I understand. It was just to clarify if you can say I know this has happened, blah, blah... Rather than having to say it like a rumour as the site is titled rumour/banter and there is legal implications as your using players names for instance.
I feel like I'm waffling now, and I need a coffee. But I'm sure you get my drift.

T K Red mate, you have misundestood. GAGUS suggested that Evra could have been left out because of the Ajax fans and I was saying that wouldn't be the case, so we agree on that. Also I know it's a banter site mate, thats why I come on your site as theres always a decent dispute or debate going on. I was just saying he was implying I was in the wrong or some kind of person when he was the one who was in-correct. Anyway at least the Arsenal fans will pipe down again now!

Lets say with sales in the summer on top of the budget that we have, then we may have around £60 million. So on that basis:

Javi Garcia
Mehdi Benatia
Nicolas Gaitan
Lucas Ocampos

They will be our signings.

A lot of people, worrying and moaning about Manchester united's current players/season/signings.

Could be worse, could be an Arsenal fan.

If you look at our recent transfers you will see that pretty much all of the players we have brought, we have not been linked with too much. Look at the summer, Jones and Young were hardly the most popular news story for us.

On that basis a name that has not been talked about as much will probably come in, i think we could be in for Thiago Alcantara, here's why:

- Barca need to find funs for their next big player (Thiago Silva or Gareth Bale).

- He is unhappy at the lack of opportunities.

- He's a great fit for us, good going forwards, picks a pass and generally sits quite deep.

We could see a line up of:

Valencia Thiago Alcantara Cleverly Nani

Rooney Welbeck

Ed, can a post fail a review stage because it could have to much truth in it meaning some sort of potential legal issue? If that makes sense?

Supasub {Ed003's Note - I know what you are saying,the answer is No of course not, how could it be a legal issue for telling the truth}

Do you think it would be possible to sign Thiago Alcantara from Barca? I heard earlier in the year that he was unhappy at the lack of opportunities and i don't see him breaking into the first team set up there anytime soon. He is probably one of the more 'perfect' Man Utd players that we need to be going for - thoughts/information?

Ok somone asked earlier what is United standard.

Well here are 2 examples:

For me United standard is Toni Valencia, a very good crosser one of the best at crossing but what sets him apart as United standard is his attitude and his workrate, energy, works hard for the team.

Contrast that with Berbatov, yes technically very good and skillfull, but his attitude most of the time leaves a lot to be desired.

Now we have Young, which one does he seem more like? Unlike Valencia he doesn't have an outstanding attribute. Whereas at Villa i saw him go hiding on a pitch more than once, ducking out of challenges etc.

For all of those saying how great Gaitan is been watching the Zenit Benfica game and he has just been subbed at 90mins with a pass completion rate of 47%

i know it is 1 game and stats aren't everything but if we are trying to emulate the 'Barca-way' players who give the ball away most of the time are not who we want.

"West Ham United's Ravel Morrison has been charged under FA Rule E3 for use of abusive and/or insulting words including a reference to a person's sexual orientation."

I think SAF knew what he is doing when he said "Ravel, off u go then"..
Surely, his mental behavior will destroy his football career.

And i m glad, we sold him. We dont want trouble maker in our team who would blow the club reputation like Suarez.

GAGUS mate I can't see that being the case, Suarez was a big hero of there's yes but fans move on. Also he wouldn't get a reception half as bad as the one at Anfield. My guess would be a "rest" or to give someone else a run out, Fabio mabye? Also you lot love a wish list don't you. Almost as bad as the cospiracies and moaners on ours. Lol. Eriksen, Martinez and Ronaldo in the summer lads?

Cleverley, Scholes, Giggs, Park, Pogba, Tunners, Carrick, fletcher, Anderson, Petrucci and the likely addition of either Rodwell, Barkley or Gaitan.

I'm actually quite happy with this, hear me out.

We've got 4 players who control the tempo of games; Cleverley, Scholes, Giggs and Carrick. Cleverley is first choice then we have the old boys for experience and teaching Cleverley new tricks, also we've got Carrick as a back up or as the option to play alongside Cleverley.

We've got our box2box work horse style midfielders in Park, Pogba, tunners and Fletcher. Park and Fletcher are the experienced heads who will help fine tune Pogba and Tunners while also playing back up to them if needed.

Then we've got the attacking midfielders of Anderson and Petrucci while also having Giggs and at times Rooney in that area. (possibly Gaitan/Barkley). Giggs is likely to play back up to those two and Rooney of course may steal that role if he needs too.

Plus we've got Jones and Tunners who can play the CDM role if need be.

To me, it seems we've got a few of the older heads stepping down right in line with the younger lads coming in plus players like Carrick and Fletcher who are hitting/ have hit their peak years.

Old lads; Giggs and Scholes.
Back ups; Park, Carrick, Fletcher.
New generation; Anderson, Cleverley, new signing, Pogba, Tunners, Petrucci and possibly Jones.

Yes it's not the strongets midfield in the world but if Cleverley, Pogba, Tunners and Petrucci are the players we know they can be then we've arguably got the best CM in the world in 2 or 3 years time.

I wonder did Fergie leave Evra out of the squad because Suarez used to play for Ajax, and he may get a frosty reception?

People saying that scholes and giggs staying is going to stop us progressing are rediculous. I mean united are still going to buy players no matter if they are there or not. Pogba isn't geting in the first team football because SAF probly doesn't feel he is quite there yet and wots the rush he will be good but sometimes it can be bad to a young players development throwing them in at the deep end he mite get some europa league game time but that will be it unless we are thrashing a team in the prem. Next season he will get more starts but not loads unless he really impresses. I don't like how most people on here think they no better than SAF he sees first had pogba training and he will no when the lad is ready. Most of you shud stick to football manager

Sydney I understand where your coming from but the way I see it is we need to make places available in the squad for new arrivals, we need fresh faces in with new Idea's.. No name, we don't have to spend fortunes players, we just need to make the right purchases.Spurs are a great example of that, look at there midfield.... HERBIE

So what are people's thoughts on Scholes staying beyond this season? Personnaly I'm not happy about it, Scholes and Giggs should call it a day at the end of the season. Pogba will get less play time, no CM signings and the usual excuses of no value and we have strengh in depth will follow. The old gaurd have been brilliant for 20 yrs but its time to hang there boots up and force Fergie to buy new players and bring new idea's, and move with the times.... HERBIE

gds i'll still be here in two three months don't worry about that. If young can play like that fair enough. I'm not convinced. He is a player that blows hot and cold. He has patches of form. He was like that at villa and no disrespect to villa we are quite a step up. Is he capable of making that step up? I always thought it was a strange signing. He's very one footed but unlike valencia he doesn't have world class crossing ability. Always having to turn back onto his right it gives the full back time to do something. Fair enough if he comes good then the club can only benefit. But i doubt he will. The likes of carrick, evans, fletcher and gibson copped bucket loads rather unfairly. I express an opinion that i don't like young, he's a limited player and not a signing that i believe was a good one just my opinion.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

15 Feb 2012 13:01:18
I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and give my opinions on who we should be signing and why.

Firstly i think the positions that we need to improve are the AM/Winger position and in central midfield. They are the two most important positions for me.

Nicolas Gaitan: £20,000,000

I think that Gaitan would be an excellent addition, i can remember his performance quite well against us and i was quite impressed. We already lack that left footed player that we could use, we will lack one even more when Giggs retires. We always seem to lack that creativity when Rooney is absent and we can't always rely on him - Gaitan could play that role if need be whilst also being effective on the left wing as well as central midfield. I think we can negotiate the price down to £20,000,000 and put a few add ons, maybe international appearences or something.

Javi Martinez: £18,000,000 - £25,000,000

He is the perfect Manchester United player. Apart from Owen Hargreaves we have not had a Roy Keane type general and this boy is certainly that. He's about 6ft 5 and has learnt his trade in central midfield, defensive midfield and at center back. We know that we often have defensive injuries and a reinforcement in there could be needed. Benatia is an option but if we want to save on wages, etc, then we get two or even three players in one with Martinez. At best a deal worth £18,000,000 could be on the cards with add ons, but the higher price is the more likely.

Why these two are enough:

- Whilst both these players are 'pricey' they are actually all that we need. Another center back isn't needed as Jones needs more playing time there to learn his trade, an experienced player in there would hinder his progress. If need be Martinez fills in there.

- At full backs we have first choice in Rafael and Evra, but Smalling, Jones, Fabio, Fryers, Evans and Valencia can all fill in there. Evra will not be moved on in the summer, finding a quality repalcement for him would be hard and i don't think an Izaguirre or Alba is any better.

- Up top we need to give Macheda and Keane a fair crack, any more strikers would make their opportunities less. We would have Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez as first choice with the other two lads getting games where they can. Having Gaitan in the squad would also mean that Rooney can play up top on his own instead of having to sit in the whole.

In general these players give us more options and i would be happy to see us spend £50,000,000 on the two of them.

Squad that has gone to Ajax...

De Gea, Amos; Fabio, Rafael, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Fryers, Ferdinand; Valencia, Nani, Carrick, Young, Park, Scholes, Cleverley, Pogba; Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck.

No EVRA or BERBATOV....or giggs

Fabio or Fryers to start LB..... I would say Fabio but Fryers has looked good in the games he has played....

I would like this...________ De Gea

Raf _ Evans _ Smalling _ Fabio

i still stand by what i say. Ashley young is not good enough. I'm not on about him being poor after coming back from injury. Fair enough he's been injured. I think he wasn't a good signing as he's not good enough. He doesn't have an outstanding ability like valencia. And he isn't as good as nani. So what about the arsenal game well sorry but their were poor that day. Half a team out injured and replacements weren't good enough. Moving on to gaitan he is not united standard and how any one can say he's better than eriksen or gotze needs a trip to specssavers. I think he will be a poor signing when there is better talent out there. As for signing a striker well if owen, berb and diouf all leave it leaves us light. Macheda is not good enough and will keane isn't quite ready yet.

Given Gignac's recent basic 'come and get me plea' to us, do you think any movement there could be seen from us. We will be off loading strikers in the summer and i think we will be left with just three (maybe Macheda will be given a chance, Keane will definatly play some part).

Gignac would offer us height and power and wouldn't be all that bad, probably around the £12 million mark at most. Thoughts? Who would your preferred striker be?

Employment Benefit Trusts.

EBTs allowed foreign stars to have their wages paid into a trust — and then withdraw the money once they were no longer living in Britain. They would then avoid paying the top 50 per cent rate of UK tax but the taxman has declared that illegal

Given this brought Rangers to their knees, anyone know whether we are one of those clubs that used this?

apc who would i sign instead of gaitan. Well four names spring to mind straight away. Eriksen, ozil, gotze, kagawa. Maybe even modric or bale. If we're going to throw a rumoured thirty million at gaitan i'd rather spend that sort of money on any of those. Or if non are available then leave it in the bank or buy a striker rather than gaitan. He's average, nowhere near united class. Whats he done in the champions league this season? The only reason we're getting linked with him is cos his agent is fergie's mate and stands to do well out of it. And regards ashley young i, along with a few others on here said back in the summer that young wasn't good enough for united. So he played alright for about four games. Waste of money.
