Am I the only person in the world to consider a move for Raheem Sterling to United isn't an option at all? I mean this is the same Manchester United that blocked any move from Liverpool to sign Gabriel Heinz purely because they are Liverpool. The rivalry is as such that the two do not trade players, while Sterling is still under contract, regardless of how long is left, surely they would sell to anyone BUT United. The only possibility that United could acquire the player would be if Sterling had reached the end of his contract, which he hasn't. I've heard this rumour doing the rounds for a while on the internet and am quite baffled that it is still being entertained, admittedly the rumour seems to have died down on here and apologies for reignighting an old flame, but I notice today that the papers seem to have caught wind and I felt obliged to make a point and invite opposing opinion. Anything but 'don't believe the papers', I think that's a given.

What to make of the game today....
The first 30 minutes was outstanding, in my opinion the best football we have played all season. Cleverley and Carrick were immense in that spell quick passes, solid shield in front of the back four, RVP clinical as ever with Young and Valencia providing width to stretch them. Only real dissapointment of that spell was the taking of chances Rooney should have had 2 or 3, Evra missed a sitter, Young had a chance etc.
Then the game changed at half time, Carrick gets a knock and is taken off for precaution and our football goes downhill when he brings Scholes on. I turned to my mate when he ran out to come on and said, "Why him, why not Fletcher" Fletcher would have provided that energy and quickness of passing which was so effective in the first half. Instead Scholes comes on and it's as if the team is told "Give the ball to Scholes" even when we are in really threatening positions we turn back to give the ball to Scholes. It's not his fault, hes a club Legend but him and Giggs I think have gone one season too many. We needed to let them go this summer and re-invest in centre midfield, Wanyama and Isco are my personal choices.
I think the reasoning for the lack of second half performance was the substitutions, the Scholes one on the basis of how succesful we were in how we played in the first half was a poor one. And the giggs one to partner Scholes just meaned we lacked any sort of pace and energy in the midfield where we were overrun time and time again which would have done Vidic no favours with his first appearance back.
Swansea away next week has to be...

My match analysis:
De Gea: Looking much more confident every game he plays and no faults, therefore a good performance.
Jones: Really impressed with him, he has hit the ground running after injury, defiantly has a future at the club.
Rio: Been good in his previous games, but this game highlighted that he should be starting as often as he is, once Vidic and Evans are fit Rio can become a back-up.
Smalling: Sensational, one of my favorite United players currently, doing so well and as I have already said if his name was Angelo' Henriquez he would be hyped up so much but it's good to see him progressing so much.
Evra: Disappointing today, kept making mistakes and losing possession in silly areas.
Valencia: 50/50 really, he beat his man several times and put in a deadly cross, but also acted confused when on the ball sometimes, hopefully he can return to his former self, becoming our no.7 was a bad thing I think, maybe he thinks he has to live up to such a high expectation.
Carrick: Continues to do what he does best, when he went off you could see the effect he had on the game.
Cleverley: Gaining confidence and starting to score some nice goals again, I knew he would start to become what we expected him to become.
Young: Beating his man several times and has been sensational the last 3 games, I did have my doubts for him but if he keeps this up I will change my mind easily, not holding my breath though.
Rooney: Another great game by himself, played really well. He does seem to pull us out of sticky situations with ease.
RVP: Another great performance, was wasteful with some shots, I can see him having a rampage soon and scoring a handful.
Scholes and Giggs killed the game one they came on, it's upsetting having the fans moan and groan when they see them come on, legends being covered with they're last years of mediocrity performances, please don't sign another contract, we all love you but your time is up.
Purple patch incoming lads!

Hi Everyone!
Couple of things to talk about the transfer, mainly on wingers( i know we desperately need a Midfielder but I have already talked about the options and the best solution).
1 I won't want us to sign Walcott, having said that I won't mind if we sign him for free. Yes he is good, but not amazing( he lacks football brain and skills, granted he is very fast)
2 Same goes to Zaha and Ince, and knowing how they are so hyped right now, watever price they will cost, it will be too much. We have immense talent Daelhi( beautiful to watch, creative, technical and skillfull on the ball) and Januzaj(prefers to play as number 10).
3 Wingers:- lets face it, right now our wingers are no way near how our wingers used to be(Best, Ronaldo, Beckham, Giggs(50 years ago).
Young has played well but we all know he is never a world class, he is just good, thats all. Valencia last has big dip in his form not sure when he will be back to his full form and well.. best not say anything about Nani.
So here are the best 2 options
1 James Rodriguez :- 21 right age with lots of experience most importantly very good attitude, works hard(defends aswell)He is already a star(who will definitely improve the team). Winger who can take the place at our right wing. I am not going into the detail profile since there is already a website already.
My only concern is the price tag €45m, I know that Porto has this exaggerated way of putting buy out clause like Hulk €(100m or 120m) when they actually let him go around €40m.
Having said if James Rodriguez cost us around £20m, he is worth it.
2 Isco
Isco however is the player for me and ticks every box. Technically at the age of 20, he exceed everyone of his age in terms of skills, beautiful first touch, football brain, and reads his opponent like a book. I don't like it when people say he is the next Iniesta. But there is just something intrinsically amazing about his touch and dribbling that you really can't help but think of Iniesta. Wizard with ball, creative, nice crosses, plays more on left wing and drops in with his creative vision and pass. The boy is complete package and if I am not wrong he has sign new contract but has $18m( for the best u21 player!!! )release clause.
Most importantly, i am certain he can adapt to English games with strong upper and lower body strength(life Mata and Silva). He defends and he can move left to right and crosses from both sides. Imagine
Kagawa, Rooney and Isco inter-changing to tear apart any defences with RVP to finish it off.
What do u guys think?

Top post. I would be happy with either Isco or Rodriguez. Think we will go for the latter though with Isco going to City.
Given concerns over Nani, Young and Valencia there is an argument to go for both but thats not gonna happen.
Nani will go so whatever we get for him will soften the financial blow.

Was thinking that people here may again come out to praise Valencia for his performance today but finally everyone has realized how wasteful he is. He completely slows down the pace of the game. All the counter attacking momentum is lost once Valencia decides to nutmeg the opposition defender and stands still with the ball. The only game he looked good was against Arsenal. Santos has to be the worst LB ever to play in the PL. Hope that Valencia finds his form very soon.
On another note RVP makes football look so easy. If we had a couple of more players as skilled as him we would be so great to watch. He is not the fastest on the pitch but everytime he touches the ball I just cry out tears of joy.

Brilliant 3pts today. Rio & Smalling were great, love Jones at RB as he is an excellent high crosser.
Carrick & T Clev were also great today. Rooney, RVP bossing it as usual (good to see Roo's back in shooting form) and Young has really upped his game recently. Been amazing last 3, assists in all 3.
Rooney has scored in his last 3, RVP in his last 5 at least one goal in each.

Just saw Fergie's post match interview. interesting how he says sunderland came back into the game in the last half hour and maybe we relaxed too much. I am sure he must know it has to do with the substitutions and having Giggs and Scholes on.
Good news is that Rafael is ready for next week and nothing wrong with Carrick so don't expect to Scholes and Giggs anywhere near the team sheet.
Valencia was very poor and not sure what options we have on the right.

Rooney on the right with Hernandez up top. It will not stop Rooney from getting in the box. There is always Rafael or Nani or Young who can play right wing. We are not short of options although it does answer the question to why we looked at Moura.

If young plays right wing we have no one that can play left wing, maybe Welbeck. Rafael would be an interesting choice but I think maybe jones can do a job there. He made some great runs today and his crossing was pretty impressive, might turn out to be a gem in a few years.
Just read Fergie's interview where he says we have a very good midfield and he has selection problems. I hope he does not seriously believe that as scholes and giggs are not good enough and we need a playmaker and holding midfielder and that would be ideal and guys can rotate based on who is playing best.

Jred, I remember your post about SAF boxing clever and using Cleverley and Anderson sparingly for the business end of the season and I fully agreed with that. However I didn't agree with what you said a week later when you said Cleverley seems to have lost his place or fallen in the pecking order. I think Cleverley is first choice along with Carrick, but I think the manager wanted Cleverley to get UCL experience so played him in them games instead of the League games. I think that we have seen the last of the great Ferdinand/Vidic partnership due too both of them now lacking in pace. I don't think this will be a great loss though because Jones and Smalling have the potential to be a world class Man United and England partnership. However, I think Evans has earned his place in our starting 11. He has been brilliant for the last year or so and he's starting to become one of the first names on the team sheet. With all of these players soon to become fit i don't think we will need to sign another centre back until one of Ferdinand or Vidic moves on. Thoughts?

Happy with the 1st XI team selection today, but do we realy need giggs, scoles and fletch on the bench? with the likes Nani, Evans, Rafael, buttner all missing looks like Powell, petrucci and other youth wont get much game time. {Ed004's Note - What is wrong with Rafael, surprised he isn't even a sub today unless he is injured}

Probabaly given a day off, maybe on holiday or something, he does deserve it after all.

Gutted. City were being battered second half until that goal. If only cisse had scored that easy chance just after their.first.come back.goal.

Fitting that Jones gets a start today. We all saw the look on his face on the final day last season and shared his pain. Now hopefully we see the lad get a goal in an absolute trouncing.

Have they taken away the rule of kicking the ball away after the whistle being a yellow card because Tevez repeatedly does it in games and nothing gets mentioned..

Anyone else believe Fergie's statement that "Revenge not necessary" against Sunderland today was just to protect the players from bad press.
I'm actually thinking (hoping) it will be a demolition job on them personally. What they done on the last day of last season was terrible and a prime example of fans getting kicks out of us failing, a lot like we're acustomed to from Scouse fans. A Manchester United routing is well overdue 6/7-0 just to silence the rest of the league and most importantly give those Sunderland fans a bitter taste in their mouths!
Another point I'd like to make, someone on here lastnight slating Romaldo's attitude to his defensive duties... Read Gary Neville's inspiring interview on Ronaldo. He explained how he changed his min and alot of the other veterans mind on how the game should be played, saying that he was that special he was worth two, maybe three attackers and 9/10 he would score given the chance. So he was not excused from defending put everyone knew he would punish them on the counter. He also goes on to say Ronaldo gave Neville a saying in training in his early days at the club he still stands by, "Too much water kills the plant".
Sorry about the lengthy post but hope its a good read.

Its silly.... All I have heard watching the City v Toon game is City were the only team to look like getting the win and that they dominated the game.... Its a joke Young was onside and would of buried the game but no as soon as Man United get a bad decision nobody mentions it.

Saying "I've had a season ticket for 7 years but I'm only 231" doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't it be "I've only had a season ticket for 7 years even though I'm 231".

A pint of whatever Mr Rodgers is drinking.....
After a grand total of 2 league wins in a row, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes they are now capable of challenging for 2nd place!!!
He added that should they win their next couple of league games then his next targets will be the Grand National and the University Boat Race.

I think you can't count them out of top 4 place especially if they buy a couple of decent players in January. They are playing decent football and I think it could be very competitive for 3rd and 4th place between Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton.

Shahram are you for real mate? They need to offload the rest of Kenny's flops before buying. Their struggling to hold onto certain players who are waiting to see where they finish this seaosn beofre deciding their future. Things aint as rosy there as people make out. And just what top players are they going to attract in January?
8th place or lower i think.

For no name
I am not saying they will but they are 4 points off the Cl spot and could surprise people and get in there. I personally think spurs will do it if they can stay healthy but you know how football goes, couple of injuries to key players can change the fortunes of a team.
