Sounds like a better version of Ander Herrera.
He would be the perfect signing to play alongside Pogba and Matic.

The PSG game highlighted our lack of creativity from central midfield when Pogba is stifled.
But not sure whether United still has interest in him or if he is willing to move.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he would be excellent in the midfield, personally I think you could do worse than replacing Matic with him, rather than Herrera. Then you would have him on the left side, Herrera on the right side and Pogba dossing around wherever he wants.}

15 Feb 2019 06:28:45
Agree Ed.
Would be a massive signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would love to see him out from under Simeone and given some freedom to play. I want to see what he can do given his head.}

15 Feb 2019 09:14:14
I honestly don't get why dome fans want simeone as our next manager. Sure its effective but i'd rather watch paint dry.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced he is as good as people make out either. These are the worst Barcelona and Real Madrid teams in years but he struggles to compete over the course of a league season. That is when he should have the advantage as neither of those teams can rely on their superstars to win them every game. When the cameras are on in the big games big players turn up and perform, but in the little games the stars often have off nights. While a good balances team like Atletico should not have that problem and so should turn up pretty much every week under a top class manager. Especially when you consider how week the Spanish league is outside of these 3, you have to wonder if Simeone is really that good.}

15 Feb 2019 11:13:07
Thanks Ed001, what a player he is!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - one of my current favourites mate.}

15 Feb 2019 13:37:03
Agreed Ed. Madrid have been shocking this season and you realise just how much Ronaldo carried them, even on a decline and not running as much his goals really did carry them. I think Barcelona have slowly declined since first xavi then iniesta left. Messi hasn't looked the same without them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they have both bought badly as well which hasn't helped. Though Vinicius is fantastic.}

15 Feb 2019 15:47:40
He does look a prospect. I know eyes were raised at the fee at the time given his age/ inexperience but given the way fees have gone could turn out a bargain.

I dislike monday night kick off's .
The weekend is not quite the same when everyone else played plays and we dont.

Tough game ahead of us. Chelsea have a decent home record and have a point to prove following the city thrashing.
Martial and jessie are out. Imo we will miss jessie more than the very inconsistent martial .
So who do we all think will start.
I think our midfield will stay as the usual 3 ( or should i say the only 3)
I hope the back 4 contains dalot. i'd like to see bailly and lindelof play together again.

Lukaku right rash left and sanchez through the middle is a possible combination.
At least our injuries are in an area where we have cover.

Chong, rashford and lukaku. Greenwood on the bench and Sanchez on the sofa watching on tv.

Agree8 Disagree2

14 Feb 2019 21:50:38
I can understand that point of view mort. Sanchez has been nothing short of awful but with martial out he might get a run of games in a more attacking system in a bid to recapture some form. I know its a long shot but we are not blessed with experienced options.
I don't think ole will throw kids into this game but i could well be wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 06:07:00
I like your thought Ken.
Rashford and Lukaku, both have pace to play on the wing or as an inside forward.

It is better that Sanchez centrally, mostly near the penalty box. His ball control and finishing is still good in tight areas.
It is while trying to dribble where he loses possession.

Chong or Gomez can be brought on in the second half so that we can ease them in gradually.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 07:44:11
I really don’t understand how Sanchez is anywhere near the team, he continually stinks the place out. We all want him to play well but just willing it to happen isn’t working. I’d rather play Rashford, Lukaku and Gomez.

Agree6 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 09:16:15
I get that Ken. But as AJH says he's been awful and just hoping he suddenly comes good isn't enough. Maybe its time to try someone else. Give a young guy like Gomes or Chong a go instead. See if they're able to seize the chance like Rashford did.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 09:49:19
I hear you ajh and mort. As i say i don't think he will throw them in to this game.
Id be delighted if he did. If we had won on tuesday it might have been more likely.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 09:55:54
Could do 3-5-2, Lindelof smalling bailly

Dalot, herrera, matic, pogba, shaw

Lukaku rashford

Smalling and lukaku offers a bit more height and threat from corners, I like dalots crossing but his defensive side needs work so playing 3 at the back offers a bit more cover.

Would like to see chong and gomez on the bench, greenwood looks scary good but I want to hold him back for just a bit longer maybe last game or 2 of the season if they are dead rubbers.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 19:56:01
I don't think we're going to have the luxury of dead rubbers, mate. Unless it all goes t*ts up.

15 Feb 2019 21:44:45
I was thinking the same nou. Squeaky bum time i reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2019 22:21:26
We won't know till much closer the time. We could be 4th with a 4 point gap to 5th or 5th with a 4 point gap to 4th or any other scenario with a game to go.

Greenwood looks the most promising player since 92. I want to do everything we can to make sure he progresses smoothly. There are people far more qualified than me to say when the times right so if its felt its best that he doesn't play this season I am fine with that no matter how much I want to see him play is the point I want to make.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 12:40:13
Hello Ed001,

United are lacking a solid right sided forward and a right back. Who do you think would suit the club and the counter attacking style?

Sanchez, Martial, Rashford all prefer to operate on the left side or through the middle. Mata lacks pace.

I really wanted us to sign Mane or Bernardo Silva before they joined our rivals.

Few posters have sounded out Jadon Sancho. He has proved himself for just 1 season, so I am not really convinced of him.

Ed002 had suggested Douglas Costa as a target. He has pace but not sure about his end product.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Pepe would be good for right wing and Reece James for right back I would suggest. There are not many good full backs around but he has stood out as looking far too good at Championship level and should be in that Chelsea team really.}

14 Feb 2019 16:16:02
How about Cengiz Ünder for RW?
Also sorry for the random name but what of Mário Fernandes of CSKA for RB?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest in any of these players from Manchester United.}

14 Feb 2019 18:29:54
Nicholas Pepe seems to be a great shout.
But will he be ready to take the next step?

Malcom comes to mind, who showed promise in Ligue 1 but is struggling at Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - MU has no interest in Pepe.}

15 Feb 2019 07:27:09
Ed are you able to disclose who the clubs targets are? Does it remain Costa and Koulibaly?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Both are still of interest to the club Fresh!}

16 Feb 2019 06:50:40
I don't understand why the club would buy Douglas Costa when a young talent like Jadon Sancho is around. Perhaps the club football decision maker knows best, again?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - who says Sancho would be interested in joining?}

15 Feb 2019 23:55:56
ED002
Is that right? Man Utd have no interest in Jadon Sancho?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They have no declared interest. In confirming Manchester City's option when asked this week Watzke also said there has been no approach for the player who is not for sale. When he left MC at least Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal expressed an interest but he had his heart set on Dortmund.}

Malcolm, lemar or leon bailey. 3 lefties that play on the right and can cut in, also could go old school and swap wings to throw crosses into the box for lukaku as a plan b if things are not going to well.

14 Feb 2019 12:45:21
I would target 5 players this summer.

Wan-Bissaka, Digne, Koulibaly, Rakitic and Lozano.

Shift out the usual suspects.

Alderweireld, Sancho, Pereira and Kanté for me. I'd throw everything at Chelsea to get that wee gem.

Ricardo Pereira, Koulibaly, Neves/ N’Dombele, Sancho and A striker to replace Rom.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 18:27:42
Ideally : Mbappe, Varane, Verrati, Jao Cancelo (RW, CB, CM and RB)
Realistically : Lozano, Koulibaly, Saul Niguez, Wan Bissaka.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 18:40:24
First would sell Sanchez, Mata, Pereira, Rojo, Darmian, Fred and even Lukaku (Since Rashford would be our main striker and we have Martial to cover him)

Players to target.

CB - DeLigt/ Koulibaly
wing back - Sessegnon and Wan Bissaka
RW - Hueng Min Son
CM x2 - Neves and Houssem Aouar
Backup Stiker - Raul Jimenez

Also we have plenty of young talent from the academy that is knocking on the first team'd door.

14 Feb 2019 22:12:30
Kante is a great shout, way they are going wouldn’t be unreasonable that Kante could be unsettled, dunno if there is interest there but he would be great in our team in his role.

14 Feb 2019 22:32:29
If Chelsea fall out of the top 4, and they constantly play him out of position, could be possible Welsh. Though he doesn't seem the sort of bloke that would actively agitate for a move. I'd still try, though 😁.

So sad to hear of the passing of Eric Harrison, after a few years suffering from dementia. He will leave a legacy, not only at Utd with the Class of '92, but to English football in general, with the many other young lad's who ended up plying their trade in professional football, throughout the leagues.

Great read Ed001. I particularly liked the picture 🤣👏.
Back to football, fans really embarrass the clubs sometimes. They can enjoy but to become hooliganistic is just uncalled for. Throwing cans and bottles and flares are just so dumb more so ripping the protective net. It’s no wonder some of these morons give a very bad name to the group called fans/ supporters. But when really s*** happens then they start regretting. What’s the use of that when they never even think before they act or overreact 🤦‍♂️. Some of these so-called supporters should just be given lifetime ban and end of story. Truly embarrassing.
BUT thanks for the posts and work Eds.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, sadly the hooligan days are coming back, in large part because Hollywood has made it seem cool through movies about it.}

14 Feb 2019 09:08:30
Cheers Ed. Icardi and his wife seem to be some piece of work!

Dear me what a difference 1 game makes .

Believable9 Unbelievable12

14 Feb 2019 06:42:24
Agree. Don’t understand why there is so much criticism. Fine we lost a game. But it’s not the end of the world. It’s not like we are strong enough to be challenging the CL trophy. I believe the focus should be:
1. Ensure we continue with momentum and be top 4 in PL.
2. Try to go as far as possible in FA Cup and win if possible.
3. Go as far as possible in CL this season.
Those would be the priorities I feel in that order.
We have a good team but by no means a team to be challenging on all fronts. We have not been doing too well for the last 5 years and I would think just because we have a new manager (OGS or anyone else) we would suddenly be the top team in a flash. I sincerely think even if we have Poch in as manager in summer there is no bloody guarantee. We still need to really beef up our defense. We have a decent midfield but can still improve. We also still need to beef up our attacking team and improve teamwork. The only position we are world class is our GK. All else will need improvement. So even if you have a world class manager we still are short.
I believe that OGS has the mentality and character to bring us forward. Beside SAF will be guiding him behind the scene. If we could also tie Phelan to 1-2 years till Carrick and team are up to standard we could then build to be become title challengers for CL title. Otherwise I think we should target and win the PL next season and possibly FA and League Cups.
That’s my humble opinion and hope we don’t slag the team just on 1 loss. There will be more to come but hopefully not crucial to knock us out of top 4. Rome certainly wasn’t built in one day.

Good post 666.
We don't have a squad capable of competing to win the epl or cl.
But there has been a lot of improvement from where we were under jose this season.
Tue night was no surprise to most but if we had not been so unlucky to lose 2 of the front 3 within 2 mins of each other the result might have been better.
Top 4 is the main priority.
The squad have only managed that twice in the last 5 seasons. that's the reality of where we are.
Some people put all that blame on the 3 previous managers, and yes none of them covered themselves in glory but the reality is the players are and have not been good enough either.
Ole has us moving in a better direction. The style and mood has improved along with the results. We have hit a little road bump i am sure we will see a good reaction and focus will return to the league and securing enough points to pip arsenal and chelsea to 4th.
