A friend has told me that will Keane is off to Wigan on loan. Does anyone know if this is true? Hope so as looked quality before his injury and more competitive football will help him (potentially could get European experience too)

Reports say that Rene has got head coach at Fulham!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wish him all the best. One thing puzzled me is that Rene keeps being referred to as fergies assistant, I thought that was phelan

If anyone hasn't yet seen it, please have a look at the Iniesta to Manchester United rumor. Everyone needs a hearty laugh and a good joke everyday! Where do they make this stuff up I will never understand!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I saw it in the daily fail. Might apply for a job there as I have a fairly vivid imagination. Report said moyes may go for him in January but if anytime (and its a big if) I would guess it would be at end of his contract. let's face it if barca won't sell fabregas then can't see them letting iniesta go.

Just seen the news on Carricks injury and feel this could be the perfect scenario for us.

Of course losing Carrick will be a blow as he has been our most consistent midfielder for almost 2 years now.

However I also feel it will open the door to other pairings emerging. A combination of Fellaini or Jones with Cleverley, Kagawa, or even Anderson could become our staple in the coming weeks.

As much as Carrick is a great player I feel most of us see his lack of mobility as a major issue in our current side.

I feel a consistent Anderson is still the best option to partner a more defensive midfielder as he has more to his game than either Cleverley or Kagawa. However if he can't get past the lack of confidence he seems to have then of course all of our other midfielders and Jones will play ahead of him. I know he has had his chance to impress at OT but it still irritates me when he does get a chance to start he likes to play safe rather than using the talent he so obviously has.

As always all opinions welcome, unless they are wrong ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anderson is useless.

Plus injury to one of your most consistant players when you need them the most isn't something i'm happy seeing. To win the title you need everyone fit and doing there part.
All different competitions open the doors to the pairings you mentioned, and that would include a full squad to choose from, otherwise it wouldn't just be carrick that will be injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we'll see jones/cleverley for 6 weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones & Cleverley will probably line up in midfield with Rooney dropping back slightly.

It's odd that RvP and Carrick have been injury-free for years up until Moyes training methods.

I think things need to change if we are going to be able to manage players like Carrick & RvP.

Agree0 Disagree0

FZZ

Anderson has shown on many occasions that he isn't useless however he is inconsistent.

Until fans can learn the difference between those two words we will always have people bad mouthing our squad of players.

People forget that he would start for most other sides in the league. The best current example of this would be the Sunderland defence against City. 3 of 4 were ex United, all deemed as useless by a large number of our fans yet still good enough on their day to keep a clean sheet against a top side.

Again I will say a consistent anderson paired with a more defensive midfielder would be our best option as a 2 man midfield in my opinion.

hi, agree but u can't say kawaga is not doing good.he is not a wing, he is a playmaker and a playmaker should play behind forwards.let kawaga play where he used to at dortmund then u can jugde him after he has had a run of games in is best position, it will be like putting vidic in goal and make him save the shoots he is getting.hope u did understand what I was trying to say, have a nice day:) ggmu

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson does not have massive talent. He had huge potential but has not developed into a decent midfielder, let alone a top class one. This is partly SAF's doing by trying to convert him to a box-to-box player, but any player who struggles to complete the full 90 minutes is not worthy of the tag, professional. Anderson would have been sold a long time ago if anyone was willing to pay his wages.

Carrick is a massive loss and the pressure is now on Fellaini to step up. We have lost one of our most important players at a crucial point in the season. We now need Fellaini and Cleverly to make sure that we're still in the race until he comes back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also want to add that Carrick has generally been used in most competitions due to a fear of dropping him because of his consistency.

When he is fit and there isn't a large number of games on the horizon he is never dropped.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only pairing I want to see with Fellaini is the exit. As for the rest of my wrong opinions, Jones was outstanding, in Mid, against Aresnal and for the first time looked eager to get forward. Carrick of course will be a loss and many on here have said in the past "what if Carrick gets injured?" guess we will find out over the next 6 weeks.

I still think we need at least 6 players over the next 2 seasons, hopefully some will be our own youth players, just to cover for upcoming retirals and players who are just not good enough.

The good news :) if we only sign a quarter of the players paper linked with us we will need a bigger dressing room.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Sydney

RVP has nowhere near been "injury free for years". He was always an injury prone player. The last two years, luck has smiled upon him with the injuries.

Carrick's injury is not a muscle related injury so I don't think training has anything to do with it. It works both ways, we can see Rooney fitter than ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

El Paso

Anderson has shown on many occasions that he isn't useless? When exactly was that?
There is a reason why he only plays a handfull of games a season, he's overweight, can't run, has no staminah, and has been a passenger for 99% of his united career.
This is his 6th season and he has done absolutely nothing, if anything he has gone backwards.
face it, he hasn't lived upto expectations and the hype when we bought him from Porto.
He also earns a lot of money, he would be the first out of the door and off my wage bill in January if I was Moyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rvp main injury seems to be the knock he took on his toe playing for Holland

Agree0 Disagree0

Paso sorry but I have to disagree with you. The only consistency Anderson can manage is to be injured. His injury problems haven't helped him but when you have a player in the squad that spends a third of the season injured and another third trying to get fit and is incapable of finishing a game then that makes him useless. Carrick out for any length of time is a disaster. We could cope with injuries to any player apart from him due to the paucity of resources. I have faith that Cleverley can do a job, and Jones as well, but Fellaini needs to step up. And beyond those three we have nothing else. Shinji would get battered playing midfield and Anderson as a solution? Worst time for an injury and this should force us into the market.

Agree0 Disagree0

Every injury we get in the squad from now on will be down to "Moyes training methods". absolute rubbish!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, what's your view on Moyes' training methods when it comes to Rooney?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney,

So how about the fact all our defenders were fit for the start of the season and we still have 5 centre backs fit when last season we had one fit and played carrick there I imagine because of 'Fergie's training methods'.

RVP has an injury with his toe, what exact training method do you think he is using? Is it a shock that two of our older players have picked up niggles? I usually agree with you Syd but that post sounded a little daft.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is fit because he has pulled his finger out of his ear and got himself fit. He was fit before Moyes started his training, before Moyes was even back from his holidays. RvP & Carrick need to be managed carefully and if they are overworked they will pick up injuries. SAF has said it himself. RvP has a calf strain which he hasn't had for nearly three years when he was at Arsenal. RvP knows how to manage his own body and SAF allowed him to do this. Same goes for Carrick. Both have been managing themselves well for years now and they have had no issues. It is no secret. Moyes' training has been intensified dramatically and RvP has made his concerns known via a third party. The Holland coach has said Moyes' training methods are dinosaur. Ask Ed001 what Moyes' training methods are like. RvP and Carrick have had niggling injuries ever since Moyes took charge and up until now. They have both clearly been training and playing whilst injured. I bet the pain killing injection supplies are running low ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard it all, how could an injury to our best midfielder be a good thing?!
Anderson is worse than useless and can't finish a game. Have we been watching the same player?

Agree0 Disagree0

So any injuries are down to Moyes' training, and any improvements like Rooney (I'd like to know how you know he was so fit before Moyes came in, by the way), are down to the player making the effort.

Rather convenient to suit your argument, Syd, no?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd reply to you ElPaso, but there have been numerous posts above that have said more than what I'd say.
Anderson couldn't even last the full game vs Everton res nuff said - Get rid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steviek, perhaps because Moyes took his first training session on the 9th July and Rooney was a lean mean running machine during the England friendlies end of May, beginning of June. So unless Moyes was training Rooney personally whilst still contracted to Everton, then he was already in proper shape before Moyes took over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rio has come out and said that he was worried when Moyes took over cause he knows his own body and knows how hard to push it and knew Moyes pushed training hard but was delighted when DM let him continue with what works for him.

How do you know Syd that he doesn't do the same with Carrick and RVP?

But then you have contacts in Carrington so they probably seen them on their knees trying to catch their breaths after another Barbaric training session.

Agree0 Disagree0

And the rest of my point, Syd?

Agree0 Disagree0

Likke I stated in my original post it is a blow to lose Carrick. However the point I was making, which most seem to have missed, is that we are over reliant on him. Just like Liverpool with Stevie Me, Chelsea with Fat Frank etc.

We need to have other options available.

As for the Anderson hate. I'm sure we have all been dissapointed by him over his time here, but to call him useless and overweight is a touch unfair. Yes he hasn't reached his potential, but 2 years ago we were all drooling over a Cleverley/Anderson pairing. At that time Carrick was finished in most fans eyes. However he worked hard and reestablished himself as our first choice.

My wish is that our other midfielders who all have a bucket load of talent take this oportunity to do the same.

A fit consistent Anderson would be amazing for us at the moment. He has an eye for a pass, run with the ball and beat men, he has a decent engine, and good positional play. His biggest problem is that he has played within himself in his more recent outings.

I also agree that he should have been moved on before now, but he wasn't. He is still a United player and because of this will get my full support and belief that he can be a great player for us. We as a club have far too often let players go before they should have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
I don't think it's anything to do with his calf, reported as toe and groin

Agree0 Disagree0

El Paso, Anderson is a donkey. He had potential, true, but since he came to Manchester, he hasn't knuckled down, he can't train or diet properly. He looks fat, he huffs and puffs after forty minutes. I'll be honest, he's shown glimpses. Ok, he has had a lot of injuries, but a player who doesn't look after themselves properly will always be injured AND look unfit. I think he thought he had made it when he came here and lived it up a bit. All about attitude and mentality. He is not in Kagawa's league or Cleverly's for that matter. Could Petrucci be recalled, or Powell? We have Adnan, Zaha, Wellbeck, Giggs, Nani, Fletcher(?) and Young. There are options there. Some are better than others obviously. Anderson is finished as a Manchester United player. He never really started.

Agree0 Disagree0

BigLewandowski and others

what is the deal with calling Anderson Fat?

I don't get it, yeah the lads got a stocky frame but he is slim as feck. If he is fat then I am obese.

If you don't like a player make an argument based on their playing ability not their appearance.

Also he has been shifted from a naturally offensive player, one who used to operate in the no 10 role, into a box to box midfielder. He is 25/26 and is about to hit his prime years soon. He is settled and seems to be liked in the changing room. There are many reasons as to why he shouldn't be booted out of the door, but the main one as to why he should get a chance is because from all our midfielders he is the ONLY one who attempts cross field passes.

I am not blinded by love for the player, I just feel he has a lot to offer our side, and feel he would be a better option than some at the moment.

Fellaini I feel will never find a role in the 11 due to being a jack of all and master of none, but a good option from the bench.

Cleverley is a runner, he creates options and covers ground, again not garrunteed 11.

Jones is a great player in the DM role, just needs to improve his distribution.

Fletcher is touch and go still.

And the rest of names mentioned aren't really CM, although I feel Kagawa can do a job there with the right personel around him ie an energetic DM, 2 inverted wingers and Rooney droping deep to collect.

However as I have said previously I would prefer a more accomplished player in our squad, and the only CM under 30 I would keep at the end of the season would be Cleverley.

Agree0 Disagree0

El Paso

Your statement that reads "We as a club have far too often let players go before they should have been"
You do realise that Anderson is now starting his 6th season with Man United.
I think that Anderson has had long enough don't you.
He's been a stain on the wage bill probably earning 70-80 grand a week, what is he doing for this money? I'll tell you what he's doing he's keeping McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC'S profits healthy.
Lets face it, he's just been a massive dissapointment and a complete waste of money from the start.

Agree0 Disagree0

As for preferring to put powell or petrucci in instead I aplaud your bravery but point out your (for lack of a better word) stupidity. Look at Powell - an amazing prospect who is a no 10 naturally and playing as a striker at the moment to come back and play in a box to box role. The same role he seemed to be lost in last season.

As for Petrucci, you will not find many bigger fans of the lad. I have been watching him ever since he moved to us and boy what a player he is.

However he is fragile, he has always had difficulties with the robust nature of the footballing culture here and has suffered severe injuries. He also hasn't played much first team football over the last few years, maybe 20 games in total.

I expect neither of these players will be recalled to fill Carricks or any other injured players boots.

Agree0 Disagree0

El Paso, a bit rich, pointing out my"stupidity", when you think losing Carrick for six weeks is a "perfect scenario". You are also of the opinion he has "more to his game" than Kagawa. I don't see that at all.
Firstly, Anderson, for a footballer, is fat ie, overweight. He is not stocky nor has he got big bones. He is knackered by half time, hence his ability to give the ball away with alarming regularity. He has the wrong mentality. He has had his chance and hasn't taken any of them. He has had a few good moments for Utd, but he has been here SIX seasons and maybe had half a dozen good games.
Secondly, I was just offering a few options of who could possibly come into the team, not necessarily in Carrick's position, they are options that could be rotated in to the team and allow other players to fill other positions.
Thirdly, I don't think anyone has ever drooled over a Cleverly/Anderson partnership. Ever.

Hey eds/all,
Just wondering is it true that united are in the market for a left back and cm in January and possibly another cm and a cb then in the summer?also talk of a left sided attacker?anybody heard anything on the possibility of shaw and will hughes arriving?i could be totally wrong but it genuinely looks like moyes is trying to get united to play like arsenal/Liverpool etc in the sense of free flowing, possession, entertaining, attacking football and is targeting players to suit this?hence the links with koke/Herrera/Moreno.i really like what he's trying to implement.anyway thanks guys feedback appreciated as always {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A left back and a central midfielder are priority. Center back and left sided midfielder/forward are the other positions being looked at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suggest you read Shaw's recent post on Twitter (can find it on Saints WS.) He isn't going anywhere! But the press seem unable to read, so they will continue to trot out repeats of their old "stories".

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence Saint, but footballers aren't exactly bastions of the truth when discussing their future plans.

I'm sure Saint Luke might be the exception, though :)

Ed(s),

Has there been any progress in signing Rooney to a new contract? Is it more likely he will stay or transfer? {Ed002's Note - I would not worry about the contract situation.}
