The whole feel of the club. Sunday was the first big game I've looked forward to, enjoyed as watched on the edge of my sofa.

Another thing I'm liking is being linked to young prospects again. Manchester United has always blended youth with experience, so being linked to the likes of Brooks, Thurman and Under (not sure who he is) is refreshing. Don't get me wrong, the big names are important but not at the expense of the next gen.

Ole has got it spot on and is following SAF principles.

Neville was bang on, our heritage is as important as Ajax or Barcelona. It's the United way.

Thurman? Who is he? Never heard the name.

First name is Uma.

I like the way Cengiz Under plays. Watched him a few times at roma. Pace and ability. And he plays on the right wing, a position we seem not to have filled over a period.

Uma Thurman is Lilian Thuram's son? Can't believe it.

Is it Lillian thuram?

Cengiz under looks a great prospect. Looks like a young Alexis the way he dribbles the ball. Would be pleased to see him take up the right wing position.

Uma thurman fought way out a buried grave! Could be same for united this season! :D.

Over the last 5 league games we have picked up points on everybody. It most importantly right on, we’ve gained 10 points on Arsenal and 5 points on Chelsea, and Lloyd Lordy, they play each other this weekend.

Momentum is a funny thing, if the mood stays positive and we keep our focus then our next 2 games are very winnable which builds more pressure on the teams above is. Other than Arsenal and Liverpool, everyone looks catchable, including Spurs.

Ours goals scored has had a real boost and a couple of clean sheets has helped the goal difference. Long may this run continue.

Can’t remember the last time there was such a buzz around the club tony. I am chomping at the bit for every game now. The week is dragging on for me as I can’t wait till the weekend to watch us play. We are the most in form team at the moment. It’s great to see. Take each game as it comes and you never know what will happen. It’s nice that we are no longer a laughing stock for rival fans. My friends who are Chelsea and spurs fans are definitely taking notice and are a bit concerned. Wouldn’t have said that over a month ago. As you said momentum is key. Football is a funny game.

You can tell the buzz around the club is great. This page is like a ghost town lately and that's because there's nothing to moan about!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 22:31:51
What result would everyone want between Arsenal and Chelsea? A 1-0 Arsenal win and a 4-0 win for us would leave us 5th, 3 points behind Chelsea and us in front of Arsenal on goal difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2019 00:37:08
Presume you mean CITY and Liverpool look uncatchable Tony?!

Agree totally. All other teams, including us, have a degree of fragility to us. On our day we could win against anyone but also lose to anyone.

Preferred result is Chelsea to lose all 3 points. I am not at all worried about Arsenal. But Chelsea and Tottenham are serious challenges given the start we gave them.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Jan 2019 04:08:01
I think Chelsea will struggle for goals because they are over reliant on Hazard.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2019 08:42:17
arsenal win may keep us behind them but we would’ve closed on Chelsea which is the main thing, arsenal are so inconsistent that them winning is prob the best result, obvs a draw is welcome.
Just to touch on the buzz at the club, it’s great isn’t it, unreal in a few weeks we’ve gone from dread to excitement and Ole takes most credit, the players performing and playing the way united should, sure there’s a song in there ha.
If Ole continues in this vein, wether we lose games or not he’s out himself right in the fave position for the job for me.
The defence needs bolstering and cz of that we will lose but even Jose couldn’t sort that so given funds I am confident Ole will identify the right centre back and right bacj needed, with a stronger defence and with our attacking prowess it’s almost at the point if no brainer to give Ole the job. I said that about Poch and if not Ole he would be perfect for us but Ole knows United inside and out, how we should play and our values, it’s not always about the name, our history should tell us that.

with Kane now out for 2 months I think we may see Spurs struggle to stay in the top 4 unless they get a new striker in.

Under pep or poch he would be outstanding exactly the sort of rb ole needs imo. i'd take 3 years of bellerin until dalot learns and at 22 he can step in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if Richard Keys was here, he would tell you to dip into your own pocket then and buy him for the club.....}

15 Jan 2019 18:36:53
Nice write up ed. I am a fan and thought he was fantastic when he burst onto the scene. Seemed he was set for the top. You are right he doesn’t seem to have been coached properly in these formative years. Like ken said, he would probably be fulfilling his potential under pep, Poch and Klopp. Would take him at united. Is there any possibility he could leave arsenal in the summer? He looks very settled with his life outside football thriving with being in London.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect him to move just yet.}

15 Jan 2019 12:56:47
Anybody catch the pitch side post match interview with Ole and Sheringham quizzing him?

Ole got a nice sly dig in at mourinho when asked what he had to change when coming in.

Anyone think rabiot could be a good option to replace Matic? No interest of us probably but he is available and wouldn't cost a bomb. Tidy little player. Seems Barcelona bound though, shame.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

15 Jan 2019 12:19:37
Most times i have seen rabiot play he's been used further forward in a midfield 3, where herrera and pogba play for us. So i don't think he would be a matic replacement.

Looking back on it, probably wasnt wise to get rid of daley blind as he could play in midfield and left back. Was one of our better performers under lvg and never really let the side down. Technically was very good.

Agree7 Disagree1

15 Jan 2019 12:52:51
Ruben Neves is the best replacement i think. has done really well in the prem so far. would not mind declan rice either depending on how he does over the next few months.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 13:30:25
Neves and rice are interesting ones. Neves not the typical DM more a deep lying playmaker type. I'd take him in a heartbeat but not at the 100m being banded about. Rice is more the like for like replacement and is definitely catching the eye at the moment.

15 Jan 2019 14:47:24

15 Jan 2019 17:42:09
Personally would try for ndombele or doucoure maybe goretzka even as realistic moves. Not like for like but think all could bring something to the role. Rabiot is a class player and would love him at the club but more to rotate with Pogba and Herrera like suggested above.

15 Jan 2019 17:47:55
Rabiot seems to bring a lot of baggage with him.

15 Jan 2019 18:31:49
Kante or Verratti for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 18:40:09
You are right TrueRedDevil. That baggage is mainly his agent mother. I am a fan of neves and wouldn’t mind us going through the deep lying play maker route like we had with Carrick. If you watch Fernandinho he is so integral to both their defence and their attacks. Wonderful player and they will struggle to replace him. I agree we shouldn’t have sold blind. I was always a fan and thought he was a very intelligent player. Doucoure would be another one I would look at along with ndidi. Both premier league proven so wouldn’t take long to settle. Plenty of energy from both players which would give us legs in midfield to press the opposition.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 22:50:12
I like Nzonzi - maybe primarily of how goos he was against us but still if he could be brought in at a decent price as a squad option I think he would be an interesting option.

16 Jan 2019 10:16:46
Julian Weigl seems to be flying under th radar but i really like his style of play.
Idrissa Gueye will be an interesting pick as well. But what do you guys think of Jefferson Lerma? 1st season in the EPL, adjusting well and playing good football.

Idrissa Gueye has lot of energy but again is limited on the ball. Saul Niguez, Frenkie De Jong, Ruben Neves will be a step above him.

This is the Pogba we want to see consistently.
He was constantly shouting instructions in the Spurs match and very few can produce the inch perfect pass he gave to Rashford.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 11:07:07
Clearly Mourinho was the main issue, however, Pogba has not covered himself in glory either. His response to Mourinho getting sacked was at best classless at worst showing deep character flaws in him as a person that will hold him back professionally.

He doesn't want to be here and has had his agent activity looking for a new club. Our club is open to selling him and have also looked for a buyer.

I still feel his days are numbered, and although his form has been excellent since Ole took over I have concerns that our team seems entirely set up to play for and around him. That's a dangerous game long term as an injury or a drop in form of Pogba and the sides form will drop too. Especially as we have no one who can step in and play the way Pogba does.

I see his good form as win-win, we get good performances from a top player, if he stays then hopefully those performances continue, if he does leave then those performances should flush out a buyer and hopefully increase his value.

Agree5 Disagree2

15 Jan 2019 11:51:30
Here’s a hypothetical. How would Ronaldo have behaved / played if his Manager was always having a dig or playing him in the ‘wrong’ position? I guess we’ll never know. Pogba hasn’t behaved great but let’s see if he can continue to pay well. Wothiughwoshing to be controversial, I don’t think he’s been brilliant. Much improved, more attacking, setting up goals, but still drifts for large parts of the game. However, you can really see the potential for him to be truly great now.

Ole talks about building a team around him so not sure how that sits with the looking to leave, willing to sell situaton. One final point on PP. I’m not a huge fan of the ainstagram, brand approach but I don’t think we can correlate that to his perfromances on the pitch. Lewis Hamilton jets all over the world doing music videos, fashion shoots, parties, and yet he delivers on the track. If PP can win us games consistently he can take as many stupid photos as he likes.

Pogba is playing well jose is history.
I agree with ajh he is still lacking in areas he can improve.
A team can be built around him if you have players that compliment his weaknesses and are prepared to do some of his defencive duties. But he is definitely trying harder and the key is he seems to be enjoying himself.
Everybody on this site critisised him and were quite correct in doing so. He has a different role in the team now one that he is benefiting from but if he had done his best to carry out the role the previous manager wanted him to do despite his personal reservations i would have admired him more personally.
There are lots of players playing better under ole than jose so its been the correct move by the board. Lots of positives so far and no real negatives so i'm very optimistic.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 17:37:32
I've been vocal about PP and I still stand my my opinion of him, but even his biggest critic cannot deny the upturn in form. He's been incredible recently.

The thing I was most impressed with on Sunday, he tracked back to the left corner flag to block a cross, and turned to have a go at Martial (who I think is the weak link in our pressing game) .

Agree with what Shappy said above. PP's values as a person are questionable at best. Personally I think he's petulant and the first sign of things not going his way he will revert to type. Mourinho clearly wasn't right for the club but the way PP behaved was not that of a leader.

I'm still of the opinion he should be sold, but if he keeps up current form for the remainder of the season he will have proved me wrong, which I only hope is the case.

Shame about Wagner, he did a tremendous job to get them up and then keep them up. Even Bournemouth and Burnley who have done really well must always worry a poor run and they’re gone. Reading spring to mind under Coppell. They did really well, held their own and then suddenly were in free fall. It shows how much pressure there is in the apremier League which is basically 3 leagues in 1now.

League1 City, United, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal competing for the top 4.
League 2 Everton, Leicester, possibly West Ham
League 3 everyone else who I could see going down

It used to be perhaps 5 or 6 teams were at risk but nowadays I can see any of 11 teams dropping out.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 15:26:16
Yes i agree totally ajh.
It is very much a top 6 now. Spurs should be able to sustain it when they have their new stadium.
I fear a little for chelsea if and when abramavic sells up. Their stadium needs well a new home and i'm not sure he wants to see that through.
Everton have the potential again with a new stadium coming as do newcastle imo under the right owner to make that a top 8. Outside of those 8 there are a couple of sleeping giants villa Leicester forest birmingham etc but not only do all these clubs need unmentionable sums on playing staff they all need serious investment in the clubs infrastructure and stadiums in order to sustain a serious tilt at becoming a big club.
Look at blackburn and Leicester for example. You can even win a title but unless you sustain it for years you will not be considered a big club.
Spurs have taken 10 years knocking in and around the top 4 its only recently that they are accepted as a top club .
Any of the rest can go down in any given season imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2019 17:59:17
This is one of the main reasons youngsters generally don’t get much a look in ken, it’s a big risk and too easy to slide towards the bottom 3. Hats off to those clubs that are prepared to take a chance.

Being honest AJH if i was a club looking to develop i'd be looking at what leeds are doing now. Lots of young players with a ciuple of snr pros with a really good coach.
They are saving fortunes on fees and wages. If they go up and stick to their model and stay up they are in a great position. If they go down and keep their squad they will go back up stronger and wiser the following year.
I think the way forward is to develop your own if you develop a jewel every 3 years to sell on it funds the next generation. The way fees are going now this is what clubs are going to have to do.
