business and sporting sense. The revenues we should be bringing in over the next few years will allow us to compete with City, Madrid, etc for any players we want, and will allow us to pay enough to keep the players we want to keep. If the club goes public, the shareholders will want some return and any dealings will be open to the public and slow. That won't help the club and will squander a fantastic opportunity this club has moving forward to become a stable and self-made giant, on and off the pitch. -KG

De Gea will be perfect, not sure about his presence right now, but that will come with time. Ashley Young was not neaded, although a good player but with valencia nani park giggs and cleverley he is making an already strong position stronger plus he will be earning an outragous 33million over five years, whereas central midfield we are left with carirck fletcher anderson and giggs which is far from strong, and the player made number one target is nasri an attacking midfielder/winger. Modric and Charlie adam would be perfect. I think that the Jones deal is a matter of time, this is simply venksy trying to get a couple of extra mill.

No one can argue SAF doesn't know what he is doing? Not bad for a U21's team is it? Seven Englishman, Six players from Greater Manchester. Ten homegrown players.

with De Gea, Jones and Young looking like done deals(although lets not count our chickens until they've signed) people keep looking for 2/3 superstar signings. Sir alex said 3 maybe 4 signings now i think De Gea and Young are two of the signings he was on about and i think it was only liverpools interest in Jones that made us act in signing him this leads me to think that Jones was the "maybe 4" sir alex was talking about so by my calculations that means we'll sign 1 more first team signing and then maybe a couple of youth team players. I don't think that we actually have any interest in Sneijder if we did then he would have come as part of the Ronaldo deal a couple of years ago. I think its just media hype bourn out of comments from sneijder a year ago when he was angling for a new deal which he got. I think the last player will be either Modric or Nasri. And then that'll be it for our summer dealings. Personally i'd like us to sign Nasri and McCarthy as i think that'd give us everything we need for years to come.

To people asking about the u21 performances,

De Gea was a spectator. He was called into action just once and made a spectacular save to keep out the ball when it was destined for the corner (from his own team-mate). Will be the world's best in 2 yrs, no doubt about it.

Cleverley was played out of position on the right, yet looked the best England player on the pitch with respect to technical ability. Little impact though. Will be immense for us.

Henderson looked every bit the rubbish, overrated English youngster that he is. Got down on my knees and thanked god we didn't get him.

Welbeck was generally poor. Horrible first-touch but took his goal well. Doubt he will make it at Utd as a regular.

Jones looked very good. Smalling was brilliant. Amazing distribution for a 20yr old who has played league football for only 2 years. Jones and Smalling will be England and Utd's starting CB's come 2014, no doubt about it.

Martinez was the best player on the pitch by a mile. How Busquets starts ahead of him, I will never know. Would be a terrific signing for any top team in europe.
