Sir Alex at Stoke v Palace game tonight with bbc reporter suggesting deal for Zaha to be completed within the next few days.. seeing as we don't play either anytime soon then maybe this is to be believed.

Zaha has gone off at half time. Is he injured? If he is then this could ruin any potential deal.

not if we loan him back

Agree1 Disagree0

A run of the mill injury is unlikely to ruin a deal. I watched something the other day and the bloke said Palace players were purposely not passing to Zaha. Preparing with life without him or do some not agree with him leaving them mid-season? Perhaps Zaha was taken off because he was being frozen out of the game again?

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree2

Zaha was very effective Syd.... Won a penalty and was causing a solid defence problems.... It is either a knock or Fergie perhaps had an influence about him only lasting 45 minutes and a deal was struck?

Agree1 Disagree0

If that is the case Syd then I image it would be in Palace'S interests to sell and not have him back on loan.

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe people might start changing their minds? Stoke away isn't an easy game by any means and is a tough defence to play against and Zaha did well. I think in a better team with better players around him he could do very well. Have him for cover for Valencia and train him up to replace him as we move to a fluid style. Then we just need a big signing to replace nani and sort the left out. Maybe we could sell both nani and young and buy ince and another?

Rumours are circulating that SAF is at the Stoke vs Crystal Palace game to watch Zaha and tie up the deal after the match.
I didn't read too much into it as the source isn't very reliable and also fell for the Zaha spoof tweet but can anyone confirm if Ferguson is there?

Has anyone seen any pictures of Rooney yet in training yesterday? A friend of mine has said he is looking very very slim. Has anyone any links to some pictures so I can take a look for myself?

Would be nice to have a slim Rooney again, his best performances have come when he is slim.

Pictures of Wayne Rooney back in training

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2260727/Wayne-Rooney-training-Manchester-United-ahead-Liverpool-clash.html

Rooney's a good 10 pounds lighter but he still has an extra 10

Mick

Agree1 Disagree1

Rooney is looking fit isn't he? On another note Vidic has lost weight which isn't a good thing. A few protein shakes for him methinks.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Sydney, I guess supplements is not your thing. Protein shakes are more helpful to people trying to either lose weight or to change the fat into muscles.

What Vidic needs, is weight gainers, high calorie shakes. And he can get some to De Gea and Kagawa.

Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Mick, weight gaining supplements are very high in protein. protein is what builds muscle. It's also impossible to turn fatty tissue into muscle mate. You can reduce the fatty tissue and then build up your muscles, but you cannot turn fat into muscle, not literally.

But you know what I meant anyway, Vida looks slimmer ;)

I've had a few days to think about the game on Sunday. Firstly I'm delighted with the 3 points as that's the most important thing ultimately at the end of the day. A little bit disappointed that we took our foot off the pedal and let Liverpool back in the game but we did well to hang on. Now to the de gea situation. I like many don't think he was to blame for the goal as it was rafa who was slow to react. It was a phenomenal save and even big Pete himself said this on motd. We won't sell him and I really do like him a lot there is something about him that seems grateful to have the opportunity to play for us. Lets be honest takes guts and desire to move to England at the age of 20 odd. Now onto rafa. What can I say ? Sensational player on sensational form. Going to be real special player won't be long before real and barca coming knocking on the door but I think he will stay he said he wants to for the next 10 years. Glad to see vidic and rio back together and they had Suarez all day long. Vidic looks to be reclaiming some of that old form which is crucial with Madrid around the corner. Evra has entertained me so much this season ! His attacking play has been incredible and his defence has improved of late. He lives united and you can see that when he plays. A real leader on the pitch and the goal scoring ability has added a new dimension to the game. Carrick has been inspirational this season and its refreshing to see him get the recognition he deserves. All our attacks started from him and his relationship with cleverly seems to be blossoming. Cleverly impressed me a lot aswell with his positive runs and excellent link up play with the impressive kagawa. Progressing every game. Kagawa for me was very impressive in his link up play and close control of the ball. We really do have a gem on our hands and he will come good I have every belief he will. He is the kinda of player we don't usually sign. He's technically superb, excellent vision and slick one touch passing and link up play. He will be out mata or silva I'm sure of it. Young looked ok before his injury however Valencia sadly looked like his poor run is still continuing. Which is such a shame because he was brilliant last year. I hope he kicks on and regains the form because he is integral. Rvp what can I say ? World class. Enough said. For the first time in years we are able to win and play comfortably without relying so heavily on Rooney. Welbeck was a nuisance for the Liverpool defence and although his finishing is poor, he did give his all. The jury is still out on him so we will see but I would have preferred to see Hernandez start. Great to see Anderson back on the bench ! He really is one of my favourite players and hope he regains that form we saw before his injury. Nani I believe will be another crucial addition for the run in and cl. I think he is the sorta player who can make something of nothing. Only time will tell but we have this amazing never die mentality and that make us such an amazing squad. I'm so proud to support united.

Nice post. With regards to Valencia, is he still suffering from that unknown injury that no one could work out what it was? If so and it's still causing pain, that might explain his dip in form. I agree with everything you say about Kagawa, so neat and tidy with the ball, but I'm getting annoyed that he's not being played in CM where he can really influence a game.

This has to be the first time for a while that I remember the FA overturning a red card. Just so happens that City would only have two CBs left if the card had stood. City pulling strings?

Fresh!

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Although the challenge wasn't as bad as some are, it was still a two-footed lunge and the FA would stand by the ref nine times out of ten. This is an odd decision as it was two-footed and the there was plenty of contact. Usually a red card is overturned when it's a case of mistaken identity or there is video evidence that there was zero contact. This is a strange decision, albeit not very surprising.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree1

It was a great tackle nothing wrong with at all hansen made a great point for once! if that's a red card then tackling should be taken out of the sport its a game we all love no matter who we support the fa have seen common sense shame the ref on the day didn't and ruined a good gsme or what should of been a great game! cjwales82

Agree5 Disagree6

To be fair they overturned 2 red cards a couple of weeks ago after the West Ham vs Everton game and have overturned a couple of others recently too. I'm not convinced this has anything to do with City 'pulling the strings'.

TK-Red

Agree6 Disagree0

Agree with Sydney. By the letter of the law it was a red card.

Fresh!

Agree3 Disagree1

Bernstein strikes again!

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree with TK-Red I've noticed them overturning a couple this season, probably as a reaction to the load of controversy there was last year when they seemed to be backing the referees as far as poss.

Gav

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't like city but it was a good challenge and I'd be p1ssed if it was was one of our top players sent off and banned for a cracking tackle. I for one want English football to keep its identity and intensity no matter if that means city have their best player available. We all want to win fair anyway, who wants to gain points on another team because of poor refereeing?

Snakey

Agree3 Disagree1

I thought it was a sensational tackle to be honest (as much as I want Kompany banned).

Agree3 Disagree1

TK, didn't both players stay on their feet in the WHU & Everton game?

Don't get me wrong I thought Kompany's red was slightly harsh at the time, but it did tick most of the boxes for a red card by the letter of the law. With it being down to the ref's discretion it was strange that it was overturned and that they never stood by the referee.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its a joke!! Ask yourself was it 50-50? If yes, why does kompany A. Feel the need yo go to ground B. Why does he have to reach, therefore lunging and risking a player getting an injury? Its a stonewall red and imo should if been upheld!
Chris the REDman

Agree0 Disagree3

Sydney have you actually seen the challenge when kompany made contact with the ball his left leg was not extended therefore not two footed as is clear in most pictures in the media however much you hate city you can't just make things up

Agree3 Disagree0

In real-time speed (not slowed down), the challenge looks rough. Sometimes when it's slowed down it takes away the true aggression of the challenge. It was a tasty challenge and he lunged in with two feet. He never had to go to ground, you have to ask why he decided to.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree3

Syd were do you get this two footed thing from when he makes contact with the ball his left leg is bent backwards again you can't just make things up please watch it again before you reply and take off the red tinted glasses

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd! you're right in saying both players in the West Ham/Everton game stayed on their feet but what I mean't was that the FA seem to be taking a new approach to appeals this season. In the past an appeal was a waste of time and a sure fire way to get a ban extended but this season they seem to be bowing to public opinion and rescinding cards left, right and centre so I'm not at all surprised they have done so on this occasion. If this had happened last season or before then I would be questioning Bernstein's role myself but on this occasion I think it is just a sign of a new approach to things by the suits at the FA.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the same fa and bernstein who appealed wayne Rodney's red card for deliberately kicking an opponent in the arse cos he got the ball taken off of him, on the grounds that he accepted the red card, the same fa and Bernstein who didn't punish rvp when he deliberately elbowed cabaye in the head, the same fa and Bernstein who refused to punish fergie for mouthing off to mike dein against Newcastle but punished Mancini and pardew for similar offences!! see where I'm going with this, cut all the crap, kompany's tackle wasn't a red card now get over it, Sergio {Ed004's Note - The same Fa that made up a rule to ban Rooney from a match against city? The referee has came out and said fergie didn't say anything abusive or that crossed a line so don't see the argument there? Rooney was playing for England not united at the time HUGE difference and pretty sure ref saw RVP incident so he couldn't have been punished not sure about that though? What about the number of times I've heard a city player swear in an interview and nothing happens Rooney does it after scoring and a camera is shoved down his neck and gets banned}

Agree0 Disagree0

It was never a red card and some of us went on to say that immidiately after the game and that the suspension would be rescinded.

I think it is good to be a die hard supporter but always keep some balance in how you look at things :)

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004, just to add to that Ex-referee Mike Riley said that the FA purposely told Mason what to write word for word so that they could make a case against Rooney to ban him.

Sydney! {Ed004's Note - Interesting didnt know that}

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it was a red card and I made that clear by saying I thought it was slightly harsh when I seen it, my point was the FA usually back the referee, especially because it was a feisty challenge. They usually do not get rescinded. If you watch it in real-time speed (not slowed down) you can see it was a feisty challenge. Refs will usually get backing from the FA in these instances.

Sydney!

Several stories going around today that could affect our squad. Firstly, Sneijder, as much as I hate this saga, he looks like he is going to turn down Galatassary - if talks have taken place and he is being pushed to sign then surely they are just waiting for him to sign? Atletico allegidly want Chicharito, if this happens does it mean that we sign Lewandowski to replace him?

Also, we are meant to be on the lookout for a winger & Di Maria has been slated by Mourinho. Mourinho said that since Di Maria has been on higher wages he is not playing well. Could he be a target?

Lastly, apparently Zaha will be talking to Arsenal and Man Utd, so, who will he choose? The fee's seem so here and there, who knows what is going on!

Lots of interesting things to consider!

Ports

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Not surprised really, plus it was a good tackle IMO.

Jono

Agree5 Disagree2

Although I agree it was probably the right decision, the speed in which this issue was sorted suprises me alittle. I get the feeling if it was a United player then this would have dragged on all week, and there would have had to been a hearing. I think it does help having someone looking out for you upstairs.

Shappy

Agree7 Disagree1

Was hoping it wouldn't get turned over as City could struggle without him, but you have to admit it was a good challenge so probably a fair result.

Gav

Agree3 Disagree1

Agree, was a good tackle but plenty of good tackles not been overturned. They've set a president now! You think had it of been RVP it would have been overturned?

Ports

Agree5 Disagree1

Ports, a few have been overturned this season. If this happened last season, I don't think it would have been overturned. The FA seem to have change their tact on the matter IMO.

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes

Snakey

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav,

Appreciate that, but it is the type of challenge, these lunging forward ones. I do think it was a good tackle however it is these ones they wanted to stop, Gibson's and Cole's in the West Ham v Everton game were nothing tackles really.

I've said before on here, City have been lucky with Bernstein. He's a self confessed City fan, I have seen up roar that Gill is involved with the FA but nothing about Bernstein. Surely at that level of the FA they need impartiality!

Come on England, get Dhoni out and the game's ours for the taking.

Ed002, is it true Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Zaha over recent days? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I am not sure how "stepped up" would manifest itself Syd. Crystal Palace will look to hold on to Zaha until the summer and if they get promoted perhaps after that. He was to be allowed to move this past summer at the right price with Sunderland, West Ham and Reading look possible destinations. Liverpool have certainly looked at Zaha in the past but there has been strong recent interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs (as an alternate to an expensive Willian perhaps). Game time will no doubt be a factor in the short-term. Arsenal will probably ease off on interest if and when Walcott signs a new deal.}}

Mumbai, this ODI will be difficult without Anderson, Swann & Broad, it's out second string bowling attack out there today. I think they would have shaved off 30 points. Agree4 Disagree2

The boy oozes class and is talented as hell, but he is a bit overrated. He is not as good as Goetze and Neymar, but I would say he is equal to Hazard and better than Oscar.

Mick

Agree1 Disagree0

I am sorry Mick but as much as I hate to say it Hazard is a very special player..... He is one of maybe 3 or 4 that will be the 'Messi/Ronaldo' of his kind of age....Imo Neymar, Hazard, Rodriguez and Gotze are miles ahead of anyone around their age potential wise and maybe current abilily too.

Agree0 Disagree0

If what is reported is true, it would be very disappointing that we sat on our arse and watched it happen unless the club is going after Rodriguez in the sumer. Chelsea is building a team that can dominate for many years to come and scary good when you think about the guys they have on loan that potentially will come back better and seasoned players.

i'm torn on sneijder. A couple of years back he was one of the best in the world, and i'm sure he'd do a good job. Form is temporary but class is permanent and all that. But his wage demands and general attitude put me off, he seems the opposite of van persie personality wise. Do we need a mercenary type player who could upset the dressing room dynamic? But do we really know the full story? I wouldn't believe the media on most things. Usually the only truth in a newspaper is the date on the front. Also how would he fit in the team? His favoured position is in the hole but we have rooney and kagawa for that. He also favours inside left but again we have kagawa. Its been suggested we could play him deeper but not sure if that would suit him. Might work in a midfield three. As i say i'm torn.

Iniesta is one of the best players of his generation so i don't think many players will get close to his level, look at the likes of cesc and thiago good players but not at iniesta's level. I think he's better than gibson though but i always thought gibson was poorly treated by some fans who are now doing the same to cleverley and welbeck. I'll settle for cleverley as he is, and making improvements. He's doing something right as both ferguson and hodgson rate him and neither of them are bad judge of players after all. He won't make iniesta level but should make the level below.

Agree3 Disagree1

He's already better than Gibson, hence why he is playing regularly in a winning midfield at the top of the premier league. Gibson was never good enough to hold down a place. He won't get anywhere near the level of iniesta but I must say I am really enjoying watching Tom play at moment, his movement is phenomenal, especially for the first 60 minutes. This run of games can hopefully turn that into a full 90 minutes.

I'm surprised to see people on here talking of selling Welbeck, he's not the finished article but he has potential. His pace and willingness to to work hard pulls defenders all over the place, he always gets on with his job with a smile on his face and his attitude, like Hernandez, is exemplary. Some fans will never be happy, they want youth to be played, top foreign signings to replace anyone out of form and then they get a young local getting MOTM concurrently and still want him gone.
I think if he had been bought for a lot of money, a la De Gea, his potential would be defended stoutly. Welbecks finishing will improve, give him time.

Anyone remember Manchester city wonder kid Michael Johnson? Well have you seen him now he's a mess, overweight career over. Man city have ruined another good young player.

Caolán.

Cant always blame the club mate. he did that to himself

he was constantly injured so its his own fault if he porked up. Not sure how city can be blamed, he got injured they replaced him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Just worked out the lad will make 6.5 million pounds from city by the time his contract is up. Reckon I would be fat if I got that much money for doing nothing!

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

They also messed up Jamie tandys career after joey Barton put a cigar out in his face! Another one is Leon mike. Joe royal went to his house and spoke with his dad about a contract. He told Leon that he'd take care of him. He got the sack and then Kevin keegan sold him to Aberdeen as a young lad. Wrecked his career!

Agree4 Disagree0

Caolan what's with you and juvenile statements? Did it ever occur to you that the player should take responsibility for his own weight given his is a profesional athlete with access to nutrition, fitness and diet experts.

IrishRed

Well he won't anymore as he has been released. The lad needs to get himself back into shape and sort his career out as although its not too late, his money won't last forever.

Irishred,

Caolan has said in the past how young he is, maybe cut him some slack as some of his posts do come across very juvenile.

He changed a lot, all through school his dad put a lot of pressure on him, constant weight training and protein shakes at 11/12 is no good, I blame him for his injuries, he left in year 8 to join feyenord, but then came bk but I remember we had juventus and Barcelona scouts come to our school trying to sign him. He was class, I kno Danny Simpson really well too and growing up I would of expected him to be the one who through it all away but I was wrong. Anyway I think johnno had as much potential as the likes of Cleverley and Wiltshire but as soon as he got injured he basicly had too much money to do nothing with and ended up boozing a lot, it's crazy how much weight he has put on considering how in shape he used to b. it's a shame

I don't know about the rest of you but it is bloody freezing in Manchester so I thought I would warm you up with this lovely little stat:
It is well known that any side that goes in at half-time trailing at Old Trafford has a mountain to climb in order to come back and win.
But it may surprise you that it's been nearly three decades since a side managed to fight back and take away all three points.
Through not only the post-1992 Premier League era but Sir Alex Ferguson's whole time in charge, Manchester United have always gone on to either win or draw at home in the league if they're leading at the interval.
The last time it happened was on May 7, 1984, when Ipswich Town fought back from a first-half Mark Hughes strike to win 2-1, thanks to goals from Mich D'Avray and Alan Sunderland.
I AM KLOOT {Ed004's Note - I read that to Kloot it is a very impressing stat}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

If that isn't a good enough reason for United to come out of the blocks early from the first whistle and get a lead, then what is? If we could start games like we finish them when looking for a goal, then we would be very difficult to beat at home.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree1

Good to see you're in good form KLOOT despite the Manchester weather and very good stat indeed. If it's any consolation it's baking in Western Australia, must be over 30 degrees and it's 8.39pm.

Just seen a article claiming we are interested in Di Maria. Can play left or right but mainly left. Would the eds/anyone know if he'd be available? Certainly if the rumours about Bale are true then it could have an elem t of truth to it.

Supasub

Believable1 Unbelievable5

I think he is very similar to Ashley Young and I think what we really need is a more technical player like Isco, Rodriguez or Moura (who we wanted).

Sydney! {Ed004's Note - Or Gotze}

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd agree Syd/Ed my preference would be better technical ability like the players you mention. However, I'm not convinced the manager sees us moving away from wingers. I hope I'm wrong.

Gav {Ed004's Note - I think over the past while we have been seeing glimpses of the football are club could start to be implementing. You heard the praise RVP was speaking about after the goal he scored. I personally think we are 3 maybe 4 players away from having a phenomenal team. I reckon we need another cam for the right wing. The link up play over on Kagawa's side was brilliant between him Cleverley, Welbeck, Evra etc and I reckon we could strengthen are right hand side with the signing of someone like Ozil who doesn't seem happy at Madrid. Apparently he has spent the most time sat in the bench at Madrid so far this season. Could you imagine the football played between Ozil, Rooney, Kagawa and RVP. With support from maybe a midfield or two and a good left back. It would be outstanding}

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed004 that's exactly how I'd like to see us line up, think we'd be lethal in attack. Ozil would be one of my favourites too, particularly because he's left footed. Him cutting in off the right and Kagawa from the left would be tops with Rooney behind RVP. Add a top CM alongside Carrick and we'd look incredible.

My fear remains though that SAF doesn't quite see it the same. Many of us believe Nani is leaving, but if we move to this shape surely Valencia becomes almost redundant? So he would need to be sold too IMO. I just can't see that happening in one window, along with the other transfers we need.

When Kagawa signed I was convinced we were moving to a narrower 4231 but as the season's panned out I'm getting less confident. Saying that, it would be a good opportunity to try it out with Kagawa and Nani in the next few weeks, so we'll see what develops.

Gav {Ed004's Note - Yes I could see Valencia still playing a vital role. He would be needed against certain teams ie away games were we need to soak up pressure and break quickly with his speed etc}

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2013 18:20:42
valencia would accept a squad role and being on the bench and rotation. We'd also need a plan b. I think the one most at risk, after nani obviously, is young.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Ed4. The only way I'd see that happening personally is if it's for a transitionary period of say 1 season, whilst we switch systems. I think it's important we know our strongest lineup and shape. I'd be very happy if it does pan out the way you want.

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is better than Young, IMO..

If Barca and Real want De Gea why would we even think about selling him? He is obviously going to be one of the best keepers in the world?!?!?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Disagree there. spanish league seems a doddle for a gk

ms85

Agree1 Disagree1

So because barca and real allegedly want him that means he's gonna be one of the best in the world? I disagree, and the fact is currently he is not one of the best in the world currently he is nowhere near one of the best in the world! can we afford to wait for him to reach his 'potential' in what, 2 maybe 3 years time? he is clearly lacking confidence in my opinion and he's in a difficult situation because as a keeper you can't really afford to make many mistakes! every game he plays he will be scrutinised and unfortunately he does make a lot of mistakes and to say he is still young is not good enough, if that's the excuse then he should be loaned out for a year or 2 till he has enough expierience and confidence to command the penalty box which he clearly doesnt have right now! I feel sorry for him to be honest not just because of the standards set by previous great keepers at the club but also because of the level we are at as a club we have massive expectations and as a keeper coming to a club like ours you basically need to hit the ground running because there is nowhere to hide being a united no. 1 they and we as fans have put a massive amount of pressure on this kids shoulders and its a little unfair, I think he could've and should've been handled differently from day one. Sorry about the rant, just my opinion!

thanks,

I posted quite a large post awhile back analysing the options of signing Sneijder and yet again I am back talking about it haha. Now we can all agree he has extremely high wages, quite ridiculous by the sounds of it. Now personally I think if we could agree a certain wage package based on performances etc.. I reckon if he was signed he would add a lot to the team, now I would only sign him if he agreed to realistic wages, if he was in good physical shape after missing some time out and he agreed to working hard for the team.
Now I feel if we were to go for sneijder the best position we could play him atm would be as a part of a midfield 2 with Carrick offering him some help defensively. We all have witnessed what a world class signing such as RVP did for this team in the summer I reckon Sneijder could have the same impact on our midfield. Carrick has been inspirational at time and Sneijder is twice the player of Cleverley when it comes to passing and he has a very hard work rate like Cleverley. My only concern is that he isn't the best defensively so I am worried it may leave us open at the back so I would only play him in a midfield 2 against specific oposition and if Ed 2 is right about the interest in Bender I reckon a midfield 2 of Bender and Sneijder with Rooney helping them and Kagawa dropping into midfield from playing out left and a right sided player similar to Kagawa signed and we could be onto something special. However, in saying that, I stress, I would only go for the man if he lowered his wages and he isn't fighting with RVP.
The Red Manc

Believable4 Unbelievable1

So after praising Carrick as inspirational, you will drop him for a Bender and Sneijder combo?

I would love Sneijder an United, but I think his time has passed. Putting aside his wages etc, his preferred position is behind a lone striker or inside left, and we have just signed Kagawa to play that exact position. Rooney is also capable of playing these positions so there would be no room in the team for him at present.

Bender or Strootman, or someone in that mould would be better, as we need a bit of steal in the middle. Again however, this would probably come at the expense of Carrick or Cleverly, unless there is a formation change to accomodate all of them.

Squeezing another midfielder into the team / formation change will also effect our wider players

So there is a lot to consider before buying Sneijder. Though 8m and the right wage deal is a steal if, and that is a big IF he can be slotted into the team.

RedDub

Agree2 Disagree0

No I wouldn't drop Carrick as soon as Bender or if Bender signed. We will have Scholes retiring, we will have to replace Fletcher and Giggs. So I think midfield options of Bender, Carrick, Cleverley, Sneijder and Anderson is very good options to have. There are quite a few possible combinations there and you will need different ones for different games.
I don't think by signing Sneijder that we would be changing our system too much, we would just be swapping him for Cleverley and this would reduce the expectations on Cleverley and he is bound to learn something from him. Carrick would still play a very important role but Carrick isn't getting any younger and I'm sure Bender could learn something from Carrick so it would help with the gradual transition in the midfield.
Also I feel ferguson is moving to a more fluid formation hence the interest in Moura and Hazard...

wingers in the traditional sense are dying out. Nani could be gone, Young still has question marks over him. And Valencia is massively out of form. I don't see any of the three still being here by 2015. I think we'll move to a 433 in a lot of games with a 4312 in others. A midfield three from carrick, Cleverley, anderson with strootman and one other brought in gives us plenty of options. The forwards would need a little work as we replace nani and phase out young and valencia. Zaha and isco would be good signings for this.

Just been doing some thinking, With SAF always going on about value for money in the winter transfer window, I can't see how you could get much better value for around £30,000,000 Than Zaha £13m, Sneijder £8m and Wanyama £9m. These signing would shore the squad up for at least the next couple years without much more money being spent on any other area'as of the squad. I know its a long shot but I think for £30 million those 3 would represent value for money. Especially as Citehh splashed out £26M on the very average James Milner who isn't as good a player as any of the 3 mentioned above.

TomJP

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Sneijder on a four-year deal would cost the club around £60m. His fee was never the issue, only his wage demands. I imagine Wanyama would cost more than that.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree2

How is Milner very average?
Sneijder is the only player mentioned better than Milner, his attitude stinks and would cost a shed load more in wages. Do you seriously think Zaha is a better play than Milner?

snakey

Agree1 Disagree4

Milner is very very overrated, he runs a lot but has no real quality other than that a bit like welbeck. 100% effort doesnt mean a good player. if we had a team of players that ran and ran for 90 mins but didn't have much quality then we would be rubbish, you need both to be a trully quality player. The price that was paid for him was way over the top but that can't be blamed on him.

I thought it was dreadful, like reading something a child would write. The most popular theory is that it is Dave Kitson but Danny Murphy is also talked about.

IrishRed

Agree3 Disagree0

Kitson, Kevin Davies, Danny Murphy, Kevin Nolan, a few names that sprung to mind at times.

I enjoyed it, but.....

At the start of the book, he says he made it his goal to NEVER turn out like the washed-up, bitter old pros.

But by the final chapter, he's moaning about "I should've won more, I could've earned more, I deserved this, that....."

He's turned into one of the bitter old pros, even if he does speak the truth.
