This is the first time I actually enjoyed DDG conceding goals. I would take This Ronaldo without a second thought. even at 34 he has 2-3 years left in him. take a bow United legend.

With the exception of 2 set plays and a shot that ddg saves 99 times out of a 100 how good do people think Ronaldo played .

He isn't the same player but give him a chance and he scores. In big games he can still put them away.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 23:28:49
he would not last half a season now in the prem.

16 Jun 2018 00:40:15
Arguing with the boy. He wants him back, and thinks he could still do it. I think his legs have gone. International pace suits him alright, but as Daz, says, wouldn't last long in the Premiership.

But then what do I know, the boy made him his captain in the fantasy football. I dropped Golovin at the last minute.

Ronaldo off course isn’t the player he was when he won the balon d’or with us. But he’s ruthless, he’s no longer a winger, he’s and out and out striker for me. He still has pace, his ability to get off the ground is incredible, and he wins big games by himself with his goals. Build a team to play to him and he will still get 40 plus a season for the next 3-5 years. He is a physical freak.

16 Jun 2018 08:01:54
Totally agree Coalan. Stevie, listen to your son!
Ronaldo can play at a high level for at least another 2 years. He's looked after himself better than most 22 year old players. Dare i mention Shaw, jones, rooney, Anderson who seem to have lived at McDonalds, yet no one said they couldn't last in the PL. Yet Ronaldo is 34 but extremely fit and everyone is writing him off.
Most importantly, can you imagine how much the players around him will learn from him. Not only skilfully, but mentally and desire to win and experience. I think Rashford, pogba and Martial if he stays, will benefit a lot.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jun 2018 08:16:26
I'm not for Ronaldo coming back, he would be ineffective. Last night he surprised me, forget his goals, (pen and freekick you can still score at 50) and the fluke was just that as DDG messed up and it was a poor effort. Fair play to him, but that could easily have been any other player scoring them goals.

However he did well for me last night, linked well, was very unselfish, worked harder than usual and I was impressed with his brain. That said, would only look good for a team like City in the Prem and he isn't good enough for them anymore. He needs to be the focal point and yesterday was rare in that he actually played well. He is a goal machine, but that's because he plays for Madrid now and is surrounded by players giving him the ball relentlessly, doubt he'd hit double figures if we signed him to be honest.

Spain for one more year then US is sensible.

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed025's Note - me thinks you speak with forked tongue mate..

16 Jun 2018 08:39:01
Beast,

I think he would hit double figures before October. How anyone can say he wouldn’t do it in the premier league anymore is beyond me, he just scored in pretty much every game of the CL this season, won it then scored a hat trick in the first game of the World Cup, the guy is still unstoppable. If you genuinely think ‘anyone’ could have scored that free kick without making De Gea dive you are crazy.

I am not for buying him as I don’t think we would get as long out of him as the price Madrid would demand, but the guy has proved time and time again how he can still do it and how ruthless he is, he would have a field day for at least 2 seasons in the prem for me, that just isn’t long enough at the price.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - best player on the planet for me GDS,..

16 Jun 2018 08:50:37
What am I reading above?

"How good did he actually play"?
"Would not last half a season in the prem"
"International pace suits him"
"He would be ineffective, wouldn't hit double figures, not good enough for city"

I'd put my house on it, if Ronaldo was to spend one season with us next year he would score 30+ easy. He is a phenom, on a different planet IMO.

In agreement with GDS, I'm not all for buying him because he'd be incredibly costly and we'd have to sacrifice other positions that are needed. But if he did come back tomorrow, he'd have no problems at all. How it is questioned given his incredible record is beyond me.

16 Jun 2018 09:07:11
I’ve not seen many 50 year olds hit a free kick like that tbf.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - just wait until today when ken shows Ronnie how it is done and you will see a 50 year old do it...}

16 Jun 2018 10:54:18
He is still head and shoulders above any single player we have in our squad. No brainer if he wants to come for 2-3
Years. Yes please.

16 Jun 2018 11:01:21
Great player yes but MU should be looking forwards not backwards so it's a no for me.

Hes the best ever and if there is any chance i would sell couple of our so called prima donnas and buy him.

16 Jun 2018 11:04:08
Ed. I can only hope that Beast was speaking with forked tongue. Otherwise, i would have to say he's been taking illegal substance washed down with a lot of alcohol.
Ronaldo will score 30 goals for United if he's to come back.
And he'll teach martial and pogba what real desire means.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Ive been iffy about a ronnie return. but i'm now on the side of a ronnie return!

Ronaldo is just sensational. The best big game player out there. What a great game and finally the World Cup is alive. On a side note, De Gea doing his best to stay at united 😂.

Just as amazing is Ronaldo hasn't scored from his last 44 free kicks for Portugal.

News that DDG is on the verge of agreeing an extension. This is excellent news.

However, I'll chuck this one out there and see how people feel.

Would you rather sign 1 more player and have DDG sign a new long term contract.

OR

DDG leave and signs for Real Madrid and we sign 3 new players.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

15 Jun 2018 17:59:18
De gea 1 million percent. He's our only player that has turned up week in week out for the last 4 season. He is the best in the world in his position and without him we would not have finished 2nd last season. I'd give him the captaincy and make him the best paid player at the club he deserves it.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 18:54:47
Couldnt agree more Dannyc - when you think he is a foreigner, came to us as a skinny kid and got hammered in the press, lives alone as his parents went back to Spain (i think his brother did too) his girlfriend lives in Spain . take all that into consideration and yet he really loves the club and had never agitated for a move after the Moyes/ LVG madness . got to respect the man.

Best in the world in my opinion.

Agree7 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 18:46:14
Good question Shapster. If he wants to stay and is prepare to commit to us then we keep him. He’s one of ours, he’s the best in the world, he wants to stay, he could go on to achieve legendary status.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 18:51:24
Agreed with all that Danny. Keeping De Gea is so important I am ecstatic. Quality keepers save you 10 points a season, or lose you champions league finals as Liverpool found out. To answer your question shappy, I think it depends what 3 players were signed. But replacing De Gea would be so difficult and expensive.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 19:17:51
Impossible question to answer without knowing which 3 players we'd sign.

15 Jun 2018 19:48:50
Er we should hold off on that offer 😂😂.

15 Jun 2018 19:51:27
One of those players would have to be a gk and regardless of money we could not replace him so keep DDG for me.

16 Jun 2018 07:01:44
Cheers guys he is imperative to us having sucess. Like you say he wins us points and important games. I think he is loyal aswell something that is a rarety in this modern day culture. We gave dave the chance to be the player he is and that is a lot of credit to the goalkeeping coaches that we have at our club. But also the mentality of a leader. He leads by example.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 07:33:23
Who do you guys think will/ should get more game time out of some of our younger players? Players like Tuanzebe, McTominay and Fosu Mensah.

McTominay is obviously quite highly rated by Jose and will likely see a reasonable amount of playing time but Tuanzebe and Fosu Mensah don't seem to have an obvious place in the squad. Do you think these guys will have another year at United of playing in the early rounds of the cups or can you see them breaking into the team? Personally, though I'd love to see it, I can't see much game time at all for Tuanzebe and Fosu Mensah.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2018 08:03:40
Fosu mensah should get the most game time because i think he's the most talented of the three, can play multiple positions and i don't think his work ethic is in question.

Dont see how tuanzebe can get any game time if we plan to have 6 centre backs on book and only play with two central defenders at one time.

Reality is mctominay will play much more next season especially if fellaini leaves because he works hard and is willing to do everything the manager says.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 11:06:33
I think mctominay will go out on loan depending on another cm signing and AP coming back.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 11:26:06
TFM depends where he's going to be playing. RB or DCM. Tuanzebe probably needs a loan until we can free up some space. Maybe like TFM and go to a lower prem team for a season, see how he gets on.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jun 2018 13:37:42
I can see TFM leaving. He has made it clear that he wants regular game time, and I don’t think he’s at the stage where he will get it with us.

Just read that rashford has a slight knee injury and has misse the first 2 training sessions with england.

Played well so far. Gutted for him if its true as he will miss the first match.

And from a footy fans perspective, i'd rather him than sterling in the 10 role.

Is there a World Cup page Eds?
I just wanna say, some of the teams in this are shocking, Saudi today for example, Panama, Iran etc all probably won't score or gain a point and then plan is to extend it to 46 teams come 2026, will be worse than ever, I can see some of the European teams that missed out like Ireland, Wales, Italy, Holland would add to it but I mean we are going to end up with Cape Verde v Solomon Islands the way it's going.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - World Cup page

I am not sure Ireland under Martin O'Neill would add anything, they are dreadful. Wales are not the team they were either. Italy and Holland are not there because they were awful as well. No one has missed out that didn't deserve to do so.}

15 Jun 2018 07:36:58
Yeah I agree they didn’t qualify on merit but in comparison Italy, Ireland, Wales and Holland amongst others would be at least competitive at least in the group stage, only going to be worse when it expands, some of these teams in this tournament are awful.
Thanks for the link Ed! Dunno why I’m ranting tbh, Like you I’m not a fan of international football, my mates can’t get their heads round it but doesn’t excite me like club football, especially as wales rarely qualify for anything lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is dire to watch, so much slower than club football.}

15 Jun 2018 09:27:29
