Ed002, if you have time could you give us an update on outgoings IE Nani, Anderson, Fabio, Zaha and anyone else. Also are there any further developments regarding MU targets. Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Maybe Friday Syd - remind me. I'll chase things up to see if I can find some hot snippets.}

I'm curious to know how ed002 knows so much.
I'm going to guess he's either a journalist or an agent lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You didn't even get her sex right!}

Other Eds have said "he" when referring to ed002.?

Maybe it's both lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They haven't seen what I've seen... ;)

Ed002, thanks I appreciate that. With RM trying to strike a deal for Moreno, Coentrao has to be a likely signing for us now doesn't he? Would you expect it to be a loan with a view to a permanent deal? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect the timescales are still unclear Syd as Real Madrid do not want to pay the full price for Moreno and that could drag things out. I understand they would like the player to help force a move from his end. All of this could happen in the summer. Coentrao remains a "perhaps" in the meantime.}

JK92, perhaps some sort of freelance finance administrator? I really do not have a clue.

Coentrao just got sent off if anyone's interested, other than that he's had an ok game I guess

FAO ED04,

Ed,

As an editor of this site you get Carte Blanche to do as you will and say what you like in relation to posts submitted, obviously with some restrictions on really saying what you want to say on occasion.

Now earlier you commented on one of my posts and also mentioned me on one from Valley Gooner, using on both occasions the term bitter.

Now you can I'm sure look through any or all of my posts and perhaps you could enlighten me as what you perceive to be bitter. As a Chelsea fan I have zero to be bitter about. Roman saved my club from Christ knows what and through his love of football has brought us more Trophies over his term than Sir Alex has brought to United in that time. So being bitter doesn't add up. I might not agree with everything he does but Chelsea is my club, end of.

Now on the other hand reading your page over the last 6 months and seeing so much coming back to bite you boys in the ass is a beautiful thing and I have made the most of that. You may recall that I'm a fan of cut and paste; I'm sure if not Brendan81 will remind you.

So what I have had the great pleasure in doing over the last few months is saving a lot of the gems posted on here from a variety of posters then cobbling them together and reposting with the wording changed slightly so it's not so obvious. Maybe at the end of each I should have given a list of credits. Lol.

Thus you gentlemen then lay into me slagging what you've already said yourselves, or you ignore the relevant points and simply pick up on your clubs history, I'm classless etc etc. It really is as simple as that and to see so many things come back to haunt you guys is I have to say bloody fantastic.

It was only in the summer it was all City have wasted £90 million on crap players, oh no they haven't have they, Sydney! And his fantastic predictions, CTR and his belief he is the king of all posters and the world's greatest speller.

I mean, never in my wildest dreams did I think you'd be struggling to make top six no matter how poor your squad really is. That was another gem of Syds! Agreed with by many of this strongest squad bollox or that your squad was better than Arsenal's but they were just playing better.

Simple truth is you guys have dished it out over many of the pages, where are Sydney! and CTR on the Liverpool page now. Nowhere.

I do have to be honest and say you have some great posters on here, genuine fans who are honest, say it like it is and don't get wrapped up in the cr4p, Johndenton, Danny Pughunited, Mick, Peashooter, Nomidfield, Deeps, redseven, Honeybadger, Shappy and many others, I'll even include AJH although he painfully missed the stats post. Another thing you guys love to use when it suits and I've had great fun with.

I don't think for a minute that United won't come back but whilst you're down people are going to give you some stick. Like Ed02 has said to many on here, Suck it up!

So don't make the mistake of thinking I'm bitter, not an ounce of it, just making hay whilst the sun shines.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Bitter can be described as 'Resulting from or expressive of severe grief, anguish, or disappointment'. The fact that you relish in trying to put utd fans down while their team is performing badly IMO shows how disappointed you were in the achievements of your team last year and the grief amongst Chelsea fans that are throwing hundreds of millions around they could only achieve 3rd in the league. Ask Ed 2 have showed signs of doubting Moyes but I still 100% support him and feel we will get through this hard time and will come back stronger. I think now shows what fans truly are bitter of utds success by the way they come onto this site now and try to take pride or a sense of achievement from us struggling. I've never called anyone bitter who has delivered a balanced argument or had a civilised discussion about utd or other clubs ie banter. However, since you looked back at Brendan former posts
"mean seriously, you lot or Bayern Munich. You really need a reallity check and I've got a great feeling "this is your year" to get it!

David Moyes. That is a beautiful thing!"
And
"Having blocked attempts to safe guard Old Trafford, when they sell it where do you imagine the Glazers will put the new stadium.

I would think further south to be honest to save all that travelling. Do you guys remember when we battered you up at Old Trafford at the end of last season and all you lot were leaving early and we were singing, "Race you back to London""
Now how do those not stink of a fan who is bitter? They offer no constructive criticism, they offer no banter, they are just petty digs to get a reaction}

Tssss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep you're right, you don't sound bitter at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Worst case of PMT I've ever seen, Marcellus.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow this guy has issues lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know about being bitter but he must be one of the creepiest posters I have ever came across! His folks must have blocked the naughty sites so he has nothing else to do after school:

'So what I have had the great pleasure in doing over the last few months is saving a lot of the gems posted on here from a variety of posters then cobbling them together and reposting with the wording changed slightly so it's not so obvious. Maybe at the end of each I should have given a list of credits. Lol.'

What normal person does stuff like that?}

Wow, what a ride. must of been so fun.

I bet you went through a lot of tissues when editing your months worth of posts you've been saving.

You're a very sad, disturbed individual. with way too much time (among other things) on your hands.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've locked the doors and checked Ed002's chastity belt is secure, we're safe for now.}

You have too much time on your hands. you're likely reading this in your dark room as you hang old posts from Sydney up to dry. stalker

Agree0 Disagree0

Marcellus, can't believe you took time out of your day to write that pile of crap

Agree0 Disagree0

Re worded what this really says is '' damn I've had a right couple of months here with my intelligence or lack of it being highlighted for all to see, I won't mention last friday when I announced my leaving after another mauling, so ill carefully pretend everything I have written is just a re-worded posts for u lot.'

Lol king of posters really? I have never claimed or acted like that, but the fact u come on here saying that gives us a litte insight into your bitter filled mind dnt u think?

Likewise I never really posted on the liverpool sight, not saying I ain't but never made it a habit to do so.

Im getting kind of worried now young chap, u seem to be stalking me and memorizing my posts.

Love love the way u still lobby others on here through either fear of being found out for what u are or maybe u dnt have many friends either is quite sad.

Although I could be totally wrong which would make your post even more embarrassing lol.

Gd bye mate we prob won't se u again for a while ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Bond,

Fantastic reply to possibly the most bitter post I have ever seen. I don't even think he will understand the irony behind anything he wrote either which makes it even better.

I read something the other day that said 'the only thing that annoys me about other clubs fans taking great success from united playing badly is that I wasn't more of a gloating tw*t over the last 20 years.' I don't 100% agree with this as I think quietly being on the higher ground is the best place to be, but it did make me smile.

I spoke to a Liverpool fan yesterday who said if they finished 5th and we finished 6th he would see it as a successful season, sums them up perfectly to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

My god I was joking in past posts about having a stalker, but now i'm genuinely scared :-) this guy is seriously weird. don't know about Marcellus Wallace, more like Chip Douglas in the film Cable Guy.

Wouldn't it be entertaining if, after being linked with all these exciting players like Vidal and Coentrao, we ended up with signing Vico Mannone. Could potentially sum up a whole season of expectation haha!

It's not often that I'll admit that I was wrong - but at the start of the summer when Negredo and Soldado came to the Premier League I said that neither were going to do anything special. Negredo obviously had other ideas. He's unrecognisable from the player he was two or three years ago.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You wouldn't believe Negredo and Soldado cost a similar amount. Spurs got the short end of the stick there I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Both player are top draw and always have been Soldado will come good I am shore as the saying goes form is temporary class is permanent

Agree0 Disagree0

Sold ado cost £10 mill more

Agree0 Disagree0

I a agree with katef, negredo looked like a epl player even when he was playing in Spain.
Soldado is also a very good play and I think will show that when he settles, may be next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Kate, Soldado is a good player and if he settles in England he will be a good player here too. Like Jred said Negredo was built for the EPL and has been put into a team that have gelled and are already settled. Some of the Spurs' signings look like the majority on MU players at the mo. They are struggling for confidence. The Spurs players are still trying to adapt and gel, and the MU players are still trying to adapt to a) the loss of SAF and b) Moyes' new policies.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Negredo is also benefitting from having some of the best and most creative players around him in PL. That team is fun to watch and hate to say it but can see them put 10 past someone if they are really on and the other team just gives up a little after the first few.

Anything new on the transfer targets ed probably answered before but it is January and new things could pop up at anytime

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Nothing}

15 Jan 2014 20:38:03
Do any of you really think that we are going to sign anyone? I personally don't see it, I know Moyes has been out scouting and sent his team out, but realistically January isn't a good time to buy, I can only think of one or two that this has worked for Saha did ok and the scums Suarez but he didn't hit the ground running either. What I think is Moyes needs to do is get the players he wants now to agree deals for the summer as the World Cup will inflate the prices even more. Hope I'm wrong and he does bring in some quality but just don't see it happening. But please make sure they are cm not the number ten role unless Rooney or Kagawa are going to leave.
On another note a friend of mine is a Wigan season ticket holder and he reckons Nick Powell has been class and one of the best youngsters he has seen at the club, better than McCarthy and Valencia and miles better than Cleverly! Hopefully when he comes back he will prove this and be a dynamic cm for us. We can live in hope.

Perhaps one signing we'd all like to see Woodward out Cortese in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would the Glazers get rid of Woodward? A glut of sponsorship deals and only one transfer in, he's excelling in his job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thumbs upto that

Agree0 Disagree0

Give the guy a chance to grow into the job ps SAF has no blind spot just stubbornness

Apparently spurs have bid for ribeiro. Now I have no idea how good he is, but if he is good enough for united I certainly hope we give him a go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The jury is still out on him. He has certainly set the brazilian league on fire, and was the best player out there by a milestone, but it's still the brazilian league

Any development on Mata proven premier league player he has to lookin 4 a way out of the Chelsea bench this being a world cup year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I can see him being loaned out somewhere in Europe. A little surprised Chelsea aren't keen to lend him to us tbh. I don't think we are a threat to them domestically and so a loan move to United would increase the likelihood we would take points from City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton as well as improving his fitness and form (which is obviously good for Chelsea).

I'd like to thank the people who joined me in the ritual 'we're in for Snidjer' post on the transfer page. Worryingly, despite it being obvious we were taking the Mickey, someone then posted it as a genuine rumour. To be fair, it is the gift that keeps on giving. Can someone remind me who had the original 'spell his bloody name right' post?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that would be me :)

Anyone else think we should just cut our losses on Fellini and sell him now reckon we could get 15 million but if he stays his value will depreciate and he will turn into a useless squad player. Nowhere near Manchester United quality despite our weak midfield and especially if we get a decent midfielder in this month he will be way down the pecking order. I know he's been injured but in the games he's played he's looked slow, shown little threat going forwards and proved that apart from heading he has no decent aspects to his game. Wouldn't get back into the everton midfield now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why because he hasn't performed in his 5 starts? Your talking out your arse bud, he Hasn't been given a fair crack, I remember loads saying the same about Fletcher, Carrick and Evra at the start of their mufc! Give him a full season and pre-season first then judge him. He absolutely battered us and allot of other teams over the past 3 seasons. Also starts every time for Belgium so can't be that bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2014 19:30:24
Wow. Or B. We let the guy settle in and Give him a chance in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

No we should nt just sell him. That would be silly. We d look stupid. And after our embarassing summer transfer moves that's somthing we could do with out. Either way in all fairness he has nt had much of a chance yet. He deserves more time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like us to sign a multi million sponsorship with Walmart (asda) and to cement the deal give Fellaini away with a £20 quid shop.

Agree0 Disagree0

One of two things needs to happen for Fellaini to succeed at United. Either he changes his style of play or Moyes changes ours. I pray it's the former.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tucker said it for me what a stupid post

Agree0 Disagree0

Alrite maybe a little drastic on my behalf nd maybe we should give him time but I think his best position is off the front but if we play him there we promote the long ball and he does not have he guile to play number 10 for United

Ibrahimovic to Klopp.

"When are you bringing me to Dortmund?" Ibrahimovic asked Klopp in front of the television cameras.

"I would have to sell the whole team first, " replied Klopp, only for the PSG striker to stress that he would happily make some sacrifices to join Dortmund.

"No, I will come to Dortmund for free."

"You are coming for free?" asked Klopp before turning to the cameras to have Ibrahimovic's comments confirmed: "Did you hear that?"

The 32-year-old attacker repeated his promise and joked that he hoped PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi wasn't watching the interview.

"I will come for free to Dortmund. This conversation is not for the PSG president."

If h had seen Moyes he wouldn't of had a clue who he is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And what has that got to do with anything. Ibra knows klopp. Do you think ibra will ever go to b.d. And offer them a good deal cause he knows or likes klopp. Ibra is prob the biggest mercenary in the game. So what if he does nt know moyes. he'd get to know him if we offered him bigger wages than his already on. Did anyone outside britain know ferguson when he took over. I bet they all do now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie won the european cup. i'm sure most of Europe knew who he was.

The point is, we have the best players in the world but biggest mercenary in the game saying he'd play for Dortmund and Klopp for free.
If Moyes would have spoke to him about a move he wouldn't know who he is, never mind wanting to play for him. and with Moyes in-charge of the biggest club in the world it is slightly worrying.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was good, JK92, but not that good. It was the Cup Winners Cup.

It still didn't have his name on the tip of Europe's tongues though. In fact, even after this success, I'd dare say there were many in the UK who maybe recognised his name, but didn't know why.

Mind you, I was interested to see what Moyes would be attacked with today. Have to say, I wasn't expecting a conversation between a German manager and a Swedish player to be the weapon of choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't attacking him as such, Stevie.

i was just pointing out how much of a influence a manager could be.

Hi Eds,
Nani's odds of leaving us for SL have been cut by half today. This is encouraging surely as if he were depart and with Zaha more and more seemingly destined for a loan move, surely this is a big indication that we have lined up a wide man to replace them? Can't imagine us leaving ourselves short in the department?! What do you guys think?
Many thanks,

Odds have been shortened to most likely grab punters to have a go at it

Personally feel he will go to Juve as part of a swap deal for Vidal

I want MU to go out and spend £30m on Draxler like the next MU fan, but clubs do a lot of research before they commit to spending such vast amounts on foreign players. Especially clubs like MU that are self sufficient. I think Draxler would be a great buy and personally I think would be worth £30m due to his potential alone, but look what has happened with Lamela at Spurs. £30m spent and six months later he wants to join an Italian club on loan. The club didn't mind committing £30m to buy Fellaini as Moyes knows the player personally, but we need to get every transfer right from here onwards so plenty of homework will be done on targets to see if they will be a perfect fit at MU. Clubs like City and Chelsea can take more risks as they are not self sufficient and are bankrolled by billionaires. I hope we do not dither too much though as IMO one top signing in January could kickstart our campaign by giving the players a much needed lift.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lamela wants to leave because they've been reluctant to play him and he doesn't want to sit on the bench.

I'm aware that there is a team of people in place - but this is the same team of people who allowed our midfield to deteriorate to the extent that it has and has seen us miss out on some top top players over the past four or five seasons because they didn't want to drop a few extra million on agent fees.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post and I agree, Syd.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven, and why isn't Lamela playing? I agree with your second point to an extent, the money was there to buy midfielders, but SAF repeatedly opted to strengthen other positions. How much did Pjanic join Roma for? Defour and Witsel to Benfica? Cabaye from Lille? There were plenty of chances to strengthen the midfield, but SAF neglected it over and over again.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's abit harsh on lamela as no one including spurs expected Townsend to play like he has done this season, but they are not going to sell are they? I thought it was to go loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Tucker, no one is criticising Lamela. He's a good player, a player I would have liked to see at MU, but he hasn't settled well up til now. I wonder if Levy would pay £30m for him now? My point is the MU hierarchy could fund a big deal, but there's no guarantee that a player will settle or fit in well. Kagawa could be another example albeit he was pretty cheap. MU do not have unlimited funds so they will need to take great care when selecting the targets. Like Spurs and Arsenal, if we get it wrong we will have to pay the price. Teams like Chelsea and City can just loan out the players if they don't settle or turn out good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney - there are a lot of people asking that question. He hasn't been given a run in the first team to be able to prove himself either way. As mentioned - Townsend's form did not help Lamela.

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants a loan move because it is WC year, lots of players take time to adapt

Hate to interrupt transfer fever month :) but does anyone have an update on jones, fellaini, rvp, rooney, some facts instead of fiction would be highly appreciated :).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Already asked about Jones twice seems nobody knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I don't think any of them are too far away I think worst case scenario RVP is out for 4-5 weeks I reckon rest will all be back next 2-3 weeks. Rooney might be fit for Sunday rumours RVP will be too}

Hoping we play jones, Carrick and fletcher as midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 and play janusaj, valencia and rooney if fit as front 3. I think we would get enough cover in the middle plus enough threat going forward.

Valencia and rafael on the right should be good in terms of shutting down hazard who does most of the damage on that wing.

I hope we drop this 4231 as our players do not suit it and we are always one short in midfield and rooney or kagawa are not great defensively.

Banter please

Before I start I will just say that I know many of you will say "there is no room in football for sentiment", or words to that effect. But it would seem that many of you want us to throw money around like confetti, to just pay WHATEVER it takes to sign players. I agree we need to sign some top class players, and that will require paying big transfer fees and big wages, and to be fair United have always been prepared to pay the big wages. But do we want to rebuild the team with players who are here purely for the money? I certainly don't. This is where the "sentimental" bit comes in. The football world has gone crazy in recent seasons with the likes of Chelsea, City, PSG etc. I know we will have to spend big money, but this idea of spending whatever it takes is madness. The City's, Chelsea's on PSG are destroying the basic fibres of the game. If football carries on the way it is we will end up with only a relative few professional clubs left.
Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, a club of history and tradition. Clubs like United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barca, Madrid, Juventus, Bayern, the Milan clubs etc etc are the glamour clubs of world football. And it is a privilege for any player to play for teams like that. Yes, pay the money, but players should WANT to play for United. Not come here just for the money. If we build our team with players like that, we will never build for the future, because players like that, once signed, will just be looking for their next big move away.
Its not just a matter of signing players, we need to sign players that are right for the club. At the moment, every time another team is linked with a player, we seem to get an influx of posts on here asking "why aren't we interested in him", or "we should sign him ". The truth is, only David Moyes and the club know who our transfer targets are. Every transfer window we are linked with half the players in Europe, and most of it is down to lazy journalism and guess work. I know a lot of people don't like Moyes and think he is out of his depth. Time will tell if that is right or wrong, but the fact is he is the manager of Manchester United. He will, and I'm sure already has, identify the players he wants to bring in. let's hope the club and the owners support him in the transfer market, and we can bring in top players who WANT to play for United.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post mate but you have David Moyes now. More likely you will try and buy a championship player. I don't miss them days.

Agree0 Disagree0

For players it's a job, barce, Madrid Munich have just as much if not more pull than us . Players want to get paid and win trophies.
If you want to buy players who only want to play for United your not going to have much of a team.
Players will sign for United if the money is right

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - @Micky Blue Eyes - were did Martinez sign McCarthy from this summer? And the Barcelona kid who only made 2 appearances for them. Was basically signed from Spanish second division}

Personally I think any player that signs for United are signing for the "right" reasons.

Most probably when SAF was manager players would sign just to work with the man now I feel any player signing would be signing for the chance to pull on the shirt of one of the most prestigious clubs in world football and reap the benefits of everything that goes with that (everything took care of by the club, best medical care, training facilities etc etc.)

Of course they will be getting paid very well and that will of course be a big pull but definitely not the sole reason if its just money they are after well any player knows they can get the silly money from the sugar daddies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice post - but I'd argue that large transfer fees are dictated by the selling club and large wages a given for top top players these days.

It's all well and good saying that players should want to come to OT for the tradition - but teams like Liverpool, RM, Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus, Milan, etc all have rich histories. I would not expect any player to chose us over one of those teams if we were offering 20k/week less - no matter how much he wanted to play for the club.

It annoys me that players who push for high wages are labeled mercenaries. At the end of the day playing football is their job. Who here wouldn't jump ship if another company offered you a 50-100% pay rise to do exactly the same job?

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite right.

Bear in mind however that Moyes has been brought in because, as Ferguson often advised, the Glazers cannot or do not want to compete in the transfer market with the clubs with apparently unlimited funds. Clearly United's owners and Board, including Ferguson, believe Moyes can find value and bring out the best from players who will not be overpriced.

In my opinion the Glazers are running the club with the principle aim of making money, not winning trophies, even though there is a likely correlation between the former and the latter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004

Its DM moyes team and players that RM is winning with. Give him 3 or 4 years and he will turn them into Wigan, nice to look at always on the cusp of falling off the ridge:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven. I agree 100% with you. We tried to buy yaya toure and nasri and they chose city. Hazard chose chelsea over us. They surely did nt think city and chelsea were bigger more romantic clubs than mufc. No they went because they were offered more$$$$$.we might attract british players because of our name but most foreign players are only interested in the pay package.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its their agents who are causing problems! i'm a 20 year old superstar chelsea offer 100k a week munich offer 50k a week he says go with chelsea because they will also pay the 4m agents fee. See its easy to say to someone gullible enough to believe it that more wages equals happiness especially when u earn twice as much fee for that transfer. I honestly believe Pogbas agent scuppered us signing him long term because we wouldn't give him a cut. jus my opinion though

Agree0 Disagree0

We all want the class of 2014 to come through the academy and start taking the world by storm next season. Perfect scenario sadly with a team performing as ours has so far this year, and the end of last, it would take a manager with stones of iron to give them a start. If our team were defeating all before them it would be very easy to slowly introduce young players.

To quote you "let's hope the club and the owners support him in the transfer market" I wish and hope this too. All the evidence however points diametrically opposite . With an aging team, we have spent roughly 20m per year over the last 6 years similar figures to Aston Villa and Southampton. Man City 570m over the same period Chelsea 370m.
Everyone knows spending on this scale is unsustainable long term for us.

Where I strongly disagree, with whoever is handling our transfers, is if the player does not meet our evaluation we walk away. Especially when the sums involved are quite small in the bigger picture. We lose a minimum of 30m by not making CL, which 80 % of us on here i.e. our own fans don't think will happen.
My contention is to spend the 30m to make the deals happen now. We are strengthening our team, which has to happen anyway.

If we sign nobody this window I'd advocate a much slower rebuild with more players with potential and the odd top signing. Even that would not be affordable on 20m a year. Matuidi we may sign he is free in the summer but even for a deep lying playmaker 1 assist in 89 games one has to ask what play is he making.

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems to me that you see yourselves on a par with Eveton now ed. Enjoy it tho, because we will surpass you if you carry on stuttering in the transfer market.

If we are to believe DM's comments about it being very difficult to bring in the right players during the January transfer window as clubs don't want to sell during mid season as replacements are hard to find, why doesn't he buy in January and loan back for the remainder of the season, like we did with Zaha?

At least as fans we would see some light at the end of the tunnel and we would know that the club is addressing the weakness' in the squad.

This type of business would also get around a) Further price hikes for players who star at the world cup and b) The real possibility of not being able to attract the cream if we cannot offer ECL football.

Just a bit of food for thought!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great shout, especially as signing players while a W.C. is on is difficult at best

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Im not so sure. I think we need 6 players before next season and I think it's better if you bed in 2-3 in each window. Though in all fairness I wouldn't complain if tomorrow i woke up to Vidal signed and will move in summer}

Agree with Ed04 on this one. Too many new players joining at once will have an adverts affect on the pitch. Either we start next season still needing 3-4 players or we start with a first 11 who know nothing about laying with each other or for Manchester United and those that could teach them what that means (Evra, Giggs, Vidic, Ferdinand) will no longer be playing.

Ngiak any updates from your non footballing chaps? You mentioned we had two signings all but done I think, but nothing is seeming to be very close. Just wondered if your people had seen a change in circumstances? Cheers
Brendan81""
Dear mr brendan81
ngiak is quite certain his friends are seldom wrong
2 are just about done
Done at the back end usually means the price is settled between clubs and it's the player's turn to agree and thrash the details of the contract
And there could be a third brewing
Maybe that's why moyes has been traveling around?
But the lack of media coverage on the suspects is very puzzling to ngiak
It's never been this quiet before
And a whole stream of exits were supposedly planned
Ngiak quizzes the delays. Intuitively it would be best to settle things early?
Maybe ngiak thinks that's why so many players who are on the way out are not playing with their full potential
And the uncertainty may be a huge influence on the commitment on the field
Lots of turmoil and uncertainty off the field
It is ngiak's wish it's all done early
Anyone can further enlighten ngiak?

I posted yesterday and fishing clearly worked, god u lot can't take banter. Then u have a little hissy fit saying we were never in for draxler bla bla, now all I see is u lot pipping up saying oh yeah draxler be perfect he's got a buy out clause thinking u can actually sign him, he will be an arsenal player, he talks to ozil and mertesacker frequently. Not to mention he had a tour of training ground the other week, realise this. Moyes is inept at signing players for big money, look at Everton. Did buy anyone over 10m expect fellani. He has not got a clue what he is doing in the transfer market. Let's be real here. U have 2% chance of signing pogba or Vidal. Madrid will go in for Vidal if he was available. There's only 1 answer there, same with pogba. U need to stop being blinded by sucess and realise your not the so called biggest team in the world anymore.players will choose barca madrid bayern chelsea city maybe even arsenal now over you. U can have a go all u want at this post. Fact of the matter is it's true wether u like it or not.

So Julian draxler has a buyout clause, with arsenal being linked?. A top young talent who would only improve our squad, I don't believe united will sign anyone his month possibly a left back. I feel most off our business will be done during the summer

Although our squad needs improving and an overhaul I do believe we will make top 4, 5 points behind 4th place Liverpool, with the likes off Rooney rvp fellani jones still to return?. I believe one these boys are back united will kick on I still believe we will drop points along the way and maybe even lose a game, but it wouldn't be the united way if it wasn't done the hard way

MUFC

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately I don't believe we'd pay what's needed to sign Draxler and I actually think that he suits the way Arsenal play a lot more than he'd suit our game.

Agree0 Disagree0

This isn't new lads, we have always known about his clause. And it isn't only MU who haven't paid it to sign him. No club has met that £37m. Probably because clubs are still not convinced he is worth £37m, not yet anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see us spending that amount on draxler, somebody will though because he's a top young player

Agree0 Disagree0

I would presume that Schalke are trying to push a club into paying the release fee, or as close to it as possible, by drumming up a bit of interest. They know they'll lose him, so they may as well try to get as much as possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there's a deal to be done somewhere around the £30m mark (which based on some other transfers over the past few years is not too bad).

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure if we will buy or not in this window. Maybe bring in Coentrao if possible.
But I have seen reports saying that Liverpool are interested in bringing in Fernando from Porto. As I have mentioned before, he is a super player, nearly out of contract, and Porto are out of the Champions league. He is tough, good tackler, and can pass the ball and carry the ball forward. I think they are talking around £12m.
If he isn't "value" then I don't know what is. He will fit in our midfield with no problems at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Brilliant player very similar to Sandro, would be a great value for money signing

Agree0 Disagree0

It all depends what level we're aiming for. From what I've seen of Fernando he is nothing special. He's 26 years old and isn't really any better than he was when he was 22.

Would much rather we focused our attention on Gundogan/Vidal. There's probably about 20 other players I'd sooner we looked at as well as them before turning to Fernando.

Just to change the topic:

Who here thinks Rio Ferdinand can be a good manager?

- Played at a top top club for so long
- Was reliable and technically strong(bar last few years)
- Was always a big and fun loving figure in the dressing room
- No stranger to controversies

Not saying that we should appoint him but I see traits of a good manager in him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too flash for my liking

Agree0 Disagree0

Would probably do has half time team talk on twitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will walk away from football when his career is over. Lots of interests out side of football, just can't see him as a manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see him as a manager myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rio will probably want to pursue some of his media interests so I don't think he will go into management.
What we should do is appoint a director of football and a couple of representatives. This will help the club when talking to other players and in the media.
Rio would make a decent go as one of the representatives, players will respect him and sponsors will love him. Beckham would be better but Rio would do ok

Agree0 Disagree0

When Rio retires he's going to get a market stall selling his baseball caps.

I feel the reason we our seeing Moyes going to all these games to Scout player is to make us believe we are in the market to buy.
I really feel they are playing us.
WE WILL BUY NO ONE IN JAN SIMPLE!!
All you people that think we are need to wake up and face the reality that we are skint!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a ridiculous post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, its all a big conspiracy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bakes fooling fans wouldn't mean anything.

His job is in the hands of Glazers and I don't think he'll be fooling them because they are the one's who'll be sanctioning the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's certainly possible. As I've said before - I really don't see the logic in scouting players when they have just come back from a rather lengthly winter break.

The only reason I can see for doing so would be if a bid is imminent and Moyes just wanted to have a look for himself before rubber stamping it. As we don't seem to be doing too much in terms of January signings so far (In as much that we don't seem to have made any bids more than half way through the window) - I can't see a logical reason why these players are being scouted by Moyes himself at this time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not confident we will sign someone in Jan and I would think it possible that certain stories may be let out to appease fans, however, I don't believe for a minute that moyes has been travelling round Europe and attending games just to keep fans happy. Jeez, he must not value his own time if that were true.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not believing we are going to spend until we actually spend, if the money is there then it should have been spent this summer.

Saying that, while I firmly believe the club leaks certain links/rumours to appease the fans and ensure season ticket renewal. sending Moyes around Europe seems a bit too elaborate a ruse really.

Especially given we've got a ridiculously important game coming up in a few days.

Agree0 Disagree0

There will be some rebuilding to do over the next 18-24 months. Moyes will want to do his homework on them all before he decides who to buy. If any of the targets are available then I am sure the club will do business now, but it's unlikely they will be available. Moyes has said as much. I just hope we do not do all our homework, select our targets and then miss out on them in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2014 11:39:55
all our main transfer targets are reported as summer targets with no hope of a purchase in january.ie pogba vidal koke and costa. well that's not going to be good enough. Without some major signings in this window were not going to qualify for the c.l. and then come the summer who is going to want to join us without c.l. football. Its time for the club to push the boat out and pay a little over the odds. were ment to be the biggest club in the world. well let's show it. We have to stop the rot now. The summer could be to late.we need atleast one or two of our main targets now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, we also keep forgetting that its a world cup year, which also shortens the transfer window and can inflate prices to greater highs than what January can.

However I would counter this, in that the squad is not going to be changed in two windows, maybe 4 or 6 instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ohh for the love of God, if players aren't available (which they generally aren't in the January of a World Cup year), then they aren't available. These ''main'' transfer targets you mention are all heavily involved in their current sides' campaigns and most likely don't want to leave. I want signings as much as the next guy (and I must admit did think it would be better to sign just anyone this window, however I have changed my mind!)

Frankly I'm happy we appear to be working towards the summer, getting out contact made very early and hopefully this will translate to deals being made early in the summer (we've seen how that has benefited City). You want another panic buy like Fellaini so you can come on here again and complain how we should of gotten better? Double standards mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know why people keep saying Fellaini was a panic buy. Moyes pursued him all summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good point redseven. a lot of United fans try to make out that we paid over the odds for Fellaini because he was a last minute panic buy. That is just another nonsense story to make Moyes look bad. Once Moyes was appointed, it was widely expected that he would bring Fellaini with him given our need for midfielders. The club (Woodward) tried to get him on the cheap by letting his £23.5m buy-out clause lapse, thus hoping we could haggle the price down. That tactic backfired badly, and Everton instead put his price up, and we simply played the waiting game until deadline day, hoping that Everton would give in to us. It didn't work.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Andy!
Betty S, that is exactly the way I read the situation.
I really wish some supporters would get over their negative feelings towards Moyes. He isn't the one negotiating the deals!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy. What are you on about with your double standards. Its simple mate there's no point in waiting till the summer if we have nt qualified for the c.l. No one any good will want to come. Its not rocket science my friend. So you might as well rip up that transfer target list for the summer right now if we don't quaalify for the c.l. i'm not complaining for the sake of complaining. If you think we can wait till the summer and buy these targets without c.l. Football your sadly mistaken.you think if we bid £40 mill for vidal now juve would turn it down.right now his the best box to box mid fielder in the world. We d have no prob upping his wages. There out of the c.l. Now and has nothing to stay for. He d be here in the morning. Prob solved.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is it with people thinking we will only be able to attract the likes of Darren bent or Emile heskey if we finish outside the top 4 for the 1st time in our recent history? Crazy talk.

Spurs signed lamela, Eriksson, vertonghen, paulinho, soldado etc. Whilst outside the top 4 and having won nothing for donkeys years.

Arsenal signed ozil having struggled to finish top 4 and not won a trophy in 8 or 9 years.

Liverpool signed Suarez without any realistic chance of finishing top 4.

Chelsea have signed top players no matter what their league position nor who is their manager.

Some united fans are panicking like the world will end if we finish 5th or lower. It will not. Personally, still Hoping we can scrape 4th then build for the future during the next few windows.

Have a little faith people!

Agree0 Disagree0

HB - the calibre of players Spurs signed in the summer is lower than the calibre I'd like to see us looking at.

Arsenal have qualified for the Champions League group stages for something like 17 years on the bounce so regardless of their struggles I'd say they are always a safe bet (not to mention that when Ozil signed they were top of the league). Chelsea are also a safe bet for the Champions League and have been for seven years or so now.

What does support your point is the example of Manchester City three or four years ago when their owners first came in; but again - I'm struggling to think of any top top players that they signed in the first year (Robinho, I do not count) and those they did sign were for £5-£10m more than they were worth and paid 25% more than they'd expect to be paid anywhere else. The Glazers will never sanction us paying over the odds and so I worry about our chances of rebuilding if we don't make top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

HoneyBadger

Good point but the difference is those clubs were willing to spend money and offer big wages. Our behaviour since Moyes was appointed has suggested the opposite for us.

Quibbling and haggling over a few million or putting in derisory bids for players isn't what you'd expect of a club willing to fully back their new manager financially.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redseven "Arsenal have qualified for the Champions League group stages for something like 17 years on the bounce". And what have we been doing the last 17 years? Our pedigree in recent history is higher than a team who have failed to win a trophy for 9 years. Obviously ecl qualification matters but I don't see how having a blip this year will affect things too much. We won the league last year with almost the same squad, I think it will take longer than 1 season for us to lose all of our appeal (bearing in mind we have already struggled to sign the biggest names ahead of city, Chelsea, real, barca, Bayern in recent years so that will be nothing new). imo we should still be able to attract the players we need to improve (including 1 or 2 world class talents in pivotal positions).

Red sky, I agree we will need to spend as money talks these days. I guess we will have to wait and see but if they're willing to spend £27m on fellaini, who knows how much they'd be willing to spend on a genuine world class player ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgot to add, redseven, that you may not want us to be looking at the calibre of players that spurs went after this summer but hindsight is a great thing, most of this site was fawning over them as spurs were dishing out £20 or £30m a time! Btw this is more a comment on how fickle we can all be than directed at you personally, your point just brought it to my attention.

Agree0 Disagree0

My biggest fear is missing out on the top four and having to play in the Europa League. It would be great for the kids, but knowing Moyes he will probably play our strongest available and that will affect our chances of getting back into the top four the following year. Missing a year from the UCL will not make much of a difference. Agents and players will know it's a blip and thankfully they aren't as fickle as some on here. MU over the next few years will be making several hundred million as the revenue streams continue to expand, debt is lowering as are interest rates and agents will know all of this. A club that turns over £500m+ a year will not stay out of the top four for long.

Agree0 Disagree0

HB - the only player Spurs have signed in recent times that I'd have anywhere near United is Lamela. People on here do seem to want anyone and everyone - but given how poor we've been in the market and how desperately we need new players I think that's understandable.

Going back to the Arsenal quote - My point (albeit a rather poorly illuminated one) was that when Ozil signed for Arsenal he knew he would be playing in the Champions league with them this season as did Hazard when he signed for Chelsea, Thiago and Gotze for Bayern, etc.

Generally speaking I shouldn't have brought pedigree into the equation because this year has shown us just how quickly a team can go from champions to mid-table - but the fact remains that come the summer there is a good chance we will not be able to offer potential signings Champions League football. If that's the case the only way to attract the best players may well be to pay them a little more than we might have done had we been able to offer Champions League football.

We'll be competing for their signature with teams with just as impressive histories as us (as well as City, Chelsea, PSG and Monaco) and all of them will be able to offer Champions League football and will be prepared to pay big wages.

Do you know for sure if Garay is going to Zenit? I would prefer him over Mangala.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently he has turned down the chance to speak with them. I'm not sure whether that's an indication that he wants to move to United, doesn't want a move to Russia or is simply not looking to go anywhere at this time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, I really hope he is the sort of player that we go for in the summer. Someone like him on the opposite side to Januzaj with Valencia, Kagawa and Lingard back up would be outstanding.

Can somebody clear up what happened with daehli? Watched him in a few youth games and heard great things about him, then he left for what I understood to be home sickness. But he didn't seem to hesitant on the idea of playing for Cardiff?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He will actually play for Cardiff.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard he was upset that Adnan got the chance before he did given he was older and been at the club longer. I think Adnan going on the preseason tour and him not getting a sniff was the final straw. It's all rumours though so don't take it as gospel. It does make sense though.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only reason Daehli left United, was because OGS wanted him, and OGS could promise a regular starter in the first 11-team at Molde.

OGS means a lot to Daehli, and that's also why he turned down Manchester United this window, and joined Cardiff! Daehli's transfer to Cardiff was delayed a bit because our club wanted to have a chat with the young lad, because of some deal with Molde when we sold him there in the first place.

It's a shame really, that we lost Daehli. He's going to be the next big thing comming from Scandinavia!
OGS knows what he's doing over there in Wales!

Eds. So far all I can see from looking at your answers here is that we don't show any form for interest on any players?!? The club need midfielders, and we need it now! If a player cost 1000000M. Then use the money!

So if Chelsea sign Matic and Arsenal sign Draxler, will people still be saying that its "OK, as Moyes can buy in the summer and there's no value in the market this window"? They are both players who would improve us drastically!

Moyes has had from August until now to identify targets, so why are we doing more scouting now, rather than signing them up?! T

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would be astonished if Draxler moved to Arsenal this month. Matic is a good player, but there are better players out there and perhaps Moyes prefers them? We do need to bring in some quality nozzla agreed, certainly by September, hopefully by Feb 1st.

Agree0 Disagree0

Draxler won't be moving till the summer and Matic is the opposite of what we need regardless of how good he is. We need fast midfielders, not those that are even slower than what we already have.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2014 10:36:48
Coentraory to pogbalar belief, I conti see us Moysie neighbours making any signings. It doesn't mata that the fans think it is vidal that we strengthen, there will be no pjanic buys. As far as Moyes is concerned, it is Schneider here nor there. With him it is black or white - there is no garay in the middle. Even if we do sign a foreigner, it won't be long before he gets hamsik and wants to go back home.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not be surprised to see Draxler move this window. Schalke seem resigned to losing him and so if somebody stumps up the buy out clause I can't see why he wouldn't move. A great young player who is eligible for the champions league and could help Arsenal both on the wings and up top. As much as I'd love to see him at OT I think he'd fit in perfectly at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's so terrible it's good.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been busy concentrating on your league form since August, nozzla. Left little time for scouting trips mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh

Matic may not be the answer but he's not as slow as Carrick or Fellaini. He's pretty fast at his height.

We may not have interest in him but he's really good, at least from what I see from him every week in Benfica.

Agree0 Disagree0

No Mata what you think, that post does not make you look Cleverley!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it worth splashing out on a player that is similar though? We can't go flitting from target to target. Vidal is the one we want, if we don't get him then players in a similar mould will be targeted.
