Respect to any fans who observed the minutes silence. As a very long standing LFC fan and football fan I appreciate our tribalism and acknowledge not only the mutual disregard supporters have as part of banter. I have some issues with fans who abuse others with vile undertones as they are not true fans, they have no respect or class. Recentley at Old Trafford a fan of your team was abusive using a one worded chant begining with 'm' and repeating it continually. The stewards intervened and I bear no grudges as everybody else on the day who looked after us were first class. I told my two youngest sons to watch Scholes today if they wanted to see how to play in midfield (the lad is pure class), unfortunately they are both Evertonians! Football if truely appreciated crosses our tribalistic boundaries and is something we should share as a passion. Banter is good lads, pure abuse says more about the person who has to abuse others.

Just read the minutes silence at your game wasn't actually for the 96, I didn't see the start of your game as I was at the memorial service so didn't know about the minutes silence but seen a comment say on the LFC site about it which is where the confusion has began I think, so I'd like to thank all that have posted on our site instead like Shappy and GAGUS instead, at times like this the footballing family should pull together, both us and you know about dark days for our teams and we should never bring them into the rivalry.

I think we are definatly on the look out for a left footed player, now the two targets that spring to mind are Rodriguez and Gaitan. However, is there any chance that Di Maria could be brought away from Real Madrid? Does any of the ed's know about this? Di Maria would be a talented and reputable choice. Perhaps Gaitan will be the main tarhet, but Di Maria would be a great choice.

RedDevil19 {Ed004's Note - According to Ed 2 it is Man City who are trying to get Di Maria}

Well today i thought we did very well overcoming a potentially tricky game against Villa. The differance Scholes makes to our midfield is alarming regardless of how awesome a player he is at 38 we shouldn't be relying on him so heavily. Evans has been an absolute rock since christmas and just goes to show what a run of games can do for a player, he has to be first choice with Vidic now, which means we have no need for a CB or RB imo in the summer as Smalling and Jones may need games there to keep them up to speed. Carrick had another solid game and should have had a couple of shots when in good positions but chose to pass instead. I thought Villa's best player was Lichaj who was playing out of position and up against Valencia and did as well as i've seen anyone do against him all season. Young dived and we all know it, i don't like to see it but the same as all fans will reluctantly except a penalty in a situation like that, maybe that's a bit cowardly of me but i'm not perfect and like i said most fans would as well. Although i would back any campaign to rid football of cheating. Like the commentators said how many times have Villa benefited from Young Diving in the four and a half years he played for them. I thought Wayne had a shocking game, his touch passing and shooting were crap although he did well from the spot. I hope he isn't having off field issues again which always get reflected by his performances on it. Another clean sheet for the supposed worst keeper in the league according to the press, i do love watching him shove their words down their throats. Rafael also had a solid game against the tricky Agbonlahor. Overall i am pleased with our days work, now we just need Nani and Cleverley to get some more playing time between now and the City game as i feel we'll need both of them to get a something from that game and hopefully Wayne can find some form against his boyhood club next weekend. I feel the City game will be decisive in who wins the league so maybe we should be looking at having a three man midfield with Scholes Carrick and Cleverley to try and control the game.

Shappy {Ed004's Note - I am the same as you Shappy. I am hoping there is nothing going on with Rooney we need him focused for the next 4 games}

Good result

We won 4 nil yet I didnt really feel we pressed home the game at times especially in the second half. When we started the second half we didnt seem to want to really nail Villa and put them to the sword like City did with Norwich. It was almost like we didnt know what to do to pin them back.

The biggest concern for me is Rooney, I watched him today and he looked off the pace, about 5 times in a row he gave the ball away. I might be wrong but to me he didnt look well or he has something serious on his mind such as home problems, certainly he looked distracted and it is unusual for him to be substituted twice in a row like that.

Welbeck needed to score before half time as he demonstrated the lack of goal scoring instinct up to then. I watched his control, his attempts at hold up play, his end product and was actually hoping Berbatov would be brought on at half time for him. Welbeck is a decent premier league player, but a Manchester United centre forward? No.

Evans, credit where it is due he has had a good run of games up to Wigan last Wednesday, when he was frankly awful. He improved from Wednesday.

Young, I watched the screens at half time and was frankly disgusted by the dive. That is twice and I cant imagine SAF accepting this. Actually I think today has made me wonder whether Ashley Young is at the right club.

Rafael, Valencia Scholes all had good games for me and Carrick did what he does well. Finally Nani , nothing has changed, I saw nothing in him today which we didnt know.

It was a 4 nil win yet didnt feel like we thrashed them, we got there but didnt seem to know how to really control the game and put them away. We must focus for Everton, Evertons form could go either way after yesterday. We have a week to prepare and hopefully Rooney will have got through whatever his problem is.

To play centrally you need to have a very good football brain, if you make a wrong decision in the centre then you don't get another chance. Unfortunately Nani has no football brain at all so he shouldn't be played centrally IMO.

Shappy

Usually, you're one of the only regulars who speaks sense, but this is just drivel. To say that Nani has no football brain is ridiculous. Did you see him at the start of the season, his passing and running off and on the ball was as good as anyone else's. When he came on today, his decision making was good and resulted in a goal.

The site seems to be lacking Nani haters right now. I still stand by my saying that he is our best winger. A bold statement, given that we have Valencia, who's in great form, but doesn't offer the same magic.

Johnny Evans, again was magnificent, as was Scholes. Rooney didn't have a brilliant game, but still got 2 goals, so who's complaining? Has anyone noticed that Evra has picked up his game and is fairly solid defensively? Maybe there's life in him yet. Cleverley also looked good when he came on, after the stumble mid-week, things are looking up.

Yeah 3 on the bag!

Young dived, yes he did, but we're not the refs, so, its not our job! Don't blame us to know how to take advantages. Every and each team at the PL has diving players.

De Gea- always impressive

Evans- every game, he just gets better(really my favorite since January)

Carrick- he always good as long as he has a good MC alongside.

Valencia- words for what?

Rooney- not impressive, again!

Wellbeck- thanks God he scored!

Paul Scholes- Really, thank you for coming back!

Just to mention some...

Cheers mates good result and game, who's next? Oh Everton, I hope wr beat them as well!

Who's a better cheater, Bale or Ashley Young? I think Young will be far better as he can flop like he's just been shot in both legs at the same time. Disgusting! Are the refs anti City or pro United? Hard to tell. Either way , disgusting! The FA needs to be harsh on players like Bale and Young. They are bad examples for the game.

ANOTHER PENALTY FOR UNITED ??

Guys, is this the only way you can win games, either penalties or getting players sent off ?

Its sad, honestly.....a team with a tremendous pedigree resorting to these tactics....your heading for a big fall guys, sooner rather than later

Your players are bringing the club down, cant believe the number of penalties given in your favour, any wonder why people are getting VERY suspicious.....and to think Fergie slates other teams players for DIVING, thats rich eh ?

Obviously foreign referees are not so scared of the whinging pensioner, which is why you are so crap in Europe.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed007's Note - He won the league Blair, that's good enough for me this year. We went from 15 points behind Rangers to claim top spot even before Rangers financial meltdown and went on a 26 game unbeaten run. Even if Rangers hadn't been deducted points we would still be 8 points clear. The team is still young and can only get better.}

Quick question for someone to help me out as I'm a little confused, but, the following players were named as Man Utd's squad for the premier league this season up until January, so how come Paul Scholes was able to play?

Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Johnny Evans, Michael Owen, Anderson, Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Chris Smalling, Ji-Sung Park, Javier Hernandez, Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick, Nani, Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia, Darron Gibson, Tomasz Kuszczak, Mame Biram Diouf and Anders Lindegaard

With news coming out today that the club may be floated in August do you think if 600mil is raised we could use some of it to fund the summer transfers?
And, if we pay of the bond debt does that mean we don't need to have the cash in bank account?

I've just seen on the bbc that the boss has said that fabio will go out on loan next season. Now thats good cos he could get a chance to impress and he needs a regular run of games. But ends this mean we're either signing a left back or fryers will sign a new deal?

I'll try this one again seeing as it didn't get posted.
Thanks Ed :)

Fergie has just been saying that Fabio will be going on loan
next season to get some concentrated football in the hope that he will develop like Rafael has.

If Fryers is stalling on a new contract, i imagine Fergie would have someone in mind as back up/cover at LB.

Any suggestions who that might be?

Everyone seems to think this is the year we will rebuild and buy big. I hope Fergie sees this even if we do win the league. I think we need 3 o 4 players. I hope its any of these who are all get able in my eyes if we gave the money.
Winger- muniain, hazard, gaitan.
Cm- witsel. Strootman. Kagawa.
Lb- cissokho, angel, n left back from Granada.
Hopefully we will hav some money for someone like van wolfswinkel. Think all these would be get able. Let me no wot you think.

smalling ferdi evans evra

carrick scholes

welbeck/chica
I'm also assuming that jones is unavailable after being injured vs. wigan. i think playing young and toni in more central roles might give them a bit more freedom to have a shot. if that doesn't work you could keep the same formation, but put young and toni out wide.

Hey fellow united fans,just a quick post probably means nothing but here it goes.we all know that saf has personaly scouted eden hazard as its been confirmed.i could be wrong but personaly it shows saf is really interested especially when it was the night before a game.
This also tells mw that hazard hasnt signed for anybody yet like the rumours he had signed for spurs.if he had why would saf scout him personaly the night before a game?now even though ive an extremely bad feeling we have got gaitan im also praying in that im wrong and that theres a slight chance its a smokescreen for hazard as gaitan to me isnt united quality.22million plus too players for him is ridicilous.hazard to me would be the closest player we have had to ronaldo since he left and i think he would excel in the free role behind the striker.
Just what i think guys pls dont slate me.i think we will get clyne,strootman and gaitan or hazard with a youngster maybe.

I was wondering Ed if any of this had ever happened.
Like we have about 27-28 squad members and around 15 reserves and a few academy players who could play in reserves.
4 teams of MANU are made and matches are played between them. Teams are balanced also giving reserves & academy players valuable experience. {Ed002's Note - No, it won't have.}
